***WARNING*** This novel contains explicit language, sex, drugs, violence, and sexual situations that some might find offensive. This book is intended for adults 18+ years of age. It's a twisted tale about the road of prostitution and is considered a dark read. Enjoy.

In my world, there is no such thing as love. It is just a lie we whisper into our client’s ear. Love is foreign and hazardous. What I did not expect was to bare my soul to a man who is as egotistical as he is dangerous.

His name is Landon. Despite his blackened soul, he tried to save me, but what he didn't expect was my torturous fate to catch up with me.
To your father, I'm the escort.
To your mother, I'm the whore.
To the legal system, I'm the prostitute.
In the end, I'm just the other woman.
I have no idea if I will continue to survive, if I will ever find my path aside from the gritty streets I know so well. There is a good chance I will wind up in the ditch like most women in my position. Surrendering to my fate is the only choice I have. I must relinquish it all.

When I'd quickly breezed over the book blurb for Reliquish, I honed in on one word...ESCORT. A self-proclaimed escort fanatic, it took me 2.5 seconds to request an early copy for review. What I didn't quite grasp was that this book is about a FEMALE escort (darn) but the book was still quite enjoyable, nonetheless.

Relinquish is the story of a young 18-year old girl named Charlie (short for Charlotte). She's lived a rough life within the foster care system after her mother was brutally murdered when she was 9-years old. She witnessed the attack, however, all she remembers is the tattooed back of the shooter...black wings spanning his back.

Charlie is now turning 18 and happily getting the heck out of dodge- freedom, on her own...until her 17-year old foster sister joins along. Living on the streets in Las Vegas with almost zero cash, the girls quickly find the fastest way to make a buck for their rent. An honest living will bring a paper trail they don't need for her underage runaway sister. So one quick, innocent blowjob in the back of a college-boy's pickup starts the ball rolling...I mean the cash rolling.

Charlie never dreamed of being a whore. In fact she's ashamed as hell for it, but she's got to put a roof over their heads. Signing on with the neighborhood pimp for protection seemed like smartest move...until she's abducted by a dark, brooding man in a suit, claiming he's getting back a girl her pimp stole from him. An eye for an eye apparently....

Landon is the head of the Blackwell Estate, a high-end escort service, providing his girls a life of luxury under his mansion roof. Most of his girls sign on for this gig, however, Charlie had no choice. She's been traded for the girl her dirty pimp stole from Landon. What Charlie doesn't bank on is her insane lust for the man she really should hate and his insane control he has over her body...

Relinquish was a fairly quick and easy read for me, providing a fair share of sexy times with a dominant virile man. Charlie's life within the inner city foster care system is a harsh reality and I can see her need to escape it as soon as she was legal. Some of her actions were a bit immature and most definitely risky, and I honestly think if I'd have been in a different mood while reading this, it probably would've really bothered me. She's a virgin when she ventures out on her own, I felt like her actions were somewhat understandable for her survival but there was one scene that was a bit...unbelievable..too far fetched.
But I digress...

The last third I really enjoyed, as it ramps up some suspense related to her mother's murder and had me feverishly turning the pages till the conclusion. Relinquish was an all-around steamy, suspenseful erotic standalone novel...

***I'd love a sequel with Roman and Jayden...just sayin'.

Ok this is a DNF for me, I'm so sorry I enjoyed the first 15% but it went downhill after that, I liked the synopsis and it seemed like an intriguing plot but I feel like I'm reading the start of Pretty Woman without the romance and that's my biggest issue for me, I need to know and feel a future in the couple I'm not feeling it (even with darker reads I usually feel a connection) plus the heroine is very immature no self respect for herself, I'm struggling. This is just me though, I know people who have enjoyed this book so please don't let me put you off! Just not my cuppa xo

TITLE: Relinquish
AUTHOR: M.N.Forgy
GENRE: Listed as dark
EXPECTED PUBLICATION: June 17th, 2015

