LA COLPA È DELLA NOSTRA INDIFFERENZA PER I DESTINI ALTRUI
Dio li fa e poi li accoppia.
Io non so se i particolari contano più del quadro in sé. Le parti valgono più dell'intero, come pensa Anna Politkovskaja: di certo c'è che i 'particolari' e le 'parti' che lei racconta sono dannatamente illuminanti sul quadro intero.
Ne viene fuori una Russia che ha perfezionato lo stile delle storiche dittature sudamericane o africane, andando ben oltre, ben più su nella scala della corruzione, del sopruso, dell'ingiustizia, della violenza.
Come dice Anna,
Non c'è dubbio che il comunismo sia stato un danno tremendo per il nostro Paese. Ma quel che sta accadendo oggi è ancora peggio.
Anna Politkovskaja è stata uccisa il 7 ottobre 2006. Al funerale era presente un solo uomo politico italiano, Marco Pannella, amico personale di Anna. Nessun membro del governo russo presenziò. Il mandante dell’omicidio è tutt’oggi sconosciuto.
Nonostante esempi così ributtanti e dolorosamente faticosi da immaginare, non credo ci si possa illudere che il racconto di Anna Politkovskaja sia valido solo ed esclusivamente per il suo paese.

Quello vero, quello che dice chiaramente che al mondo non ci sono esseri umani di genere e importanza diversa, esseri umani più umani degli altri.

Ho visto il remake di Non aprite quella porta, sono un fan di Jessica Biel, non potevo perderlo.

Poi ho ripreso in mano questo libro e mi sembrava di essere ancora dentro il film…

Cred că nu mai este nevoie să spun că Anna Politkovskaia (1958 -2007) a plătit cu viața articolele de investigație și reportajele cuprinse în acest volum. Curajul ei a fost unul ieșit din comun.
I-a criticat pe oligarhi, a denunțat militarii vinovați de crime de război în Cecenia, a documentat că ofițerii ruși formează o „castă de gangsteri” (p.35), a ilustrat corupția generalizată din Rusia lui Putin și, mai ales, l-a criticat pe Putin: a se citi, în acest sens, articolul intitulat „Akaki Akakievici Putin II”, redactat în 2004, cînd dictatorul rus a fost reales pentru al doilea mandat la Kremlin cu 70% din voturi.
Cu mult înaintea liderilor occidentali, Anna Politkovskaia a ghicit în Putin un individ cu o viziune îngustă, cazonă, profund antidemocratic, un „copoi KGB-ist” cinic și sangvinar (p.270). Principala însușire a individului e neputința de a dialoga. Nu are consilieri, ci slugi. Nu e capabil să accepte o opinie rațională, nu tolerează obiecțiile. În 2004, de pildă, nu a participat la nici o dezbatere electorală (p.276). Putin nu este în stare să discute, se pricepe numai la monolog și porunci. Felul lui de a fi este neîndoielnic „o versiune politică a comportamentului ofițerilor din armată” (p.276). Deși își disprețuiește poporul (p.282), există „oameni care îl iubesc și au încredere în el, fără rezerve, fără critici, într-un mod irațional și fanatic” (p.274).
Anna Politkovskaia a arătat că sistemul juridic rus e unul strîmb, corupt, politizat. Un judecător poate trimite un nevinovat la închisoare (cazul cecenului Hasuhanov, acuzat că a vrut să fure un submarin nuclear) fără să-i examineze dosarul. În anchete, se folosesc tortura și substanțele psihotrope (p.38).
Între timp, Putin și-a lichidat toți adversarii (i-a asasinat, i-a obligat să părăsească Rusia, i-a trimis în închisori) și acum a declanșat un război dement împotriva Ucrainei și a întregii lumi. Sper că nu va scăpa nepedepsit.

Anna Politkovskaia a fost un spirit foarte lucid. Ea a înțeles că între fosta URSS și Rusia lui Putin nu există nici o diferență. Lumea trăiește în minciună și sărăcie, drepturile din Constituție sunt literă moartă, averea țării s-a împărțit între câțiva oligarhi și mafioți (scrie și despre așa-numitul „Uralmaș”, un cartel mafiot din Ekaterinburg).
Anna Politkovskaia a spulberat toate iluziile politologilor cu privire la „democrația” rusă. S-a folosit pentru Rusia eufemismul „democrație iliberală”, deși Rusia e opusul unei democrații. FSB, poliția secretă, e atotputernică, dreptul la exprimare e zero, cine încearcă să spună adevărul este împușcat sau otrăvit, sărăcia e endemică, oamenii resemnați. Regret că am citit Rusia lui Putin atît de tîrziu. Aș fi înțeles mai repede actualul război dintre Rusia și Ucraina...
Anna Politkovskaia a fost asasinată în seara zilei de 7 octombrie 2007 de către un comando format din 4 indivizi. Nici acum nu se știe cine a ordonat această fărădelege.

