It’s been three months since Daisy last solved a case. She has managed to complete six jobs as an interior designer without any dead bodies popping up. Things were going well with her boyfriend Gavin and she even managed to get three lottery numbers perhaps her luck was changing.
Daisy next job takes her to a French restaurant whose arrogant owner is founded stabbed in the back. Even before she starts, she quickly finds he has numerous enemies before she even steps inside the restaurant.
Once again Daisy steps in with the blessing of the local law enforcement. With numerous suspects, she must weed out who the real killer and their true motive before she finds herself the next victim when she gets too close to the truth.
Another winner as Daisy gets herself involved in more than her interior designing. A quick easy read that moves along.
This is only the second in the series I've read and it's already starting to grind on my nerves. The story progression was so similar to the first one I read that at the end I actually wondered if I'd heard several of the exact same lines before. And Daisy is becoming terribly irritating with her bullying tactics and complete disregard for the law.
Donna Soto does a great job narrating. I like the different accents.
**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
KM Morgan does it again!!! I absolutely love this series!!! I can't seem to put it down when I get to a new book! Daisy is such a relatable & likable character, you can't help but love her. I have even gotten my 11yr old daughter into the series as she, like me, just can't put them down. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!!!
Somehow Daisy seems to find herself in the middle of a murder investigation once again. With a little help from her boyfriend and a different attitude of the police officer she once again sets out to solve the crime. She always goes about it in her own way, with her favorite cupcakes to keep her company. K.M. Morgan has written another thoroughly enjoyable book. Looking forward to the next one.
I chose to listen to this book after receiving a free audio copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
Daisy McDare & the Deadly Restaurant Affair is a novella with a listening time of a little over 3 hours. It’s the sixth book in the Daisy McDare cozy mystery series.
Daisy is an interior decorator but it seems that every time she turns around, she’s solving a murder instead. It’s not something she really wants to do, but she can’t turn her back on a murder. This time, the owner of a restaurant hires her to redecorate his restaurant, but he winds up dead before she can get started.
Luckily, after all of the murders that Daisy has solved, the local detective has finally decided to work with Daisy. There are several people who are suspects and, sadly, most of them are happy that the victim was murdered.
The narrator, Donna Soto, was okay. Her timing is good, but in this story, the voices weren’t as distinct as I’d like. Many of the characters had the same voices. It would have been easier to listen to if she’d just used the same voice throughout the story.
I recommend Daisy McDare & the Deadly Restaurant Affair to anyone who likes cozy mysteries and quick reads. I think I’d prefer the e-book of these novellas though. I’m looking forward to more of the Daisy McDare series.
This is the second book in this series I have read--out of order as usual. But don't worry this can really be read as a stand alone,
Although Daisy is an interior decorator she seems to be a really good detective as well! Even the police chief asks for her help in solving the current murder. Actually it was her client who was murdered-oh well-there went that money down the drain!
This client was a really miserable human being with a lot of enemies! It was difficult for Daisy to figure it all out--but she does! Of course she eats lots and lots of donuts and ends up asking her boyfriend for a bit of help----
This book will have you laughing that is for sure--in between trying to figure out what Daisy will do next!
Daisy McDare and the Deadly Reasturant Affair (Daisy McDare #6), my seventh read/listen from author K.M. Morgan, although I own sixteen of her books I’d never gotten around to reading one until I read The Deadly Floral Affair. Each book has been better than the one before. Another cute, well-written clean cozy mystery. Since I own both the Kindle & Audible editions I was able to read along while listening. Narrator Caroline Shively talented narration added to the book's enjoyment. Narrator Caroline Shively talented narration added to the book's enjoyment. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review. This was an collection of the Daisy McDare cozy mysteries. Books 5-11 this being book 6. I am rating them as I go because there is no collection with all these books in it. Donna Soto is the narrator for this collection and she does a fair job. Her voice doesn't really hold my attention but she does read the book well. This story had Daisy remodeling a restaurant. It was a cute story. I enjoyed the idea of Daisy an interior decorator bringing this restaurant more up to date.
I really appreciate the way the motivation of all the suspects is made clear while making the identity of the murder victim crystal clear! Along with that there is the subtle background info on the other important characters that makes it easy to hop right in whether you've read others in the series recently or not. Add in a good and twisty plot in a book length that is conducive to multi tasking and that makes it a real winner. Especially if you have the audio narrated by Donna G Soto who nails it!
Another good one in the Daisy McDare series. Daisy had a strong sense of loyalty to friends, quick to investigate, and catches the culprit every time. Her relationship with her boyfriend keeps her a little grounded. The clues to the suspect were there to follow if one pays attention. The narration by Donna G Soto, as with the others in this series, was wonderful. The voices are different enough to know when characters change, and she adds excitement, regret, love when appropriate.
I received a copy of this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
Cozy Creek is a quiet town, except when it's not! Daisy McDare is the interior decorator there and is taking on a project at the local French restaurant. She is excited for the job, but the owner, Adam, is quite arrogant. When he shows up stabbed in the back, Daisy makes it her mission to find out who had a reason to kill him and actually committed the crime. I love these shorts. They are easy to read, have such fun, quirky characters and leave me satisfied. Just enough to make me think, and help solve the case. Donna G Soto brings it all alive with her continued narration of the series.
An interesting cozy mystery focused around two rival restaurants, the employees who are all interconnected to one another, resulting in one of them being murdered, and the others being suspected of the crime. This is the second book I've read from this series, and while I liked this one better than book #3, it was still a bit too drawn out for me. The writing is good though. I've read other books by K.M Morgan and have enjoyed them immensely. I will definitely try other series and books by this author.
Daisy McDare never has a shortage of suspects when she investigates a case and this time is no exception. The one thing she also has on this case is the Detective on the case asking for help!
Daisy is hired by the owner of a French restaurant to redecorate. Before she knows it he is murdered and she has to sort through suspects to find the killer.
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
When Daisy McDare was hired to redecorate the Filet restaurant she had no idea the job was going to be a recipe for murder. There was no shortage of suspects, in fact, it seemed like almost everyone wanted Adam Dunning dead.
The suspects were coming so hot and heavy it made my head spin. Detective Crumple’s new attitude was a surprising twist. I really enjoy the Daisy McDare mystery series. This was a fun cozy read.
Another lighthearted Daisy McDare murder mystery. Our decorator/detective takes on a new client who ends up murdered. Once again Daisy is joined by Detective Crumple, Samantha and Granny Annie. Not to mention lots of cupcakes. Donna G Soto’s upbeat narration and character voices make this story pleasant to listen to.
Format: audiobook Narrator: Donna Soto Not the best cosy mystery I’ve read/listened to, Daisy’s manner is more rude and bullying than investigative. The narrator is ok but some of her voices in this seemed the same and for one male character she used a high voice more suited to a female character.
Daisy McDare and the Deadly Restaurant Affair (Daisy McDare #6) by K.M. Morgan was another great read by the author. This is the sixth book in The Daisy McDare series. Daisy is on a decorating job that turns into a crime scene. I enjoyed reading Daisy investigating this death.
I've given Daisy a couple tries now, but she has to be the least likable, most obnoxious, and certainly the most obtuse amateur detective in the genre. The mystery is maintained by concealing information from the reader, and no attempt at even basic law enforcement protocol is made. Silly beyond words; I am not the target audience.
