What this actually is, is a series of experiences of faithful disciples in the persecuted church - via the mission agency, Open Doors. In theory these are organised into seven chapters each ostensibly around a theme 'or secret' of spiritual success. In reality the organisation is pretty thinly related and really all of the chapters are simply about the wholehearted dedication of these persecuted Christians. Some of these stories are truly moving and shocking. It is not mentioned in the book but worth noting all the same, that apart from Iran almost all the persecutors are communists! It is truly amazing how the church grows and prospers under such suffering and it does create a puzzling conundrum for the theoretically free western churches, but unfortunately - inspiring though all this is, there are few secrets or learnings here.
Nevertheless the book is well worth the read as a reminder, as an alert and as a challenge to all Christians.
