Kirstin has never been out of her den before, but now one of her pack is seriously injured—he may even be dying. Desperate to help, she races straight to Middle March, the borderland between Scotland and England, and falls right into a dangerous trap.
As the new laird of his clan, Donal MacFalon has made it clear that he, unlike his brother before him, will honor the wolf pact, an agreement their father made with England’s King Henry VII to protect Scotland’s wolf shifters, the wulvers, who most believe to be only the stuff of legend.
Wulvers, though, are very real. Kirstin knows. She’s one of them.
When Donal MacFalon turns those steel blue-grey eyes her way, she realizes she’s facing something far more dangerous in this man than any trap.
This man, already promised to another, has a power over her no man or wulver has ever had before. When he opens his castle and his heart to her, she finds herself willing to risk not only her own heart, but everything she’s ever known, just to be with him.
Kirstin will find herself caught-—between the man she loves and his intended bride, between her pack and a human world frightened of her kind, between nations whose hatred runs deep.
Kirstin will be forced to make choices no woman, or wulver, should ever have to make. All for one man, whose love goes beyond borders, nations, or legends, whose heart beats only for her.

What a fabulous, suspenseful, erotic, romantic and satisfying read. This is the second book in the Highland Wolf Pact series but I think it could also be as a standalone. This is Donal and Kristin’s story. Kirstin is a wulver and healer and Donal is now the Laird of the MacFalon Clan. Things escalate pretty quickly right from the beginning. But when a wulver scents their mate, it’s pretty hard to ignore.
What I really loved about this story is that Donal and Kirstin are upfront about their feelings and throughout the entire book. You don’t have this push and pull, back and forth with them. Nope. They do work on being together and talk about it. But as we all know, not all romance is without its problems. There is turmoil, angst and suspense and Donal and Kirstin have obstacles that they must work through.
Also, in this book we get A LOT of Raife and Sibyl which makes me super happy. For me the first book was awesome and unforgettable. So Raife and Sibyl are going through some tough times and I swear I can physically feel Sibyl’s heartache.
So about the fornicating between Donal and Kirstin... DUH! Selena Kitt wrote this book so you know its some sweet, dirty, sexy, balls dipped in awesome sauce kind of hot! I think I might put this in every review I’ve done about a Selena Kitt book and Im going to say it again… there is nothing this woman can’t write. She is amazing and I would love to get inside her mind and hang out with all the people that live in there.
Overall, this was an amazing story. Donal and Kirstin are solid and well developed characters, the writing is superb, the storyline is flawless and the sex is filthy and scorching. My only complaint is that it was difficult for me to get into it at the beginning. But the rest of it was glorious and I loved it. I really can’t wait to read more about the prophecy and the red wulver. Bring on the next book!

Look at me reading an historical Scottish werewolf shifter romance story! Not my usual fare, but I absolutely loved the first book in this series and Selena Kitt is one of my go to smut writers, so as soon as I saw this was up for review, I was all over it.
This could be read as a standalone, but it would make more sense to read the first book in the series - Highland Wolf Pact - first as it provides much of the background for this book's universe of wulvers (half human, half wolf), middle land and the ruling Scottish clan. This is the story of Kirstin, a female wulver and Donal MacFalon, the new Scottish Laird.
The couple have to overcome much suspicion and prejudice from the people who surround them, but they both know they have met 'the one' and go for it with gusto. Wow the smut in this was so intense and raw and rough, with him growling dirty words in her ear and her howling away. Not one to read in public unless you've mastered your poker reading face; I was trying to read this at the hairdressers which was a really bad idea with all of those mirrors around, reflecting my flushed face.
At the same time as the couple are fighting the prejudice of others to be together, even bigger threats are looming that that could drastically change their entire way of life. This stretched the tension nicely and kept me reading avidly. There are a few shady characters in this who keep you guessing about their loyalties and the characters face dilemmas that have no easy solution, so at times, this made for quite an angsty read - it's not just a smut-fest, there's lots going on in this.
