He’s everything she thinks she hates about hockey—and everything she never knew she needed.
Cora Matthews has two work hard and never date hockey players.
Too bad Ty Callahan breaks both of them.
When a rival team’s rink is destroyed, Cora finds herself managing two hockey teams—and hiding it from her own. The last thing she needs is the arrogant captain from across the ice distracting her.
But Ty isn’t just another cocky hockey star. He’s patient. Protective. And far too easy to fall for.
Breaking her rules was never part of the plan. Neither was finding the family she never expected.
Ella Rylie is the contemporary romance author behind The Offside Series, where banter is practically a love language, found family is automatic, and emotionally stunted characters eventually get their act together.
When she isn’t writing, she’s usually fueled by Mountain Dew, rewatching her favorite anime, shamelessly cheering on the Boston Bruins, or sneaking yet another book onto her already overflowing bookshelf and insisting she won it in a giveaway.
holyyyyy sh*t! that’s all I can say. I want to thank ella so much for giving us this ARC early, it means everything to me I get to be part of your content team.
I loved this story between Cora and Ty so much! I wish it never ended and kept going because not only did it take me less than 24 hours to read, I was completely consumed and obsessed with Ty. ( him in glasses 🤓 oh come on)🥵 oh can’t stop thinking about how much he pays attention to her sugar levels due to her being diabetic. 🫶🏼
I loved Cora and her whole personality - she was created so beautifully by ella and her office chair scene 🌶️🌶️.
Cora dealing with losing a parent early on and having a absent one due to medical diagnosis and her and her twin brother being absent and drifting away from her causes to have some grief but over time ty helps her with healing and feeling like she has a home and safe and Freya being a mom figure to cora is something so special to see develop throughout the whole story.
I’m so ready for the rest of the Offsides series! i’m very impatient for the next one since I believe I think I caught some details who’s next and I can NOT wait! 🤍

Ahhh!! If Ty isn’t the MOST GOLDEN OF GOLDEN RETRIEVERS, idk who is!! 🥹💛
I loved this story SO much! The little details Ty noticed and remembered about Cora had my heart melting. Their banter and chemistry were just EVERYTHING, and the side characters were the perfect addition to the story!
I already can’t wait to see what comes next for this series!! 😍
What I can say about Offside and Reckless is that, as a hockey romance, this book DELIVERED! It’s addictive, and once you start reading, you will not want to put it down.
I absolutely adore Cora. Her diabetes representation is something we don’t see nearly enough of in fiction, and I loved how it was woven into her character and her everyday life. She’s such a relatable character, and I found myself feeling so protective of her. There’s also Alzheimer’s representation in this book, which is very close to my heart, and let me tell you, it will make you CRY. Coming from someone who literally never cries while reading, I can confirm that I did.
And Ty? THE GOLDEN RETRIEVER ENERGY! The way he cares about Cora, pays attention to her blood sugar levels, and always makes sure she’s okay had me melting. He genuinely wants her to feel safe, supported, and loved. I adored the way he showed up for her.
These two become each other’s soft landing, and watching their relationship develop was so wholesome. There’s something so special about a love story where two people can find comfort, safety, and understanding in each other, and Cora and Ty absolutely delivered that for me.
Another thing I really appreciated was that hockey wasn’t just a backdrop to the romance. It was genuinely woven into the story, and as someone who loves hockey romance, that makes such a difference! Give me the hockey, the romance, the swoony golden retriever MMC, and all the feelings PLZ!
Offside and Reckless gave me everything I want in a hockey romance --- an addictive story, characters I care deeply about, a sweet and supportive love interest, meaningful representation, and ALL THE EMOTIONS.
Ella Rylie, you got me with this one. Five stars, absolutely deserved! Now give me the second installment. ;)
Ty and Cora have my WHOLE heart. I loved this book so much! First of all, this felt like a legit hockey romance with actual hockey action, and I loved how hockey-literate it felt compared to other books I’ve read in the genre. The sport was woven into the story in a way that made it feel authentic. Cora was such a sweet character, and I just wanted to reach through the book and hug her the entire time. TY CALLAHAN THE MAN THAT YOU ARE!!! He makes you fall in love with him almost instantly. He is so wonderful, so good to Cora, and such a perfect fit for her. Their relationship was really special. Some of my favorite characters were actually the side characters (Freya, I LOVE YOU. Whit, I LOVE YOU). They brought so much to the story, and I already need more of them! I also loved Cora and Logan’s relationship as twins and the family dynamic throughout the story. There are so many little things that left me with questions, and I’m honestly SO excited for the second book to see where everything goes! Cora’s dad’s Alzheimer’s storyline absolutely wrecked me. It added such an emotional layer to the book, and there were moments that genuinely broke my heart and had me in tears. If you love hockey romance, found family, lovable characters, emotional storylines, and authors who clearly KNOW how to write hockey, you need to read this! Thank you to Ella Rylie for the ARC, all opinions are my own.
