Zoa Hunter is an interesting Japanese language SciFi work. The setup is that our hero, Kurokawa Takeshi, ends up becoming a part of a secret governmental task force assigned to take out creatures known as Zoa (or the Greek word Zoon if taking down a single one instead of a group). Zoa were the failed offspring of a science experiment conducted that was meant to curb overpopulation problems by altering DNA so humans became extremophiles, able to live in any harsh, arid climate in the world.
There's action, there's drama, there's romance. I was really entertained by this despite the language gap at times. It's got some James Bond style DNA, it's got some Blassereiter DNA. Just a good mix of the melodrama I like.
This is a more mature novel, so there are some sexual situations. There's nothing explicit in the actual images from volume 1 though, just the text.
I would heartily recommend this. Ask your English publishers to get this one stateside!
