She’s no stranger to love and loss… By age eighteen, Alexa Kingsley had lost everyone. Only Joey, the lonely boy next door, remained. He’d clung to Alexa like a lifeline through years of abuse at the hands of his father, and she vowed to protect him as best she could. Alexa thought Joey was the one person who’d always be there—until the day he left her as well. Finally forced to go it alone, Alexa finds this latest loss may hurt worst of all. He’s no stranger to lack of love… Joseph O’Connor was every bit the villain his father trained him to be, his young heart twisted into something ugly, corrupted. But his father underestimated the girl next door, miscalculated the impact Lexi would have on Joey’s life, the spark she ignited that eventually, despite all odds, grew to an inferno of hope. To reclaim her, Joey must first become a man Lexi can be proud of…the kind of man she deserves. Amidst a shadowy world of guns and drugs, will Joey’s ultimate sacrifice—a declaration of love from a man who was never shown any at all—be enough to finally set him free?

An emotional beautiful read

Oh gods I have stalked this author and this book right from the get go, freaking love this author and her writing style, the dark, the emotions, the grit, all things that make this one of my favourite authors..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The synopsis for this speaks volumes, I hope both characters can find happiness from their traumatic childhoods.

The beginning of the book speaks of Joey's horrific childhood, his conditioning under the thumb of his abusive father. Years and years of unimaginable abuse..

Growing up in a battlefield Lexi gave me tenderness and love simply by holding my hand through a fence.

“Always, Joey. I’ll never let go.”

He promised me a future, one where he was a good man and worthy of me, as if I needed those things. I didn't. I only wanted my Joey, the way he was, is. I only wanted to finally start a life.

I chose to end things between us for good

It wasn’t easy to walk away from Joey. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life, but I had to do it, for myself.

To now, where the previous book ended..

Joey ~ My father turned my affection into ugliness. My mother's ferar for my safety kept her at a distance, and my fear for her sanity pushed me away.

She knows all of me my ugliest parts

Fucking love this author, I've loved this whole series it just sucks you in, I especially loved these two characters, reading the interaction between these two you feel their friendship, their pain, their loss and their love, and I freaking love all those feels!! I love an author who can bring emotions out of me just by words written in a book..And this author does that for me time and time again, she never disappoints..This was like a rollercoaster on speed with the feels that kept coming at me..

I'm off to stalk the author to see what else she is going to bring us readers!!

My father taught me to always be the stronger one, to make those around me bow down through fear

This book is for you if… you’re a firm believer in “well, I got this far in the series, I might as well finish it”. If you want closure, you'll get it, but it's not the wild stuff you're used to in this series.

Overall.
Neither is there nor do I wish there were a nice way to say how much of a disappointment this book was to me. The first book, You Loved Me at My Darkest , took me by surprise. Judging by the synopsis, I didn't expect much from a book an author put up for free on amazon. I'd had too many bad experiences by then. Pretty much the same applies to the sequel. Both had so much butterflies-in-my-stomach and heart-beating-out-of-my-chest moments I didn't know what to do with myself sometimes.

Not so You Loved Me At My Ugliest. While I appreciated the insights we get into Lexi and Joey's relationship, I realised early on that this would not be the nerve-wracking ride I expected it to be. It's not a terrible book by any means. The story certainly made sense and offered a nice conclusion to the business aspects of 'The Collection' and that's why I finished the book. I wanted closure and I got it, all the while having a peek into what Evie would do after the You Loved Me series.

What’s happening.
‘I decided in that moment I will be Joey’s friend. I will be his first.’

Despite all the struggle and domestic violence that is torturing Joey's childhood, it would turn out to be a lucky accident that Alexa grew up next to the O'Connor family. All the abusive behaviour in the world isn't able to break the bond the two young children form. The bond that would grow into something so powerful no cartel, no human trafficking business, and not a million miles could come between the two.

3 STARS.Decent read that I have neither strongly positive nor negative feelings about. Some things irked me and thus it does not qualify as exceptional.

