Y'all, just stop. All these 4-5 star ratings for this. Really?

Promising premise, but the failure to deliver is damn near criminal.

First off, we have yet another "Hershey skinned" beauty that blushes. You want me to ignore that? Alright, fine. But please, wtf am I supposed to do with the ENDLESS EFFIN RHAPSODIZING about the girls oh so long, oh so incredibly soft hair. I mean multiple times per chapter, and I'm not exaggerating. I'm supposed to be swayed from my irritation by one mention of her pressing it? Nah, didn't work. Its the focal point of the damn story, I shit you not. This is a love triangle; girl, boy and HAIR.

Oh, and this chocolate beauty has hazel eyes, bordering on green.

Even if I wanted to forgive those blatantly overdone, tired ass marks against this, then I would have to overlook the fact that every single thing thats done or said is so trite its as if it came from a Romance 101 class. Childhood meeting then reunited? Check. Eyes meeting across a crowded room (in this case an intersection)? Check. True love solidified in the first kiss? Check. And if you like all that, then I defy you to not be irritated by the trite conversations where male (mob tied) friends are talking like a bunch of women all to convey the heroes depth of emotion for this chick. Or how 'bout the maddening attempt to make me believe the bestie/roommate connection is so fun and deep with ONE exchange that comes off just awkward and weird. Maybe how this chick is just plain unlikeable and you are kept from liking her because shes always thinking about how others are jealous of her.

The writing was simple in that way that doesn't put you in the setting or paint a real picture. For a coastal/tourist town, I got zero idea of their surroundings, all I know about the supporting characters are they are all "hot" and flirt constantly.

I have read reviews indicating this is the author's first novel and please bear in mind, I am not afraid to give a one star review. I gave this 2 because its not the most horrific thing ever, and I can see where, over time, there is potential to develop. But y'all we have to start expecting more.

Awful.

Just really terrible. It was bad enough having to hear all about Carter's hair every other page, but no other character in the book had any agency other than to tell Carter how hot/sexy/wax poetics about her hair, all while Carter winks and blushes (lol I doubt Carter would be blushing as a dark skinned woman but okay, she's extra special I guess).

The story line is all over the place. I didn't really understand how Carter and Nathan just started making out instantly without even saying Hi, and there was no chemistry between her and Nathan.

Awful book, writing needed some help and by the end of it, I was sick of the name "Carter" because it was used 600+ times throughout the book.

Don't get it twisted because this Carter Steele is a beauty alright, but a deadly, dangerous beauty with 'M-A-J-O-R' anger issues! Add that she's is a ruthless and methodical hitman's daughter, what else would you expect!

What took me so long to read this one, I can't recall but I'm glad I did. Hero, Nathan and crazy heroine, Carter were essentially meant to be together in this fantastic topsy-turvy mafia story. I enjoyed how the two met as very young children and their lustful reconnection some 19 years later. The author, Michelle Hardin writes well and her characters- primary or secondary were all memorable making you want to keep turning the pages!

Did I say that the heroine was crazy? Well she was and I liked that about how she went about everything as if it was a plan. Her killing left me numb, then I had to read it over and over. Nathan's friends and employees where so loyal to him and very funny men. My favorite of Nathan's friend ended up being Mikoli aka Mickey then Mickey's brother Kyle, then Lucca who was Nathan's cousin and lastly Dante. And I can't forget about Carter's bff, Jenna...well she grows on ya!

“You bitch! I can’t believe you’re leaving me and moving to New York. I hate you! How dare you fall in love with that sexy ass Blond Zeus like man that’s so sweet and has very exceptional table manners, you whore!” -Jenna

....but Carter is just deadly

"It was difficult for Nathan to look at her and believe that she was capable of the things she told him she had done. At first glance, Carter Steele looks like a normal person, stunningly beautiful, but a normal twenty-two year old woman, a model perhaps. But did she look like someone capable of killing two men, and torturing one to death? Not really. He still couldn’t see it in his mind."

Tessa is clueless as to Carter's dark, deadly nature!

"Carter burst into laughter. No she did not just say what I think she said. “You’ll do what?” Carter said through a laugh, and then she narrowed her cold hazel eyes on Tessa. “Everyone, pay very close attention because if I snap, you will literally have about five seconds to save her life,” her tone was low and deadly".

