It only takes one wrong turn to change your life forever.

Witnessing a murder was not on Lacey Maples's agenda for the evening. Neither was being spotted, caught and cuffed to a cement mixer. So when the perpetrator tries to convince her he's protecting her, she's far from convinced. Especially when she sees the twinkle in his eye.

For Alex Petrov, Lacey is a major glitch in an otherwise perfect plan. While his motives are pure, he can't allow Lacey to interfere before the drug deal goes down in two days' time, least of all by getting herself killed.

If Alex could reveal his plans to her, he would, but it would only make her position more dangerous. And he's rapidly discovering he would do almost anything to protect her.

The operation is at stake. That's all that matters. Lives hang by a thread. And sometimes, when lives hang in the balance, people do the craziest things.

Perfect for fans of Kylie Scott, Shiloh Walker and C.J. Roberts.

I tried finishing this but I can't do it. The story became boring and the characters just decided to be so sexually attractive to each other it puts Disney to shame. And I cant really connect with the humor in this story. I don't laugh with the hero's jokes, the heroine's antics and the the execution of the plot is too meh.

- The setup is intriguing : How do you get two people who meet under incredibly tense and dangerous circumstances to find a way to survive, nevermind find the time to romance is always intriguing. Alot of romantic suspense is premised on implausible scenarios being the backdrop for romance. Ms. Tyler had an interesting setup, but….

- The execution...not so much : I think this is best summed up by that quote from Speed with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves

Jack: I have to warn you, I've heard relationships based on intense experiences never work.
Annie: OK. We'll have to base it on sex then.
Jack: Whatever you say, ma'am.

Cuffs is heavily dependent on the character’s chemistry and to have their connection work, even if the rest is the height of implausibility. Unfortunately, Alex and Lacey’s romance didn’t work. The transition from fear to sex is jarring and there is barely a conversation before their mysterious chemistry has them making them out. Once it gets to the sex scenes, there was alot of awkward phrasing which wasn’t sexy (oozing and snatches and the like isn’t a turn-on in a story with a cop and an innocent co-ed) and then it’s insta-love. I couldn’t believe that they were even attracted to each other, let alone willing to exchange I Love Yous.

I was told about the wonders of Lacey, but all I saw was blunder after blunder that put herself and Alex in danger. Her level of TSTL took me right out of the story and any hope of connecting with the characters. Even Alex has questionable moments. There were times I was tempted to put this down and it’s not a long book. By the end, I did think there was potential with the writing and the suspense part of the story, and had more time been taken to develop the relationship, this could have worked. As it is, it’s too disjointed and implausible for me.

description
I can’t recommend it because neither the romance or suspense really worked for me. I wish the author well, because there are some moments in here with potential, but the dependency on a TSTL heroine to drive the story and bad sex to cover the rest of it just didn’t work.

This is a quick read, that can easily be finished in one setting as the book is very short. Lacey witnesses a murder while taking a short cut to work late one evening. One of the "thugs" grabs her and insists that he needs to protect her from his "associates." She runs away at the first chance she gets intending on going to the police clearly unconvinced that she is in danger.

She quickly realizes that Alex was right...her life depends on him keeping her safe. When he finds her again she willingly returns to his apartment where she is under his protection.

I had trouble relating to Lacey. The author provided enough of Alex's thoughts to understand that he was taken by Lacey almost from the beginning however Lacey's thoughts were on her physical attraction to him. I didn't feel like they bonded beyond an adrenaline rush. I expected Lacey to question her actions however she rarely did and once she went further she seemed to forget that she had no idea who Alex truly was.

The story line was good, the sex scenes were HOT but the characters lacked development.

After witnessing a murder on her way to work, Lacey finds herself a cuffed captive at the hands of a sexy capture, Alex. Can she trust the man who has offered her safety?

Well.. I'm stopping at 61% on this one. (DNF)
The writing and characters are a bit two immature for my reading tastes and I'm just not going to force myself to finish it. (And I did give it an honest try!)