My only complaint was the dialect; every character spoke with a heavy Scottish dialect; Donal's was almost impenetrable at times. Because there was so much direct speech, I did find that trying to translate the dialect into speech could be an effort and that got old pretty fast. While I understand the need for authenticity, it was a pity there was so much of it, and especially coming from the main characters as it pulled me out of the story fairly frequently. I can't recall the dialect being as heavy in the last book, but perhaps it's me, I don't know.
This is an excellent series that will suit anyone looking for a pnr story with lots of heat and tension. Highly recommended.
***I received an arc from the author in return for my honest opinion. Thanks!***
This is outside of my normal picks for books but I just loved the first one thrust I read for a challenge and just had to continue the series.
This book picks up right where the last ends. With a shifter warrior recuperating from battle at the castle of the person keeping the peace pact in place. When the shifter healer arrived a mate is found. You'll have to read to find out who and if they can survive being hunted.
Very Enjoyable well written continuations of the Highland Wolf Pact seres. I loved both Kirstin a Wulver female and Donal MacFalon. The two lead characters are well written and have the type of love and romance every couple wishes for. I like that Kirstin is smart and doesn't fall in the trap of the dumb heroine. Her and Donal who is now Laird of the MacFalon Clan have a very hot and sexy romance. Compromising Positions is a very sensual story. You know who the villains will be pretty quickly but you don't know what he is up to until almost the end of the story. I like the element of the witch in the story and I am very sure we will see more of her in the next book.
What I didn't like was Kirstin becoming human and not a wolf shifter anymore. I didn't like her taking Sibyls cure that would keep her from turning into a wolf during her moon cycle. Now she is just a human. But I still Highly Recommend Compromising Positions!!
The listen to Compromising Positions on Audible. The Narrator Dave Geillis is very good!!
After reading the first book and loving it I really wanted to read this one. It certainly didn't disappoint. I loved the main characters and was so happy to also get a happy ending for Raife! What a great read.
This was an enjoyable story. It was a good continuation of the series and I liked the characters.
Kirstin is a wolver (a wolf shifter) and the healer for her pack. Kirstin and her pack are located in Scotland and most people fear the wolvers. The pack has a pact with the King that should keep them safe but things that took place in book #1 made that unsure.
Donal is the new head of the clan MacFalon. He's actually was the younger brother of the previous head of the clan and took it over when his brother was killed (in book #1). Donal is a good man and clan leader who supports the wolvers and the pact that keeps them safe.
When the story begins, Raife (the hero from book #1), his brother, Darrow, and their mates are staying at the castle of the MacFalon clan. They are still there because Darrow was seriously injured and couldn't travel. Since Kirstin is the healer of their pack, she travels to the castle to help tend to Darrow. She ends up in a net trap and Donal finds her and releases her. There's an immediate attraction between them and they know it would be difficult to be together but they can't help what they feel and the need to bet together. Basically, they have to deal with the issues between them as well as a betrayal that could take down the whole wolver pack. Kirstin and Donal work things out on all fronts and end the story starting a HEA together.
This was an enjoyable story. Kirstin and Donal are both likable characters and worked well together. I'm not sure why I didn't like this story more...it was good but it just seemed to lack a little something that kept me from getting engaged the story. Overall, the story was good but just didn't grab me.
Highland Wolf Pact Compromising Positions (Highland Wolf Pact #2) by Selena Kitt Scottish clan Laird Donal MacFalon falls for Wulver, Kirstin, when she travels to his land to help her injured pack mate. However, King Henry VII has arranged a marriage between him and another.
I really like Donal. He is the complete opposite of his deceased brother, Alistair, from book one. He appreciates the Wulvers and is a thoughtful leader.
Kirstin is a brave and sweet character. She risks her life to travel on her own to help her Alpha’s brother. She does what she feels is the right thing and has a big heart.
