Avatar: The Last Airbender--Jet--Rebels and Rhinos

Before he was the charismatic leader of a rebel guerilla group, Jet was a desperate kid determined to take revenge...

After his village is destroyed by the Fire Nation Army's elite unit known as the Rough Rhinos, Jet's life's goal becomes making Colonel Mongke and his cavalry of soldiers pay for their crimes. But in a war-torn kingdom, who's going to adopt a child's mission of revenge? Jet uses his powers of persuasion to gather a small but determined force of other young people who are looking for something different in the midst of a community. When Jet has his chance to confront Mongke, will he throw away the found family he's helped to build in pursuit of vengeance?

A brand-new tale of adventure from the world of The Last Airbender revealing Jet's origins, from writer Faith Erin Hicks, artist Peter Wartman, colorist Adele Matera, and letters by Comicraft.

Born in the wilds of British Columbia, the young Faith frolicked among the Sasquatch native to the province before moving to Ontario at age five. There she was homeschooled with her three brothers, and developed an unnatural passion for galloping around on horseback, though never without a proper helmet (because you only get one skull). After twenty years of suffering through Ontario’s obscenely hot summers, she migrated east, and now lives beside the other ocean in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She worked in animation for a bit, and now draws comics full time. She’s not sure how that happened either.

It’s a story about Jet’s past and his road to becoming leader of the Freedom Fighters.

It happened more or less like imagined it and with its limited pages felt a little unfulfilling and forced somehow…

Also I missed Duke :(

This was a quick and fun story about Jet and how he formed his Freedom Fighters. I really liked Smellerbee and Longshot, so it was cool to see them when they were younger.

Thank you to the publisher for this free eARC! All opinions are my own.

Before Jet met Avatar Aang, he was alone after the Fire Nation destroyed his village. This is the story of how Jet built his family. #Edelweiss+

Jet is one of my favorite side characters from ATLA, so any comic involving him and his past was an immediate buy.

This was fun! I liked seeing how his little group was put together. I want more about Jet and his psychology.

This was a nice backstory on the building of Jet's gang. It gives us insight into how he met Smellerbee, Longshot, and Pipsqueak. I think this story is a true Jet story, showcasing the personality and drive we all know. A nice addition to the AtLA and TLoK universe.

Not bad. Explores Jet's origins and how he grew his adopted family before meeting the Avatar. It's short. Only 80 pages.

Nice little backstory for Jet. Didn’t add or take away anything from the main storyline though.

This is a cool one, I like how it feels like Jet is falling in the hole we later see him in ATLA. And how he’s way of being foreshadows how he ends up in Ba Sing Se.

I liked the insight to the start of Jet's freedom fighters and I thought the art of the young versions of them was very well done