An open letter to everyone who thinks journalists are enemies of the people
You often hear these days that journalists are generically enemies of the people. Anna Politkovskaya was a journalist, so I guess that made her, specifically, an enemy of the people. But let's try and be more precise. No one can really be an enemy of all the people; people have such different agendas that you're almost certain to end up being on somebody's side. In practice, you're going to be an enemy of one part of the people, and a friend of another part of the people, and then there will most likely be a third part that doesn't much care one way or the other. So, looking at this book, of which part of the people was Politkovskaya an enemy?
Politkovskaya is mostly writing about the Russia of the early 21st century, during the first four years of Putin's reign, and she certainly seems to be taking sides. If you happened to be one of the people who, according to her account, got extremely rich by bribing judges to rule that your takeovers of former state-owned companies were not fraudulent and that your subsequent asset-stripping of those companies was fully legal, I'm pretty sure you'd consider her your enemy. She names names and provides a lot of details. And it's not just the oligarchs. Many of the judges who are claimed to have been paid off would no doubt also have considered her their enemy. I am not so certain about the people who had worked at the companies that got sold and asset-stripped, and then found they had no job. They wouldn't necessarily think she was their enemy. In fact, they might even think she was their friend. But I guess they're less important: they were just losers.
Perhaps this was the Politkovskaya's big problem, that she liked losers. She seems to have spent a lot of time talking with members of the Russian armed forces. I'm sure that Colonel Budanov, who was convicted of abducting and murdering a young Chechen girl after a lengthy series of trials, considered Politkovskaya his enemy. And I would imagine that the many senior Russian military officers, politicians and psychiatrists who tried to defend Budanov also considered her their enemy. The Chechen family whose daughter was kidnapped, raped and strangled may have thought she was their friend, but they were obviously losers. And as for her description of the special forces veteran who had carried out dozens of insanely dangerous missions, been wounded multiple times, but then got on the wrong side of his commanding officer when he snapped one day and called him a coward who'd just sat behind a desk while he'd been out risking his life... well, I think the commanding office, who is described in a most unflattering light, must also have decided Politkovskaya was his enemy. The special forces guy may have liked her - another loser. If he'd had any sense, he'd obviously have put his skills at the service of the Russian Mob, who are very happy to recruit that kind of person and pay well. He seems to have been burdened with a ludicrously sensitive conscience.
Politkovskaya was certainly an enemy of the people who decided to end the Nord-Ost theater siege by gassing the entire audience, resulting in over two hundred civilian casualties. She insisted on following up the story in quite unnecessary detail, for example suggesting that many lives might have been saved if only the authorities had made preparations to have adequate medical care available. The judge who presided over the, according to her description, cursory and insulting inquest must also have thought she was an enemy. It's possible that some of the victims' families considered her a friend. For example, the wife of the young musician with the Chechen name, whose husband apparently received no medical attention at all and was left to asphyxiate. I need hardly point out that Chechens are Muslims, and as such are automatically losers. Whose side are you on?
Last but not least, I rather think Vladimir Putin considered Politkovskaya an enemy. She says some very unflattering things about him, and, as usual, backs them up with annoying facts. If you're a friend or admirer of Putin, you may be relieved to hear that this enemy of the people was killed, in a professional-looking hit, on October 7 2006. Some misguided citizens say they're sorry she's no longer with us. But, you know, losers.

Книга, която разобличава част от престъпния път на мръсната КГБ гадина Путин, убиец и крадец, от над двайсет години жесток диктатор на РаZZия. И на съучастниците му - голяма част от населението на РФ и света. Да, защото вместо да се намесят, те остават безучастни и това позволява на диктаторския режим да се утвърди и да набере наглост, инерция и увереност...
Авторката е показно застреляна от чеченски наемници точно на рождения му ден, без никакво съмнение като извратен подарък към сатрапа.
След написването на тази книга, този душевен урод падна още по-низко, води кървави и безсмислени войни в Украйна и Сирия, армията му агресор извършва военни престъпления и геноцид, а крепостните му живеят във все по-голяма мизерия, докато той и приближените му грабят ресурсите на страната и живеят в небивал разкош.
Струва си да се прочете, особенно от билюците му слепи почитатели у нас. Но пък те най-вероятно нямат капацитета да я осмислят...
Има я за свободен прочит в Читанка.
P.S. На 15.11.2023 година, физическият убиец на Ана Политковская е пуснат на свобода, без да издаде поръчителя и без да излежи остатъка от двайсетте години затвор, на които бе осъден…

Appalled. This is how I felt the entire time reading it - appalled and outraged. These 5 stars I rated the book with are not for what's inside - I cannot like or be amazed by what I read; the stars are for the author's courage, and she was murdered in 2006 for this. *
The book is a collection of stories mostly about ordinary people under Putin's regime. She writes about Chechen wars, the attacks on Beslan and Dubrovka Theater, about the abuses of the judges on the relatives of the victims, mafia, and many others.
No matter what I'd say, I cannot convey the reality, dramas, or corruption described here - you have to read it for yourself to believe it. My dismay never reached this high. I think Stalin would have been be very pleased about him and his acolytes.
She describes objectively every account, only at the end she expresses her feelings. I think it summarizes perfectly what we have all seen all these years, even from outside:
"I dislike him because he does not like people. He despises us. He sees us as a means to his ends, a means for the achievement and retention of personal power, no more than that. Accordingly, he believes he can do anything he likes with us, play with us as he sees fit, destroy us is he wishes. We are nobody, while he whom chance has enabled to clamber to the top is today czar and God."
"In Russia we have had leaders with this outlook before. It led to tragedy, to bloodshed on a vast scale, to civil wars. Because I want no more of that, I dislike this typical Soviet Chekist as he struts down the red carpet in the Kremlin on his way to the throne of Russia."
I also tried to read A Russian Diary: A Journalist's Final Account of Life, Corruption & Death in Putin's Russia, but I can't right now, not after this. However, two fragments remained with me from the little I have read, because they are conclusive for what is happening these days too:
"Those in Russia who hope for help from the West need finally to recognize that winning back our democratic freedoms is up to us."
And this one could have been written for Romania too:
"Our government is just ridiculous. I wish people weren't so crazy about money, that there was at least some sign of moral principle in our government, and that they would cheat the people as little as possible. The government is the servant of the people. We elect it, not the other way around."