2 STARS.Definitely a disappointment. It might not even have been worth finishing for a variety of reasons.

When I first read You Loved Me At My Darkest by Evie Harper, I was taken on one of hell of an emotional, heartbreaking, and touching journey that was able to grip my heart when it showcased that love can cast away the darkest moments in our life. And in You Loved Me At My Weakest, Evie once again takes her readers on one gripping, poignant, profound and touching journey of salvation and healing. In true raw fashion, Ms. Harper was able to capture our hearts with the message that love can heal. And now in her third and final installment, You Loved Me At My Ugliest, we are taken down on a different kind of journey. It is a journey where love is tested at our darkest, weakest, and ugliest. If you are fan of the series like myself then we have witnessed Lily and Jake at their darkest, Kanye and Emily at their weakest, and now we will finally see Joseph and Lexi at their ugliest.

#YouLovedMeAtMyUgliest

You Loved Me At My Ugliest was a compelling, poignant, touching, and yet a beautiful journey that showcases the many facets and shades of love. A broken kind of love. A heartbreaking love. A family's love. A love between friends. And a tangible love between two soul mates. In this emotional and raw story of love, Ms. Harper has so eloquently delivered a gripping tale that it's not about the perfect kind of love, but a forever kind of love of accepting our ugliest parts.

At a young age, Joseph O' Conner experienced the ugliest kind of life. He knew what it meant to have your life ripped from you from a monster. As a child, we look to our parents to protect us but what happens when your father is the monster who constantly beats you till you have nothing but darkness clouding your soul and heart. Joey knew what it meant to live in a hell. He experienced it everyday from the hands of his father. He breathed and lived the emotional and physical abuse throughout his childhood in order to protect his mother. In his ugliest moment, there was one thing that kept him alive and hoping for a better future and that was Lexi. When he met her, she was his shining light, hope, salvation and true love. She was the woman who loved him from the beginning. So when Lexi and Joey met, their lives and hearts were forever intertwined with one another. It was a tangible bond that could not be destroyed. So what happens when Joey had to leave her behind in order to protect her? Can Lexi forget and move on?

Ms. Harper really did take her readers on another gripping and emotional journey. My heart went out to Lexi and Joey because this couple really went through hell and back to get their happily ever after. I loved when an author can make you feel and this book was dripping with the FEELS from hurt, anger, resentment, jealousy, hate, revenge, heartbreak, loss, healing, and love. What I loved about this book was that no one was perfect but through the power of perseverance and love, a broken person can be made whole. It was just a matter finding the right person who is willing to piece back the broken the pieces and heal the ugliest parts. And for Joey, it was Lexi. I really don't want to say much since this book is about experiencing a journey between two soul mates who are given their second chance at love and happily ever after. All I can say is this book will shatter your heart, but slowly Ms. Harper will slowly mend the pieces back. So if you looking for a series that shows love can conquer the darkest, weakest, and ugliest moments in our life, then I highly recommend you to read the You Loved Me Series.

I just want to thank Evie Harper for bringing life to her characters: Lily, Jake, Kanye, Emily, Lexi, and Joey. Thank you for that beautiful epilogue and telling their story of love, redemption, salvation, and hope. I look forward to reading Dom and Della's story and of course William's story. Evie- you already caught my attention and has me begging for William's story because there is nothing like reading a broken man who finds love and so his book is definitely my anticipated read of 2016.

Re-read 5/16/17

stars-4.png (5685×1019):

This is the third book in this series and I enjoyed each and every one of them. I however made the stupid mistake of reading books 2 and 3 first, because....I am an idiot like that sometimes. These books are best read in order, starting with book 1, because even though each one is about a different couple, they do have a continuing storyline. So learn from my mistake and follow my advice ;)

636220269415715925-648539800_superior-wisdom.gif (499×288)

Alexa and Joey have been intoduced in book 1 and in book, we get to know them even better. Now we finially get their story, which I must say....I was really curious about.

Alexa (Alex) and Joseph (Joey) have known each other for a very long time. When Alexa is young, she loses her parents and has to go live with her aunt. This is when she meets Joey....the young boy who lives next door and who is being abused. She wants to help him, and her first step in doing so, is to reach through the fence separting their houses and hold his hand. At that point a wonderful friendship is born.

o-NOT-HOLDING-HANDS-facebook.jpg (2000×1000):

Joey doesn't have anything good in his life. His father is a very cold, cruel and evil man, who wants Joey to follow into his footsteps. Joey's life was hell and the only thing he has going for him is Alexa.

