I loved that Flame was patient and understanding while building his friendship with Mali. Mali tried to take her time with Flame as she wanted to make sure that she was ready after that toxic mess with Jude. 😤 However, her feelings grew faster than she expected. Cute read.

Mali and Flame

Flame came into Mail's life at her lowest and showed and proved he was her friend before anything else. He was a man that proved his worth and showed he could be whatever/whoever she needed at any time. An enjoyable quick read. Happy Reading Y'all!💋

I really enjoyed Set My Soul Ablaze by Mya. This was a sweet, engaging Black romance with a great balance of chemistry, emotional connection, and grown-folks love.

Mali Flowers was easy to root for. She’s independent, focused on her career as a dog groomer, and has reached the point where protecting her peace feels much better than settling for relationships that don’t add anything meaningful to her life. I appreciated that she knew what she wanted for herself and wasn’t willing to accept less just for the sake of having someone.

Then there’s Artez “Flame” Gilliam. Flame was definitely one of my favorite parts of the story. He’s hardworking, family-oriented, caring, protective, and intentional. I especially liked that his character wasn’t just about being the attractive firefighter. There was a genuine softness and sense of responsibility to him that made him even more likable.

Mali and Flame had great chemistry, but their connection was what kept me invested. There was an ease between them that made their interactions enjoyable to read, and I liked watching two people with their own careers, responsibilities, and full lives navigate making room for something they weren’t necessarily expecting.

The title Set My Soul Ablaze fits their story perfectly. There’s definitely heat and attraction, but there’s also sweetness and heart underneath it all. Their romance gave me the balance I enjoy between physical chemistry and an emotional connection that makes you actually care about the couple.

Overall, this was an enjoyable, feel-good romance with characters I could root for from beginning to end. Mya gave me an independent heroine, a protective firefighter, genuine chemistry, Black love, and a romance that left me satisfied when I finished.

Definitely a good read for anyone who enjoys sweet and steamy Black romance with plenty of heart.

On Fire For Your Love!

A man that’ll go above and beyond to have your heart, treat you right, and protect you by any means necessary is always a plus and that is definitely Flame!! Everything about Flame and Mali just says we’re perfect for each other. He had to be patient with her for many reasons and it was beautiful. He was so understanding and gentle with her. She leaned on Flame for comfort, laughter, and peace. They became inseparable and perfect for each other. This was a beautiful romance story 10/10.

Wow! Firefighters are so sexy! Flame and Mali ended up being that couple. He went to the ends of the earth for her, after her trash ex tried to kill her. Flame (Artez) was bae forever.

I loved how they progressed from friends to lovers, at her pace. He was patient and waited for her to catch up to him.

🔥🔥🔥🔥

Mali and Artez are so freaking cute together. I love the slow burn on this story. Jude was a low down dirty snake. I am glad Mali found her happiness.

Flame & Mali!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

If there was ever a book I never wanted to put down, it would be this one right here. Right from the very beginning, I knew this story was going to have me in my feelings. Let me start by saying I absolutely love Mali’s business as a dog groomer. The way she interacted with and took care of those precious babies showed how much she adored her furry clients. Now, the drama that brought Mali and Flame together was very terrifying, to say the least. But I believe Flame was put in Mali’s path for a damn good reason and most definitely for more than a season. The attraction between these two was very evident. But to be honest, I loved how they let their relationship grow into something enduring and completely unbreakable. He showed her exactly how a real man treats his lady. And Mali definitely deserved that and more. The heat between these two was hotter than the sun, and the spice was hotter than a Carolina reaper! I'm so happy they got their HEA. Not to mention a certain cameo from a previous book by the author.

As for the waste of space, Juda, his mama, and his trifling sister, they all got back the energy they put out times 100. And I laughed reading every last bit of it. Karma doesn't punch a time clock. She'll come for you any time on any given day. This book was definitely 5/5 stars for me. Author Mya cooked up a 5-star Michelin experience that I highly recommend.

This was a cute, generally low-tension read. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Flame and Mali, and I loved that they built a friendship before their relationship turned romantic. Flame was patient, intentional, and gave Mali the space she needed, which made their connection feel believable.

The author’s note had me bracing myself because it made Mali seem like she was going to test my patience, but she actually didn’t. Other than giving a decade of her life to a loser, she never really frustrated me.

The pacing was good, and the writing flowed well. My biggest critique was the dialogue. At times it teetered on the edge of being overly flowery and poetic, which made some conversations feel a little unnatural. I wish there had been a little more build-up to how things ended with Mali’s ex. He was completely out of his mind, and while he ultimately got what he deserved, it still felt pretty anticlimactic.

Overall, this was an enjoyable, easy read with a likable couple. It may not have been the most memorable story, but I had a good time with it.

Artez and Mali!!

