This is book 4 in Ms. Hiatt's "Saint of Seven Dials" series. This is by far the worst of all of them (thus far since there is one more in the series). This was very disappointing especially since Ms. Hiatt is such a talented writer and has written two of my all time favorite books. But, the plot and the characters were awful! The heroine, Sarah Killian, used to be a pick pocket as a girl before she went away to school. She returns 8 years later to find her brother missing. While looking for him she meets the hero, Lord Peter Northrup. They instantly have a thing for each other and they get married. Sarah finds her brother and becomes the Saint. Does that give the story away? No, and I'll tell you why, all of that happens fairly early on in the book. What keeps the couple from professing their love for each other is because they don't trust each other with the truth. I lost count of how many times I rolled my eyes at their lying (when there was NO reason for it) or when they spouted pointless drivel at each other. Pllllleeeeaseeeeeeee. One more book in the series... I hope I won't have to throw that one across the room...
Sarah Killian and her brother William were once denizens of the Seven Dials rookery fortunately for them, they were both rescued from a life of crime by the efforts of the 'first' Saint. Sarah was sent to a girls' academy in Wales and was able to teach at her alma mater yet she was always needing news about her brother who she thought was also having an education and thus be able to enter into service or start a trade. Unknown to her, William aka Flute escaped from school and returned to Seven Dials never having that valued schooling that Sarah wanted for him. A few years passed until Sarah had enough saved for a journey back to London to find her brother. So begins an another adventure involving as yet another Saint and Sarah...
so much build up and the solution was resolved in 5 tiny pages right at the end. focused so much on lack of trust between the two main characters and then all of a sudden everything is resolved?? no chat? no talking it out? just murder and then BAM we love each other the end??

Just finished the 4th book in the series and loved it. I loved Peters Character in the 2nd book and was glad he was the main person along with Sarah in this book. I loved how Flutes character was also tied into this book. Another winner by Brenda Hiatt!
Oh how I loved this book, each new story in this series is one more stone to this incredible character of The Saint of Seven Dials. This time, the famous thief is took over by a young woman, Sarah Killian, she was a street urchin until she was sent on a board-school for poor orphaned girls. Now she is back in London and is looking for her younger brother. To protect him before he goes back to his old way as a sneak thief, she decides to stand as The Saint himself. To do so, she must also manage with her position as a ward for a distant relative, where she is find herself often in contact with the kind but also too curious Lord Peter Northrup. Peter is far more than his cheerful attitude and his selection of very colorful choice of clothing let imagine. He hides his wounds earned during the war behind a facade of a gallant dandy always aware of the new gossips. And Sarah is a kind of mystery to him, he knows she is more than meet the eyes but she has secrets, secrets she is unwilling to reveal. Together they are a lovely duet, Peter always trying to make her feel worthy even if it is sometime clumsily done. Sarah is having problems to see herself fitting in his life, plus her robbery actions can at any time put a stop to their burgeoning relationship. Even if in their inner core, they know the other is their perfect match, they struggle to find the right moment of open their thoughts, fearing to break their fragile truth, by then rising false presumptions to another. A lovely adding to this awesome series.