Their friendship grows into much more, but Joey's world is a dark place and he doesn't want Alex to be a part of that darkness.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor you are better of without me + gif

Alexa really loved Joey, he was all she had left in the world. She would have done anything for him, but how much pushing away can one person take...before they've had enough...

tumblr_npqea655dw1u8lpcyo1_500.gif (500×260)

Alex finally has enough and tries to move on with her life...without Joey in it. She can't take being second choice to everything else anymore...

Joey had his reasons for leaving though....Question is, will he be able to win her back, when he is finally ready to leave the past behind.

This couple went through hell and back, and just like with the other two books, I couldn't help but shed some some tears.

If you are a fan of emotional and, at times very dark love-stories, you should definitely give this series a try.

This was an amazing conclusion to the series! The dark and extremely dramatic trilogy comes to an end with the tale of Joseph and Alexa!
Our characters have to fight their past and their future in order to make it through happy and alive.
What grabbed me most about this book were the flashbacks we had throughout the story. We got to see how Joseph met Lexi and how their bond was created. We got to experience the terrors Joey had to go through since he was a child.
Alexa’s relationship with young Joseph broke my heart and the way their love endured hardships spoke to my soul.
The series was addictive and emotional and this book is no exception. We get to see glimpses of our other beloved couples from the series as well.
The writing was flawless and the characters were well-rounded and developed. You can feel the love that burns between our couple and their chemistry and need to be together brought tears to my eyes.
Fantastic read! If you loved the other books in the series, then you don’t want to miss this one.

5 Beautiful and Emotional Stars

You loved me at my Ugliest is the 3rd and final book in Evie Harper's "You Loved me Series". All three books can be read as a standalone but are best read in order.

This book is Joey and Alexa's story. The story begins with a lot of background information about both Joey and Alexa when they were children and flips back and forth from past to present. Alexa grew up next door to Joey and was witness to the horrific childhood abuse he endured. As a result they became friends and lovers as their relationship grew. I loved Alexa's character; she is strong, beautiful, brave and totally devoted to Joey. Joey was also amazing and truly loves Alexa but needs to find his own inner peace in order to feel he is worthy of Alexa.

"When pain is all you’ve ever known, how do you accept that you deserve good in your life?"

The writing is excellent. I was able to feel the emotion and a connection to the characters as I was reading. The story is engaging; I felt like I was there as the story played out. I highly recommend this series. You won`t be disappointed.

“I didn’t drop your hand, Joey, you ripped it away from me. You chose something else. You never put me, us, first, and I’d had enough. You can’t always be the one dictating where our relationship is or where it should be. That’s not fair. Relationships are about compromise, both sides agreeing. You decided for the both of us.”

You Loved Me At My Ugliest is Joseph and Alexa’s story. Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I have been curious about their story ever since I first met these characters. And boy does their story not disappoint. This story first starts off with a glimpse into the past. We get to see how Alexa and Joseph first meet and how over the years their relationship has changed and grown. Joseph’s family life was extremely difficult. He had a father who treated him horribly and a mother who would never leave his father. The only light in his darkness was Alexa. Alexa knows love and loss better than anyone. By the time she reached her 18th birthday, she had no one left. No one expect for Joseph. Alexa loved Joseph like no other and even followed him to the depths of hell. She would do anything for this man that she loved. However, every person has their breaking point and Alexa has finally reached hers. Alexa is forced to go it alone and it rocks her to her very core. Alexa is trying desperately to move on, but it’s not so easy. Joseph will always own her heart, no matter how much pain he’s caused her. Unbeknownst to her, Joseph is working hard to secure their future. He wants to be the man that Alexa deserves and will do anything to give them a safe and happy future.

You Loved Me At My Ugliest was a wonderful addition to this series. I was caught up in Lexi and Joey’s story from the very beginning. The bond that the two of them shared was so strong, so powerful. You just wanted things to work out for them. I felt so bad for Joey. He had such an awful upbringing and he really struggled with the decisions that he made. None of them were easy, especially when it came to Lexi. He loved her something fierce and would do anything for her. I loved getting to see this side of Joey. And Lexi, boy is she stronger than most would give her credit for. She has seen and experienced things that no one should and yet, she is still going strong. She tries so hard to move on from Joey after he breaks her heart, but their love was one to not be smothered. I loved seeing her go after Joey and seeing her stand by him when most would walk away.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. I thought it was well written and captivating. I loved finally getting to see Joey and Alexa’s story. Their story is not easy. It’s heartbreaking and frustrating and beautiful all at the same time. I loved getting to see how everything finally came together, and how all the previous stories connected. There was never a dull moment. I really enjoyed all the twists. Even though Joey and Alexa’s story wraps up the You Loved Me Series, it does pave the way for a few spin off series’ and I’m really excited about that. I can’t wait to see where this author will take us next.

