From the author of My Highland Bride, comes a sensual novel featuring a wolf-shifting chieftain who travels centuries to modern-day Scotland to tame his one and only.
Cursed to live forever with neither wife nor child, Ronan Sutherland has watched all he cherishes turn to dust—more than once. For hundreds of years, he’s been trapped behind the mists of Loch Ness, hoping to identify the one woman who is prophesied to break the spell. Now, at last, the fates have aligned, and he’s being sent into the future to fetch her. After a single glimpse, Ronan knows he’s been waiting all his life for this passionate woman.
Unlike her time-traveling sisters, Mairi Sinclair is perfectly content to remain in the present. As a hospital nurse in Edinburgh, she cherishes the opportunity to put her gift of healing powers to good use. But everything changes the morning a mysterious wolf darts in front of her car. Touching the wounded creature’s tawny coat, a tingle surges through her. Yet when she returns with aid, Mairi is shocked to find instead a man with broad shoulders and fire in his eyes—a man who tempts her to unleash the animal within.

Her mantra is this: No one has the power to shatter your dreams unless you give it to them.
She and her husband of over forty-five years traveled around the world while in the U.S. Air Force. Now they're settled in rural Kentucky where Maeve writes about her courageous heroes and the fearless women who tame them. Sometimes her stories are historical romances, time travel romances, or escapist romantasies, but the one thing they always have in common is a satisfying happily ever after. When she’s not plotting the perfect snare, she can be found herding cats, grandchildren, and her husband—not necessarily in that order.
3.5 stars. Ronan Sutherland and his family have been under a curse to be shapeshifter (wolf) and this curse can only lifted by true love. Ronan sought the help from an old sage Granny Sinclair who prophesied that her granddaughter would be the one to break Ronan’s curse. The Sinclairs were gifted with the power to time travel amongst other powers. The only problem is that Mari Sinclair, the granddaughter, time travelled to the future and refuses to return to 13th century Scotland. Thus Ronan had to time travel to 21st century Edinburgh to bring his fated mate Mairi back to 13th century.
Meanwhile, Mairi was content living a life untethered of her grandmother’s expectations and had no intention of returning despite being summoned repeatedly. While she has difficulty maintaining employment, she does use her healing gifts to aid people. Mairi and her sisters have made a life in the “future” but it didn’t include love yet. On her way to work, Mairi accidentally hits a wolf with her car, so she brings him home to heal him. Thus begins her unwitting introduction to her future love.
I struggled with both characters. At first, Mairi seemed flighty, then after she learned the “dog” she rescued was really a wolf shifter, aka a man, she turned into a harpy. I do understand that Ronan made it difficult to trust him since he chose time and time again to be less than truthful with Mairi. Ronan was a warrior and he was used to people doing what he said without being questioned. Plus, he was afraid that Mairi wouldn’t believe and he would lose his one chance to break this curse that has plagued him for 300 years. It is understandable why Ronan wouldn’t put all his cards on the table. But Mairi made it hard to like her. Mairi and Ronan made a good couple despite the back and forth. They had good chemistry and it was their inner fortitude that made them work well as a couple.
I did find the writing amusing enough that I chuckled sometimes. The characters were quirky, especially the Sinclair women. I enjoyed the plot and the writing more than the main characters. The most entertaining is having 13th century warriors having to deal with independent 20th century heroines. How fun was that! I wish I had started this series in order so I will go back and read book 1.
Special Thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept via Netgalley for the book given in exchange for an honest review.
This was a romantic, story. It was full of true love, but a man so scared to loose his love, he almost does. Due to the fact he has lied to her so much, albeit not because he wants to lie, but he is scared of losing her if she knows his truth.
I enjoy the Scottish accent a lot. I could just imagine these huge, sexy Scottish men speaking in these deep voices, with that borough... yummy.
The Author did a good job telling this story, keeping it interesting, and intriguing. The details were good, and it was quite enjoyable. For a shifter book I was expecting more in the way of shifting, and a story with more shifters, more paranormal to it I guess. That is where the 4 stars comes in.
