Hi, I’m Zara…warrior princess. I don’t usually tell that last bit to strangers, but I say it in my head all the time. It’s one of the many mantras that have helped me to get to where I am today. And believe me when I say that I’ve come a long way.
Besides, if you’re a woman and you happen to have ever struggled with issues of self-esteem, we’re probably gonna be fast friends anyway, so I won’t hold anything (much) back.
Oh, and Zara wasn’t the name I was born with—but you’ll find out more about that in the book.
I don’t know about you, but my own struggle with my weight has held me back a bit in life. And my self-esteem took a real nose dive after my fiancé dumped me—via text, no less. (I know, right? Jerk!…but I don’t usually dwell on things in the past, so let’s just move right along from that, shall we?)
So, I’m still a work-in-progress for sure, but I’m really starting to figure it all out—how to be more of who I’m meant to be every day—including the bumps, the lumps, and my bruised ego along the way.
Oh and I love my sisterhood (more about that later) - the women who join me in believing that we are all capable of being strong, amazing, warrior princesses—just the way we are right now.
*** FUN FACT: “Becoming Zara” is a standalone novella, but if you’re following the character of Samantha Bradford as she crosses off the items of her bucket list (the Single Wide Female Series), this is the book that Samantha publishes to complete her bucket list item #18 (Publish a Book).
Note: You can download #1 Learn Pole Dancing of that series for free.
The “Single Wide Female” books are written for every woman out there who has struggled with their weight, self-esteem and any number of issues that we all face as we work to become the best versions of ourselves that we can be.
They are meant to be light-hearted and fun, but I do hope that they will inspire you to live your life to the fullest, loving yourself completely as you do so.
If you have not read any of the Single Wide Female (SWF) books let me begin by says Sugar you need to grab a hold of The Bucket List 81 Learn Pole Dancing (it;s free i think everywhere) and you will see why Lillianna Blake is such an amazing writer. Just so you kinda understand what this book is, Samantha is the main character in Single Wide Female book series and she has a bucket list, I love this girl she is comfortable in her own skin. She is a curvy girl who has lost some weight and after doing so decide to blog about doing the things on her bucket list, Becoming Zara is number 18 on her bucket list, Publish a Book.
As I was reading the book I could not help but compare Samantha to Zara and Max *her secret crush and BFF in Single Wide Female* to Braden in Becoming Zara. Unlike Lillianna Blake's SWF books were there is a great deal of laughter and this book had me thinking more. It had me looking more into Samantha's head and heart and wondering where the next SWF books are going to go and if Max and BLUE *who i happen to think IS MAX* will read into the book what I am reading into this book.
Grab a copy, but if you have not read the series I have to share with you the entire series is wonderful. I read in bed a lot and my husband refuses to let me read this series in bed because i laugh to much and keep him up. In fact we now plan date nights for when a collection is coming out and we have a glass of wine *me* Beer *him* and i read the collection out loud and we laugh and laugh, YES Collection because Lillianna Blake is wonderful about actually grouping books together so if you want to wait for a set at a time (like i do) you can save and make a night of it. Grab Learn Pole Dancing for free and of course Becoming Zara is so good grab it today!!
I love the fact that when someone loves themselves it shows, it radiates and people are drawn to it. Been there 325 lbs ago, still there at 380+ but, I've outlived both my parents and I love myself on a good day.
I just wish it was more that way, more like Zara than her idiot brother-in-law. If a person is confident, size doesn't matter. Yea for Zara, yea for Lilianna, and yea for more characters like these!
It's about time that women had Zara, Warrior Princess, in their corner cheering them on! Thanks Zara!
I love this book! It's all about loving whatever body and mind that a lady naturally is given by whatever rates determine such things. A lady can be larger than a size 3, and still be loving, loved, and lovable by family, friends, acquaintances, boyfriends, and husbands. Be proud of who you are and what you are! Be happy, content, and love yourself! That's so cool! What a powerful and positive message to put out there in the cosmos...I love it! This was one of those books that's so good that it's bound to leave an impression on everyone who reads it, long after the book has ended. I, for one, intend to start talking to myself, in the mirror, in the car, and everywhere, no matter how crazy it might make me appear to observers, and sending out those positive messages and vibes everyday! What a wake-up call! If you're a full-figured woman, you'll discover a new-found appreciation in yourself. And even the most svelte, skinny model will discover a positive message for themselves to take away from this book. Thanks, Lillianna Blake, for encouraging that little bit of Zara found in some degree in practically every woman, to set them free to be their truest selves. Self-confidence and self-love are never too late to encourage in everyone, whatever their age, size, color, and shape!
Be your best self and along the way learn to truly love yourself wherever you are on that journey!
Zara, warrior princess, is a very lovable and funny woman. Not unlike myself!! That's why I can understand her pain, her self doubts and her lack of self love. Her journey has been long and tumultuous. Be if you persevere, the world can be your oyster. Go get 'em Zara!!
I finished this in two days anyway this was a really good, awesome, interesting and inspiring book. I am going to look for the other books in the series.
I'm thinking this a bridge book between the author's Single Wide Female series and the new B.I.G. Girls Club. It wasn't bad, as it was a pretty self contained story and not a serial one like the Single Wide Female series is. However, it really wasn't anything special. It seemed like just a repeat of what had been done in the SWF series. Zara was easy to identify with, and some of her exploits were funny, but it all seemed a bit stale. All in all, a good read, but not one I'm in a hurry to re-read anytime soon.
I loved this book! Funny, inspirational, goals and true. So many woman are struggling due to self esteem issues that hold them back from loving themselves. I have been struggling with my own weight issues since early childhood. I know the impact that being overweight has caused for me. This story tells of Sara's journey of how she has learned to love herself and in turn she is able to love others. I would recommend this to all
Very easy read, engaging, but predictable. I just can't put myself in her shoes - I am not too open to other people, so I am not into therapy because I wouldn't open up to my therapist. I also got weirded out by the dating consultant thing. Her excitement over her new venture is too much for me. I don't know, maybe I'm just her opposite (save for the weight) so I can't really relate to her.

This book held promise but almost lost me midway. I only finished it because I hoped for something more. While it is filled with inspiring passages and motivation to love yourself, the author would have been better suited to write a self-help book rather than disguise one as a work of fiction. I want to love the heroines in my books. I didn't love Zara. I didn't like her much either
This is a cute, quick-read about a woman who changed her name to Zara and decided to improve her life. She also sets out to be encouraging to everyone around her. It’s a very predictable plot, but it’s still a cute story.
Love this series and it is very uplifting. Zara is sick of her job and wanting to get a boyfriend since losing weight and shaping up. She is a strong person who is looking for happiness in every part of her life. Always great to read such uplifting stuff.
A very easy read but enjoyable. Even though it is written in a light hearted way the message is clear - as women we are too hard on ourselves and no-one will accept us until we accept ourselves :-)
Loved this book. It had me reading nonstop and I literally couldn't put the book down! The chapters were really short so were easy to read. I was laughing in places, and also getting angry in others. I'll definitely be looking for the others in this series, even though this can be read as a stand alone book. Just a note that it does finish on 81% on the kindle.