Favorite quote: “I would take pleasure in hearing you scream. That is just how sadistic and twisted I am. I thought it was the two years I spent living on the streets of St. Louis after my father died that made me crazy, but no, I don’t want it to be but it’s genetics, my fucking mother,” Carter said in a matter-of-fact tone then she narrowed her eyes on Tessa. “Today you are going to learn two valuable lessons, Tessa. Lesson one, watch your mouth because shit that you say can get you royally fucked up. Lesson two, never threaten to kill someone like me, unless you are certain that you can actually get the fucking job done.” Carter sat the gun on the counter between the two of them." Yes, Carter Steele is a badass heroine to the 3rd degree! Hush your mouth! lol

My Review of Dangerous Beauty by Michelle Hardin

This is my first book by this new author and it will not be my last!
This is a new Mafia IR story with Nathan “Russian” Salerno and Carterina Anastacia Steel. This is Nathan and Carter’s story along with Nathan’s Crew (Luca, Kyle, Mickey, Dante). Well will have to keep an eye on Kyle though!

Nathan is the Underboss and Enforcer for the Salerno family and will take over from his father as Mob Boss when he steps down. Carter is the daughter of the previous Enforcer for the Salerno family “Spooks”. Nathan and Carter meet as young children and an unbreakable connection is formed between the two of them. They do not see each other for many years and are brought back together through fate and the re-connection is instant and explosive!

This story is riveting, engrossing and a volatile page turner. The story is full of action, it is fast paced. The author does not waste a single word or page, the style is free flowing and easy to read. It has love, hate, murder, mystery, betrayal and intrigue.

What put this Mafia story a cut above the rest, for me is that finally, I have found an author willing to make the leading lady as bad-ass as her man. Carter is all in with her man and is not afraid to jump into the fray and get her hands dirty with Nathan and his crew. She is mafia, she tried to push it down and pretend it was not there but when she reconnects with Nathan it comes back full force! I absolutely love that about this story!!!

Nathan and Carter’s love is deep, honest, loving, emotional, they are not afraid show each other how deep their love is for one another. This is my kind of love story where the emotions are raw and true!

I love, love, love this book and I cannot wait for book two. This is one of best stories I have read in a while. If there were 10 stars to give I would give it that! I have not felt this excited about a book since Monster and that saying something!!!

I would highly recommend this book! Money well spent!

Not much to say about this one. It started off pretty good but went downhill at almost 50%. I feel like Carter (h) ruined the story for me. She went from being this cool bad ass chick to being completely fucking crazy. Her own man was kinda scared of her and he's a killer himself!!!! I couldn't keep going......oh well.

Fun read. I'm not usually one for this genre, but this girl was a great anti-hero. And yes, the grammar issues are there, but the humor, plot twists, and great pacing are all present. More than anything, I walked away wanting more and wondering how in the heck major publishers managed to keep missing such great writers.

Based on the buzz around this book, "Dangerous Beauty" has everything I would want in a story: kick-ass female lead who is neither a shrinking violet nor wishy-washy; a male lead who is tough and tender but majorly flawed; a supporting cast who causes all sorts of mayhem; and violence, lots of violence.

"Dangerous Beauty" is the story of a mafia prince who falls in love with a hitman's daughter. Sounds pretty awesome, plus it's written in 3rd person!

I had such high hopes...

Sometimes books have tremendous potential, but a series of little missteps derail the entire thing. That is my experience with "Dangerous Beauty."

There's so much I couldn't look past in order to rate higher, but I don't want to come across as bashing the book or the author, so I'll omit my crit.

I suppose most readers pick up this book for the romance, and there's plenty of it. Well there's plenty of sex. It isn't graphic or anything. It's actually quite tame in comparison to the language in the book.

The supporting cast is fun.

I understand this is the author's first book, so I have hope her future works will be more pulled together.

I really enjoyed Nathan and Carter's story. I like the idea of a alpha female who can hold her own. Nathan and Carter met when they were both very young and grew very attached to each other. Fast forward 19 years later, when they meet again. They have this undeniable attraction to each other that they just can't ignore. This story was a fast paced story that I couldn't put down. I can't wait for part 2.

Wow... um yeah so I loved this book, actually if I am to be completely honest I enjoy mafia books.. add in the interracial relationship and hook line sinker. However... I will be completely honest it took me until around the 30% mark to really get into this book. I wasn't giving up on it because the issue I had was simple and eventually I knew it will all click into place... Now what was the issue you ask?

