Charlotte believes love only exists in fairy tales, but agrees to attend a New Year's Eve party as a favor to a friend. A coin toss saddles her with a snobbish, immaculate vampire with a big ego, one who makes her grind her teeth. Yet, she can't pass up the golden opportunity to pester him with silly questions.
Ethan can't believe he's set up with a human female, one with horrendous taste in interior decorating and a quirky inquisitiveness that pricks at his final nerve. Unfortunately, the cards are stacked against him from the moment they meet. Danger and disaster bring them together, forcing them to lean on one another for survival.
Can they move past their vast species differences and find true love?
2 1/2 stars Char's friend set up a blind date for Char and Ethan on New Years Eve, though Char is reluctant to go she finally decides to attend. What she meets is Ethan a hot vampire who only wants to be with a pure bread vampire, and who believes humans are beneath him. When sunrise is close Ethan finds himself in a predicament, his car has broken down and all of the taxi's are busy so with no other option he agrees to let Char give him a ride to her house where he will stay till the evening. Because of Char's help Ethan asks her on another date and though Ethan had preconceived ideas about his life and who he would end up with he soon finds himself drawn to Char. As their relationship grows, one of the oldest vampires is out to get revenge on Ethan and will use Char and anyone else in his way. So where to start Ethan at the beginning of this book was a jerk, he was full of himself and stuck up, as his relationship with Char grows he becomes caring and loves Char but I had a hard time believing both Char and Ethan. Though the book was telling me they cared about each other I just didn't believe it till the end, I also felt like there was a complete change one minute he hated her the next he loved her. It just wasn't believable. My other thought through this whole book was that Char was obsessed with her bunny, I have pets I love them but man can we move past the pet. The bunny became the third character in this book and it was just strange. So overall ehh it was ok, this book had a lot of potential but fell flat.
3 1/2 - 4 stars. Really liked the characters. Was a bit short, and some transitions were a little off (in the sunroom one moment then opening the fridge the next moment), but the characters are catchy and funny, plus the title peaked my interest of some good humor.
Charlotte, Ginger, and Timber all work together at the Peace Protection Division. Ginger sets the other 2 up on blinds dates for the company New Year Eve party, and lets them flip a coin to see who their date will be. This book is about Charlotte & Ethan. Ethan is the stuffy, uptight, elitist vampire brother of Ginger's boyfriend (Deacon). Charlotte is sweet, witty, & often overlooked. Char & Ethan meet at the party and quickly the witty banter starts. She peppers him with questions and he bluntly tells her that they're not going to go any farther in a relationship then the party. She heads to the buffet, and he heads to talk business with someone else. For whatever reason she stays around the party and helps him out when the sun is close to rising. From there the laughs ramp up, and slowly they fall for each other. When things are really going well, Wham, the bad guy shows up to cause problems.
Cute ending, but the bad guy showdown is very short, but the humor throughout the book is in the showdown as well.
Look forward to the next book, and would love to read more about Char & Ethan.
Char is set up on a New Year’s Eve date by her friend Ginger. With the flip of a coin she gets sexy purebred Vampire Ethan. Ethan isn’t any happier about the date than Char is, he has no plans of hooking up with a human since he wants to keep his bloodlines pure, so a date is a waste of time. Oh my gosh I laughed till I thought I’d bust a gut on this one. It was so cute and funny I loved Chars strength and how she didn’t ‘t want to depend on anyone for anything and her silly questions for the vampire were just so outrageous it was fun! I loved how Ethan l slowly warmed to her found her intriguing and not just jumped in the sack with her. This was such an interesting take on a vampire story and a romance. I did have a little bit of issue with the actual rogue vampire thing him being so old, I found the short fight disappointing but with the fun relationship and other issues going on it really wasn’t needed anyways, though way to go Char! Recommendations: If you like a different, more lighthearted, almost comical take on vampires and romance this one is for you. I highly recommend it.
I happened to be browsing for books when I came across this one. I absolutely loved this book it's one of my favourite vamp stories ever, actually just one of my favourite books full stop! I'm so looking forward to book 2!