This was also so funny when he travels to the future, I laughed hysterically a few times. This was an all around good book to read. I wish I had read the first books before this one in the series. I hope that didn't effect anything haven read this book first, since I don't know what happened in the other books.
I enjoyed Granny, and Eliza's characters a lot, for older women they were full of piss, and vinegar. Elisa has quite a career, and does very well for herself. Funny she is the girls guardian, not that she does a bad job, she is a wonderful guardian, and a loving busy body.
I think it was sad at the end what happens with Ronan's mother. Mairi is a strong woman, and was so intent to not fall in love. This was a HEA. There was some swearing, not much the F word is said, and it had sex, but again not to sexual, and not continual. I think in my opinion 16 and up for reading this book.
Another out-of-the-park-er for Ms. Greyson!! I adored the first two books, and this one didn't let me down with the vivid pictures the author's words created in my mind. Perfect setting, all the senses fulfilled, and an HEA...what's not to love? Fleshed out characters that complement each other (even when they don't know it yet) and laughter enough to keep the story light-hearted, this book is a must read!
For hundreds of years, Ronan Sutherland has been trapped behind the mists and only one woman has been prophesied to break the curse, and when his chance finally arrives he finds that he must travel to the future to fetch her in this captivating romance.
Mairi Sincliar is perfectly content to remain in the present putting her gift of healing to good use and the reader can’t help but be captivated when a mysterious wolf darts in front of Mairi’s car and changes everything. There’s no denying the pull of attraction that sizzles between Mairi and Ronan but it will take more than a trip through time to for this relationship to reach its desired outcome as pressures, secrets and lots of emotional turmoil causes confusion and hurt feelings along the way and these strong compelling characters have no trouble ensnaring readers in their turbulent romance in this steady paced and smooth flowing plot full of suspense, excitement, romance and magic.
Ronan and Mairi’s relationship provides plenty of angst filled tension and expectation throughout the story with additional anticipation and excitement building as time to lift the curse runs out which of course the evil that brought about the curse to begin with is doing its best to prevent them from achieving that happily ever after. The scenes are well written and full of vivid details that capture the imagination and brings the story to life making it easy to become engrossed in the story as the intriguing events holds the readers in their spell.
I have not read the previous books in this series, but this story can be read all on its own with no problem of course the author snagged my attention with the characters of the previous books so I will be remedying that because I was completely captivated by Mairi and Ronan’s story and I am highly anticipating reading Graham’s story when it becomes available…hopefully soon?
My Tempting Highlander is book three in the Highland Hearts series by Maeve Greyson. We are treated to a curse, shifters, witches, time travel, heartache, love and meddling family members!
I had a little trouble at times reading My Tempting Highlander. Historical Romances are not my normal genre nor are Time Travel, add in that this was the thrid book in the series, and that I had not read any of the previous books. I ended up on an up-and-down ride of trying to piece things together and understand the world created.
The world was appealing enough. The more I read the more I got curious about the first two sisters and their stories. Also by the end I was left a little curious about the fourth and final sisters too.
I do have to point out that I was a little confused at the very beginning, when they talk about Mairi Sinclair being the one. I started to think, at that point, that I might have missed some important events revealed in a previous book.
As for our leads they where mediocre. Not overly inviting as characters and nothing really amazing or memorable stood out about them. Mairi was raised in the future even though she is from the past, so she is a sassy modern day women. Ronan is a highland warrior cursed. He needs to find the one who can break the curse and send the evil back into the pits of hell. I got frustrated with our hero and heroine, Ronan and Mairi, for different things. Ronan tells half truths instead of trusting Mairi. Mairi did a lot of whining, which got on my nerves.
As for the big bad. It wasn't all that bad. I felt the main focus to this story was our hero omitting the things he should've told his women.
Can you read this book with out reading the others? Yes, but you might get more enjoyment if you read in order.
