5 Beautiful and Brutal ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I cried my eyes out for the last 20% ❤️🩹 This read like a real relationship.
This is a love story between two best friends: one who is getting a divorce, and one who has never been in a relationship before. Life is going to happen to them.❤️🩹
It’s a beautiful story, but not an easy read. Trust me on this. This is a love story in the vein of Rhett and Scarlett, mistakes will happen.
Rebecca is getting a divorce after discovering her husband had an affair, and she’s learning to stand on her own two feet again. Blake is her best friend. They always hang out, eat together, and fall asleep on the couch together.
Except Blake is deeply in love with Rebecca, who has serious trust issues with men. (I low-key fell in love with him.) He was the sweetest person. ❤️
However Blake used to be a womanizer, a serious one, but he stopped the moment he knew Rebecca was going to be his, months before they even kissed.
However Rebecca had just been through a terrible divorce, and Blake’s reputation and past still sting. ❤️🩹 It affects her trust, even though all he ever shows her is love.
Their relationship is sweet and gentle and will make you giddy. We feel the yearning between them and the tenderness they have for each other. At the same time, the stakes keep rising, and we know as readers that the bubble will eventually burst. ❤️🩹
You could not have made me put this book down while I was reading this.
Their relationship moves very fast. Their love is perfect, almost too idyllic, so when Blake asks her to marry him, Rebecca is completely blindsided. ❤️🩹 He wanted it so badly.
The problem is they never talked about it, and her divorce wasn’t even finalized yet. Blake is naive. He never considered how she would feel or react, and when she handles it poorly… well, so does he, tenfold if you ask me. 🖤
This is where the human nature of breakups started feeling raw and real. Her heartbreak and guilt, and his stubbornness and avoidance, only added to their pain.
“You let your ex-husband’s love taint mine.” ❤️🩹
This was a fantastically written story, but not for the faint of heart. They both handled conflict poorly, and I was literally crying through it because it felt realistic.
It wasn’t the usual romance recipe where everything gets neatly resolved. 🙌
It felt like real life. If you’ve ever been through a bad breakup, this will hit you in the gut. 💔
He was too impatient with her and, honestly, not mature enough to be married, while she hadn’t fully coped with her divorce.
Should you read it? Yes, but you need to have your big girl pants on, because the conflict is real and not glossed over. This reads like real life.
Chance of divorce: 5%
I believe they worked it out. I do worry Blake got an easier redemption than he deserved, but I suspect it will be addressed in book three.
I would definitely recommend reading these books in order. They follow different couples, but there is important weaving between the stories.
Lori thank you my dear for continuing this crazy book journey with me. And yes I AM SORRY I could not wait for you to wake up❤️😂
