When you're haunted by a dark past, can you ever find the light?
Architect Mark Bradford escaped to the country town of Bindarra Creek with his seven year old daughter, far from his ex fiancée who six years earlier tried to kill him and their baby girl.
When Frenchwoman Brigitte de Rosier arrives as Mark’s live-in nanny, Mark’s world is turned upside down. All those painful memories he thought buried long ago, resurface.
Brigitte came to Bindarra Creek to spend time with her uncle. She never expected to be drawn to her remote, new boss and his lonely daughter, and wants to bring some light into their shadowy lives.
But Mark is over-protective and doesn't agree with her belief in giving the little girl some freedom. How can she teach him to loosen the reigns with his daughter, defeat the ghost of his past and give love another chance? And how can she overcome the fact she resembles the woman who tried to destroy him and his little girl?
Yes we all have ghosts from the past, sometimes our fault & sometimes not but we usually contributed in some way. The Ex wife could have been explored a little more. Generally a good read.
This debut small town story from Simone Angela was an intriguing read. Again another unique voice in this series. With every new release I continue to be enthralled and entertained by each author's different spin on this country town. This story didn't disappoint. It was every bit as enjoyable as each new release has been so far, and kept me turning the page long after I should have been asleep. Each new story brings a new adventure and a greater insight into this town. If I had one very small bit of critique it would be that I would have liked to have seen the author explore the suspense element a little more deeply and use the arrival of Mark's ex wife to its full advantage. Given that this is Ms Angela's first foray in rural romantic suspense, I thought she did a wonderful job with the plot.
Such a deep, complex, and at times dark, book. Yet the characters, both fighting their own demons, strive to live their lives in the best way they can. Conflict, emotional roller coasters, and lots of tugging on heart strings, makes this book in the Bindarra Creek Romance series memorable. An intriguing sub-plot heightens the enjoyment of this book. Really enjoyed it.
