Karthikayil Padmanabhan Appan (August 25, 1936 – December 14, 2008), better known as K. P. Appan, was a renowned literary critic in Malayalam. Born in Alappuzha (Alleppey), Kerala, Appan worked as a Professor of Malayalam literature at S N College, Kollam, Kerala. In 2008, K. P. Appan won the Kendra Sahithya Academy Award for his collection of essays in Malayalam, Madhuram Ninte Jeevitham
It's a fun-filled journey through Appan's yesteryear, laced with fabulous anecdotes and brilliant commentaries on some of the classic works. Appan's confrontations, if i may call it so, with some of the biggies in the Malayalam literary circle, is worth relishing. Appan doesn't mince words and I kind of got the feeling that he has earned his bragging rights. Appan's arrogance is well matched by his intellect. Awesome read.