I love the historic aspect of the novel. It takes place in Scotland during the reign of England's King Henry VII and the Tudors. I have always found that time period fascinating.
The plot was well-thought-out and rich with detail. It had a little of everything: romance, history, magic, deceit, politics, and cultural differences. The story was unique and exciting.
Selena Kitt does a fantastic job with her descriptions, plot, and character development. If you enjoy historical fiction with paranormal aspects, this series is a must read. I’m looking forward to Griffith’s story in Highland Wolf Pact Blood Reign (Highland Wolf Pact #3).
Complimentary copy provided by author in exchange for an honest review.
I really liked the first book of this series, but this one seemed to lack the intensity. It was ok, but nothing overly memorable for me personally. I guess it was because of the strong insta-love vibe. I get that they were "mates" but I still wanted a little more between the hero and heroines connection. They spent very little time getting to know one another aside from having sex. Anyways, I just didn’t get a good grasp of their relationship. Also, another deal breaker for me was that Raife and Sybil were at odds in this book. He was ignoring her for unrealistic reasons and continued to avoid her until around the 60% mark of this book. It was exhausting. Overall, this was just an ok read for me. I doubt I will continue the rest of this series.
I loved the first book in this series by Selena Kitt, but she topped the previous in this sequel. I was especially happy that the storyline of the first books couple ( which I love ) was entwined within the new couples even more intriguing story. Hope there's more to come from this series.
Loved the second book in this series!!! Kristin was a great heroine and Donal was a hot alpha male who held his own with the Wulver pack Alpha and his brother. There was some super steamy scenes between Kristin and Donal. I loved the side story about Raife being angry with Sybil because she left to marry Allistair in order to save the pack. It was funny and heart-wrenching.
I received this ARC for an honest review. I love Selena Kitt! I can't get enough of her!
This book picks up at the end of Sybil and Raife's story. Kirstin is on her way to Castle MacFalon to help Darrow heal from his battle wounds because she is the pack's healer. She comes across Donal, but she's spooked and runs into a trap. Donal rescues her and it's love at first sight. He takes her back to his castle after an encounter dubious people who just happen to work for King Henry VII. Kirstin senses something is off with them, but doesn't say anything. Fast forward to the castle, and Raife is still furious with Sibyl for leaving. Kirstin tries to play matchmaker, but encounters difficulties. She sacrifices her feelings for the good of the pack. She's attacked by nefarious characters, but manages to escape. Sybil is still trying to find a cure for the she-wulvers and Kirstin is instrumental in scene. Needless to say, there is much action, deception, hot sex scenes (it wouldn't be a Selena Kitt book if there weren't), love and passion.
What will happen? Will Kirstin and Donal get their HEA? Will Sybil and Raife reunite? What of the cure from the curse?
This was a quick and enjoyable second book in the Highland Wolf Pack Series. Again, two of my favourites, Scottish Highlanders and shapeshifters, so I knew I couldn't wrong!
This is the story of Kirstin, a female wulver and Donal MacFalon, the new Scottish Laird of the MacFalon Clan. They have to overcome suspicion and prejudice from the people who surround them, but they both know they have met 'the one' almost immediately after they first meet. Also, in this book we get lots of Raife and Sibyl which is great since their relationship was kinda left hanging at the end of the other book. Raife and Sibyl are going through some tough times and you just want to shake Raife.
Another fun and enjoyable story full of suspense, action and romance! Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received this book as a ARC for a honest review. After reading Book one of this series, how could i not read book two. Which was fantastic. Both book 1 & 2 were amazing. Thanks for this honour.
Doral is doing anything he can to save the wolf pack and bring peace between the two. Kristen is a Wulver that what's thing she knows she can't have but doesn't stop her heart from wanting it. Will Doral and Kristen get what they are after or will this be a battle they both loose.
