Good for BSW and MSW students alike. I thought it was a great strengths perspective model for social work practice. It is all inclusive though so it may not always give you the details on specific tools to use in your practice. More like an overview of ideas and ways to approach different needs, groups and individuals. A good addition to your library though.
I read this book for a graduate social work class about generalist social work practice. I actually really did like this book because it literally was telling you what you need to know about social work practice, treating clients, and all aspects of the helping process. I think I learned a lot from this book as there were many case examples, with problems we may see everyday or eventually have a client dealing with similar things. It was good to hear how the helping process would reflect back onto their presenting problem and how a social worker can help them.
Although there aren't many graphics, the content of the text is detailed and practical. It's a comprehensive overview of the process of interviewing a client and determining an action plan. My course had an awesome syllabus with activities that built on the concepts and extended research into a role-play video. Thanks go Cassie for an amazing performance!
I've had this book for awhile, matter of fact the third year I was in school for social work. This is such a good source of material, especially for studying for the LSW exam. Which I'm still studying for.
Very practical examples, information, and insight into social work practice. This book was easy to read and understand and gave tons of relevant examples on how to apply each of the methods.
It can be dry at times, but that is what you would expect from an introductory social work text. This book really helped me identify clinical skills I was using and then commit them to memory.
