Devin Simms has never forgiven the woman who walked out on him, but when he sees her again, he realizes the passion between them still burns--and even hotter than before. As they spend an unexpected two weeks together beneath the Caribbean sun he knows he wants more. Can he learn to forgive and reclaim the only woman who's claimed his heart?
Floral shop co-owner Vivian Michaels believes she has finally put her past to rest. But when a wedding in Jamaica brings her face-to-face with the man she loved and had to leave behind, she realizes that she never stopped loving Devin. Every kiss reminds her of what she's missed, and perhaps what she can still have if she would only trust him with the truth.
**This is a novella, work of approximately 37k words**
Sheryl Lister has enjoyed reading and writing for as long as she can remember. She writes contemporary and inspirational romance and romantic suspense. She been nominated for an Emma Award and RT Reviewer’s Choice Award and named BRAB’s 2015 Best New Author. When she’s not reading, writing or playing chauffeur, Sheryl can be found on a date with her husband or in the kitchen creating appetizers and bite-sized desserts.
Vivian Michaels visits Jamaica and can't avoid her ex, who's a member of the wedding party, where she's a provider/guest. She tries to avoid Devin, because of their aborted relationship, but he has other plans. As far as he's concerned, Vivian isn't getting away without telling him why she broke things off without an explanation.
I liked both characters and the great chemistry they shared. The story is exactly what happens when people assume how someone else will react when there's critical information that should be shared. There were other background issues that added meat to the story and the setting is an added bonus.
This is my first read from Sheryl Lister and I know it won't be my last.
Once I've started the book I didn't stop until I finished. Really enjoyed reading about Devin and Vivian, they had chemistry that burned the pages up. Devin was serious about getting to the root of the problem, miss Vivian didn't stand a chance. I love the setting of the story really had me feeling like I was there with them. It was great getting caught up with some of the characters from previous books. This story had some of everything secret, lies and deceit that will keep you up and reading. I do hope to see more stories from this book. Like Dawn. Great continuation of the series.
This book is moving and encouraging. Two characters, "Vivian and Devin were destined to be together. Vivian is a self-made woman that has a double portion of integrity. The minor characters play a pivotal role in their ultimate HEA!
I enjoy this author's writing and I hate when the story ends. She inserts anger management and theft as well as envy, trust and friendship creatively into the book theme. Will be reading more!
Wow, such a inspirational sweet love story! I felt so much pain for Vivian Michaels, and her dilemma, to tell the truth to her true love Devin...that her brother was the person, who robbed his house two years ago....and she was forced to break up with him; because he wanted to tell the police she was involved....(I was touch that they were eventually able to communicate with each other and got a second chance at Love)....she was definitely a strong and powerful woman....highly recommend....
Is there anything that can keep you from the one you love? Can time mend a broken heart? Is there ever a time where love conquers all? Well those are some of the questions that set the stage for Vivian and Devon. After two years, the desire is still their. After a chance reconnection in Jamaica it was all she wrote. Of course not without the drama and suspense elements. Sheryl did something with this short that is commendable. She didn't make you feel like you were cheated. All the necessary elements were in, with the supporting cast of Mariah, who is the epitome of a ride or die friend. To Tony who was the voice of reason. You just cannot help but smile.
I've been saying time and time again after reading blurbs from Sheryl Lister that reading one of her stories soon was a must. Well, I finally got around to reading one, " Made to Love You", and I must admit that I'm thoroughly impressed with the author's skill as a writer. I can't wait to read more of her work. Character chemistry was on point making thus a very smooth read. I read this story in one day, and enjoyed every word. As I mentioned in my title for thus review, Devin and Vivian's story was "Absolutely Beautiful". I would love to read more about them and their friends in the future. T
I loved this book about Devin and Vivian. They first appeared in "Just to be with You". Devin is Janae's Brother and he has gone to the Caribbean for his friend's wedding. They had a great relationship that was good until an incident happened and she dropped him. Her and her bestie with a tagalong friend also are there for the same wedding. Devin wants her back, she is still running. The sparks are hot and heavy, betrayal swirls about. Will Devin get her back or will the lies continue?
Great read..Thanks Ms. Lister, you are a great storyteller..
I enjoyed this book as a continuation of the Janae and Monti story. As a reader I look for character and plot development and I felt that Vivian and Devin were well developed, some of the other characters were not. I would love to see how Devin "handles" her brother and how all the friends continue to grow.
After breaking up without explanation two years ago, Devin and Vivian wind up in Jamaica together at the same wedding. He wants answers that she's afraid to give. They're still in love and desire to be together but will the secret she's holding inside keep them apart? Made to love you is short and entertaining. It's about love and forgiveness.
This was a pretty good book overall but I felt like it was rushed to the climax & the ending was pretty predictable. But I would still check out more books from this author.
Fast paced easy to read . Vivian and Devin's biggest problem was not trusting as hard as they loved. They went to celebrate the start of a new life of friends and found a way of their own.
I love the wedding destination situation in here! Vivian and Devin's second chance romance was a ride and even though I find myself frustrated at some scenes because of the deliberate miscommunication, I appreciate the journey and learning both of them had in terms of trust and opening up to each other. The only thing I hated in this is Rushed endings aren't really my thing, especially in second chance romance where there's a lot of things that needed to be settled, unlearned, and rediscover before committing to the relationship long term.