Dated. Very dated. The discussion about army (though not only Russian army should have been mentioned but the whole post-Soviet block) and its extreme hardships very well done and true but dated by about a decade. Which is only expected, since the author, sadly, was killed in 2006. Today it's gotten reformed, even if not to the Switzerland or Israel standards.
The author's death is sad. Extremely sad. May God rest her soul in a world better than what Russia was in 1990s and early 2000s. It was a very sad place, with lots of violence, lawlessness, terrorism and pretty much free-for-all anarchy. It has improved since, a lot, even though it's still not the paradise we all seem to want to inhabit. Anyway, people often prefer to criticize it outright anyway, even though the perspective and the improvement trends are there and are pretty much obvious. Concerning Putin, it seems that no matter what the guy does, people will criticize him for it. Karma bitch? Likely.
The urban legend says she was killed on Putin's birthday. I've no idea if it's true and don't care about it enough to factcheck. But, if it's true, then I think it's the best proof that someone somewhere needed to make of her a martyr of the new regime of the Mordorous Russia. Which is sad, since democracy shouldn't kill. I don't think anyone sane should really believe that ex-spy would be this obvious about killing some critical journalist. Seriously, a birthday? Some people should definitely read/watch less thrillers.

At best, because, for example, I actually felt for the story of ex-military Rinat who seemed to be incapable of having life other than in the Chechen-wars army. Lots of other stories also rang true and devastating. Still, this issue is not unique to Russia and wasn't caused by Putin but rather by human nature. We get easily traumatized: by everything but particularly by wars. So, this leads us to a new understanding that this book simultaneously illustrated storytelling at its worst: it deals with anecdotal instances without paying attention to the big picture. Do we know how many ex-military worldwide have these issues? No, we don't, we don't pay attention to that. What we do is love, LOVE, ADORE stigmatizing Russia.We get our kicks out of kicking the underdog, right? All the while, the only sane way to deal with this issue worldwide is not to have wars, at all, anywhere on this frigging planet we have the misfortune to share with each other.
Beslan... Seriously, Beslan is the responsibility of the jihadis who got there with all that weapons and explosives shit. How do you free a school chockful of young, terrified and brutalized kids, their parents and teachers, all suffering of heat, extreme dehydration, hunger and brutality? Think 1972 massacre of Munich. Think of all the hostage situations ever gone horribly wrong. This was one of them. Actually, a bunch of soldiers/civilians died saving people out there.
Chechnya? How about asking where it got its weaponry and military training, in the first place? Qui bono? -1 star
Also, how about realising that Chechen wars started before Putin? He got to become the leader of a country in shambles and he's actually doing well, to compare things, just look at Ukraine, where it got with its.... uh... so-called democratic leaders?

Îl cunosc mai bine pe Putin după ce am citit cartea asta? Mă tem că da - și cele mai negre intuiții sau deducții se confirmă:
"Un locotenent-colonel tipic al KGB-ului sovietic, o sosie a lui Akaki Akakievici, eroul umil din Mantaua lui Gogol", urcat pe tronul Rusiei. "Concepțiile lui sunt înguste, provinciale, așa cum o sugerează și rangul lui; are personalitatea lipsită de atracție a unui locotenent-colonel care nu a ajuns niciodată colonel, comportamentul unui agent al poliției politice care obișnuiește sa-și bage nasul în viața propriilor colegi. Și este răzbunator: la ceremonia de instalere în funcție nu a fost invitat nici măcar unul dintre oponenții lui, niciunul dintre partidele politice care se află cumva în afara liniei [...]. Un copoi KGB-ist, care nici măcar în această calitate nu a făcut cine știe ce impresie, va umbla prin Kremlin la fel ca Lenin. Își va lua revanșa".

Cum arată, deci, Rusia sovietică a lui Putin? O armată în care 500 de oameni sunt uciși într-un an nu în lupte, ci în bătaie, de către superiori. O clasă politica formată din afaceriști care s-au săturat sa dea mită autorităților, așa ca s-au hotărât să devină ei înșiși autoritățile care iau șpagă. Și din foști mici KGB-iști la fel de lipsiți de importanță și realizări ca liderul lor, ales ca paznic al corupției lui Elțîn. Un sistem judiciar care, sprijinit de poliție, dă ordinele de care au nevoie mafioții pentru a pune mâna pe afaceri ale statului, pe care apoi le falimentează (în folosul lor și al autorităților mânjite), lasând zeci de oameni fără slujbe și orașele muribunde.
Personificarea efectului politicii demente care sovietizează și distruge Rusia mi se pare căpitanul-comandant de submarin de pe malul Pacificului. Submarinul este principala componentă a scutului nuclear rusesc, care ar putea opri orice atac în Pacific, inclusiv din partea SUA și este lăsat fără mentenantă de ani de zile, în ciuda protestelor disperate ale comandantului, care spune ca va deveni inutil (sa sperăm că la fel au furat banii pentru întreținerea tuturor armelor nucleare...). Iar căpitanul (absolvent strălucit de studii inginerești, nu doar militar) are un salariu de circa 100 de dolari, care uneori îi întărzie și 6 luni, motiv pentru care sare peste masă pentru a-și împărți porția de la cantina ofiterilor cu soția (absolventa de mare institut chimic, șomeră) și fiica. Asta e marea Rusie a lui Putin.

