—Natalie Cromwell is an unassuming, and intelligent beauty and soon-to-be college grad. —Cameron James is a hot, hardworking, and wealthy businessman.
Their lives crossed paths purely by chance. Visiting his sister in school, Cam sees Nat and instantly realizes that she's the one. Natalie on the other hand is very interested but skeptical. Time and distance tear apart their relationship, just as she believed it would, but she didn't realize that Cam wouldn't give up. Excerpt: "It still galled me that she was with someone else. I wondered if they’d been together before the party and were just coming out again as a couple. Either way, it really didn’t matter—she was mine. Nobody was going to take her from me.
Tonight, she’d have the ring to prove it. I’d just picked it up that afternoon of the accident. It was a four-carat solitaire diamond with a platinum band. When you looked at the ring, it looked like a normal huge rock, but it was the inscription that mattered: No choice, you’re stuck with me."
This is my first review of this book but it's a reread. I read this book before I started reviewing and I had given it 5 stars. I honestly can't do this after my reread. I had too many small issues with the book to do this.
Now the story it's about an experienced businessman named Cameron and a young university graduate named Nathalie. Cam sees Nat from across the student union and falls hard for her. Obsessed is more the word here he tells her as soon as they meet: "I’m leaving to go back to Seattle in the morning, but as far as I’m concerned, you and I are together.” I got that she would be shocked by my words, but she’d get over it in time. I’d given her two days too many already." Wow, a whole two days he was clearly taking his time here...NOT! Yeah so he was clearly GONE FOR HER.
Now Nathalie was shocked by his declaration but also she was extremely attracted to Cam. To her, he seemed to be a force of nature that no one could stop! She asked him: “So I’ve got no choice?” And he answers "No. No choice. You’re mine.” So he seemed to have it all planned out for them in two months time. They will be together after she graduates from University. He will clear up his work schedule so that they can spend time together and start on their future. Clearly he is planing for them to get married, move in together and have a family. THE WHOLE HEA HERE!
However, it's never that simple now is it!? And honestly the book would have bored me here without all the drama. It made the book more enjoyable and exciting. We have two obsessed other women, a major misunderstanding, a crazy stalker or two, and the parents from HELL! So will they overcome all these obstacles? I am afraid you have to
Generally, I enjoyed this book and the sex scenes were really HOT baby making scenes. It was a great story that had enough drama and romance to keep me interested. It was an engaging book but it was not perfect. It has a few minor editing issues here that I had overlooked the first time I read it. These are minor for me as it didn't interfere with my comprehension. However, I felt it needed to be mentioned. One example: the book writes "causal lay" instead of "casual lay." Along with the usual mistakes like...
Now I don't claim to be perfect myself here but this is a published book so, I expect more. This was a minor issue here and it's the only reason why I could not give it a 5 stars that I had originally gave it. The story by itself deserves a 5 star! OVERALL I LOVED IT!
Safety: no cheating (but the heroine does kiss her ex while they are broken up and wanted to have sex with him) some drama, some pushing from the heroine, no condoms (never mentioned the past use either). Heroine is a virgin and hero is experienced.
Let me preface my review by saying that if you really enjoy OTT alpha males who see a woman & immediately classify her as the one to bed, wed, and breed for life based on nothing more than one look -and- then proceeds to just walk up to her and inform her of her new role and place in life as his, then you will fing love this book.
Their Insta Love & Flat Soap Opera Isn't My Cup'a
For me, I don't particularly mind Insta-love like the above IF it's also either surrounded by grounding normalcy scenes afterward or forms in the midst of some kind of high octane emotional situation. This provided neither of the above and therefore came across as silly bullshit vs endearing for me.
It came across as a soap opera style with a very flat delivery. The characters are stick figures in the book; by 27%, I can tell you she's a student who has f'd up parents and he's a business man that says "fuck" a lot. Otherwise, I can't tell you a single personal quality about either, and that's a huge problem for me as a reader. If I don't get to the know the character, I can't connect... And if I don't connect, IDGAF about their plights and relationship.
I'll Kill You
I also have a huge problem with the MMC telling the FMC this:
"If you ever let another man put his hands on what's mine, I'll kill you."
^ What's worse is that this is coming from a man that's spent ONLY a few hours actually with her and a few weeks on the phone with her. So, that is said literally the second time the characters interact. Wow~
Editor
Book also needs an editor to clean up the typos.
DNF
I gave it 30% to hook me, warm up, develop, make me GAF in any way, and it just never managed to give me anything of interest.
This guy I knew 7 years ago who disappeared during high school dm’d me on Instagram asking how I was. Barely remembered him, but we just exchanged simple conversation & I felt it‘d be rude of me to ignore. Anyway, he has 100K followers on Instagram right? And at one point tells me that he gets a LOT of attention. I’m thinking ok whatever, idc. Then I say “I remember u went a little awol in school, were you okay?”, and GUYS he FLIPS his lid on me. Literally swearing everywhere saying don’t say he went f*ing awol, he was always THERE, and he’s not a soft guy who will take sh*t like that. And calmly proceeds to ask me if I have a boyfriend. Wtf!! Literally I was MINDBLOWN, said “goodbye, take care” (internally thinking you freaking fragile psycho). Before I can block him, he replies immediately saying “why the f am I triggered saying goodbye, don’t f’ing say goodbye and to answer his question on whether I have a boyfriend or am I a whore”.