Okkkkk so just under half way, there's a scene in the book that has kind of sent a red flag up.. Without going into detail and wrecking it for readers, I'll just state why a red flag has popped up, when something so terrible NEARLY occurs in your life you would expect the leading female character to be hysterical, raging against the world, upset, shaken by the experience, this female pops herself back up and then has an encounter with a guy..
Now getting into the characters shoes and if that was me I would be a freaking mess, I'd be crying, showing every emotion known, I get that nothing happened to her BUT, it was very very close..That scene there I would've expected to connect with the female on an emotional level, to cry with her, feel her shame, her disgust etc but I sadly didn't get that..
I know the girl is only young (18 years old) so you can expect her to be all over the place and in some places it is, some areas I found it hard to keep up, the decisions she made etc

I really really wanted to love this book because I have fan girled over this author from the beginning of time but this book (cringes) I just didn't get it and I am so so sorry for saying that, please please when this is released give it a chance and form your own opinions just keep that pitch fork away from my ass when you come hunt me down..Because you might even love this book..

There will be spoilers in this review

This may be a case of « It's me not you » so don't let my rating or my review deter you from reading this book.

I feel cheated by the blurb from the start and never throughout my read I could get past it. So I guess, the whole book was a big frustration for me and I think you can see it with my different updates.

If I have to find a word to summarize my feeling for the book, it would be : immature.

After reading the blurb, I thought I would read a book about an escort already established. But in fact what I get is a lost 18 years girl who's trying to live on her own and failing miserably.

Charlie never has a chance in life. She has been raised in a foster home after loosing her mother in dark circumstances. At 18, she decides to leave and live her own life.
She arrived in Vegas with no money, no contact, just with another foster kid who's underage.

The first part of the book made me scream because of how Charlie stupid is.
She makes a lot of mistakes, the first one is to take an underage girl with her.
Then when she receives money after some sexual acts, she is deluding herself in believing the guy is her boyfriend

description

The guy offers money after each blow-job and you think it's because he wants to be nice to you ?

description

When Landon saves her from a threatening situation, they ended up in a hotel room and what happen ? They have sex. Ok nothing wrong about it... maybe the fact that 2 hours before she was almost raped could be something traumatic for her, but eh why not... let the nonsense begin...

Did I mention that she was a virgin ?

description

Yeah because she's already thinking Landon is special and that they have a future together !
Imagine her face the next morning when Landon is nowhere to be found AND he left her money...

description

I won't explain much from there because there's a twist, very predictable in my opinion but still there's one.

They are more nonsense by the end of the book, some still very predictable by well maybe I'm being picky and some stuff can't surprised me anymore.

I'm sorry if my review is nasty. I don't usually write those but I'm still pissed about the all thing.
I hate it when I'm mislead by a blurb. And when I learned at the end of the book that it's Alessandra Torre who wrote it

description

I felt devastated because I love that author so much I'm feeling bad to even say the blurb is totally not in refection of what's in the book.

★★★ 3.5 Stars ★★★

This was a good one, I thought it was a unique idea for a story and I really enjoyed my reading experience, the only reason I am not rating it a full 4 stars, is because it was missing the x-factor for me. I thought the character development was good on Charlie's side, I just felt a little disconnected from Landon at times.

Charlie suffered a terrible traumatic experience at the age of nine, and has been in the care of the state ever since. The day she turns 18 she flees to Las Vegas along with her under-age foster sister Jayden.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and Charlie finds herself in an unhealthy relationship with the first man who shows her any interest, which in turn leads her to an extremely tricky situation whereby she is selling her body in order to survive.

Landon is a mystery, he has a family reputation to restore and a business that he needs to keep at the top of its game. He is drawn to Charlie but he has a rule, and that is not to get involved with escorts, especially given his line of work.

All Charlie has ever wanted is to be loved, but Landon has never really experienced love and so goes between keeping his distance and giving into his baser instincts.

"I want to be mad, be a pain in the ass, but I'm sick.
I'm fucked up and just want to feel something, feel someone and not be isolated with the inevitable loneliness."

A few things happened that I thought were a bit far-fetched, but overall I did think it was a good storyline and will definitely look into other books by this author.

This is a standalone novel, told in dual POV.

