This book is somewhat interesting in that the writer is from India and it seems to be published abroad (I'm American). It contains mental math tricks and rules of thumb to accomplish feats of mental arithmetic. It also contains algorithms for finding perfect cube roots, finding perfect square roots, multiplying large numbers together and other impressive things. Apparently this man runs seminars where he shows off mental arithmetic to get people excited about his talks. Pretty neat I must say...

This book is set up so that you are meant to follow along, but I didn't participate in the exercises. It goes in depth in how to calculate some things and gives plenty of worked examples. I merely wanted a passing knowledge of the techniques in here, and that was readily obtained. Since I am used to the method I learned in school, it was difficult to follow what he was doing to those numbers most of the time, but he goes step by step to explain his work initially, and then goes and does examples.

I will read it again, or supplement it with some more examples of Vedic Mathematics.

just skimmed it before reading it full. but i realised it's not for me. I wanted speed mental math calculation. Or atleast expected tricks to solve all basic addition to division in written form. even that's not available. for certain things only, tricks are given - like multiply by certain numbers trick is there not any numbers 🤦🤷. It's not useful to me and if I read this book completely, i might forgot my normal calculation methods 😰😮‍💨.

Is an amazing book. All the methods are described really well and there's an exercise after every chapter to assess yourself if you understood the concept. It contains more methods than mentioned in his book on Exams. If you want to ace your mathematics or a competitive exam then its a must read. Also learning mental maths isgood even if you don't study maths at all.

It is commonly observed that students nowadays develop hatred towards the interesting subject of mathematics. Dhaval Bathia's book aims to completely eliminate this feeling from the student's mind, and instead to foster ingenuity and appreciation towards the subject. Vedic Mathematics is the term used to denote the sixteen principles of mathematics claimed to be derived from the Vedas, and discovered by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Bharatikrishna Tirtha, an Indian monk.

This book is a simplification of these sixteen principles, written in an eloquent manner in order to reach out to every student in India and the rest of the world. The book is divided into three categories based on the difficulty level of the chapters . The fun element is that the main book is preceded by four magic tricks, which are simple yet astonishing. Also provided are exercises and solved examples for each chapter, that facilitate proper understanding.

The methods of Vedic Mathematics described in this book are incredibly simple to solve, and substantially less arduous than the conventional method used in schools. For instance, reading this book will enable you to calculate the square-roots and cube-roots of big numbers within seconds, or let you solve multiplications of multiple-digit numbers in a single line! If you're a student of middle school intimidated by mathematics, this is the ideal book for you.

Parlor tricks and rules of thumb. Some have narrow application, and a few are more universal.

I did learn that digital roots, or "digit-sums" as Bathia calls them have "immense utility for practitioners of Numerology and other occult sciences."

Yes. he called them "sciences". Almost got one star for that.