Overall, the buildup is good and the journey is appreciated, but that ending is not it. Would still read more from the author, though.
I really enjoyed this but not sure if it can effectively be read as a standalone (how I read it). I don’t think you necessarily need to know anything about the characters or these two especially. When they reconnect it’s immediate likely because they’re so familiar with each other but it feels rushed and not nearly as rushed as the ending! I still enjoyed them both and will be looking for more from this author (loved the writing). Wonder if there’s anything about Dawn or if we just write her off as a shitty friend.
This was a love story about Vivian Michaels and Devin Simms. They met on an airplane after being separated for over two years. Unknowingly they were headed to the same wedding. He was best man and she and her partner were the florists. During the two weeks they were in Jamaica they realized they were still in love with each other. After several discussions they found their happily ever after.
And full of surprises it was kind of predictable in a sense but still a very heart warming love story. Even with the similar family “problems” I was hooked and glad things turned out as they did. Dawn put me in mind of someone who is no longer my friend for this same reason! Made me once again believe in second chances and that it’s never too late to begin again
I enjoyed Made to Love You by Sheryl Lister. This book touched my heart because the couple got their second chance at love. I enjoyed this storyline so much. I also enjoyed the chemistry between Vivian and Devin. I am loving Sheryl Lister’s books.
Great book. Very good and short read but nonetheless kept me intrigued and wanting more as I read. I will continue to read more books by the author because this book was so good.
This is my first story by author Sheryl Lister and it most definitely will not be my last.
I just love, love, love a good romance story. Devin Simms a rising architect met the woman of his dreams and for eight wonderful months, he just knew he was going to marry her and then one day, she abruptly ends the relationship and hasn't seen her in almost two years. But as fate would have it, when something is meant to be it will be.
Vivian Michaels Floral shop co-owner, met the man of her dreams, she was in love with a man who was every thing to her. Her personal life for the first time was full of happiness and joy, no more pain and heartache would she endure. But then the unthinkable happens, her past comes back full circle and she does the only thing she believes to do, to protect the man she loves by ending it.
Two years later Devin and Vivian are headed to Jamaica, for Devin it is to be the best man in his friend's wedding and for Vivian, it is to help out with some floral design and the business aspect while her best friend and co-owner Mariah does the full floral designs for the wedding. Two years of grief, pain and loneliness have plagued these them both, can this trip be the start to a road of reconciliation or will it end in further misery?
Vivian has decided that she needed to tell Devin the truth as to why she ended their relationship? Devin wants answers and a second chance but after hearing the truth will these two be able to get past it or will it just completed obliterate any chances of a happily ever after.
I thoroughly enjoyed Devin and Vivian's story and was rooting for them the whole time. Even though at first Vivian kind of got on my nerves but I understood why she was acting like that. I have definitely added the rest of the author's books to my TBR list and I am so happy to see that she entwines her stories which I absolutely love, so this author has gained a new reader Woot! Woot!
I read an excerpt from this book on Facebook before it was published and immediately had to pre-order it. Yes, the excerpt was that good.
“Made to Love You” is a love story about Devin Simms, an architect, and Vivian Michaels, co-owner of a floral shop. They were in a relationship back in the day, with promises of forever. But, a dark family secret caused Vivian to suddenly end their relationship. Of course, Devin never saw this coming and worse, Vivian ended the relationship with no explanation.
I loved the chemistry between Devin and Vivian. Perhaps, on the sunny island paradise of Jamaica, Devin and Vivian will find their way back to each other! Read and find out!
This is my first read from Sheryl Lister and it certainly won't be my last. Good job!
Sheryl Lister has done it again. Was not expecting a book so soon about Janea's brother Devin. Loved the chemistry from the beginning to end between Devin Simms and Vivian Michaels.
With a friend like Dawn who needs enemies. Glad to know that Devin and Vivian with all of the drama that was going on that they were able to work out their differences and Vivian found out from Devin that her families problems were not hers.
A must read. If you all have not read Sheryl's first two books "Just To Be With You" Janea Simms and Terrance (Monty) Campbell, "All Of Me" Karen Morris and Damien Bradshaw". Please do so you will enjoy them.
Made to Love You was a great Novella. It's always nice to catch up with characters from the pass. With a love like Devin & Vivian's its hard stifle. Keeping secrets are never good but at times those secrets can strengthen a love once reveal. It's nice to know that love conquers all. I am looking forward to Sheryl's next book. This is definitely a series worth reading.
Ms Lister gave us a powerful story about keeping family secrets, drama , redemption, and love. Devin and Vivian chemistry was really strong and their love was not to broken. the secondary characters Tony gave good advice and Mariah was a good home girl. Dawn stir up emotions that would cause a beat down. I read this novel and did not stop until finish . I recommend this novel it will have you cheering ,laughing and crying for a happy ending.
Sweet, sassy and sizzling! Absolutely loved it! Devin is a natural born protector. He proved this as Janae's big brother in JUST TO BE WITH YOU. This is why he is so hurt and so angry that Vivian did not confide in him that her creepy, crooked brother was blackmailing her. Now 2 years later they find themselves, face to face at Tony and Samantha's destination wedding. Maybe in romantic Jamaica, Devin and Vivian can forgive and forget and somehow find their way back to each other!