I loved this book even tho it's not my normal kind of book but I couldn't stop once I started. Selena is a fantastic author and I try to read all her stuff no matter what its about. yes she is that good. thanks again for this honour.
After reading the first book in this series, I knew I was hooked. Donal is so loveable and honorable to everyone he meets. Kirsten is not sure what she wants other than to make sure her pack is healthy and safe. When Donal and Kirsten meet things start to get heated between them, even while things are going not so right around them. They know what their hearts want, but Kirsten isn't so sure what she should do. Selena Kitt is a kick ass writer and she didn't disappoint with this second book in the series. I can't wait to get more of what's to come in the next book.
And Arc REVIEW Donal is helping to protect the wolf pact . but the king has other ideas as mentioned in prior book He is Raides father and the one who supposedly wants peace or does he . and whAt role does Kristin play . and will Sibyl and Raife come back together due to her trying to save him and his ken . or forgive her before its too late . what of a book that is reveal and can they find the cure of the wulvers . find this and more when you buy , read and review . can't wait til book 3 next month comes out around my birthday .
After reading the first book (and enjoying it) I was excited to see what Selena Kitt had in store next. She did not disappoint! This book picks up where the first book ended and you still follow the couple from the first book while being introduced to Donal and Kirstin. I was surprised by the amount of drama and intrigue in this book. It is not simply about shifters but more about legend. I can't wait for the third book in the series!
I've been waiting to read this story ever since I read book one. If you like to read about highland romance & shifters than you want to read this terrific story. I was hooked from page one & throughly enjoyed the story
I liked this book but none of the reviews I've seen have pointed out the inaccuracies between the two books. The epilogue from book 1's version of Kristin and Donal's courtship is nowhere near what actually happened in this book.
I could understand "insta-love" happening between two wulvers, but a wulver and a human? Would that even make sense considering there's no proof that humans even have (soul) mates?
Why would Kirsten think it strange Donal wasn’t scared of her when she should have known that he’d encountered wulvers before?
WTH? Book 1 ended with everyone having a happily ever after and Sybil and Rafe having a son. So why does book 2 have him angry at her and no son, ie going back in time? I detest major backtracking like this. I’m guessing the author wasn’t sure if there would be a book 2. Either way, work with what you have. More on that later.
Donal talked about remembering being at his mother’s breast and then essentially “checked out” Kirsten's boobs? Gross. I wouldn’t have been blushing.
When Kirsten turned into a wulver after having sex with Donal, why were his men going against his wishes? Why wouldn’t they let her go? Why did they want to collar and chain her when she could have just gone back outside and done whatever she typically did while in wulver form?
When Kirsten was in the woods in wulver form listening to Lord Eldrid and his men talking, he said that wulver women could turn back into a wulver at will. Why would he say that when it wasn’t true?
After Kirsten took the cure, Donal wanted to know how she knew it had worked. Her response: She could try to change. Huh? Females couldn’t change at will. That was the whole point as to why Lena was trying to find a cure in book 1 and why she was unhappy throughout book 2 when she couldn’t communicate with her pack while in wulver form.
Okay, that mention above about “more on that later…” Did I say I didn’t like backtracking? Yes. Well, this next part goes along with the beginning of book 3 that I just couldn’t. Instead of allowing the reader to experience Griff, Rafe and Sybil’s son growing up, realizing he was special, etc., the author jumped years ahead so that Griff was already an adult. This would have been fine if instead, she would have had him growing up with a memorable experience and then jumping a few years ahead to get a better feel for him. Otherwise, I couldn’t get into it.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book was so repetitive I just got annoyed and couldn't enjoy it at all.
How many times does the reader have to be told the females can only shift when they are in heat - and thus are at the whim of their moon-cycle? I get it - it sucks to be a female with a period that you have no control over.
Then the beginning the book covered the same story line as the epilogue of the last book, so it was like reading parts of the same story all over again. At least that only lasted a few chapters.