Re the Budanov rape case (p 101): 'Lynch law was encouraged from the Kremlin itself - an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. We discovered that we were moving backwards, from stagnation under Brezhnev to the out and out arbitrariness of Stalin. It was terryfying to reflect that we probably had the government we deserved.' Judge Bukreev's defence claims trial protraction
This book marks an important stepping-stone on the road to where we are now but it does feel dated, so much has happened since Anna's assassination. Well worth a skim through yet it is worth reading word by word from page 269 to the end, it is an impassioned summation.

Yet another example of how Anna Politkovskaya was a courageous representative of truth on this damaged and confused planet. She sheds light on the misery and harm induced by the flagrant abuse and elected ignorance of the powers that be in Putin’s Russia. Throughout this book, as well as her others, she exhibits an open minded willingness to grasp for the truth. Her way could never have been comfortable. In her search she was not one to close her eyes, ears and heart to that which made her vulnerable. As an open and generous soul she could relate to other being’s suffering and truly listen to what the people involved told her. This kind of empathy was central to her guiding principles. She sought to end suffering on both personal and universal levels by becoming aware of the root causes of political problems. When she picked up the sword of truth she had the wisdom and understanding of how to use it to defend those who suffered. There is a sparkling glow that surrounds her words. They are written with a genuine warmth and open mindedness. They effectively work against the dictatorial and brutal regime that sought to crush spirits and take up weapons to destroy. She invites us all to defend the disadvantaged and stand and fight with facts. It saddens me that she is gone She is a legendary person who teaches us all to strive for justice.

Siamo agli inizi del terzo millennio che coincide con l'inizio dell'impero di Putin. Qui la Politkovskaja raccoglie alcune storie dei primi 4 anni della storia della Russia putiniana, dove riemerge il putridume del regime sovietico, dove la corruzione e la spietatezza sono alle stelle, ma l'elemento ancora più impressionante è la disumanità con cui il nuovo despota fa piazza pulita di tutto ciò che si ribella al potere costituito.
Una lettura molto dolorosa e cruda, leggere di storie così ingiuste, così al limite dell'inumano, non è facile, soprattutto non è facile rendersi conto che le ingiustizie ci sono e ci saranno sempre, fino a quando l'essere umano non capirà che l'uguaglianza, condivisione e l'amicizia sono i sentimenti fondanti di una vita in comune in pace.
Ma siamo talmente lontani da ciò e l'ennesima guerra, per il predominio su qualcun altro, ne è la impietosa testimonianza.
Una lettura molto dolorosa e cruda, leggere di storie così ingiuste, così al limite dell'inumano, non è facile, soprattutto non è facile rendersi conto che le ingiustizie ci sono e ci saranno sempre, fino a quando l'essere umano non capirà che l'uguaglianza, condivisione e l'amicizia sono i sentimenti fondanti di una vita in comune in pace.

Pensei muito nas razões que me levam a ter esta antipatia por Putin. O que é que me faz detestá-lo a ponto de escrever um livro sobre ele? Não sou um dos seus opositores políticos, sou apenas uma mulher que vive na Rússia. É simples: sou uma moscovita de 45 anos, que observou a União Soviética no seu período mais desgraçado, as décadas de 1970 e 1980. E não quero francamente voltar atrás, não quero esse tempo de volta.
A leitura dos relatos que Anna Politkovskaya escreveu deixou-me a sentir que a Rússia, o maior país do mundo em termos de território, que ocupa dois continentes, é um caso perdido. Um país de corruptos, que manipulam as notícias e os casos à maneira deles, como os ataques de Beslan e o sequestro no teatro Nord-Ost. É um país que nunca terá igualdade, muito menos justiça. Não há ninguém que consiga fazer frente ao Sr. Putin. É muito triste.
A leitura dos relatos que Anna Politkovskaya escreveu deixou-me a sentir que a Rússia, o maior país do mundo em termos de território, que ocupa dois continentes, é um caso perdido. Um país de corruptos, que manipulam as notícias e os casos à maneira deles, como os ataques de Beslan e o sequestro no teatro Nord-Ost. É um país que nunca terá igualdade, muito menos justiça. La Politkovskaja racconta storie di persone che vivono (in certi casi vivere è una parola grossa) nella Russia di Putin, nello specifico dei primi anni duemila, in piena lotta internazionale al terrorismo, con una guerra criminale in Cecenia, in un paese dove all’incancrenito regime comunista si è sostituito un “capitalismo sfrenato gestito da cupole mafiose”, con l’appoggio di forze dell’ordine e funzionari corrotti e di un sistema giudiziario “da telefono”, nel senso che il verdetto dipende da quale potente di turno ha espresso i suoi desideri con un’opportuna telefonata. Fra le tragedie del teatro Dubrovka e della scuola di Beslan.
Le storie che racconta vanno a comporre un quadro che non vorremmo guardare, vorremmo girare la testa e pensare ad altro, alla nostra vita tranquilla e sicura… ma quanto sicura? Siamo certi che queste storie non riguardino anche noi?