LONG STORY SHORT, this hero gave me those vibes in this book and it makes me feel icky with the lowkey abusive undertones. Like it actually feels very threatening rather than dominant/alpha.
Said he’d kill her at one point in a rage of jealously. Not kill someone ELSE, but HER. Irony being she’s a frigging virgin anyway and he’s not. 🤷♀️
“Damn it, Nat. Stop looking like your world is going to crumble. If you don’t quit your shit, I’m going to go down to Springfield and choke that bitch you call a mother and shoot that fuck you call a father.” He grabbed my chin and tilted it so his eyes met mine.
And I HATE men like this. I hate that they’re glamourised. Because it’s just pathetic that this behaviour is excusable, and I think a lot of women find themselves in relationships like these because of this narrative.
So DNF about 50% through. Thing is, maybe a couple of years ago I would’ve given this story 4 stars, but not anymore. Crap storytelling and characters.
I usually really like books by this author, but this one was pretty much a hot mess from start to finish! Nat was whiny and juvenile. Cam was competing with Patrick Bateman (American Psycho) as the King of all psychopaths (minus the murder). Everything was so OTT with drama, and ridiculousness. He bought a twelve bedroom mansion, for realz! Seven hundred people were trying to kill both of them, cause, why not?? It seemed to drag on and on, and really could have been fifty pages shorter.
That being said, I totally want to read Simon's book! :D
This was ok. I enjoyed most of it. love how OTT hero was. At times it was a little too crazy but haha I loved it.
safe with exception I guess. some ow and om drama. I believe the heroine might of kissed or made out with her ex. Not sure if it happened or was about to happened again.
Heroine is a cheater(she kisses another guy and even agrees to sleep with him) so not safe for me! if the hero had done this he would be crucified but its the heroine who is the cheater here so ppl are ok with it. Double standards!
C.M. Steele to s one of my favorite authors. She writes OTT alpha males. Heroes who are so possessive and protective. Heroes who aren't shy or afraid to show their care love for the heroines. It was a good read for me and safe in a way. Well, it depends to a reader. The book has OW scene but it was a very short one and nothing happened. There's also a scene of OM, ex-boyfriend of Nat. She went to a part because she thought Cameron was cheating on her but the OW just made up stories. And there was an accident too that led to Cameron and Nat's misunderstanding. Which led her to her ex-boyfriend. I'm not really sure if the ex-boyfriend was able to kiss her because Cam arrived but i think, he wasn't able to do it because he was pulled away by Cam. And the heroine was a virgin. Cam was celibate months before they met. There were other issues in the book but it was easily solved and for me, it's still a light easy read. What I like about C.M. Steele's books is that even if there were scenes like these, she still manages to make it light. And there's an epilogue too. So for me, it's a great read. Waiting for the second book.
This definitely has a Jordan Silver feel to it, but it didn’t really work for me. It feels super silly/immature and didn’t have enough action or smut for an OTT/ drama-llama only plot.
Cam is a billionaire playboy that is visiting his sister at college when he sees Natalie. He’s immediately ZAP stung by the love bug and tells her he has to leave, but she’s his and he’ll be back.
My issues… ⛔ The smut takes forever to get going ⛔ The caveman alpha bordered on abusive rather than sexy. They’re usually obsessed and overprotective not enraged. ⛔ The OW drama was small and boring. ⛔ Huge chunks with nothing going on.
Bottom Line- I found it boring and skimmed HUGE chunks. The end picks up, but it doesn’t really flow… rather just random speedbumps chucked in the storyline. There’re four random events (OW-1, OW-2, OM, villain) but nothing felt connected or set up, so it flowed… and they’re all dispatched very quickly. I love soap, but I need it to be somewhat logical/realistic… this is just silly.
Bored and do not care about these characters at all. The book does not flow. The hero is supposed to be crazy, OTT alpha. I found him a bore. Just did not work for me. Certainly a safe read.
Cameron James doesn't really have the time with his busy schedule but he wants to check on his sister who is in her Freshman year in college. He had not expected to meet his one though, Natalie Cromwell. How to tell a girl he has never met that she is meant to be his, he has no clue. He can't stay and court her properly, he has two days. Fortunately Natalie is interested but leery about a long distance relationship with a man she doesn't know.
This was good but had a couple of moments where I thought Cameron was way over the top. I liked the concept though. Natalie is fun, she is spirited and although Cameron is pure alpha male she puts him in his place where need be.