So the beginning with their childhoods was rushed and so I couldn’t connect to them. I felt like the author was telling me things about them but not letting me FEEL them. It is very important to use wording that gets me to the bones of the character and they didn’t feel right to me.

"Life gives you choices, but love, love only has one road, and it’s paved with sacrifice.”

Evie Harper once again delivers the angst on a silver platter, so much so, that you're bound to feel it through the pages.

Joey has lived in his father's shadow for as long as he can remember. Having to be forced to be like him and act like him. But Joey despises his father. He witnessed his cruelty at the age of 8 the moment he beat and belittled his mother; the only person in the world who has ever shown him love. Joseph plays his part to save his mother but the moment he meets Alexa Kingsley he's on his knees worshiping the ground she walks on. He'd kill and torture for that woman. She becomes the strength he needs to finally fight against the monster that is Marco O'Connor and the new threats that take his place.

"When pain is all you've ever known, how do you accept that you deserve good in life?"

Alexa has loved Joey all her life. He's been a part of her since she was 10 years old but love wasn't enough. Alexa felt Joey always put her last, wondering when he would finally choose her first. But Joey had his reasons, reasons that were hard for anyone to understand unless you were in his shoes.

Alexa is loyal, sassy, and stunning. She's a woman that could easily rule the world and she fought to save those women that were being sold and beaten because of Marco. She was the doctor that oversaw the women's health, but after being beaten for trying to help two slave girls escape, she finally had enough of that world and she ran away.

Joseph never gave up on finding her. He'd scorch the Earth and turn it upside down just to have her in his arms once again. Oh man I can go on and on about this couple and never tire. They went from being childhood friends to lovers. A beautiful love that was ugly at times.

"My heart splits in two as I lie next to a good man who adores me, yet here I am, crying for another man. However, not just any man, someone I have loved all my life, a man who is ingrained into my soul, someone who will always be a part of me, no matter the different paths we take."

I wanted Joseph's story from the moment I met him lurking in the corner of Marco's office in book 1. And let me tell you, Evie did not disappoint! Joey owns my heart and my soul *heart-in-eyes emoji*

This being the last book in the series, Evie sure saved the best for last. She managed to piece it all together perfectly and give these amazing characters the happiness they all deserve.

After a grueling 3 days of tears, smiles, and feels I can rest easy knowing this series will always have a special place in my heart. You Loved Me At My Ugliest was especially heartbreaking, gut wrenching, and beautiful. Thank you, Evie for giving me the opportunity to be a part of these characters journey's.

"This world may be a dark and bitter place, but in its most precious corners, where my family lives, we make our own happily-ever-afters. We fight and die for them, because true love and real happiness are worth fighting for."

After looking forward to reading Joseph and Alexa’s story, I’m sorry to say that I actually wound up a bit disappointed. Knowing the roles the two of them have played so far in the series, I was intrigued to find out how everything between them would end up. So, here’s the good and the not-so-good for me…

Joseph. No matter his past, and no matter what he goes back to his family to do-he is solidly in my “good” column. He’s been through so much, but still remains strong, protective, and truly dedicated to Alexa—even if she doesn’t realize it. Alexa. For the first half of the book, I’ve got her in that column as well. Her determination and resiliency are inspiring, if a bit ill-advised. But as the rest of the story unfolds, she becomes willing to stay in a “family” that is basically made up of criminals so Joseph can have his own blood family that they can build a life around.

Behavior like that, willingly staying in an illegal environment to participate in that…I cannot relate to or condone it, and I find it disturbing that someone I initially saw as a heroine based on her past actions would readily accept that kind of life. Blood relatives or not, they still have Jake, Lily, Emily and Kayne back home that accept them as family—all friends who have lived through a shared horror and made their way out of that darkness, rebuilding their lives with help from one another, and who would most certainly include Joseph and Alexa in their family as well.