This book surprised me. It had, first and foremost, a very unique and fresh storyline.
Charlie has been alone her whole life. She grew up in foster care and she never had a real family. Her young life has been full of sorrow and misery. On her 18th birthday, she decides that she's had enough and decides to leave the foster home. She moves to Vegas in hopes that things will get better, that she will get a job.
But nothing gets better. Instead, she finds herself tricked. She realizes that when love comes with payment, it's not love at all. She realizes her naivety too late and now she only knows how to do one thing; sell her body for money.

 photo relinquish cover_zpsaav3jii5.jpg

When a handsome, but dark man comes to her rescue, she realizes that not everything is what it seems. Trapped in a world of immorality, prostitution and high class escorts, she is sure of one thing: she cannot escape Landon Blackwell. He saved her, took her and now she is his.

 photo relinquish_zpsetyiji5q.jpg

What I loved was how the heroine grew through her experiences. She made terrible mistakes and did things that I found completely reckless. But she was young and she didn't know any better.
Landon Blckwell was the most frustrating male character I've ever met! He was hot one moment and cold the next. He was powerful and he used that to his advantage. He fought to clean the Blackwell name.
The writing was great. The storyline kept surprising me!!!

This author has a fan in me...every book I have read of hers just pulls me in and doesn't let go. Her characters are flawed, strong, and possess a force about them that keeps you riveted to their story. You start this story from the beginning...a tragedy strikes and you can feel the momentum moving towards all worlds eventually colliding.

Strength comes in many forms, it can be from the life that you were given, the life that was taken or the surroundings that you are placed in; but in the end it's ultimately about how you survived. Charlie was made strong by circumstance, settings around her, and a pair of inked wings that have stained her past. Memories are just out of reach, life isn't kind and because of all of these elements choices are made that change her path. At 18 she is already deemed a survivor...

Landon isn't living the life he wants to live, but a promise was made to a woman he loved and so he does the best he can with what he has. A moment changed his life...and set his path...a run-in...a connection...a barter and BOOM all worlds collide.

Really enjoyed this story of life, love and forgiveness that comes to some easily and others at a high price.

Wah, this one much different from what I expected to begin my week family vacation with. *Thank god my hotel had wi-fi for my copy to register through my kindle!*

Relinquish is the story of survival, you against the world. It's about picking yourself up, being able to relying on your own wits and intuition to keep you alive, and protecting those you love.

I know that for some, this is not the read for you. Be warned that it does dredge up some gritty and traumatic content that may serve as triggers for some; and that it is not meant to upset anyone, but to instead, inform and help pave way of showcasing Charlie's trials of healing and self-salvation and preservation.

I will admit, that some of the plot, its pacing, and the characters and the outline are a little shaky and a bit discombobulated at times, but what do you expect from a female lead who’s only 18 and has gone through hell and back?

Relinquish has everything from forbidden love, sacrifice, murder, sex, dangerous upheavals, and unforeseen twists and turns!

Get ready to ‘relinquish’ yourself to the stellar writing of Ms. MN Forgy!

I enjoyed this one, a look into the escort business, I found it compelling and addictive. Think Pretty Woman with suspense. A bit of grit and some twistedness.

Charlie, a foster child that's blocked out the memory of her tragic past, the reason she's alone. Charlie and her spitfire friend take off to Vegas, finally free. But at what cost?

“I’m pretty sure when someone pays you after they blow their load, that makes you a dirty whore"

It's really does start off innocent. What are you willing to do to survive? I loved the gritty telling of selling your body, your soul. It was my favorite parts of the book, it's like holding your hand over your eyes and looking through your fingers. I was hooked.

“I’m a whore. A prostitute. I sleep with men and get paid for it"

Landon, the mysterious, sexy, addictive, alpha male. What is he hiding? I can't say much about him because I'll ruin it for you. But yummy. Will he save Charlie or use her like the whore she is? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

“Actually, an employee has the option to leave after their contract has expired.” He smirks and tilts his head to the side. “You are owned by the Blackwell Estate now.”

So, the end throws in two paths that crossed in tragedy. Was it fate? The ending was full of suspense, and my favorite, a bit of murder mixed with some twistedness. I was kinda sad I didn't get more about the escorts business. I'm hoping there's more to come. Can I come to the estate for a visit? You know, just to look around. I think I should beg MN Forgy for some more.

