The Seven #1

On My Knees

Rate this book
An insatiable need burns inside him that can only be quenched by one thing... her.

Augustus' people had spent years in talks with the humans, moving toward the day when the Seven, the preternatural races of beings on earth could "come of the darkness" and integrate with society. He had pulled himself away from the peace he'd found on Santuary, his ranch in Texas, to lend his efforts toward the goal. And despite his misgivings, they were mere weeks away from signing an agreement.

Then he saw her. He had to have her, no matter the risk, no matter the cost. Nothing would stop him. Not even her.

Layla felt like she was living a dream. Her paranormal romance about a woman being abducted by a Vampire and the love that developed between them had become a hit. She was being sought after by publishers, film producers and even interviewed on one of the biggest morning news shows in the country.

Life is good. Well, until she passes out in the back seat of a limo after a book signing, and wakes up tied to a bed. Then things aren't so swell. Turns out life can mirror fiction. Just like the heroine in her book, she's been abducted.

By a Vampire. And to make matters worse, he's pure sex in jeans. And he doesn't intend to let her go.

He might not intend on her leaving, but she's dead set on it. It's a battle of wits and wants as passions flare. A contest to see who will emerge the victor and who will end up on their knees.

The book started out good, the description of the book sounded good, the cover looked really good but nope couldn't finish it. For me the relationship was to fast. I mean she gets kidnapped, tries to run away, twice. Than the same night they are having sex? (Fade to black sex!) I just wasn't feeling it.

I so wanted to love this book. The premise is great. The cover is fantastic. The story had promise, but for some reason I can't quite put my finger on, it fell short for me. I do think if you enjoy vampire books you might enjoy it.

I loved this story! Fast paced and easy to read. Very interesting characters and plot. If I ran across a hot cowboy vampire, I wouldn't be trying to escape! I can't wait for Gabriel's story! Based on Ciana's notes in the front of the book, some of these characters were introduced in previous series. It didn't affect this story at all. You didn't feel like you were missing anything. I will be going back and reading those in the near future. I haven't read anything I didn't like from Ciana. I totally recommend this book!

I cannot wait to see what happens with them and the humans. I love her best friend who is fae.. i completely love that there are many many different supernaturals in one story and a lot of them friends. This was written beautifully and I loved it.

Predictable Plot, Boring

Got about 1/3 through but had to give up on this one. The main character is a silly woman so annoying I couldn't read anymore. The plot is predictable and rushed. The characters are shallow and superficial. The one potential sex scene was a ”fade to black.” There is no romance or charisma to be found. Flat with no emotion. Sorry, can't recommend.

I really liked this book. Great series starter.

This book had a little bit of everything. It had romance, intrigue, and some angst. I understood where all of the main characters were coming from, in regards to their feelings and even wanted to punch some of the side characters. I did think that the feelings that Augustus and Layla had for each other developed a little to fast, but the ability to know what the other was truly feeling helped me get behind their feelings. I wish there would have been a few more tidied up story lines, but I suppose might be addressed in the next book. I can't wait to read Gabriel's story. Great job Ms. Stone.

I almost didn't go past chapter 1 because I thought it was heading into an erotica direction. While there are a few intimate scenes, the plot itself is so unique. This is the first supernatural storyline where the supes want to come out in the open and live peacefully with humans. I'm excited to read the rest of the series.

This was unbelievably awesome. I loved every minute of it from start till end. I knew it was the publicist that was behind all the attacks, plus she wanted the vampire for herself.

Disappointing

I like the idea. Unfortunately execution however could use some work.
I found the story unrealistic. The heroine fell far to fast considering the circumstances. The book could also use an editor. Some sentences are jarring due to being nonsensical.

This was a very enjoyable book with lots of action. It sure held my attention.
I would recommend this book for others that love the supernatural. You would sure have your choice of which ones from vampire to fae or even were wolves.

Good fantasy love story

Not sure I would like it. Turned out to be very enjoyable. I don't typically like love stories. But I did enjoy this one

I loved the premise of this book: a paranormal romance writer writes a first novel about a human woman being abducted by a vampire. She's down to her last dollar when unexpectedly the book takes off and becomes a big hit. Then after leaving a book signing, the writer gets kidnapped by a vampire. Not just any vampire, but the Prince of Vampires, son of the Queen Vampire and one of The Seven. The Seven are the leaders of each of the preternatural races of beings on earth who have banded together to form an alliance with human governments. This aspect of the book is unfortunately mostly rushed over, no real details of what could be an interesting sub-story. The rest is a somewhat predictable paranormal romance: he's older than dirt, handsome as can be, filthy rich, etc. One interesting tidbit, he used to be the ruler of Rome. I'll save the details to avoid a spoiler. She tries to run away, gets captured by his enemies. He kills the enemy without blinking an eye, they did deserve it. But the reason for the 3 stars is that the book is very uneven, parts are interesting and detailed, other parts are skimmed over and left me wanting more. And then it just sort of ends - kind of like the author just ran out of time to work on the book. There is hope, a second book in the series is announced at the end of the book and book #2 features the Angel of The Seven. He has the potential to be a very interesting character. I imagine the plan is for each of the The Seven to get their own book. We'll see, if the next book is reasonably priced, I'll give this author and this series another chance.