До какво се свежда идеологията на всяка цена и във всеки аспект на живота без оглед на неприятни и противоречащи факти? До имитация. Имитация на дейност, а не истинска работа. И много греши този, който смята, че имитацията на дейност не носи реални резултати. СССР при Сталин, режимът на Пиночет, маккартизмът и расизмът в САЩ са прекрасни примери как отначало привидната подмяна на действителността с идеология води до реално изместване.
В такива времена думата ”не” струва скъпо. Московчанката и журналистка Анна Политковская плаща цената на 7 октомври 2006 г., когато е убита от наемници, чиито следи водят до висши военни среди в Руската Федерация. 7 октомври 1952 г., между другото, е рожденният ден на Путин. Какъв подарък само. Тъй като се води публично аскет, едва ли е празнувал чак с реки шампанско, не е лишен от вкус олигарх - по-вероятно просто е отметнал още една дразнеща пречка по-малко.
Думата “не” навремето в Русия е пращала в ГУЛАГ. Днес праща в емиграция (ако имаш средства) или в канавката с водка-менте (ако си късметлия). За сметка на това имитацията на дейност се вихри с пълна сила и пълни пропагандните ракети с близък и далечен обсег.

Имитация 1: Руската армия е добре обучена, ефективна и пази родината
Добре обучена:
Ако в една армия дезертира наведнъж почти цялa рота от 54 редника наведнъж, търсещи гласност и закрила от военната прокуратура заради системни и причиняващи смърт издевателства на мъртвопияни офицери (да, освен това ония и крадат) в печално известно поделение и печално известна част от армията, това едва ли е сигнал за правилно обучение и дисциплина. 54-та естерствено нямат шанс. Военният прокурор на областта незабавно потушава всичко, което - хайде - е разбираемо. Но и ги връща на съвсем същите командири, на които и косъм (нито пагон) пада от главата. Офицери не се критикуват от низшестоящите и точка.
Ефективна:
Полковник Буданов е стара кримка в Чечня. И като много стари кримки вече е психически нестабилен, злонравен и пие без прекъсване. При запой по повод рожденния ден на малката си дъщеря (!), решава, че му се ще терористка от женски пол за компания. Без да има формалните правомощия за такава операция, самоволно грабва подчинените си и бързо открива каквото му трябва в съседното чеченско село. Тя е 18 годишна. Хората му чинно пазят пред личната му квартира (той там си спи и живее, не е кабинет), докато се носят писъци и борба. В края на това приятно занимание, Буданов нарежда на хората си да погребат трупа (тя е гола и удушена), скед което поради умора от всичкото това антитерористично напрежение, кротко заспива в същото легло.
Процес? Чиста случайност - командващият генерал Герасимов не споделя възгледите на полковника и идва да го навести. Буданов вади оръжие. Хората на Буданов вадят оръжие. Хората на генерала също вадят оръжие.
Следват психиатрични експертизи, доказващи, че Буданов е герой на родината (други руски генерали в Чечня гарантират за Буданов, а и подобни случаи - дал господ) и нищо лошо не е направил, даже обратното.
Терористка? Така и не са открити каквито и да е доказателства, че момичето е нещо друго освен хубавичка млада местна селянка, макар да се търси дълго и упорито. Даже вътрешноармейските канали изрично потвърждават непричастност, но тези доказателства са удобно пропуснати от документацията по делото.
Изнасилване? Патоанатомът казва - да. Съдът казва - не. Единственият смел адвокат - чистокръвен руснак - Меркелов, наел се да защитава родителите на чеченката, е убит 5 години след книгата през 2009 г. от неизвестен извършител. Надали от чеченец… Това убийство не е описано от Политковская, тъй като е 3 години след нейното собствено убийство.
Присъда? Чиста случайност, германският канцлер лично задава въпрос на Путин за делото. 10 години затвор през 2003 г., Буданов е предсрочно освободен през 2009 г. Получава добра армейска служба на хранилка, а милата му съпруга го оплаква дето така са го изтормозили (що за жена е това - позор за женския пол!). Добре, че са чеченците! През 2011 г. - 7 години след книгата и 5 години след убийството на Политковская - Буданов най-накрая се прегръща с точен чеченски откос в Москва, извършителите не са открити, но чеченска групировка поема отговорност. Погребан е с военни почести, присъстват над 1000 души, военните величия изпращат със сълзи непрежалимия герой.
Ефективност? What the fuck?! Нито е хванал терористи, нито е допринесъл за постигане на важна оперативна ��ел, изобщо е превърнал частта си в паплач от ненормалници, които вече не знаят къде и защо стрелят и не им пука, и това е обликът на руски офицер, закрилян лично от министъра на отбраната? Тия в Кремъл какви гъби пушат? Или ходят някъде специално да им направят лоботомия, преди да разпишат военна стратегия и оперативен план?!
Имитации 2 и 3: В Русия има установен капитализъм и работеща правна система
Да, ама трънки.
Уралският “Бизнесмен” Павел “Пашка” Федулев прави бърза кариера с фалшива водка и накрая коли и беси из милицията на Екатерининбург - назначават се само удобни хора. Толкова сърдечни са и отношенията му с местния съд. В резултат си пазарува кажи-речи без пари няколко структуроопределящи комбината, като ги превзема с оръжие. Да не си помисли някой, че е майтап! Съвсем истинско въоръжено превземане е - с автомати, както си трябва! Каква е връзката с Путин ли? Ами онези напазаруваните магистрати кацат в Москва с повишение, а един от тях - и лично в екипа на Путин.
Относно разследващия анализ на съдебната система през 2000-2003 г. в Свердловска област - приложете го за България през 2022 г. и няма много да сбъркате.
Това, което Политковская и тук не доживява да види, е че Федулев все пак е осъден през 2008 г. на 20 години за убийство на шестима бизнеспартньори. Руската преса отразява воплите му за предсрочно освобождаване. Неудобен е станал за партньорите си с лъскав имидж - все пак простичка мутра, макар и с хъс и мангизи…
Имитациите във всички публикувани тук раследващи материали на Политковская (включително Норд-Ост) са системни за руското общество и политиците на върха му и са твърде много, а в една от тях няма майка, която да е в състояние да остане безразлична! И това е преди 2004 г! И е все още валидно!

