This is a reissue that has not been substantially changed. A younger man bent on seduction, an older woman determined to resist, and a love that could not be denied. Jameson McEwan, known to almost everyone as Jamie, is happy with her lot in life. Married young to a powerful older man, she has had little romance and very little experience with men—other than ordering them around on her ranch. She’d actually been in love with her first husband not knowing he had seen it as an arranged marriage. After that heartbreak she is reluctant to even think about a marriage based on love again. Seth Conner has always wanted Jamie. From the moment he met her, his best friend’s older sister has been a bit of an obsession for him. Even at the age of sixteen he knew he wanted her, but she was married to another man. And, sensing her reluctance, he never acted on his desires even after she became a widow. That is, until she says she’s marrying another man. He decides he has waited long enough. Jamie never expected to find herself in bed, tied up and shivering with desire, especially not with Seth. But through one night and day filled with passion, she finds him as addictive as liquor. She knows it will never last. She is older and has too much responsibility. But, when he refuses to take no for an answer, she begins to think that maybe things could be different. But someone is hell bent on making sure the two of them never find happiness and will do anything—including murder—to keep them from succeeding. » Explicit sex, spanking, seduction by a younger man, a little bit of bondage for fun, and a whole lot of teasing guaranteed to make ya hot under the collar and enough passion to give your spurs a twirl.
This book is a well written, fast paced can’t put it down kind of read a wonderful story of romance in the old west. This has it all; the young widow, the bad man who wants to marry her because her ranch is doing better than his (but not because of anything she has done in his opinion), and her younger brothers sexy best friend and partner who has had a crush on her forever. It is tough in the old west. Tougher if you are a single woman but Jameson McEwan has been thriving since her husband died but some folks can’t stand the thought of a woman succeeding. I loved everything about this book from the cover to the end.
The Seduction Of Widow McEwen By Melissa Schroeder Seth Connor has been in love with his best friend Jackson Calder's older sister, Jamie since he was sixteen. Seth and Jackson own The Double C horse ranch together. Seth wanted Jamie, but at the time of their first meeting, she was already married. At an early age, Jamie becomes a widow and is now in charge of her ranch. Tucker Portman, a neighbor, wants to marry Jamie so that they can combine their ranches. He is known for shady deals, expensive tastes in women and two dead wives. Jackson is concerned that Jamie will marry Portman and they have an argument over it. Seth never told Jackson about his feelings for his sister and panics when he thinks Jamie might accept Portman's marriage proposal. Needing to go to San Antonio for some business, Seth volunteers to go with Jamie. Jamie's husband Sid was not the best husband. He spent a lot of his time frequenting whores in town and not taking care of her needs. While they are in San Antonio, Seth makes his move. They make love. Seth tells Jamie that they are getting married, doesn't ask her. Because her last marriage was so bad, she proposes an affair instead. When they return home, Jackson asks how it went, after telling him the story, including that Jackson's father basically sold off Jamie to Sid to settle a gambling debt, Jackson advises Seth to ask Jamie, not TELL her. Seth works to win Jamie over. During this time she is kidnapped by Portman. Jamie realizes that she might not have had the chance to tell Seth how she really feels about him. Seth rescues her and she tells him how she feels, including accepting his marriage proposal. This is a novella that takes place in the old west. Jamie was a strong woman who continues to run the ranch after the death of her husband. She has to deal with workers who make comments and an evil man who wants to marry her so he can take over her land. It has a hero willing to let Jamie be who she is. Even though there was an age difference between Seth and Jamie, it didn't matter to him and he waited many years to finally be able to love her. This was a great quick read and I highly recommend it.
Growing up faster than she would have liked, Jameson "Jamie" McEwan went through life shielding people from what she felt & dealt with. Jamie managed to raise herself while dealing with a horrible marriage that came about while she was too young to know any better. When that ended, she worked hard to become successful running a ranch that many didn't feel she would be able to run.
Seth Conner was the son of politicians and the best friend of Jamie's younger brother. Seth has been in love with Jamie since he first met her when he was 16 but he has never acted on his feelings.
As the years progressed, Seth and Jamie became good friends, but she only seen him as family and a good friend. He was always there to back her on her choices when her brother and father believed she was too weak/woman to hold her own. When Jamie began to face issues with her ranch and danger became something that to worry about, Jamie's brother pushed Seth to occumpany Jamie on her travels. This was also to keep possible love interest away as well.
This journey brought the two close together and truly brought the heat to the story. The story wasn't long, but the tension built between the couple in order to lead to them finally breaking. They have to battle with their feelings and what they have been holding inside for years. It makes the end result that much sweeter.
I loved this story. Jamie and Seth were amazing together!
A solid romance just long enough for me to get sucked into the characters and satisfy my romance cravings all in one sitting. Just as in her military romances the women are strong minded and the men will do anything to be with them. Jameson, or Jamie, is a widow running a profitable ranch. Seth, her brother's best friend, sees an opportunity to finally get the woman he's been in love with for years. Although this is a short story the buzz around them is sharp and clearly the love is electrifying. Done with dual POV the story moves smoothly and ends with a bit of suspense. My copy was given for my honest review.
This novella is such a sweet love story. Two people who have been friends for years finally admit that they love each other. Danger brings them closer together. The sex scenes are hot and satisfying. I only wish the bad guy suffered more.
This is a delightful tale with touches of intrigue and drama, lots of charm, some heartache, and enough steam to keep you thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. Seth has loved Jamie for a very long time and Jamie’s feelings for Seth have gotten deeper over time, but they’ve kept their feelings to themselves. That is until a misunderstanding forces Seth to make his move. Of course, nothing is going to be easy when dealing with a hard-headed, independent woman. When Seth has to take a step back and rethink his strategy, things seem to be moving in the right direction. But when someone’s determined to mess with Jamie’s ranch, placing Jamie’s life in jeopardy, all bets are off. It’s a quick, fast paced read that you will really enjoy.
Loved how these two knew what they wanted, but while one was all in, the other needed some convincing. The commitment and love they had for each other, and the crazy chemistry between them, that was never in question. It took some time and effort on his part to get her around to his way of thinking 😉