My Tempting Highlander was a nice quirky fun historical time travel romance. If you enjoy historical romances with a family of meddling time traveling witches and sexy highland warriors, then you might enjoy reading My Tempting Highlander.

*** received a copy via NetGally for an honest review. Maeve Greyson has written another splendid time travel romance titled 'My Tempting Highlander'. The humor was spot on. The forward and backward in time was a switch in the story pace. The Fates are giving the Sinclair women a chance to balance the time travel slips that the women of the family over time have made. The only thing is that Mairi, the oldest of the twins, is the one who must set things right by marrying an immortal Highland Chieftain, Ronan Sutherland, who appeared in a previous story. Her marriage, love and healing touch to Ronan would together break the curse, set on his mother that changed her to a wolf, his best friend into a dragon and himself into a wolf shifter, and would expel an ancient evil that wants to return for vengeance. I so enjoy this story and cannot wait for the next story about the Sinclair women.
This was a nice time travel story. Our hero, Ronan, travels to modern time to get his fated bride, Mairi, to come back to 13th century Scotland to marry him and lift a curse. Mairi has a temper and a bit of a potty mouth - I loved it! Ronan had a problem with telling half truths. And that was my problem with the story. She gave him multiple chances to come clean and he kept denying that there was any thing else to admit.
My Tempting Highlander Highland Hearts #3 Maeve Greyson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ronan Sutherland is cursed. He's cursed to live forever with neither a wife nor child. He has watched everyone he has ever cherished turn to dust more than once. He's been trapped behind the mists of Loch Ness for hundreds of years, hoping he can find the one woman who is prophesied to break the spell. Finally, the fates have aligned. He knows this is the real deal, so he goes forward in time to fetch his only hope. After a single glimpse, Ronan knows that this is the woman that he has been waiting for. This is the only woman who can break the curse.
Mairi Sinclair is happy living in the present and doesn't want to go back in time. As a hospital nurse in Edinburgh, she loves the fact that she can put her gift of healing powers to good use. But everything changes the morning a mysterious wolf darts out in front of her car, and she hits it. Touching the wounded wolf's tawny coat, a tingle runs through her body. Shocked by the tingle, but not knowing what it could signify, Mairi is stopped in her tracks when she gets back from buying dog food only to find a man with broad shoulders who tempts her in so many different ways standing there, but no dog.
Maeve Grayson is absolutely fantastic. This book was awesome. It had me from the get-go. From the minute I started reading it and until long after I finished it, I kept thinking about it. The main characters were made for each other. It was also wonderful to visit with the whole family again as they all seem to be in every book. I love how Granny is such a matchmaker, and she always seems to be right. If you enjoy time travel books and the paranormal, you won't want to miss this perfect book.
Thank goodness Ronan was a better Hero than Colom. Don't think I could have read another idiotic playboy.
That being said, while I understood Ronan's motivations, he could have been honest with Mairi sooner. He'd already seen that she could handle it, and it got to a point where it seemed like he was just lying to lie.
I loved this story of Ronan and Mairi. I thought book 2 was good, this one is just as good or better. It had me laughing and tearing up. The characters just come to life. The worst part is knowing the next book is the last in the series, wish it could go on. You will love this book!
This book was gifted to me through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This review contains spoilers.
You know what I hate the most? The thing that so many romance novels seem to suffer from? Manufactured drama. I hate it, you guys. I hear some people already saying, Now, Bonnie. If there wasn't a bit of miscommunication going on, there wouldn't be a story, would there?"
You know what is even worse than manufactured drama? Manufactured drama in a book that doesn't even need manufactured drama. Let me clarify this:
In the story, our heroine Mairi is living in the modern day Edinburgh through the use of time travel. Unfortunately, she is part of a great plan to break the curse of one Chieftain Ronan Sutherland, his mother, and his best friend. They live in the 13th century and are a wolf-shifter, wolf, and dragon-shifter, respectively. So, of course, everyone has to conspire to trick Mairi into coming back to the 13th century, including her grandmother, aunt, sisters, and Ronan himself. Throughout the book, no one tells her the damn truth and they do it terribly. I would have serious trust issues if I was Mairi.