I see the potential in this author and it is the type of story I love. Hot alpha who finds the woman he wants to be with and is overly protective of her. The way they meet and the way he is with her in the beginning is over the top, but I was willing to accept it because I love those type of heroes and I wanted to read this book for a mindless read. The story was there, but it lacked execution or became ridiculous.
Once Cameron seen Natalie in her college cafeteria, he gave her no choice but to be his!!! Lots of drama, crazy stalkers, obsessive alpha men, all around really good book!!
This one is written in classic Alexa Riley style: Rich alpha hero, virgin heroine, the insta-love, the instant chest beating and moaning of "mine!," etc. What made me DNF this one is that the writing felt flat. I can't bring myself to care about the characters since they read like cardboard.
I also didn't care for the soap opera that I saw was about to start.
By the time I DNF'd this book, the hero had mysteriously picked up "enemies" who tried to kill him (he's hurt and in a wheelchair! *gasp!*). The heroine got a phone call from a woman pretending to be his fiancee - and the hero says that she was a random girl he dated a few times. Of course, he told the heroine none of this, leading to a scene where he shows up with guys threatening to kill any man who touches the heroine. That was when I knew I was done. AR doesn't give me such BS.
Welp...I made myself finish this one. I told myself it might surprise me and get better. It didn't. I didn't think it was the worst book ever, but the flow of the book was off and it felt a bit disjointed. It had everything I look for in a book...OTT hero, possessive, steamy scenes...I just didn't feel it. Sigh. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood to read it. I did like the dual POV though.
If you get hot and bothered by Alpha males and insta love then this book is for you! I'll confess the first 20% were a little hard to get into but once I got over the intro, its like I was reading another book. I loved all the crazy alpha behavior and mega insta love. The drama was a bit over the top but so was the whole story, which worked. There's nothing more exasperating than trying to read a story which tries so hard to be normal and realistic only to have that all ruined by crazy out of this world drama. This story was consistent through the beginning. Although it was hard to relate to the male lead in the intro, he quickly weasel himself into your heart. Quick and fun read.
Completely safe.... But no depth to the story. It reminded me of an Alexa Riley book without the copious amount of sex. And as we all know, what's the point of an Alexa Riley book besides the scorching scenes???
I have read this book once before. As I didn’t write reviews at the time, I never wrote or posted one. As I have just re read this book, I decided to write a short review. No choice is book one in the James family series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. Just like the first time I read this story, I read it in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. I liked Cameron but I will say, he annoyed me at times. I understood why he wasn’t trusting but he knew what was going on in Natalie’s life. His accusations towards her irritated me a little. He loved her yet he didn’t trust her at times. The ex at the party fair enough but having known what her parents were like, the George situation accusation annoyed me. I liked Natalie. My heart ached for her over the way her parents had treated her. I liked that despite a tiny bit of resistance, she gave Cameron a chance. The chemistry between Natalie and Cameron was clear to see and I really liked them as a couple. I was amused by Cameron’s possessiveness but his love for Natalie was undeniable. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait to re read the rest of this series.
I couldn't finish this. The characters were overdramatic and unbelievable, like a soap opera. I kept trying to push through, but it was hard. I stopped right after Natalie was thinking about Cam and said "my pussy juiced." Now, I've read my fair share of NA romances with a lot of erotica that had some cringey stuff, but that one really took the cake. Yuck.
Cam and Natalie were both immature, and Cam did not come off as a respectable Hero. When Heroes are written to be OTT, protective, possessive, and jealous Alphas, they never threaten the heroine (unless the book is specifically advertised as a DARK romance, which this was not). Cam gets in Natalie's face and literally threatens to kill her. The book reads: "....I was so angry I took her into my arms and threatened the shit out of her. 'If you ever let another man put his hands on what's mine, I'll kill you,' I growled as I stared at her."
What the hell?! Even if the Hero is advertised as crazy, they never threaten the heroine, unless it's a dark romance. And even then, it's by way of revenge of some sort, never because some other guy touched her.

This would be my second time reading this book. I like it very much but I just have a hard time not comparing it to the authors other books. Because I love this author so much and I’ve read many of her books, I know that this could have been so much better. The writing could have been better, the plot, and the drama. Gosh the drama!!!! It was a little over the top. I mean left and right unnecessarily things where going on. I feel like it just dragged the story along. I get it it wouldn’t be a good story with out good drama but still to much. Other than that I liked where this could have went. Again second time reading it. I would have given a four star but I just didn’t feel like this book lived up to the authors true potential.
Where are all the reviews? Well uh.....he's ready yall! Ready to be carefully put into a white jacket and a padded room 😂😂 He sees her and tells her he's BIG IMPORTANT MAN doing her honor of staying at his sisters college for another day to find out who she is.
Listen linda, the writing was very juvenile and she giggles a lot. I couldn't handle that hot dog shiet okur.
Guess where I got this recommendation? That's right. In the Facebook book group. Y'all are built different. Sometimes I get good reccs. Other times.....I get 5 month old hot dog water recs.
Dnf. so no rating. Giggle.
