Xavier’s life has gone to hell. Not only has his ex-boyfriend’s stalker attacked him, but in order to keep him safe he’s being sent to the Gillham pack. It wouldn’t be too bad, if not for the small detail that he hadn’t known shifters existed before that! He’s not sure what he can expect from them, but he doesn’t have a choice. When he meets Andy, he’s weirdly attracted to the man, but Xavier knows he’s not good enough for him.

Andy doesn’t want to play babysitter for Xavier, at least not until he meets him and realizes the man is his mate. He knows he’s going to have a hard time convincing Xavier to at least give their bond a chance, and that’s not counting the other problems their relationship will have to face.

The two mates will have to navigate angry families and the ever-present lab problem, and still Andy isn’t sure he’ll be able to help his mate get over his low self-esteem long enough to give him a chance.

Catherine is the creator of several series, most of them paranormal, including the Whitedell Pride Series and the Gillham Pack Series. While she graduated in translation, she decided to go the writer’s way because it was more fun to create her own stories and characters.
She’s been living in Italy for more than twenty years, but she’s a daughter of the North—Belgium to be precise—and she misses it so much that she’s already planning to move back.
She loves pizza—probably too much —her pets, and of course, books. She sneaks some reading time in her schedule every time she has five minutes free from writing, demands from her various pets and son, and lastly, housework.

This series cannot be read without having read the Whitedell Pride series first. And those books are not stand-alones. You have to read the first 9 books of Whitedell, then start with this one and then go back and forth.

I think I’m getting a bit numb from reading the same thing over and over again. I still liked this one, but overall it was a bit meh.

This was a short quick read that I liked. Xavier life has gone down hill when his now ex boyfriends stalker attacks him he doesn't think it will happen again because he told the stalker that they broke up Andrew doesn't fell comfortable leaving him on his own so he ask his childhood friend Dominic who is the Alpha of the "Whitedell Pack". He gets him a job as an accountant with the "Gillham Pack" Kameron the Alpha of the pack ask his friend Andy to look after him. Andy is a pretty boy he is a hot sexy wolf-shifter he doesn't want to babysit a human until he meets him and it turns out that he is his mate. Xavier who has low self esteem thinks that he wasn't good enough for Andrew his ex and he doesn't think he is good enough for Andy and to top it all off he just found out that shifters exist and that he is mated to a wolf. Kameron who is the new Alpha of the pack has a lot of things to deal with the old Alpha who didn't like gay people was dealing in illegal activities like selling pack member to labs that are doing experiments on them. When they go on a raid the rescue a lot of shifter's and some kids one of them Nathan takes a liking to Andy and he and his mate are now raising a little boy. This was a pretty good read. This was my first time reading this author this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

This is my first time reading an LGBT shapeshifter story. I was looking forward to reading it because I love this genre (you know, the getting possessive over your mate and stuff). I really liked Xavier a lot. He's adorable that reminds me of Simon. Andy is good too and he's not an Alpha which is a good change for shapeshifter stories. However, the focus of the story is too good to be true. It's not just an insta-love but their relationship is also progressing too fast. After all, it is a short story. But I think it would be better if it could leave a mark to my expectations.
It was also a bit hard for me to get on with the story since I've heard there's another series that comes first before this.

Xavier struggles with self-esteem issues. His boyfriend dumped him and then his ex’s stalker attacked him. The next surprise is even harder to handle as he learns about shifters for the first time. With the stalker still on the loose, Xavier is sent to the Gillam Pack for his own safety. Not sure what to expect, Xavier is surprised to find himself attracted to Andy. Andy did not want to babysit some human until he realized that Xavier is his mate. Now he is struggling with trying to get Xavier to realize the same thing all while dealing with his self-esteem issues and the lab where shifters are being held against their will.

Xavier will touch your heart as you watch him struggle. He does not feel he is good enough for Andy and, therefore, cannot possibly be his mate. Andy has his work cut out for him. Reading their story will have you smiling and crying as the plot unfolds. Above all, you will be highly satisfied with Xavier’s tale. It is amazing, then again, it is Catherine Lievens. Her stories never fail to satisfy.

Because I love the Whitedell Pride series, I've been hanging out for the Gillham pack to get some books ever since we first met them.

You don't need to have read the Whitedell Pride series to enjoy this one but if you have then you get to revisit some of your favourite characters here. I don't know if all of the future books will work the same way but Xavier had a storyline that over laps with the most recent Whitedell book so we got the same events from two different perspectives.

I loved Xavier and Andy together, and I love knowing that Kameron and Zach are going to be getting their story next. Finally! The introduction of the children was interesting and the fact that the Gillham pack is still having to deal with homophobia from within its ranks also sets it apart from this author's other series.

The best part? We now get two books from Catherine Lievens each month.

Overweight, low self-esteemed chick with a dick Harlequin shifter romance. Got frustrated with the dudette because he wouldn't grow a pair and learn to love his curves and thank the good Lord for sending him a hot, tall, muscular, tattooed, pierced, pretty boy, auto mechanic wolf shifter. At least there wasn't male preg to make Xavier hormonal and even more emotional. He and Andy end up adopting.