Se davvero uno dei princìpi cardine del buon giornalista è mantenere 'la giusta distanza', Anna Politkovskaja non era brava. Aveva troppo cuore e troppo fegato per tenersi a distanza di sicurezza da quello che vedeva intorno a sé. Troppo forte l'urgenza di denunciare lo sfascio delle istituzioni nella Russia di Putin, la magistratura corrotta, i militari al collasso, la sciatteria spietata dei burocrati, il servilismo dei media, l'uso strumentale della guerra cecena per consolidare lo status quo. Che le cose laggiù non andassero un granché democraticamente lo si intuiva anche prima, ma leggere queste storie una dopo l'altra, essere sbattuti di fronte alla violenza feroce e sistematica contro chi si oppone, all'impunità sfacciata dei poteri forti, allo strazio di persone comuni private del minimo diritto, all'eroismo anonimo dei pochi servitori dello Stato che resistono, ecco, è diverso quanto lo è il leggere di boxe stravaccati in poltrona dal sanguinare a bordo ring tempestati da nomi e fatti. Già, solo quelli importavano ad Anna Politkovskaja, che di tutto il resto non si curava: di tornire le frasi, di essere commovente o brillante, di analizzare, di accattivarsi il lettore, di apparire equilibrata e imparziale. Non ne aveva voglia né tempo, probabilmente intuiva di averne poco davanti a sé. Libro appassionato e durissimo, si piange di rabbia.

Ms. Politkovskaya exposes several layers of corruption and malfeasance in Putin’s Russia.
She takes us through the disastrous war in Chechnya where Russian soldiers are underpaid or not paid at all. This would seem to be endemic to the Russian army where during the Afghanistan war the same corruption happened – actual weapons were sold to the Mujahideen in order to make money. The brutality of the Russian towards the Chechen population is almost equal to the cruelity of Russian officers to their own soldiers.
She also exposes the corruption on how the Russian mafia has taken control over vast swaths of the country, as in the Urals for instance. It has taken over industries and controls the police and judiciary – often by violent methods.
Putin is attempting, as per Ms. Politkovskaya to be a mini-Stalin. He abstains from debate and appoints “yes-men” – Russia is regressing to the old Soviet ways.
The Chechen war in now becoming a scapegoat for all other problems and a moral drain on the country, but few overtly protest.
It must always be remembered that Anna Politkovskaya paid with her life for telling the truth.

Книга, след която не ти остава и трохичка надежда, че у това уродливо същество нещо човешко може да трепне. Човекът у Путин отдавна е свършил.
Жалко, много жалко, че смели журналисти като Анна Политковская, с цената на живота си, отдавна са давали сигнали за това, но индоктринираните с токсични му лъжи последователи, нито чуват, нито виждат, нито искат да знаят за неговите човеконенавистни действия.
Аз много добре си спомням заложническата криза в московския тетър през 2002 г. и всички лъжи, с които руското правителство захрани потърпевшите оцелели и как категорично отказваше да разкрие химичния състав на газа, с който уби толкова невинни хора и трайно осакати стотици други. В тази книга Анна Политковская изследва последствията и от това злокобно събитие интервюирайки семействата на потърпевшите. Редове трудни за четене. Редове, който удрят шамар след шамар и умъртвяват всеки блян, че у Путин могат да съществуват някакви оскъдни морални отломки, които биха го накарали да спре коварната война в Украйна.
В тази книга няма справедливост.

I've signally failed here. I read maybe 30 pages of this, to find that it is so horrifying I can't stand to continue. And then again, I've failed with Winter is Coming by Garry Kasparov because his style makes me distrust everything he says.
I'm moving on from both.
I spent a lot of time with my Russian friend Genia, before she died, talking about Russia. Both being historians, we seemed to think in similar ways and we found allies in each other.
May the world produce two - or one hundred - Politkovskayas for each one that is murdered. If she has inspired others to carry on her work, then her life and death have not been in vain. We should all pray that is so.