Fabulous read for risk takers, if you like some grit in your love stories!!

M.N. Forgy seductively hypnotize her readers to a world of madams, escorts and prostitution in Relinquish. Ms. Forgy engages the readers to relinquish their inhibitions and get lost in this dark romance that tells the story of Charlie and Landon. Charlie is haunted and plagued with a gruesome past. As a child of the Foster Care System, she was able to leave when she was of legal age. Life is not easy for Charlie until she meets Landon Blackwell. Landon and Charlie's relationship can only be defined as intense, passionate, and explosive. What challenges awaits this couple in this dark suspenseful romance tale?

#Relinquish

Overall, I enjoyed this quick read. It was hot, sexy, edgy and suspenseful. M.N. Forgy was able to keep her readers entertain with Landon and his domineering presence as this push and pull relationship between Charlie and he ignites. I definitely look forward to reading Jayden and Roman's book.

To be truly blown away by a book nowadays, when it seems like there are so many books in the world, is a feat. This is one of those books that, days later, will still have you thinking about it.

I don’t want to give a summary of this book because I feel like I may slip with one little detail and ruin the experience for you, so I will just say the story was awesome and well executed from start to end.

The main characters each have an attraction to the other; neither has felt anything like it before and it’s unexplainable as to why. The connection is almost instantaneous without being ridiculous. Neither is willing to act on it at first, but for very different reasons.

When they do, there should be a choir that sings, fireworks that go off, and angel’s descending from heaven. Yep, that good. I hope we get more of these characters in another book or three… Maybe about Jayden? Hint, Hint! I want more!! ~ Devlynn, 5 stars

“I was just trying to survive. I didn’t know I was becoming a whore.”

The definition of a whore is as follows:
'a woman who engages in promiscuous sexual intercourse, usually for money.'

Now, there are different variations of names for a so-called 'whore' such as call girl, escort, strumpet, harlot, prostitute, lady of the night. Really, the list can go on and on. But what this definition doesn't state is just how one becomes one. In Charlie's (and Jayden's) case, it was out of pure desperation and survival. She needed to find a way to live and stay alive in the real world.

 photo Relinquish1.jpg

 photo Relinquish2.jpg

You don't go into this 'profession' thinking that it's butterflies and unicorns, and that the person you're going to sleep with will sweep you off your feet, take care of you and paint everything rosy for you. You also don't go into this lifestyle fallling for one of them.

 photo PhotoGrid_1434232888901.jpg

 photo Relinquish4.jpg

 photo Relinquish5.jpg

Landon. He's a bit of an enigma at first. The broody and mysterious type. The one that you fall for just by being in his presence. He's polished and strong, but you see there is that animalistic spark in his eye, one that he tries to control but loses it when he's around that one specific woman.

 photo Relinquish6.jpg

 photo Relinquish7.jpg

Charlie and Landon have a bit of a rough start to their 'relationship' but at the end of the day, these two souls were destined to be with each other. Their lives intertwined long before they even bumped into each other at the little cafe.

 photo Relinquish8.jpg

And speaking of two souls, I'm wondering about Jayden and Roman, Landon's brother. Is there something there? Will those two crazy kids have a future together as well?

I guess we shall see...

I'm starting out by saying I absolutely love M.N. Forgy's writing. I reviewed one of her books in her Devil's Dust series, so I was very excited to get the opportunity to review Relinquish. It's different from anything she's written and I couldn't be happier for her.

Charlie is a runaway. She has no family and very few friends. She decides when she turns eighteen that it's time to leave her foster house and make a new life for herself. After all of her savings are stolen, she's left with virtually nothing to her name and no job prospects.

Charlie finds herself in a bad way when Landon comes to her rescue. He's like no one she's ever met before. She's overcome with feeling and emotion in his presence and she doesn't know how to cope with these feelings.

It's no secret that Charlie turns to prostitution to keep a roof over her head and food in her refrigerator. Even then, she almost can't make rent and feed herself.