While the first two books of the series dealt with the ordeal the characters lived through with The Collection, everything that came after the destruction of that, and how they dealt with returning to their lives after the atrocity they escaped, in this story we’re taken down a different path. To me, it made it feel like this story really wasn’t a part of the same series…more like it was a setup to the other series by this author (whether it is or not). It didn’t have the same feel as the first two books, and at times the situations seemed dubious and a bit over the top, leaning too much toward a mafia-type story than the disturbing, dark contemporary romance the series started out as.

For me, this was my least favorite book in the series, with the only bright spot being Joseph as well as Nick. I could only muster 2.5 stars for this one.

Evie Harper delivers angst in a way that makes you crave, desire, and yearn for the agony that will run continuously throughout your body from beginning to end!

"When pain is all you’ve ever known, how do you accept that you deserve good in your life?"

Alexa knows two things very well and that's love and loss. All her life she has experienced both in the most beautifully aching ways. Losing her parents and brother in a car accident caused by a drunk driver, she moves in with her aunt Ash. Next door the little boy's wretched screams break her heart and she can't stop herself from following those noises that takes her to Joseph. Lexi befriends Joey which leads to a passionate love affair that no man, no amount of blood being shed, or ruthless acts could destroy. No one or nothing, but her Joey when he walks away from her leaving her heartbroken.

"My life has never been normal, safe, or even remotely what I dreamed it would be. It’s been both horrible and wonderful, both parts Joey, both parts me. I can’t let him go."
"My heart slams against my chest as it begs to be freed, to run to the one it wants."

Forced to push his mother away and take care of himself at an early age, Joseph is manipulated and abused. He finds comfort in the young girl next door. She offered everything freely Joey's father had forbidden in their home. Lexi became his reason for living, but even after his father's death he couldn't find peace. He wants to become a better man, for Alexa and will eliminate anyone who threatens their future. Walking away to do just that becomes the only way for Joey, even if it means breaking the woman who has always given him love.

"My father turned my affection into ugliness. My mother's fear for my safety kept her at a distance, and my fear for her sanity pushed me away. My father worked us perfectly to his advantage. He made sure I would never taste a life of freedom from the O’Connor name. Unloved and incapable of loving others, I slowly became dead inside, but my father didn't see Alexa coming. He didn’t know the impact she would have on my life. Growing up in a battlefield, Lexi gave me tenderness and love simply by holding my hand through a fence."

Alexa is fiercely loyal in every way, shape, and form. Joseph is possessive, an alpha through and through. Together these two are more than two lovers, they are family. This is a story about the lengths that people will go to for the people they love. Both characters take dangerous risks, putting not only their hearts but their lives on the line. They show us that though love can sometimes be tainted by the ugliness and harsh reality of the world, it can also be saved and will come out more beautiful than ever.

"I claim her mouth, this kiss and her heart. Forever."
"Never let go.”

From the first moment, Joey was mentioned in YLMAMD I wanted to know more about the son of Marco O'Connor. In YLMAMW I was intrigued by the relationship between him and Alexa. Their connection was sparks blazing from an open fire and I was engrossed in them, in their love, and their future.

This was the last book in the You Loved Me Series and what an ending it was! Evie Harper brings Lexi and Joseph 's story full circle as well as Jake and Lily's and, Kayne and Emily's. YES, there is happily ever after's after the after's in their books! Not only does she put our hearts back together after a series that has caused me bloodshot eyes, but she sets up her secondary characters perfectly.

This entire series has completely taken over my life the last three days, captivating me completely. You Loved Me At My Ugliest is a heart and soul clenching novel wrapped up in an ugly world where men fight for power. This is a series with characters flawlessly written by an author that I will never let go!

---
"Love can be many things, but most importantly, it’s about sacrifice, surrendering your faith to the other person, praying they love you enough so that in the end, you both get your happily ever after."

"Life gives you choices, but love, love only has one road, and it’s paved with sacrifice.”

"This world may be a dark and bitter place, but in its most precious corners, where my family lives, we make our own happily-ever-afters. We fight and die for them, because true love and real happiness are worth fighting for."

**JOSIE'S 4.5 STAR REVIEW**

Let me start off by saying I absolutely love this series and the author. Ever since I read book 1 in this series I was a goner. The writing, plot and characters have sucked me in each and every time and this one was no different. Throughout this series we got bits and pieces of Joey and Lexa, their incredible and powerful friendship, their loss and finally their love. I could not wait to get their story.