"Lacey's head fell back as she felt herself ooze with moisture". This was the sentence that did me in. Personally I don't believe anything that isn't infected or revolting should be described as "oozing".
Overall the book has been rather bland, predictable and somewhat confusing at times.

A great short read that offers just the right amount of suspense, tension, and sexual chemistry to keep things hot and interesting.

There is great chemistry between Alex and Lacey and their romance is very well paced—certainly you can't go wrong with an alpha male cop who isn't afraid to whip out his handcuffs! It's all the 'man in uniform' romance reader would want and more.

Cuffs is a suspense filled, action driven story with a strong and delicious romance that keeps the pages turning. I'm very much looking forward to book two in the series.

I will try to write a proper review, when not wedged into a Melbourne train on the way to work. However, I will say that I really enjoyed the rollercoaster Georgie Tyler takes us on in Cuffs - seething tension, villainous bad guys, and a very HOT pairing in Lacey and Alex. Each element blends really well into the others, and provides for an excellent suspenseful read. Very much looking forward to Bass now.

This is a quick read that should just take a few hours. Lacey is on her way home from an evening college class and decides to take a short cut. This does not work out for her at first for she is a witness to a murder. One of the men goes after her and when he catches her he cuffs her to a cement truck and tells her he will be back. Not knowing if or when she is asleep when he does come back. Alex does what you’re not supposed to do when working undercover and that is take her to his apartment to keep her safe. You are not to have sex with her either but that happens more than once in this story and that helps push this story along and makes the read enjoyable. The two main characters are good and really that is all that matters and you do see growth in Lacy’s character in that she gets out of her comfort zone. Overall a good fast pace read. Witnessing a murder and being handcuffed to a cement mixer was certainly not Lacey Maple's Idea of a great evening. Caught like a rabbit in the headlights, Lacey is spotted by Alex and a group of thugs in the middle of a confrontation. Wrong place - wrong time for Lacey.

To much avail Alex tries to convince her of his motives to protect her , but even though his appearance is dark, haunting and gruff. He is the only one who can truly protect her.

She’s frightened, considering the situation she’s in, but at the same time she’s intrigued by a magnetic connection they seem to have.

Alex Petrov is the devil is disguise, while he needs to tie up the loose ends he has worked so hard to knot, he certainly doesn't need Lacey interfering in his plans or getting herself killed in the meantime. So he has no choice but to protect her in the only way he knows how. Keep her hidden - but She proves to be more then he anticipated for.

Cuffs is certainly an experience - a roller coaster ride - it involves many highs and lows, twists and sharp turns, hair raising moments ( sexy and scary ) and ones that will keep your loins tingling or your breathe baited.

The suspense and climax in the story keeps it flowing at a fast pace - the suspense is so well designed, that we get a very vivid idea of the story unfolding within the pages.

The author has done a fantastic job of pulling you into the pages. Creating and building a connection between two unlikely people. Suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat and dam hot smoking lovin - even fully clothed ! ** wipes brows **

The chemistry between Alex and Lacey is sizzling - panty dropping and down right smexiliscious ! The intensity and danger in there connection was riveting and certainly had my reader in a frenzy ** or was that me ** haha

The writing was fluent and well penned, the plot well delivered. Every aspect tied up in the end giving us, what romance and suspense readers will enjoy.

I have to say that I am a sucker for a man with tattoo's , big, gruff, yet soft underneath and ALex is certainly all this. The author described this beef cake very vividly :D I think I fell is lust yet again .

Lacey was a developing character within the pages, going from a stunned deer to a curious cat so to speak. Alex brought out her claws and her inhibitions which certainly created that spark and magnetic connection between them. We see her tough side come out in the ending of the book and I had to say I silently sucker punched the air and thought ** go girl **

Cuffs is a UNPREDICTABLE - Deliciously delightful read , and was by all means, one hell of ride filled with suspense, heart-pounding thrills, smoking hot chemistry and action, as well as sexual tension!

First story I have read by this author and it wont be my last. I read this in almost one sitting and enjoyed every bit !