Landon is drawn to Charlie for reasons unknown to him. They have a connection and bond that he can't break even though being with her is completely against the rules of Blackwell Estate.

Once Charlie meets Landon's father, all of her secrets are revealed. Secrets she didn't know she had until he and Landon came into the picture since she was orphaned at age nine.

Landon and Charlie's love is fast and HOT! M.N. Forgy doesn't skimp on the steamy scenes and I love her for that. I really enjoyed the ending of Relinquish just as much as I enjoyed the entire story. Charlie is looking for a future while trying to remember he past and Landon is looking to forget his past and create a future for himself outside of his fathers shadow.

Well, a hot and very interesting story. It could have gained more stars if the heroine was written differently. After her first horrible experiences I expected to see a change in Charlie, but she never learned from her mistakes...she remained naive...fortunately Landon's love for her was her salvation.

I liked how Landon's character was developed. Despite what was revealed by the end in that bomb twist...he really was a fascinating character.

This was a nice fast read.

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me. I loved the synopsis and the first 10% or so was really good. It went a little down hill from there and I think that's mainly due to the heroine. I just could not connect with her at all and absolutely did not get the decisions she was making. She just seemed to make bad choice after bad choice and to be honest, she ended up grating on my every nerve. Despite her age, her actions seemed unrealistic and unbelievable which made the story exactly the same. i'm so sorry but this just wasn't for me but I do know others have really enjoyed it.

3.5 stars and here's why... I felt like the ending was a bit rushed. Our couple, Landon and Charlie, have been through some stuff to end up together and at the end, all of a sudden, they're together and all is ok. I would have liked to see how Landon dealt with

I do have to give major props to M.N. Forgy though. She wrote a fantastic book that pushed my comfort zone at the beginning. I kept texting Amanda to ask if I'd be ok reading it since we read it together and she was ahead of me lol I'll gladly read more by thus author!

4 Stars SPOILERS AHEAD BE WARNED

OK, let me start off by saying that this is not a book for my safety gang readers. Normally, I may not have even delved into a book like this either but I just felt like being a rebel today, lol. I have my hard limits BUT on occasion, I do test them and veer off of my "usual" reading path. I am so conflicted on this book so let me try and clarify without giving much away either!

I LOVED both Charlie and Jayden. These 2 girls, quickly becoming "women" were the highlight of this book for me. Their backstory was crushing, they came from nothing only to runaway to "nothing" and my heart ached like hell for the both of them. The writing was great because for me I literally read this story with my stomach in knots for both of these girls, especially Charlie. At times, my heart truly "hurt" for her especially when she would have a dash of hope only for it to be gone in a millisecond! Chasen, arghhhhhh, what a DOUCHE of epic proportions. OMG, what he did to her CRUSHED my heart partially only for it to be obliterated by Landon later on!

My issues were not even with Charlie and surprisingly, she was the one who drew my hard limits throughout and yet, I so got her, I totally was invested with her, I so understood why she just had to keep the train moving. She did NOT have a choice, so red flags and all, I was in and loved this girl fiercely and protectively! If I were there, I wouldn't hesitate to knock out anyone who so much as harmed a hair on her head, lolol. That is, Jayden and I would be her bodyguards for sure! Charlie and Jayden were "soul" sisters, I loved their relationship to pieces.

My issues were with Landon. I loved him, hated him, and then LOVED him but yet I still couldn't let go of my resentment towards him. I felt like if he weren't getting revenge on Mick that he never would have found Charlie again. THAT was my issue for sure! He didn't go after her, oh no, he happened upon her and then all of a sudden he becomes the alpha male....I was so confused and conflicted with him and his role....I was conflicted and disappointed in how the author executed that part of the storyline along with his character. I loved them both together, no doubt, I just really wished he had gone after her like she deserved. If he wasn't after Mick...hell he wouldn't have found her and THAT was what bothered me until then end, heck even now as I write this! Yes, he somewhat redeemed himself BUT I couldn't quite move past that major issue in my way.