You Loved Me at My Ugliest is a mesmerizing, touching, deeply moving trip into redemption and recovery. Just like in her other books, Ms. Harper won my heart delivering a message that true love can accomplish anything. Joey and Lexa’s love will be tested in their saddest, most fragile and unpleasant moments.

You Loved Me at My Ugliest is about a broken love. One the deals with heartbreak, family loyalty, friendship and a solid love between two people. This love story is not perfect and if you followed this series you know that Joey’s family, The O’Connor’s, deal with human and drug trafficking but this fascinating story deals with true unconditional love. One that will stand the test of time, distance and pain regardless of all the ugly it leaves behind.

Joey’s life as a child was a very ugly and violate one. He and his mother were constantly beaten at the hands of the very man who was supposed to protect them, his father.

He and his mother lived in hell every day of their lives for years. They both experienced emotional and extreme physical abuse, but Joey would suffer the most to make sure his mother was not hurt. Through his years of torture, the brightest moments of his life came from his 10 year old neighbor, Alexa. Their time together gave him hope and was a form of escape. What followed over years turned into love between the two. Lexa loved him even during his worse times.

Alexa did not live the same life as Joey, but she lost both her parents at a young age and had to go live with her aunt. But with her Aunt she had love, a home and found a friendship with the boy, Joey next door. At a young age, we’re able to see the bond and connection they had. When she would hear Joey and his mother screaming in agony she would always try to be there for her friend. There was nothing Lexa wouldn’t do for Joey. I loved that their love and solid connection between them could not be broken. When Joey was forced to work in the family business she followed him to Columbia to be there for him, even after she was hurt. When Joey decides he needs to go Mexico to put an end to the family business, Lexa has had enough coming in last, and Joey leaves a broken Alexa behind.

This couple really played on my emotions. They both love each other, but Joey’s ugly past refuses to let them be happy. Lexa will go the ends of the earth for Joey even when he keeps putting her last and all Joey wants to do is keep her safe from his demons. Lexa is hurt, annoyed and feels betrayed and wants to move on. Even when her heart only sees Joey. Joey is a man dead set on revenge, hate and anger but when he sees proof that Alexa might have really moved on, jealously, rage and regret become his focus.

You Loved Me At My Ugliest is about a love that is not perfect, it is ugly but with real love, determination and commitment LOVE WILL COME OUT ON TOP. A rivalry is brewing and Lexa might be the next casualty? How much is Joey willing to risk for revenge? Will Lexa be too late to save Joey? Lives will be lost, secrets will be revealed and a new danger is in the horizon.

My Rating: 4.5
I have no words for this story and its previous parts. The whole series is just amazing. Though, I am a hard person to cry while reading (but I easily cry while watching anything emotional), this book made me cry a little, which didn't happen for me for the previous books in the series.

This book is a continuation to the previous books in the series. Though it can be read as a standalone, it is advisable to read the previous ones, to get a proper background details of the whole story.

This is the story of Joseph (Joey) and Alexa (Lexi). Both are in love with each other from their childhood. They had a dark past and both promised each other to 'Never let go' and try to live forward in their lives by leaving their past behind.

Joey is haunted by his father who gave him a very dreadful childhood. Alexa lost her whole family at a very young age. Both these broken pieces find love and piece in each other.

But the path for future is not easy, as Joey is haunted by his uncle after the death of his father. Joey wants to create a safe world and future for his girl Lexi, while all what lexi want is to be beside him, in all the ups and downs. Will they be together ever after all their differences? Will they be able to move forward by leaving their past behind? Will there be any 'happily ever after' for them? Will Alexa be able to make Joey a good man and make him stay with her?

The author, Evie Harper, has done a fabulous job with the whole story. There is no part in the story where you feel dragged down. The story is fast-paced, not wasting any time. It keeps the readers hooked to their places and they crave for more. In each scene you can feel yourself there. The emotions portraited seems so real, as if you are living their lives. You never get a feeling that you are not connecting anymore and so you should stop reading this. Never, not once.

The story, though, at the end, makes you think about the next batch of stories to come. I can'wait to read the story of O'connor brothers: Alexander, Matthew and William. Also I'm eager to read the story of Dom, the fourth person Jake's childhood group.

I loved the writing style of the author, as it is easy and flowing. This series is a must read for every romantic-suspense genre lover.