Am terminat de citit Rusia lui Putin, cutremurătoarea carte a Annei Politkovskaia, acum mai bine de-o săptămînă și de-atunci m-am tot gîndit să-i fac o recenzie, ca să-mi dau în cele din urmă seama că nu-s în stare s-o scriu, pentru că e prea multă obidă în mine, prea multă indignare că, după optsprezece ani de la publicarea ei, ani în care portretul țarului KGB-ist schițat de autoare a căpătat tușe și mai monstruoase, numărul celor care-l admiră și-l laudă în gura mare crește neîncetat. Pe de altă parte, e oare de mirare? La urma-urmelor, Anna Politkovskaia a intuit care va fi mersul lumii cu mult înainte de era post-Trump atunci cînd a afirmat:

Se pare că în ultimii ani am ajuns îngrozitor de nedelicați, ba chiar josnici. Aceste caracteristici devin din ce în ce mai evidente pe măsură ce războiul din Caucaz continuă și încălcarea unor tabuuri a devenit tot mai des un obicei. Omoruri? Au loc în fiecare zi. Jafuri? Și ce dacă? Într-un război sînt perfect legale. Nu numai instanțele evită să condamne infracțiunile, dar și societatea în general. Ceea ce în trecut era privit cu repulsie astăzi este pur și simplu acceptat.

Un libro duro che offre uno spaccato reale della Russia di Putin senza nessun intervento "cosmetico".
Emerge una realtà molto distante dal nostro concetto di democrazia, dove la persona conta poco o nulla in confronto agli interessi dello Stato e, quindi, è spendibile senza alcun rimpianto. Il libro è scritto in maniera molto diretta, ma le varie parti mi lasciano l'idea di non essere molto legate tra di loro. Molto dettagliato in alcuni passaggi, forse anche troppo, spesso dà l'idea di essere troppo un resoconto di una indagine giornalistica. Al di là dei temi trattati, mi ha un pò deluso come narrazione.

O alta carte scrisa de A.P. despre ascensiunea la putere a lui Putin, pe care am citit-o acum cativa ani (cat si alta a lui Kasparov) mi-au creat in timp imaginea negativa, pe care o consider adevarata, despre Putin, insa chiar si asa, nu l-am crezut in stare de a face ce face acum in Ucraina. In ciuda cruzimii manifestate in timpul celui de-al doilea razboi cecen, in ciuda interventiilor inumane in cazurile Nord-Ost si Beslan, si a cinismului manifestat de autoritati dupa, tot mi-a fost greu sa il cred in stare de ceea ce face astazi.
Lectura este sfasietoare, ca disecarea unui cadavru de copil, ca jupuirea pe viu a unui om...

Testamento giornalistico, umano e politico questo libro intenso e drammatico sulla Russia dell’ex kgb ora presidente e dittatore Putin . La P. diceva che le interessava la realtà, la verità ne più nè meno di questo ed è quello che ha fatto durante la sua breve vita. Ricordiamolo la sua testa è stata servita su un piatto d’argento per il compleanno del zar Putin . Il libro è un viaggio nell’orrore, una discesa agli inferi in un paese che era democratico, che era moderno ed invece è ricaduta indietro di 100 anni c’è la guerra in cecenia, la brutalità dell’esercito Russo, la strage del teatro dubrovka, la strage della scuola di beslan, la giustizia “telefonata “ ed asservita al potere, la corruzione ed un popolo disorientato e perso , confuso che non capisce se vive nel 900, nel 800 oppure nel 2000.

È difficile fare una recensione di questo titolo, seppur datato, assolutamente consigliato se vogliamo comprendere la, purtroppo, drammatica situazione attuale, ma dolorosissimo.
La giornalista russa, tramite la sua analisi, mette in luce diverse problematiche del suo Paese, a partire dalle falle del sistema giudiziario, asservito ai poteri dello Stato e non al servizio del singolo cittadino "In ottemperanza alle direttive dall'alto, la procura ha finito per modificare il ruolo che la Costituzione le assegna. Il Pubblico Ministero rappresenta la pubblica accusa, tenuta in primo luogo a salvaguardare gli interessi dello Stato. [...] Come il re nudo non aveva abiti addosso, il nostro Paese non ha mai avuto una tradizione giudiziaria, né un autentico potere giudiziario. Il giudice Gorbačëva ne è un esempio. I suoi datori di lavoro non siamo noi, cittadini contribuenti, ma quelli che l'hanno messa dov'è, e allora, per paura che le tolgano i privilegi e i vantaggi del suo status, non può far altro che rigettare ogni istanza sgradita", le tecniche di persuasione politica e di lavaggio del cervello tramite i vari media "la televisione non faceva che ripetere con quanta onestà Budanov avesse compiuto il proprio dovere e il generale Šamanov appariva continuamente in video con i suoi bei discorsi patriottici in onore dell'intrepido compagno d'armi; la politica aveva ordinato di lavare il cervello alla popolazione, e questo era quel che si stava facendo a spronare battuto in attesa di una sentenza assolutoria", la corruzione che serpeggia liberamente anche tra chi, invece, dovrebbe lavorare per combatterla "Questa è l'epoca degli oligarchi. l'unico fruscio che il potere intende non è quello delle fronde, ma delle mazzette delle banconote", il sistema militare russo che mira a schiacciare il singolo "nulla è cambiato, nell'esercito, compreso il concetto perverso dell'onore l'ufficiale da difendere sempre e comunque, e che conta più della vita e della dignità dei soldati: i soldati sono degli schiavi degli ufficiali, gli ufficiali hanno sempre ragione e possono fare quello che vogliono dei propri sottoposti" e la persecuzione nei confronti il popolo ceceno "Attacchi razzisti e purghe sotto l'egida della polizia sono diventati routine. Basta un attimo per perdere la vita, la casa, il lavoro, la terra sotto ai piedi...e la ragione è una sola: sono ceceni."
Durante la lettura ho avvertito più volte brividi alla schiena (come dimenticare la vicenda della povera El'za Kungaeva) a volte mi sembrava di leggere fatti risalenti alle purghe staliniana del '37, mentre sono vicende accadute quasi l'altro ieri, tant'è che anche la stessa autrice fa spesso questo genere di paragoni:"Pare Stalin, dicevano. Anche lui era amico dei bambini"ma intanto "In Cecenia i militari continuano a comportarsi come è stati loro permesso da che la guerra è iniziata: pensano di essere in un poligono di tiro senza nessuno intorno, bambini compresi. [...] La Russia ha già avuto governati di questa risma. Ed è finita in tragedia. In un bagno di sangue. In guerre civili. Io non voglio che accada di nuovo. Per questo ce l'ho con tipico čekista sovietico che ascende al trono di Russia incidendo trionfio sul tappeto rosso del Cremlino."
Anna Politkovskaja ha scoperchiato il vaso di Pandora e ne ha pagato le conseguenze con la sua stessa vita, ma possiamo trovare la speranza?