I don't understand this. She's constantly telling people that she knows they are lying. She's going to have to be told the truth eventually; so why all the lying? For conflict, of course!
Except this didn't need to happen at all. The moment she meets Ronan, Eliza could have just told her the truth. "Your destiny is in the past. You have to marry this horny Scottish werewolf asshole to break his and his family's curse and end this evil." Then let her deal with it. Ahh nice non-contrived drama!
Instead, we're stuck watching the most awkward courtship ever. You would think that a 300 year-old wolf-man would act more maturely, or at least have the patience to not start slobbering all over his intended 20 minutes after she meets him. He's constantly thinking with his dick and just being a dumdum in general. I understand he's from the past but he's not a fricken caveman! I don't know if being a wolf-shifter for so long makes him act like a dog or if that was intended by the author but I never liked Ronan. So many people told him he was fucking up by not being honest and Mairi told him countless times to tell her what was going on. He was disrespectful to her by not doing so and completely obtuse to the entire situation.
Mairi isn't the brightest bulb either. She finds Ronan in his wolf state, takes care of him for an afternoon, goes crazy when he mysteriously disappears, and then promptly forgets all about him. When Ronan buys her a puppy to create a diversion, she immediately abandons it to her sister. Are the characters 13? That was a hot mess.
As a side note, I'm disappointed that they didn't end up back in the future. I feel like Mairi sacrificed a lot to the relationship during this book. She deserved to be in the modern day, you know, with glass windows and indoor plumbing. Granny said at one point that Ronan belonged in the 13th century but that's not right. He belonged in 900AD and just happened to live a few hundred years before the events in the book took place. There was no real reason he had to be in the 1200s.
I added on a star because so many romance novels have the heroine be a virgin and it was refreshing that she wasn't and that Ronan didn't have any qualms about it and he didn't mind wearing condoms. These facts were never even discussed, which was surprising and appreciated.
My Tempting Highlander is book 3 in the Highland Heart Series by Maeve Greyson. I was so excited to get my hands on this book. The others in the series were fun, and I knew this one wouldn’t be any different. My Tempting Highlander is Ronan and Mairi’s story. If you have been following the series you will know that Ronan was in book 2, and played a pretty big role in that story. If you haven’t read book 2, I recommend you read that one first.
Ronan Sutherland has been cursed by a witch to live as half man, and beast for the rest of his life. The only thing that can break the curse is a woman possessing three qualities: lightness of step, a soothing touch, and a sight for the unseen. Not only his his life at stake but his mother, Maither, and his best friend, Graham. All three were also cursed by the same witch. Ronan is on a mission to find this woman, and Granny Sinclair has the perfect woman in mind, her grand daughter, Mairi. When granny says jump, most people ask ‘how high’.
Mairi Sinclair has been summoned by Granny Sinclair to jump back in time to the 13th century to follow her destiny. Mairi is not ready. She enjoys her life just the way it is, and doesn’t want to live in the past. She is a nurse, and feels her healing talents are put to better use in the here and now, and not in the past.
When Mairi meets Ronan for the first time, she doesn’t know who he is, or that he is from the 13th century. She is instantly drawn to him. She feels that he is a little strange, but is drawn to him all the same. Ronan tells Mairi only half truths when she ask him questions about his life, and why he is there. Although I understood his feelings for now telling her the truth, I still would have like to have smacked him a few times. I felt the truth would have been better. After all, Mairi comes from a family of time jumping women, so a man that can change into a wolf shouldn’t come as to big of a surprise.