Cuffs: An Undercover Novel by Georgie Tyler is completely different from her first book, Doctors Beyond Borders. Cuffs is, most definitely, erotic suspense. So, let me say, right up front, it has some explicit sex scenes and it has some explicit language which may not be for everyone. Yet, given the nature of the story, it is fitting, appropriate and entertaining.

While taking a shortcut to work, Lacey Maples witnesses a murder. A man is sent to silence her. Instead, he catches her, cuffs her, and attempts to convince her that he is trying to save her life.

For Alex Petrov, Lacey is an innocent bystander. A young woman in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Lacey must be hidden, and protected; even if it is against her will, and without her consent.
Alex handcuffs Lacey, several times, throughout the story. And, Lacey even cuffs herself, a time or two. But, by the end of the story, Lacey learns that being cuffed is not always a bad thing.

Cuffs, in my opinion, is more erotica than suspense; yet, both elements play interesting parts in this story. In this post-Fifty Shades of Grey era, erotica has pushed its way into the forefront of fiction. Everyone seems to be delving into this pool; not everyone can do it well. This author has successfully managed to skillfully dip her toes into this steamy water.

I recommend Cuffs, especially to those readers who like novels with a little romance—and a good bit of erotica—coupled with some suspense. 3 ¾ stars

Sydney, Australia. Nikola Nik Maric (Euge’s brother, gangster, Balkan) had just whacked Mikey.
Big problem Lacey Maples (21, history, Sydney University, aka Angel) had witnessed the murder.
Euge Maric (gangster, boss, Balkan) wanted Detective Alex Petrov (New South Wales P/D, aka Alex Jansa, Balkan Power Ring) to find her ASAP & eliminate her also.

Will Detective Alex Petrov bring the thigs to justice?
Or will Lacey Maples get whacked also?
Fentanyl patches had a few of my former MH clients use that stuff. Hope it’s off the market.

Warning: This book is for adults only & contains extreme violence, adult content or expletive language &/or sexually explicit scenarios. It may be offensive to some readers.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very sexy book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written crime murder book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of very unique/colorful characters to keep track of. This could also make another great crime murder movie, or mini TV series. Not as bloody/gory & graphic as I like them but I will stall rate it at 5 stars.

Cuffs is the story of Alex-an undercover cop with the Sydney Police Dept and Lacey-a young University student studying History. The story begins with Lacey taking a shortcut because she is late for work and witnessing a murder. Trying to hide but failing, one of the men involved in the murder captures Lacey and cuffs her to a cement mixer. Lacey doesn't realize it but she is soon held hostage by Alex who is trying to protect her from the real criminals while he works to bring them to justice.
This read gets a solid 4 star rating from me. Alex's character was very well developed, as was Euge-the criminal boss. Lacey and the secondary characters weren't as well developed, but that may have been due to the relatively short nature of the book.
The editing was typical of an ARC, sentences broken and a few blank spaces, but that will be taken care of in the final draft. I would like to brag on the author/editors. I was very pleased to see the correct use of your/you're and they're/there/their. The author really nailed this and to me, its important. It makes the story stand out just a bit from some of the others in the genre.
My only wish for the read is that it was a bit longer and the characters a bit more developed. I did really enjoy it and look forward to more from the author. I will definitely recommend it to friends! 4**** wickedgoodstars -asw

So what do you do when someone notices you’ve just witnessed a murder? Well, run. Duh!! And should he be hot as hell and cuff you, hope he sticks to what he says and he’ll protect you. The best of two worlds: sexy cops and an alpha male (drools). The writing is fast paced, shows a humane side of a hard man who has been undercover for the past 10 months, and especially puts a priority to saving a woman he does not know simply to keep her alive. There were no dull moments and the chemistry is undeniable – I loved it! Being the first time that I read one of Georgie Tyler’s novels, after reading Cuffs, I doubt it will be my last.