ANOTHER ah-maaazing story by Evie Harper! Joey and Lexi's journey was intense, suspenseful, and heart breaking. Within the first few chapters, I was a ball of emotions! Joey's childhood was nothing short of tragic. To read about his life growing up with a monster gave a clear picture of who Joey was and of the inner demons he faced. Lexi, as a child struggling with the loss of her parents, was the light to his darkness. Despite their connection at an early age, life and love was not always easy for them as we read in You Loved Me At My Darkest, Lily and Jake's story.

"Our passion bound us together, but our love is why I will sin for this man, why I will always be by his side." ~Lexi

When Joey and Lexi are reunited, all hell breaks loose. Ties are broken and a love is lost. Betrayal and heart break take their toll on Joey and Lexi, but together with their friends and family, they are able to withstand the evil that wages war on their happiness.

"When pain is all you've ever known, how do you accept that you deserve good in your life? And Lexi is so much more than just goodness;she's pure happiness for me." ~Joey

I loved this book! Evie Harper has stolen my heart with this series. Joey and Lexi's story along with Lily's epilogue, was a beautiful conclusion to this amazing set of novels. Every story has been written with a gripping storyline and lovely characters that you can't help but fall for. In Joey and Lexi's story, we are lead back to the Portland Street Kings and introduced to the O'Connor Brothers. I love how Evie has brilliantly weaved these stories together, yet they can be read as stand-alone novels. Why anyone would not want to read them all, is beyond me, because they are ALL must reads! Although I am sad to see this series come to an end, I can not wait to read what Evie writes next! If you haven't read any of the You Loved Me series or began the Portland Street Kings with Collision, what are you waiting for?!

"Never let go."

An amazing beautiful ending to a heart breaking series. Evie Harper is so good at making the reader cry that you don't realize it till the tears are falling down to your kindle. This series has been so amazing and quite the roller coaster of emotions. YLMAMU doesn't disappoint. From the first line I was crying for the poor little boy Joey and the crappy horrible life he led till one day he met his soul mate in a little girl named Alexa. She loved him unconditionally and wanted to protect him because no one else would. She stood by him thru thick and thin for over 20 years until she had enough. Has Joey lost Alexa because he's not willing to put her first despite the consequences? Can Alexa forgive Joey and stand by him no matter what? These two soul mates deserve their HEA. Evie Harper takes the reader on a journey thru the lives of Joey and Alexa from the day they first met up to present day. There were many heart breaking scenes, beautiful unconditional love, hot sex, scary hang on the edge of your seat, and a amazing ending. There are many familiar faces that pop in and out in this journey with some hints and future crossovers to other series. I loved every second of this emotional journey and can't wait for more from the fabulous writer Evie Harper

Favorite Quotes:

“It’s hard not to love her. She’s annoying adorable. I want to squish her cheeks all the time.”

“Joey gives me a peaceful, childlike smile, one, which both breaks and puts my heart back together all at the same time.”

“Most times it’s parents who gift a child with life, but in mine, Lexi, you were the one who gave me life.”

My Review:

A satisfying conclusion to a dark and taut series that covered a variety of gritty, dark, and uncomfortable topics and practices from our society’s seamy underbelly. Ms. Harper traversed the debauched and depraved practices of ruthless men as well as the debilitating effects on the broken women with agility. She squeezed my heart and had me cringing, flinching, and biting my nails more than a few times during this suspenseful and steamy 740 page trilogy. The coinciding love stories and sensual scenes were a welcome and needed respite from the violence, cruelty, and tension emanating from the brutal and vile characters of the O’Conners. After concluding this heavy and intense series, I am planning on putting down my kindle for a nice leisurely walk while holding hands with my sweet Mochi Man.

I can't explain how much I have loved this series and to have had the pleasure to read and review the wonderful book.
The story of Joseph and Alexa is so amazing. Two souls meeting as children and trying to make a life together but its not easy for either of them.
Alexa is a doctor and has been held doing a job for a man that she loathes until he dies at the hand of Joseph his son so now can she rebuild her life.
Joseph has removed his father from his life but there is still more family out there just as evil.
Now he feels he needs to remove the rest of them. Can he take on his uncle and three cousins and come out of it alive... so much can happen!
Really looking forward to more from Evie Harper she is an amazing author