The chemistry between Ronan and Mairi was HOT, and there are some pretty heavy scenes in this book. I enjoyed this book as much as the two before it. It was a fun, and easy read. About half of the book takes place in the present time, and I would’ve liked to have spent more time in the past with the characters. The plot moved along nicely, and I was not bore for one moment. All of the Sinclair women are feisty, stand up for themselves women. That is why I liked them so much. My Tempting Highlander can be read as a stand alone book, but I think it is more enjoyable when you know who is who, and what happened before.
I like the cover of this book, but I feel that it doesn’t match Ronan’s character, and the way he is described in the big. He is described as a big, tall man, and heavy muscled. While the man on the front has muscle, he is also lean looking to me. Covers of books are important to me, because I always see the characters while reading.
I recommend this book to anyone that likes time-travel, highlanders, and wolves, mixed with a little fantasy, and laugh out loud scenes. I can’t wait for the next in the series!
*I received a copy of this book from Netgalley on behalf of the publisher for an honest review.
The Highland Hearts series is a fun time travel romance/family saga revolving around the Sinclair family, four sisters and their quirky granny, who have the ability to jump time. This third installment, My Tempting Highlander is the story of Mairi, third sister, and her fated mate, Ronan Sutherland.
We first met Ronan in the last book, My Highland Bride, where he kidnapped Kenna Sinclair and forced her hand in marriage hoping to break a centuries old curse. Ronan was cursed before birth to take the form of a wolf and roam with immortality until he could find the one specific woman to free him, his mother and his mentor. Granny Sinclair revealed that Mairi is the chosen woman, and now Ronan must set about wooing her. I liked Ronan quite a bit. He was a broody mysterious tortured hero, and I knew he would be an interesting hero as soon as we met him in the last story. While he did not always tell Mairi the full trith, he was earnest in his affection for her. Fear of rejection kept him from revealing all, and I totally empathized with his plight.
Mairi Sinclair is the third sister in line, and twin to Lilia. Working as a nurse in 21st Century Edinburgh, she has no plans to travel to 13th Century Scotland to satisfy her granny's whim. So when Mairi does have to go back, she feels duped and betrayed by all and turns into an ornery, cantankerous, whiney, cynical shrew. I really didn't like her character for the majority of the book. She suffered from annoying heroine syndrome and I wanted to thump her a few times. This could be because I was in thrall to Ronan and I hated the way she treated him.
While this was not my favorite book of the series, I have had enjoyed all the time jumps and watching these highland warriors learn to deal with sassy modern women. If you are looking for fun, quick romances, give this series a shot.

Review:
Very interesting take, on a shifter; Ronan is a hot sexy highlander, who was cursed to live as a wolf and only the one who is prophesied can break the cures. Add in time warp and you have yourself a complete and compelling story. Since this copy is a pre copy, I can’t go into my normal stuff about grammatical errors. The flow is seamless, the plot complex; the development of the characters is perfect.
I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review through Wicked Reads. I enjoyed this book. I usually like reading about the highlands and time travel, so this one caught my eyes. It was what I expected, and more. Ronan Sutherland is a highland man living in the past and under a horrible curse that he has lived with his entire long life. He's followed leads to help break his curse in the past, but with no avail. Now, he has a new lead and he's really hoping she is the key this time. Mairi Sinclair is happily enjoying the modern conveniences of present time. She loves using her gift of healing to help others, and has no plan to travel back to the past any time soon. When Ronan drops into her life, things quickly get complicated for them both. I enjoyed reading this one. It was a quick, entertaining, and interesting read for me. I definitely enjoyed the few twists that the author added to make this story stand out.
Cursed by a vengeful witch, Ronan Sutherland lives a life of immortality and as a shifter, searching for woman who will break the curse. When he is summoned to Granny Sinclair, who believes she knows who the woman is, Ronan ends up time traveling to modern day Edinburgh.
Mairi Sinclair has been ignoring her Granny's attempt to get her to travel back to 13th Century Scotland. When she accidentally hurts a dog, or wolf, Mairi doesn't realize it is Ronan. Ronan is befuddled by the changes in modern times, he has one goal though to properly woo Mairi. Mairi has no clue what his true intentions is and misreads some of what Ronan is trying to do. Can they come together to break the curse or will Ronan be left with never finding the woman to break his curse?