NOW, I truly HOPE and PRAY for a story on Jayden and hmmmm my guess on the next H....Roman?????? Oh please, I hope so, lol!!!! I love that the author left the ending of this book open to both of these characters, the question is will it be "their" story, lol!!!! I ALSO want MORE of Landon and Charlie, too:) I absolutely am in love with this couple together and I want to see Charlie get everything and more that she deserves!!!!!!!!!! Landon still has some groveling to do for sure ESP with the twist, which by the way, wasn't what I would have liked to see. Wished it had been Miller responsible for Charlie's heartache, heheheh, not saying what but will leave you with that!

M.N. Forgy introduces you to the world of pimps, escorts, and prostitution. But one thing that must be made clear is that this book... this story is so much more than that.

Charlotte 'Charlie' Evans hasn't had it easy since she's been 9. Plagued by the nightmares of a past she can't remember and growing up in the foster system life hasn't been easy. Finally, at 18 she catches her first break and leaves the foster home behind with her foster sister and best friend, Jayden. But of course life is a bitch to put it lightly, when her money gets stolen while heading to Vegas. Luckily for them, they find a beat down place but job hunting isn't working out as they imagined it would. A chance encounter helps Charlie take care of herself and Jayden, until she realizes that not all people do things because they care about you and their true colors are shown.

Charlie and Jayden are once again back to square one. With a battered heart, Charlie along with Jayden join the world of prostitution to make ends meet. But what Charlie doesn't realize is that faithful day bumping into Landon Blackwell would change her life forever as their destinies intertwine.

Landon Blackwell is this enigma. An alpha male to the T. A complete mystery and a man who also lives and hides the darkness of his past. He's someone who doesn't know how to control his emotions, especially when it comes to Charlie. One moment he's this sweet and caring guy and the next he's this complete douche bag who you want to kick in the balls. Ughh, it's so frustrating because it's hard to hate this man meh...

Charlie and Landon together are a ticking time bomb that once detonated, be prepared to feel the force. Life works in mysterious ways and soon they learn that what they feel for one another goes beyond a simple encounter. They can fight it all they want but that doesn't mean anything. Of course once again life plays a cruel joke and shit gets real people!

This book will have your heart racing. You'll be on the edge of your seat, afraid to read ahead because you don't want to imagine what will happen, but at the same time you must know before it kills you. I couldn't be more proud of M.N. Forgy for venturing into this whole new direction from her MC books. I love her boys, Shadow and Bobby, but now I can love Landon and Roman just the same.

PS: I need Roman's book!!!!

This story is like no other. The synopsis ma not give much away, but that is a good thing. It shouldn't. It should entice you, which it does. At least it did me. However, I loved all of author's previous books, so for me to read it was a no brainer.

I can't really give you too much of the story itself. This is one of those books where if I say the wrong thing, I have spoiled some of the book. And I am no spoiler.

These characters are spot on. One couldn't have written these characters any better. They are perfectly described and depicted. I felt empathy and anomisity and anger and sadness where it was appropriate. There is no getting around the beautiful writing and story-telling in this story.

This isn't one of those instant attraction books where the characters fall in step with one another instantly. It's slow. It's painful. It works and is at the speed the characters allow. Are they attracted to one another isntantly? Absolutely. Does their attraction take off there? Nope. You wait. You wait salivating, wanting to know if and when it will take off. How it will take off.

Overall, this is one great story. I couldn't have been happier with this book. It is unique and unlike anything else I have read.

Wow! Where do I start?!
This book takes the reader that on one hell of a journey.

We meet Charlie. She's had a tough life, but she's survived - almost - by blocking a lot of her childhood out.
Just when she thinks she's able to be free at last, in jumps Jayden. They barely know each other but Charlie's kind heart wants to help, so the girls decide to stick together.

But sticking together is one thing, surviving together is a whole different ball game.

Of course, a man is always involved and this time, the man is hotter than hot! Charlie literally runs into Landon, who evokes feelings in her that she just can't comprehend. He makes her feel safe and not lonely for the first time in her life....but is he all he seems?

This is an absolutely thrilling book! It's got just about everything you could ask for...emotion, a touch of darkness, the dirty game, lies, deception and an endless struggle.

It's beautifully written and I absolutely devoured it! A highly recommended 5 stars from me.... Enjoy!