I forced myself to finish this book since I wasn't familiar with this author's work.

Finally finding some time for this series!

This was short and cute - I really like Catherine Lievens shifters.

Would have benefited from one more read through to pick up on the many errors.

I find how connected these series are, interesting. Though when/if you read the council enforcers series, there are some main characters who are not council enforcers. Even though I feel like there was a natural progression to each person introduced, it still kind of annoyed me not to see more council enforcers. I mean they could have started a series about the rescued people instead of adding it to the council enforcer series; just from the books that were written already.

This book was about characters who have image issies and that sometimes leads to self-esteem problems.

This is transitioning into a point by point series edit and since you cannot start the Gillham Pack without having read the first 9 in the Whitedell Pack - I am blending them to a certain extent. So .. a nice love story with the typical "I am not good enough" drama but soon over. A rescue and minimal exploring of the family dynamics. A snack and I think it looks like that will be more or less typical.

Gillham Pack 1

Sometimes you just have to trust someone else knows what’s best for you.

Summary:
Many people grow up unhappy and insecure about themselves be it size, the color of their hair, eyes, or weight. They were influenced by how others treated them causing them to have a negative self image effecting every aspect of their lives. Xavier's problems with his weight made him doubt that any man would want him. Andy wasn't looking for a mate, but when he met Xavier that changed forever. It was sad to see the struggle Xavier had realizing how someone a beautiful as Andy could want him while Andy saw what a wonderful and loving man he was. Watching Xavier come out of his shell accepting that he could have everything he ever wanted if he took a chance was inspiring. This series began with a crossover from the Whitedell Pack transitioning seamlessly into a new series introducing other characters into the existing world. I look forward future stories to come in both series.

For fans of the Whitedell Pride you will be happy to know that this “spin off” relies heavily on knowing the story of the previous Whitedell packs and their mates.

In fact, Xavier was Andrew’s ex boyfriend before he found his own mate in Andy. Yeah – he went from Andrew to Andy (Not shortened for anything, his name is just Andy!)

Xavier has a lot of self-esteem issues, doesn’t know about shifters, and is possibly being attacked by Andrew’s stalker. He is put in the care of the neighboring Gillham pack (wolves) for protection when it’s discovered he’s one of the inner circles’ mates.

He doesn’t take being a mate well nor the information that shifters exist. He hates the idea that Andy is “forced” to mate with him because of the mate bond and resists until he’s finally convinced that the bond is only part of the attraction Andy feels for him.

In the way of many shifter romances this is fairly predictable, but the unique use of someone not ripped or super buff makes it superior in my eyes ☺

I really enjoyed this new start to a new series and recommend it to all the fans of the Whitedell series and shifter romances in general.

I thought that this was a great start to her spin-off series. I really liked Xavier as a character from the most recent Whitedell story, and I think that Andy was a perfect match for him! I also liked that so many new characters were introduced, but it didn't feel like TOO many all at once. (I gotta know what's up with Zach NOW! haha) I also liked that there were some major advances in plot as far as Glass and the labs, plot lines that were started with the Whitedell Pride series.

While this can be read on its own since it does summarize what's going on very well and the majority of the characters are new, I think it's more meaningful if you have read the Whitedell Pride series, since some of the characters and plot points do overlap.

I can't wait for more in this series, and the best part? Now I get a new book from this author every 15 days instead of 30!

This was a quick enjoyable read. Xavier did not know that shifters existed but when he is attacked by his ex-boyfriend's stalker, Andrew makes arraignments for him to go to the Gillham Pack for safety reasons. When Xavier finds out about shifters, he doesn't take it too well. I don't think I have ever read about someone fainting , a couple of times, when they are told. Anyway, when he meets Andy, he feels a pull and it turns out they are mates. What I didn't realize is that this was a spin off of the Whitedell Pride Series, which I didn't read, yet. I don't think it is necessary to read that first, I did feel that I was dropped into an ongoing story. I will be going back & reading the other series before I continue on with this one.

Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance

If you love shifter stories and you have read the Whitedell Pride series from Catherine Lievens, you will want to read Xavier. Though you can read it without the Whitedell Pride series, you will miss much of the back story... including meeting Xavier and his reasons for being in the Gillham pack territory. Though it is summarized a bit, you will get a much richer view having read at least Andrew (book 9) of Whitedell Pride.

Now I didn't read Andrews book so I don't know the back story or the nature of his relationship with Xavier, but what I can say is that I didn't like when Andrew made a comment to Xavier about him not thinking that Xavier would be a mate to someone. As if Xavier is someone not wothy of being a mate to a shapshifter.

This is the first title I have read from her and I have to say won't be my last. The characters were well developed and funny. There was some violence but only told mildly. There was sexual content. I liked the story line of this book and can't wait for book 2 coming on July 15.

Great Read

I really enjoyed this story. I was surprised I hadn't read it before now. Xavier has some serious issues but thankfully he has a strong support system. Andy is definitely a in your face type character. I am anxious to see what comes next.
