This was a fast read that I picked up yesterday afternoon. I don't remember the names except for the heroine's daughter (Lara) and the hero (Clayton), but the basic premise is that reformed-troublemaker, now single-mother heroine returns to the town that shunned her for her best friend's wedding. Heroine has always had a thing for hero (bff's brother), and he has always used his disapproval of her as a reason to avoid her. A lot of push-and-pull, I'm leaving, I'm staying, I'm leaving on the heroine's part, and a lot of I want her, she's bad news on the hero's part. He says and thinks a lot of insensitive things about her, because he's VERY judgemental. And the heroine seemed much younger than her supposed 26 years. A cute way to pass a few hours, but nothing I'd run out and buy. C+

Very good romance story always have parts that make you cry to make you wish you had the dreamy guy and every other emotion in between. From a woman who ran away comes back to find she should have never left. Acceptance is what she was looking for and it was there all along. Love finally filled her world. Amazing!!

Unexpected Bride had me hooked from the very first page all the way to the end. Clayton and Abby's love story was full of Romance and humor and just realness that a real couple would go through. This book had me wanting more of Claytons and Abby's story I wanted to know what happened next. I definitely recommend this Book. If you love Romance this is the Story for you.

Unexpected Bride, by Lisa Childs is frustratingly slow-moving and tediously repetitive. Eight years ago, Abby Hamilton left Cloverville after events, some of which were not her fault, made it hard for her to stay. Now a successful business woman and single mother, she has returned with her 5-year-old daughter, Lara, to convince her childhood friend, Molly McClintock, not to marry the man she doesn’t love. But it seems Molly’s older brother Clayton, always the responsible one, still considers Abby a trouble-maker, even though he’s attracted to her. So after reading, oh, about a hundred times that Abby realises that Clayton does not respect or trust her, so she can’t stay in Cloverville, I think even the dumbest reader will get the picture. And then another 99 times Clayton thinks that he already has too many responsibilities to take on Abby and Lara as well, yawn…….Watch for the hot sex scene in the hall outside the study: don’t blink, or you’ll miss it. Coulda been a hundred pages shorter with the same effect. At least now I know I don’t need to read any more by Lisa Childs!

Abbey, grew up with the McClintocks as her parents neglected her... and the McClintocks all loved her, except for responsible, big brother Clayton... he found her annoying, and let her know it...

8 years have passed, and she's returning for sister McClintock's wedding... with her 4 year old daughter...

and sparks fly between Clayton & Abbey - as they come to realize that each has what the other needs... Clayton needs someone to take care of him, Abbey needs to take care of someone... Clayton needs a little laughter, Abbey can offer that in spades... Abbey needs to be loved for herself, Clayton can't help but to love her...

ahhhhh.

Cute romance. Some angsty moments. Main characters held my interest. Minor characters have potential - may read their stories too.

Quick read. Extremely predictable. Didn't really feel a connection with the characters. Resolved way too quickly.