Mali had been with Juda, a trash individual, for almost ten years when she finally said enough is enough and kicked him out of her home and life. Artez and Mali cross paths when he saves her from a fire in her home. They start out slowly as friends but that soon develops into something more. I loved everything about Artez and how he treated Mali. He spoke so much life into her that she couldn't help but recover from Juda. She went from being scared of being alone and not loving herself to learning that she deserved love and peace with Artez's support and protection. I also loved her bestie, Joylei. She was there for Mali through her ups and downs and cheered on her new relationship because she wanted the best for her. I really detested Juda. He was a true nut, and I enjoyed karma finding his behind. I'm glad that out of the flames came a new beginning for both Artez and Mali.

Mali and Flame were beautiful together. From the time Flame saved her from the house fire, I knew it was gonna be a good time. Flame was such a good man. When he told Mali that he would go at her pace, even if that meant they would only be friends, I was swooning. The way he took care of her throughout this book was everything.

Mali and her friendship with Jayleigh was perfection. I loved how Jayleigh spoke the truth even though Mali didn't want to accept it. Mali's ex Juda deserved everything he got. That man was a fool, and he needed to be stopped.

I loved the firehouse and the firefighters. I want more on all of them, especially Juliet, the only female firefighter. Mya's books hit for me every time, and this one was no different.

Mali was weird....

Her friend told her that her ex burnt her house down, she got mad and was like I want you to leave. That man came to her job and embarrassed her in front of her staff and clients then threatened her and she still entertains him. That man came to her job again and told her he cheated most of their relationship and preyed on her at nineteen years old and she entertains him by listening still. Then she shuts Flame out and when he shows up to find out what's wrong she wants to use him to take away the pain. I did not finish this book I read enough foolishness from Mali!

sweet & full of heat!

Artez is what book baes are made of.
Patient, kind, funny, sexy, BIG & STRONG, add in a pinch of danger to balance out his soft side! Ugh, I’m lowkey obsessed.

& sweet, Mali (I adore her name, btw).
If “I can’t see, I’m blind.. Blind.. BLIND!” was a person, lol, but seriously. I was so relieved when that veil was finally lifted.

a lil snippet of my favorite quote:
“…this doesn’t have to be the end. In a lot of lore, a fire is a sign of rebirth, growth, and new beginnings.”
I feel like it fits these two so well.

Set my soul ablaze

I found it hard to connect with Mali, which made it hard to give her grace and understand her choices regarding her ex. Flame was a gentleman and protector for his family and for Mali once their paths crossed. I did like that Flame didn’t rush Mali into a relationship or force her into taking him out of the friend zone before she was ready, which also allowed for their relationship to progress naturally.

A Great Read

I enjoyed the storyline. The characters were all likable except for the ex and his family. I felt like that storyline was a little lean. There was also a part where Mali ran, that felt predictable and a bit immature in a disappointing way. The other characters were nice and Artez and Mali being genuinely good people made it easy to root for them. Artez was an awesome example of a good man.

Time is never a factor when it comes to True Love ! Flame was everything Mali needed and more the way he spoke life and love into that woman every chance he got was 👌🏾! Mali was suffering in a 9/10 year relationship because of convenience and time invested just to find out he was cheating all that time and tired to take her out smh 🤦🏽‍♀️

If you looking for a story where the man loves, protects and does anything to keep his woman happy check out Flame & Mali story !

Mali and Flame

Mali meets Flame when he saves her during a house fire. At first she’s reluctant to get to know him because she’s still healing for the trauma her ex caused her but she eventually just couldn’t stay away from him. Flame spoke life into Madi and showed her a soft love that she deserved. I loved their story.

Loved this story

Artez b.k.a Flame was just what Mali needed. He was a friend and her peace. My boy made it his life mission to keep her smiling and thriving. It was the favor he called in for me and her thanking him instead of being angry.

If you want something light and healing grab this book.

Flame to Mali

Flame put out all of Mali’s fires. He is a firefighter with a gentle, loving spirit. He helped Mali during her life crisis, and ended up with his soulmate. This was a cute story. I loved their friendship turned relationship. I loved how you’ve intertwined other book characters of yours into this one 🥰 They even went to the infused cafe. Great job Mya!!!

Mali & Flame

Beautiful story. Sometimes love can come from a tragedy. After being with a trifling man for almost 10 years, Mali hit her breaking point. I didn’t like Juda at all. Then came Flame! Mali and Flame met under dire circumstances but were drawn to each other. Their love story blossomed beautifully and I loved reading about them. This was such a good read!

Protective and Affirming Book Bae!

I love a Book Bae that’s protective and provides reassurance to their woman. This was such a great read! I love how Artez spoke life into Marli. Artez was patient but stood on business about Marli! Their story started with an instant attraction, that blossomed beautifully in just a short time.

💞💞Loved It💞💞

So sweet, the FMC had been in a relationship for almost a decade with someone that didn't value her. He didn't take it well when she asked him to leave. The MMC became her shoulder when she needed someone the most. Story touches on arson, attempted murder and infidelity. Kudos to the author👏🏾👏🏾

Great Book

I love the book. Mali had to go through a lot. I was glad she was able to get over that man. He was no good for her. Sometimes, the person you are with is not your person.
They were able to come together to grow and be there for each other.

I would recommend the book.