Well... there were A LOT of people thrown in from the beginning of the book... "The five" was introduced pretty early on... which mean I needed to put faces with these beautiful men and still follow the storyline of the two main characters (which is very interesting because though there is clearly two main characters the author makes everyone's roll very important..which after a bit... I kinda love) ... maybe I am still not clear... when I read a book I see it as clear as a movie in my head... however when I can't place faces with the names... it makes for a pretty sucky movie in my head.. which leads to frustration. HOWEVER around the 30-40% mark everything started to click and place (Please note this is clearly a me problem)

Now there is not one freaking thing that I disliked about the storyline... the beginning was so freaking cute it made my heart hurt.. and the ending... made my heart hurt as well... but I am not worried about that cliff hanger because all of the books are already out so I am just a click away from continuing on this awesome journey!

The relationship between the boys and carter made me giddy.. add on Angelo and my face hurt from smiling so freaking much. I just love love love it! and let's not forget that carter is one bad ass!

okay okay enough I am off to read book 2... I do apologize for not providing a review like I "normally do" but I kinda just wanted to get what was on my brain out and move on to the next book... no excitement in this review and it's not for a lack of a great book..simply because I need to know what happens next!

Signing off... "perfezionare!!"

WOW !!!!! WOW !!!!!WOW !!!!!WOW !!!!!WOW !!!!!WOW !!!!!WOW !!!!!WOW !!!!!

This is my first read by Michelle Hardin and it certainly will not be my last. This story pulled me in from page one and I could not put it down. I loved the first meeting between Carter and Nathan but the second meeting blew me away and I loved the insta love and there was no games being played. Carter wanted Nathan and she took him.

Carter was a good heroine, she was strong, feisty and sassy, she was easy to fall in love with and I liked the fact that she was tough but still maintained her sexiness.

Nathan.... OMG what a sweetheart and a hottie!!!!I loved his character and how he was with his "brothers" and his parents. He was well written and you just cannot help but fall for him. He was also not intimidated by Carter and her toughness which is very sexy.

His love for Carter was one for the history books, it was almost like they where soul mates, he had me hooked, I loved seeing his vicious side and his soft side.

The brothers ......hot hot hot hot. I hope some time down the line we get more books in this series as I would love to read about how these hotties fall for there leading ladies.

If you are looking for a good solid romance book that is well written with a good story and a good plot, pick this one up. It will keep you up wanting to finish,it is soo addictive. Be aware there is a cliff hanger but thankfully book 2 is out and so far it is continuing to impress me.

This was an amazing read. The story, all the characters, where absolutely amazing and interesting. This book is a keeper.

Wow!

This may be Ms. Hardin's first book but she knocked it out the park. Carter is bad ass and her man and his crew are not to be messed with. This story has romance, mystery, suspense, gore and humor all rolled into one awesome tale. The only thing I hate about a series is waiting for the next installment. Please don't make us wait too long, Ms Hardin. Kudos!

Michelle Hardin has written a Mafia love story that spans 19 years. In part 1 the story starts with with a gorgeous, blue eyed blond 5 year old boy extending his hand out to a scared little 3 year old girl who's skin is like milk chocolate and beautiful long dark hair, taking her out to his mothers beautiful rose garden. He gives her a yellow rose and asks her to kiss it a make a wish. They never see each other again after that day.

19 years later Nathan Salerno, mafia underboss, ruthless killer, who does his fathers dirty work for the family, never getting attached to any woman because of how he lost his mother, spending years looking for the 3 year old girl he once meet has a child, only to have his wish and dreams shattered when told that she die when her family was killed.
He stopped himself from getting to close to any woman, he was destined to spend his life alone. No wanting to commit. Every year on the anniversary of his mothers death Nathan would spend that time doing nothing on this time joining his crew in Hope beach.

Carter Steel living her life on her own after the murder of her father, spending 2 year on the streets of St Louis, scrimping and saving to finally move to Hope Beach. She was all alone in this world.

Carter and Nathan's world collide when he sees a mysterious girl in a garden at hope beach that picks a rose and kisses it. Through a mutual friend they meet and 19 years of being apart bring out the most passionate love affair, bringing them back together.

This book part 1 will leave you wanting to know more wanting answers to all the questions that are asked, you want these two loves to live happily ever after, and you can see the chemistry between them from day one. This is not any mafia book, it has the blood and guts, murder and death but it also has the love story that only time can bring together, both Carter and Nathan can be ruthless but they calm one another, they are hot and sexually fired.

