I have read several books of this author which I loved. This one wasn't holding up to my expectations.
I had the feeling it wasn't thought through enough.
First, 18 years don't seem long enough for all the technical development. If it would have started in the future and not 2014, near present day, maybe another 18 years wouldn't have felt so unbelievable.
Then the after care or lack of it puzzled me. Hard to believe that there aren't more investigations done but instead he gets kicked out after a day bearly thawed.
Plus, there is the chance of rebirth in the same town. How likely is that?

Apart from these unbelievable, there are faults too, like Natalie's "reborn" who is described as woman, but she can only be barely 19 considering the time that has passed since her death/birth…

The basic idea nonetheless was interesting. What if the soul is reborn and then the old body relived? But then again, why would the soul have to go back to the previous person??

I also didn't like Oliver. He is, although he has his soul back, very selfish and doesn't think of the poor person who's soul has been ripped out. He just wants his family and girlfriend back, finishing his life he couldn't live to the end.

No, this book got on my nerves, I finished it at least, but no more than 2.5 stars.

I have to say that I didn't find this book to be engaging enough it wasn't deep enough to me for the subject of this book .

Extension was so much more than I expected! I really loved the story and I especially fell in love with the characters. Fans of YA sci-fi books must add this book to their to-be-read piles.

The beginning of Extension threw me off a little and I actually didn’t know if the book would work for me. There wasn’t anything wrong with the beginning, but I assumed the rest of the book would be heavy with the sci-fi stuff (I’m more into sci-fi/fantasy lite books). I’m so glad I kept reading because I truly enjoyed the storyline. The pace was great and I never grew bored with the plot. The sci-fi elements were there, but they never overwhelmed the story.

The book is told in two points of view: Oliver and Colby. I could tell from the get go that the two have some sort of connection and I was intrigued over how the author planned to tie their stories together. Colby was AMAZING! Loved his character.

The biggest surprise for me about the book was how funny it turned out to be. I loved the dark humor in Colby’s chapters and I found myself giggling more than once while reading.

Extension is a must read for both adults and teens!

Oliver Conroy is the tenth patient to be revitalized by Velcron after having been geocentrically frozen for eighteen years. Oliver's return to the living has serious consequences since his reincarnated soul already belonged to another. Colby Patterson, a kind, straight A student, is in the middle of school speech when his soul is ripped away. Without a soul Colby quickly descends into a cold-blooded psychopath. (He also happens to be my favorite character in this inventive YA novel.) The story follows each boy as they deal with their new circumstances. While Oliver struggles to integrate into the highly-technical world of the living, Colby is on the hunt-- going to any lengths necessary to get his soul back.

L. V. Pires has crafted YA Sci-Fi gem. A stunning read with a natural flow that easily immerses the reader almost immediately. The plot is incredibly unique and I loved getting to know the characters and the strange places and happenings surrounding them. Fans of YA Sci-Fi/Fantasy--this is the book for you!

*I received an ARC of Extension in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

Extension is a fast-paced sci-fi novel that will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next. Revitalization isn't all it's cracked up to be, as Oliver soon finds out. He is a sweet, likeable lead character. Colby starts out just the same, but quickly morphs into Oliver's exact opposite. LV does an excellent job portraying the dark in Colby vs the light in Oliver. Fantastic debut novel.

This YA novel is a fast paced futuristic thriller in which nature and technology collide with astounding consequences. L.V. Pires creates a world that has evolved with its technology but remains consistent with the basic elements of humanity— love and hope. The ethical question of should humans use our knowledge of science and technology to interfere with nature, begs to be answered. In a way, this is a futuristic "Frankenstein" of sorts. I truly enjoyed how Pires pays attention to the pop culture, fashion, and trends of the teens in this book and she even creates slang language for them. Every detail about her world is thought out in great detail and immerses the reader into a new, but completely believable, place.