This was a very fun twist to a highlander series. I thought Ronan shock of life in modern times was quite humorous. Mairi is feisty, she is headstrong and often has Ronan trying to figure out what to do next where she is concerned. This would be a fun summer read, just to lazily relax and immerse yourself in a enchanting story.
This book was a little bit over the top. The love story here was so sappy that it was so hard for me to connect with the characters. Ronan was sappy and love at first sight. Mairi is a Sinclair women whose very stubborn but sometimes her stubbornness was unbelievable. The majority of this book was spent on Ronan wooing Mairi and two chapters are spent on the drama and angst around the curse.
I would have liked a stronger female character and a not so sappy Ronan. Most Scots men in romance books are Alpha males and Ronan had some promise but he was mostly a push over sappy guy. Mairi's progress in the love story didn't seem genuine. Her emotions and reactions were jumpy very unrealistic.
I was able to read this book as a stand alone as I hadn't read any of the other books previously. The other books in the series look very intrigued and I am intrigued by the older sisters that I may go back and read the other books.
An ARC was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I received an uncorrected proof of this book, from the publisher through net galley, in exchange for an honest review. I read the first book in this series as well. I enjoy the storytelling and characters. This story is about a witches curse on her husband, his leman, their child, and an innocent bystander at the drowning of the witch, to see her as she truly was. The curse spans centuries and requires a special woman to break it. I thought it was a delightful story about Mairi, the third Sinclair sister, finally figuring out where she belongs. My only complaint is about the redundancy of feelings of being lied to/duped on Mairi's part by Ronan. It was reiterated multiple times, a little over-done.
Wow this book has it all! A curse, a shifter, a witch, a time traveler, love, betrayal, heartache, a castle, a dragon, and meddling family! It hits every topic a romance novel can have! And dare I say it was. a REAL novel not a 100 pages and real characters.
I liked the story and all the elements. Mairi irritated me with her whining. He showed her all the time he loved her and she couldn't see. Ronan also rubbed me wrong at times with his insistence of not telling the whole truth, but aren't all men like that! They are hot together and have great chemistry. The ending was a tad predictable. I didn't know this was the third book in the series I might be going back to read them and looking forward to the next!
Good read enjoyed it! Recieved ARC for an honest review
I love the continuation of this series. Visiting old friends is always nice. Mairi has a big heart but not much trust in humans. From the first touch of Ronan's wolf, Mairi is in deep. She takes pleasure in introducing him to modern life although unwittingly. Once all comes clear, she fights her attraction to Ronan but agrees to do what it takes to break the curse. Ronan does not know how to open up to Mairi. He thinks he is doing the best thing by keeping secrets. They both push the other away until the moment of truth when they both realize what that truth is. The humor and the pace of this story kept me reading. I am enjoying this series very much and look forward to the next one.
Thanks Wicked Reads for a copy to read and review.
I would just like to say that the blurb and cover caught my eye on this book but the actual story didn't really suck me in. This was my first in this series and I'm not a fan of time travel books unless they give me a good feeling of the awkwardness to be out of that time period they came from. I felt like there wasn't enough description of that, it seemed solely based on Ronan and Mairi. The book was good it just wasn't what I was expecting. The book seems to cover several genres like paranormal, romance and historical. Entertainment was three stars and I'd likely not read more of this series.
Ronan Sutherland and Mairi are made for each other. the story line, and plot are good. The side characters were well done and The description of the scenes spot on. I could feel everything around and it sometimes felt as if I was their. Though If I was I would have popped both them upside the head. lol Anyways this is a great book, I laughed, action, and mystery. It is a must read.