Politkovskaya's bleak outlook can be a bit hard to take in large doses. I picked up this book to re-read in light of the current situation in Ukraine. Putin's Russia is one that is unseen and virtually unfathomable to western readers - especially those that haven't spent a lot of time on the ground outside of Moscow or St. Petersburg.
One of the quotes that I picked up on during this reading concerns the stability of the Russian state.
A country as rich, as beautiful, and with as much history as Russia deserves better governance - but its history is so hard to escape.

Yes, stability has come to Russia. It is a monstrous stability under which nobody seeks justice in courts that flaunt their subservience and partisanship. Nobody in his or her right might seeks protection from the institutions entrusted with maintaining law and order, because they are totally corrupt. Lynch law is the order of the day, both in people's minds and in their actions. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. The president himself has set an example by wrecking our major oil company, Yukos, after having jailed its chief executive....Putin considered Khodorovsky to have slighted him personally, so retaliated.

I have to admit I don't care overly much for Anna Politkovskaya's writing style. An objective reporter she is not (or rather was not -- she was murdered a few years after publishing this book); her indignation at the social ills she exposes comes across loud and clear, and she frequently goes so far as to tell her reader to share her indignation, occasionally to the point of being rather insistent. Personally, I would have appreciated a slightly more objective, less cynical approach. That said, there is no denying that Politkovskaya had good cause to be indignant, and her writing succeeds in making the reader share that indignation, or rather pessimism. It's hard to remain optimistic about Russia's future after reading this book. The present doesn't seem to offer much scope for hope.
In Putin's Russia Politkovskaya describes in seven chapters what has happened since Vladimir Putin assumed power in the Kremlin. She starts out by charting abuses in the army, more specifically in parts of the army stationed in Chechnya. This turns into a lengthy and fairly shocking expose of corruption in Russia's legal system, where high-ranking army officers are exonerated from terrible crimes and where the rich and well-connected get away with absolutely outrageous business practices. She then describes poverty in the navy (apparently the commanders working on the world's most expensive submarines are nearly starving to death), the terrible position of Chechen citizens in Russia and the aftermath of the Nord-Ost and Beslan disasters. It all adds up to a rather dreary conclusion: Putin's Russia is an utterly callous and corrupt place which in many regards seems to be regressing into Soviet-style politics and situations. In fact, some things now seem to be worse than they were during the worst years of the Soviet era. I already knew that from the news, but reading Politkovskaya's stories really drove the fact home for me.
As I said, I don't care much for Politkovskaya's writing style, but there's no doubt that she has come up with a convincing, well-researched document here. She quotes many interesting people from all walks of life, has unearthed many legal documents to illustrate her stories and comes up with some wry observations about why certain changes for the better took place at a certain time (usually coinciding with the visit of some foreign dignitary Putin wished to impress) and about the Russian national character in general. It's a bit heavy-going at times, and some of the army stuff drags, but even so it's a powerful indictment of Putin's Russia, always shocking and occasionally quite mind-boggling.

Abia acum am inteles ce se petrece in Rusia de atata vreme si, cumva, imi dau seama ce a dus la acest cumplit razboi din Ucraina.
Nu as fi crezut ca sunt posibile degradarea din sistemul de aparare si cruzimea manifestate fata de cei aflati in serviciul militar rus, crimele din razboaiele cecene, masinariile oligarhiilor rusi (ceva ca intr-un film SF), nu imi imaginam amploarea coruptiei, nu stiam despre persecutia cecenilor din Rusia, pe scurt - nu aveam idee cat de reala si inspaimantatoare este dictatura lui Putin.
Nu stiam nici despre masacrele de la Nord-Ost si Beslan si nu credeam ca este posibil asa ceva in vremurile noastre, intr-o societate avansata.
Anna Politkovskaya scrie foarte bine si simti empatia ei, simti de unde izvoraste curajul ei de a arata lumii toate aceste lucruri care au deranjat si au dus la uciderea ei : din revolta, din mila, din frustrare, din dorinta de a salva ceva...este un strigat de ajutor.
Puțini sunt cei care si-ar risca viata pentru adevar. Mai trist este ca, desi ea a tras un puternic semnal de alarma acum 8 ani, nu s-au luat masuri de catre celelalte state. Poate ca razboiul din Ucraina ar fi putut fi evitat.