You will fall in love with all of the boys in Nathan's crew because they are so protective and just so loving and accepting of Carter. They can see she really can tame the Salerno bad boy, but also see how Nathan can control and be possessive and protective of his princess.

You definitely have to read book 2 to see how this story ends. I gave part 1, 5tars, and was drawn to the story line, I found it easy to read and could put it down. Michelle Hardin has written a book I will read again and again, thats how much I loved it.

I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.

WOW I just finish reading this book, and let me just say that I love it, love the characters, and cant believe that's how the book end it, I have to say that this book had me seating down on the edge of my seat, once I started reading this book I couldn't put the book down, and now I am so ready to read the second part of it, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.

Let me just say that this book has a little of everything, Romance, Action, Drama, and the Sex scene are hot.

The story begging with Nathan, he is five years old and he love spending time with his mother, and in his favorite part of the house a garden, that day Angelo, Nathan father let his wife know that his friend and business associate Spook, will be visiting with his three year old daughter, and for her to keep and eye on her, after she agree Nathan and his mom heard the door bell, that's when they when to meet them up, that was the day that Nathan met Carter, the beautiful three year old girl with the saddest eyes, that was the day that Nathan promise to take care of her. Now nineteen years later Nathan is in business with his father, and his about to take off and spend time by himself like he does every year around this time, in the mean time Carter is trying to change the way she is, she live in a small town with her best friend and housemate, for the last five years she had it tough, but everything changes for Carter and Nathan, after Nathan was convince to go to the small town with his friend, he saw Carter and he knew that she was different, that was the day that Carter life was gone change again.

I love the chemistry and the way how Carter and Nathan are with each other, I love Carter attitude, love it how she gets angry and how she does what she want, love how bad boy is Nathan and his temper, and how protective he is of Carter.

I really love and enjoy reading this book, Author Michelle Hardin THANK YOU for introducing me to this awesome characters and this amazing book love it.

This book was highly recommended by one of my reading buddies. She reads just as much as I do, so although I usually check out the reviews before I buy a book from an author I haven't read before, I bought this one strictly on her recommendation. A short time after I bought the book, I decided to check out the reviews. I was impressed that there were so many reviews, and that the majority of them were 5 stars, so I was extremely excited about this one. The Epilogue was pretty good, so I was very hopeful. But it seems like things fell apart somewhat after that. The premise of the story was a good one, but the execution was kind of off, IMO. Having said that, although I could hardly stop groaning and rolling my eyes pretty much throughout the whole book, I couldn't seem to put it down. Crazy, right?

My life is real enough, so I don't mind a bit of fantasy in my reading. But Carter and Nathan fell in love way too quickly. And that whole fight scene between Carter and the waitress she worked with was just crazy. As was the introduction to Nathan's father. I can suspend reality while reading, but only so much.

I'm sure it sounds like I'm definitely done with this series, but I'm not, LOL. The ending was very intriguing and I'm super curious about what happens next. I'm going back for more folks. I've got my fingers and toes crossed that I don't regret it.

I think this book was FANTASTIC. Intriguing, sweet, funny, intense and HOT! It makes me want to go out and find a Russian/ Italian mafia man haha.

Anyway, the characters in this book are well developed.. if you like to fall in love with main characters, it definitely happens here. Michelle Hardin makes them vividly come to life. Our two main protagonists have quite the back stories that initially shroud them in mysteries which are slowly, and not completely unfolded throughout the book.

All in all, I couldn't put it down! I cant wait until the second book comes out in August!!

Nathan & Carter- BRAB Online Book Club

I was anxious to read this story based on the recommendations in several online book clubs. While I enjoyed the story, and applaud the author's effort, it being her first book, it was just an okay read for me.

The story just didn't flow for me, it seemed disjointed as if there was too much going on. I would love to see how Carter and Nathan's story ends, so I will definitely read the second book.

Great story! A little too many eye rolls and a very very spoiled Carterina but love the diversity and action in this book. The Fab 5 are awesome and super HOT! Looking forward to book 2 and wondering what secret Carter holds back about from Nathan. Is it Angelo's love for Anastacia or possibly Anya's infidelity????? Kudos to this new author and her wonderful imagination.

I was so excited...

I was so excited to read this book, and in some areas it didn't disappoint. However, in others I found myself whispering "wtf" or noticing the inconsistencies.

On a positive note, I liked that Carter was a strong female. Her relationship with her mom and the death of Nates mom are what I'm really interested in.