Lacey takes a shortcut through on alley on her way to work...big mistake…she witnesses a murder and ends up being followed by one of the thugs. He catches up to her in a deserted construction site and handcuffs her to a cement mixer for safe keeping. He insists that he is protecting her, but she knows better than to trust a common criminal, so after he takes her back to his place for her safety, she sneaks away. In doing so she almost gets herself killed by another gangster.

Once Alex catches up with her in the alley after her escape she sees his eyes and her fear turns to desire and she begs him to give her what her body wants. Moments later she realizes that he is not only a stranger, but a crook and she can’t believe he turns her on so much.

Will she come to her senses in time? Will he be able to protect her from his boss?

This was a wonderful story and the characters are great. You do end up wanting to scream at Alex for not telling her the truth about why he is protecting her, but in the end this is a full story with an epilogue which gives a nice HEA and no cliffhanger!

Hero: Alex 5 stars
Heroine: Lacey 4.5 stars

3.5 stars rounded up to 4

The book really is a nice read.
Being rather on the short side, things may seem a little rushed in the way the main characters find each other, but on the other hand what I liked is that for such a format the book did not lack either in the plot or in the hot scenes. It is balanced and with a nice pace to it that makes it an enjoyable read.

Alex is an easy to love MC. Lacey switched a little bit too fast from the innocent farm girl to a sex-is-the-center-of-my-life girl ... but grabbing an opportunity makes sense !

4.5 suspenseful stars.

Romantic suspense was my preferred genre before finding erotica. Give me a suspenseful story, with a dose of sexy time, and I'm a happy reader. This story hit the spot on both accounts.

I'm not going to go into the plot and risk giving away spoilers, but I will say this, I really enjoyed the story and can't wait to see where the author takes the series.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley from Momentum Books for an honest review. I thought this book was great. From the beginning until the end the pacing was fast and full of action and suspense. Alex was a strong alpha character who had an edgy and protective side to him. Lacey had the right blend of strength and vulnerableness to not lead me to thinking she was a Stockholm syndrome victim. I'll definitely be looking into Georgie Tyler's other books.

Can someone really be a good person even though what you see is for show ? Well Lacey was on her way to work and took a sort cut in the back alley to try and sneak in when she happen to witness a murder. Trying to hide from the bad guys but Lacey moved and made a sound that let the bad guys hear her so she took off only to get caught by Alex the bad guys main man . But come to find out Alex said he was trying to protect her , thing was Lacey don't believe him yet .... Need to read this book

So I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from this book at first. I would only have been going off of the title and cover art and since both reflected the other and were self-explanatory...I was flying blind. I have to say, though, that I was intrigued by this book nearly from page one. Our heroine, Lacey, winds up being in the wrong place at the very wrong time and is witness to a murder. Once those mafia baddies realize not only that she saw the murder but got away, well she gets a price put on her pretty head. Enter Alex/Alexi, one of the henchman at and involved in to some degree, the incident she witnessed. He's sent by his bosses to go find and kill her. Our sexy man Alex has some secrets though. He is actually an undercover cop that was sent in to infiltrate the organization and bring them down. This should be good for Lacey but since he is just days from having what he needs to bring them down, he doesn't disclose to her who he is. That choice will be the source of headaches and trouble for him in the next few days because she refuses to listen to him.

So, Lacey is truly one smart and really resourceful girl. She has no intention of dying any time soon. As far as she knows, Alex is one of them. She can't comprehend why he decided to try to help her but she assumes it's self-serving and that she's still a dead woman at the end of this. That being said, Alex is genuinely trying to keep her alive. She doesn't know that though, so every time he tells her to do something she does the opposite. She winds up cuffed to his bed after her third escape attempt, and oh WOW do sparks ever fly. She wants Alex something awful but she doesn't want to want him. She does begin to suspect that he is actually on her side, but by then choices she makes lead to big problems for her and Alex.

