You probably already know what you're supposed to do. So why isn't "knowing" enough to change your behaviors?
You know you should set the boundary, stop replaying the conversation, let go of comparisons, and move on. But then something familiar happens and suddenly knowing better doesn't seem to help.
You bought the planner. Lit the candle. Set the boundary. You even tried entering your soft era. Yet somehow, making everything around you softer hasn't made what's happening inside you any easier.
It's About Time. introduces Emotional Time Travel and Capacity Architecture, frameworks developed by Indira Merritt and grounded in evidence-based research to explain how the past gets referenced in the present, often without us realizing it.
Because sometimes the problem isn't what you know, it's that the version of you who didn't know better already practiced a pattern that you accepted for your personality. Capacity Architecture is designed and practiced. It provides the necessary interruption in the moment to do better.
Through these original frameworks, you'll learn to recognize what's being referenced, understand the response it creates, and build more capacity for what happens next. It's About Time. includes a Capacity Design Studio to guide your architectural process and to put the work into practice in your own life.
The self-help shelf has enough advice. This time, do something different. Become a Capacity Investor in your own life and start building the capacity that knowing better couldn't build for you.
Today is Thursday, October 15, 2026, and I am currently reading this book. It’s not a book you read through quickly, rate it, then move onto the next one, and I don’t want to wait to share my thoughts. (Good chance I’ll update this review once I’ve finished).
It’s About Time is making me pause and reflect, often taking the time to record my thoughts about things I’m reading and answering the questions throughout the book. It’s slowing down my reading progress, but the lessons, exercises, and takeaways are incredibly meaningful and have been helping me process and get through a difficult season in my life.
Even if you think “oh, I don’t need this,” it might surprise you how much you’ll begin to learn and grow, and maybe even develop greater compassion for others who are struggling.
This is an important book that everyone really should take the time to read.
