Very good precursor for anyone working in commercial banking. It provided a very fundamental and cursory overview of how commercial banks operate. How they make money and how they can structure their loans to match various risk levels. Author also does a good job not going into too much detail. This book helped me familiarize myself with the basic process and mechanisms commercial banks use to help their businesses. Overall a very straightforward and informative read. I would recommend this and it may also be helpful to use as a reference.
I wish had read this book in my early years at banking. Thanks to Andy Keusal for sharing this knowledge with anyone like to start his career in corporate banking. I believe this is one of the best books will guide any beginner in corporate banking to start with confident his career in banking. Explain exactly the right information to ease your job and enhance your skills by giving you a better understanding of the required knowledge. a book like this is required to be read once you on this type of job as it very known for most of the fresh graduate sometime your line manager is not really free for you all the time especially in our job for that a book like this will be like a short-cut to get the right information and hit the road breaking into banking.
True to what goes on in the industry, and as such it is a very helpful book for someone considering a career in commercial banking. The informality of the book definitely makes it an easy read, although I found it to be a bit too informal at times. The diagrams were helpful, but some of the pictures (like people in suits playing tug-of-war and two people shaking hands) did not add a lot of value. Definitely gave off some cheesy/corny vibes.
That said, if you're getting into this industry and want to know how it works, I would still recommend.
Good book on credit analysis. one pitfall is that the authors promotes his other work in the book for more understanding in which means the book is not comprehensive on credit analysis. But overall the way the book was written is great, I understood most of the concepts easily even though they’re new to me.
Decent read with high-level overview of the moving parts of commercial banking. Very helpful for a software engineer working on building applications for underwriters in commercial lending. Good to understand the terminology and how certain things relate to one another.