Alex. Lol the poor man never stood a chance. For reasons that even he can't fathom, he is insanely attracted to her. She is undoubtedly a pretty major complication to the job that he's trying to do. He really does have the best intentions for her. He's trying every single thing he can think of to keep her alive and she outsmarts him at every turn. Now, to be completely fair, he is trusting her when he shouldn't because of his feelings, and that choice may lead to both of their deaths. He eventually realizes that she will bolt if given another chance so he handcuffs her to his bed. That may have initially been to keep her still but it has other unexpected benefits that they both explore.

At the end of the day, all of this- his association with the mafia as well as their feelings for each other-- will come to a head. I have to say this book completely kept me on my toes. There was always drama and excitement of some kind going on. The sexual chemistry between Alex and Lacey was off the charts. It was a very well written and thought out story. I maybe would have liked a little bit more out of the epilogue or even a setup for a book two or a novella. Otherwise it was an absolutely great read and one that I would happily recommend.

Cuffs,  Georgie Tyler
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre:  Romance, Erotica
Well, this is one of those bad choices on my part. To be fair I couldn’t find any info around to help me choose, and if I’d known it was so short – just 1710 kindle locations – then I’d have passed. But I didn’t, so read it and just couldn’t get into it. despite its brevity I skim read second half as I fond it hard going.
I love a sexy romance that’s got an element of suspense, and that’s what I expected here and to a degree that’s what it is but....I found it impossible that a professional such as Alex would act this way, make such a basic mistake, not only in what he did with her for the two days, but  the stupid error in then believing her when she says....well, you’ll see when you come to it.
I can’t take to insta love when she’s just seen a murder which Alex was involved with, and both Alex and Lacey just didn’t feel real to me, neither in their characters, or their actions. Would you get hot and heavy with a guy who’s gorgeous but you’ve literally just seen taking part in a backstreet vicious murder? Or more realistically would you be scared to death and thinking of anything but sex? We don’t know much about them as people, as there simply isn’t space to tell us, so we’re dropped straight in and need to pick it up from there. I just couldn’t see any reality here, it was just too simplistic, too stereotyped. If you don’t mind stories that stretch credulity to its extreme then you may enjoy it but for me it just didn’t work.
I’ve really enjoyed works from all three authors mentioned, and that was one of the things that hooked me to this story.  I just can’t find anything in common with this book and their works though. Kylie Scott is one of my favourite romance authors and her main series is a four part rock band romance, all full length stories, with two zombie novels comprising the rest – none of which seem to be in any way similar to this.
Stars:Two, sorry a pass from me.  As ever this is just my personal view and of course others will feel very differently.

People say ‘curiosity killed the cat’ and maybe they’re right, because this book KILLED ME. It’s short, suspenseful and sexy, and the lead characters were divine! I enjoyed the quick read with a cup of coffee in a cold afternoon, because there’s nothing better to improve a bad day that a sexy scene with a set of cuffs, an alpha hero and a sassy heroin. It was my first time reading the author and I didn’t know what to expect, and despite at some point the story became predictable I loved the author’s writing and the characters interactions so much. This book is part of a series, but it can be read as standalone.

This book was a little slow at first but then it picked up towards the middle. I enjoyed it, however it wasn't the greatest book I've read. I liked the characters and there was funny banter between them which was amusing. The make out scenes were scorching and well written. There were some places where I didn't really want to finish the book. I think the author could have made it a little shorter and developed the relationship between the main characters more.

Alex and Lacey were two strong characters thrown into a world full of deceit and criminal behaviour. The two characters shone in their antics in a story full of action, suspense and the chemistry between Alex and Lacey was awesome and funny - reminded this reader a little of the Stephanie Plum and Joe Morelli hi-jinx :D

Lacey has just seen a murder and Alec was part of it. Yet he cuffs her and says he is protecting her. The attraction between them is very strong.
I just don’t understand how Lacey could forget Alec was a part of a murder. Also Alec was not a very good professional to allow Lacey to be a witness. Just didn’t jive for me.

An interesting concept, but the actualization wasn't carried out quite as well as I'd hoped. A short that kept me interested, but I don't know that I could have read more...insta-love is hard to pull off. All in all, not that enticing.