I got such a laugh reading the antics of Ronan and Mairi throughout this story. They were two characters who were hilarious and heartfelt throughout the story and a joy to read :) Steamy passionate moments and enough drama that kept me on edge. Twists and likeable characters within the story and one that I completely enjoyed reading. Review copy received from the Publisher
Ronan had been cursed to shapeshift into a wolf. His mother was now a wolf and his friend Graham was a dragon shifter. Graham was a dragon by day and a man by night. Ronan had been summoned to go to the clan MacKenna and that Lady Mairi Sinclair was the woman to be his wife. The he found out by Chiefton Guy MacKenna it was the ‘old one’ - the Sinclair matraich who had demanded he come. Ronan would rather face a legion of MacKenna soldiers than a private sitting with Lady Nia Sinclair- Mairi’s grandmother. Then Ronan finds out Lady Mairi is in the twenty first century - Ronan is in the thirtenth century- and having a good time there. Ronan would have to go to the twenty first century to get Mairi. Mairi has a job as a nurse using her healing power to help people. One day on her way to work she hit a wolf and Mairi brings the wolf home to heal him. Mairi is attracted to Ronan but doesn’t trust him and Ronan knows she the one but he keeps telling Mairi half truths even though she gave him a lot of chances to come clean. I didn’t hate hate this story but it wasn’t a favorite of mine either. It just didn’t WOW me. Ronan was afraid he would lose the chance to break the curse he had been under for three hundred years. I didn’t like the was Mairi treated Ronan most of the time. I liked how Ronan cared for Miri even if he wasn’t completely honest with her. So much banked on her marrying him. The plot was good but I am not really into time travel stories. But I at least liked this one as far as the time travel goes. I am sure others will find this a completely enjoyable read.
It Mairi's turn now to fulfill her destiny. Granny natters her to come to the thirteenth century, but Mairi doesn't want to give up indoor plumbing and electric and technology. So Granny sends wolf-shifter Ronan forward to bring her to the 13th century so Mairi can break a 300 year old curse.
I was curious how Ronan would redeem himself after the last book. He really didn't. He lied to Mairi by omission throughout the book. I'm not understanding why? The Sinclairs have powers and can jump through time. Why would a wolf shifter be weird? I didn't really understand the secretiveness. And then Mairi finds out what Ronan did to Kenna from Kenna. Just ain't right.
Also, the romance happened to quickly. I can understand jumping each other bones, but they were talking about true love way too soon and I didn't see why they were smitten with each other beyond looks.
That said, I liked Mairi a lot. Although, I hoped she learned not to drink her problems away. It did create a funny moment when Mairi belches in Granny's face. Well, that's what Granny gets for scheming. I wish everyone had been honest with Mairi from the start, she's cool.
I will be getting the fourth book, because I like the time travel element, the vivid characters, and the setting. I especially love guys in kilts.
This book did not disappoint. It is not your normal battles of highlanders, etc. This series deals with the interwoven feelings of clansmen who are fighting not against themselves but otherworldly powers that could destroy them. What they face causes fear, doubts and confusion that could tear them to pieces. Mairi, Ronan, Granny Sinclair, Graham and Ronan's mother Iona are faced with a battle of spiritual wills of power that will have devastating consequences and physical pain. Who will survive?? Ah, this is a question best answered by reading this book!
It was interesting to see this in reverse. Instead of the women going to a century they were unsure of, learning all these things to make their men happy, it was amazing to see the man go to modern times and try to get along. An overly protective Highlander, in modern days of strong willed women, and the chaos that comes with it? It leads to amusing romances and this series certainly provides.
I wish there was more backstory for Mairi. What happened to her that made her build walls like that? Something happened in her past and is alluded to, but never actually told to the reader.
Ronan's inability to tell Mairi the whole truth got frustrating really quickly. Every time he is given a chance to he doesn't. I wished for that to not have gone on as long as it did.
I really enjoyed this book. The 3rd sister of the Sincare women Mairi has been summoned by her granny to the 13th century to marry Chief Ronan. He needs her love to break a 300 year curse put on him, his mother and his mentor. Maeve Greyson is an amazing author. Her writing style flows, keeps your interest and has a bit of humor.