This is my first time in reading this author and I was drawn to this because it promised suspense in with the paranormal. Paranormal is just one of my favorites to read but neck and neck is suspense and when the tow are combined woowee. Layla of all things is a writer and she wrote a paranormal that when it wouldn't be picked up by publishers she went indie and now she is flying with it. After a event though she thinks she is being picked up to be taken to her hotel but she is actually going on a detour. When she wakes up she will find out more than she thought was possible. Augustus just couldn't resist her and must meet her but conventional isn't possible. Also just imagine if those you thought were just fiction were real what would you do? This author brings this into play plus it has been revealed to world as you read. You get her reaction to Augustus with humor in the mix plus passion will not be missed. She will also have more adventure than any book could of given her with drama around every corner. Just love how the author grows their relationship though through it all especially with the spin the story has anyways found it all captivating along with the suspense. When all said and done with this novel though would very much like to see it continue because it opened the door to so many possibilities in stories. Really thrilled with this author and her writing style she has a stamp all of her own.

This is the second book that I have read that Ciana Stone wrote. She puts a different twist on Paranormal. ...
Layla was a Paranormal Romance writer, she spent almost everything she had to get this published and off the ground. This being a very scary situation, what if no one is reading her book. Three weeks of worry and it turns out Layla was an over night sensation, everyone was buying her books....Layla made an appearance on a TV show and was asked questions. One question was would you like to be kidnapped by a Vampire. Part of her answer was "Bring it On"
Augustus Thurinus took Layla to his ranch where she learns about the "Seven " Augustus is in charge of the Seven who are Preterhumans, which if and when they want to come out to the world from there hiding spaces and go public the Seven will go to the Government for talks. BUT atlas they are not ready yet. The Seven consists of Vampire , Skinwalker , Archangel , Wizard, Daemon, , Fae , Changeling all who have there own city. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

I liked that this was a different take on your basic paranormal book. I thought that it gave the potential to expand into a multiple book series which is something I absolutely love. However this felt way to much like a standalone book and the story line was completely wrapped up. There wasn’t any real teaser to open up additional books. The characters were decently developed though I had a hard time liking the main male lead. For a vampire type he was okay but I think that he was too hard and cold. I would have liked him a bit better if there was something more to draw me into him. I also thought that the female lead was a bit to bubble headed. I really hate the ditzy woman stereotype. Even more so since her profession in this book was that of a published author. The story line was well developed and things moved along at a decent enough pace. Overall it was a good book but I’m not sure if I would read additional books if this was to develop into a series.

I read On My Knees by Ciana Stone, and am submitting my review. Ciana Stone is a prolific writer and a consummate one. So far I have loved all her characters. That's saying something, because read a lot, a lot a lot. An average of 20 a week, so...
Anyway, On My Knees. Layla is an indie romance author, after a slew of rejections, she begs, borrows and nearly sells her soul to get her novel self published. She's weeks from being destitute when she steals herself to check her reviews. The darn book has taken off!! Now she's being wooed by publishers and talk show hosts, and deluged at book signings. A chance off-the-cuff remark and she suddenly fins herself drugged and whisked away to a gated enclave, where she wakes tied to a bed. The guy in charge has decided that he wants her for his own. Oh, and he's a vampire.

Have you ever been into reading a book and not realize that you reached the end. Then this book will have you doing just that. I didn’t know I was at the end and then I was I was sad because I wanted to story to go on. I fell in love with Augustus, he tells you like it is and his love for Layla is raw and breathtaking. Layla can be a little ditzy at times, but who isn’t. Augustus makes her believe in love and faith again.

Ciana had done it again, she reels you in and you don’t want the story to stop. She has an art in writing that just captivates you and you get sucked into the story. You fall in love with her characters and you want to know more and read more about them. Thank you for writing this.

Started and finished this book in one afternoon. I honestly could not put it down. I have such a soft spot for vampires and Augustus does not disappoint. All the males are scorching hot and it is such a pleasure when we read about the women that bring them to their knees. There is hope for all of us common mortals after all. The author Ciana Stone has given us an intriguing look into a world where all different species can interact and live in harmony. Well until the bad guys show up that is. For all lovers of Paranormal romance, I recommend this book wholeheartedly. On my Knees by Ciana Stone, will make you wish you are part of it all.

I was given this book to read for an honest review.
This book intrigued me. I love books about vampires and angels.
It was different than I thought it would be but good!
The book starts off with a romance novel author getting kidnapped after a book signing.
She gets kidnapped by a hunky vampire.
She tries to run away but in the end doesn't succeed.
She ends up falling for the vampire but she realizes that he is not who he said he was. He is the Prince of the Vampire race.
His mother the Queen of the Vampires doesn't really like Layla but in order to unite the Seven and the humans to coexist they need to get along.
It's worth the read!

I really enjoyed the different spin that this book has compared to most paranormal books. The world of the book is interesting and you find yourself wanting to know more about the characters. With magic, vampires, fae, angels, daemons, shifters and more this world has a lot of growing room and I am interested to see where the series goes from here. If you are looking for a breath of fresh air in the paranormal genre then this is for you!