I just wasn't invested in this book.. knowing there was a third after this I knew it would have to end well, it was just a matter of how. I felt the book was more about the politics and finding a cure than a love story. It also added some weird magic / fantasy in the form of a witch that used blood to control things. It just seemed that the author added it because she could - not because it made the story better.
I'm done... I don't care about the prophecy that's been hinted at in both books now. I'm not willing to read book #3.
This was a very interesting story! This story was almost like a whole different series compared to the first one. Still able to keep me hanging on every word, still able to allow my mind to envision the story as I read everything unfold, still happy with all of the twists and turns. I cannot wait to see what the last chapter in this series is about!!
This is another win for this author. The set is so magnificent, magical with supernatural beings. The storyline, the dialogue flows with insight and a few giggles. I love the set. I most definitely recommend it. Bravo Selena.
Love knowing no bounds. Donal's relentless love for Kirstin is a sample of true love and a werewolf's instinct to mate for life. Their story was intense and opened the window of their ancestry.
A FABULOUSLY ENTERTAINING READ !!! Wow! I love it! After reading the first two books in Selena Kitt's Scottish Werewolf Shifter Romance Series, I now have this overwhelming desire to travel to Scotland! I have always loved both paranormal and historical romance but when you combine the two and factor in that it's written by Selena Kitt, well, you have utter perfection. Kitt has totally knocked it out of the park with her newest release in the series, Highland Wolf Pact Compromising Positions. The story is riveting, exciting, action-packed, original, imaginative, well developed, humorous, heartbreaking, heartwarming, sweet, romantic, sensual and arousing. And did I say hot and dreamy? Oh yes! Very hot and very dreamy! Sigh.... These are only a few of the words that come to mind after reading this story. The dialogue is smart, authentic, exceptionally well written and flows effortlessly, so much so, it's almost lyrical. I was totally mesmerized. And the characters, well, let's just say they are the heart and the soul of the story. They are fascinating, captivating, engaging, endearing and sexy as sin! Oh my! They grab your attention, capture your heart and hold you prisoner from beginning to end. Kitt skillfully combines these elements into a delightfully entertaining paranormal/historical romance filled to the brim with action, suspense, adventure, heartbreak and sweet romance. If you love reading sexy paranormal romance and enchanting historical love stories, then this is definitely the book for you. Although we are first introduced to most of the characters in the first book of the series, I believe this book can be read as a standalone novel. It has no cliffhangers to speak of and comes complete with its very own happily ever after ending and it even includes a perfect opportunity for another wonderful story in the future. However, having said that, I would highly recommend reading the first book, Highland Wolf Pact, to enrich your reading experience. You will never regret it! If you've read the blurb, you already know what the story is about, so I won't include any spoilers but I will say this.....Handsome, loyal, true-hearted Scottish Laird, Donal MacFalon of the MacFalon clan who must take an English bride in order to prevent war, protect his clan, retain his land and remain the Warden of Middle March -check! Beautiful wulver woman, Kirstin, a healer for her clan who falls prey to a dangerous trap, is rescued by the MacFalon and finally finds her one true mate-check! Handsome, stubborn wulver king, Raife who refuses to see reason-check! Beautiful, brave English lady, Sibyl Blackthorne who was promised in marriage to a Scottish Laird by King Henry VII but fell in love with the Wulver King-check! Danger, drama, action, suspense, betrayal, werewolves, witches and an evil Lord who plots to use the Wulvers to overthrow the king-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion, heartbreaking angst, sweet romance and some steamy dreamy sexy-you bet! And a once in a lifetime love so strong, it can survive against all odds-check! That and a whole lot more! I laughed! I cried! I couldn't get enough! I loved it! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! Seriously Sexy, Completely Compelling and Definitely Entertaining! My final verdict: FIVE WELL EARNED STARS !!! Complimentary copy received in exchange for an honest review.

If you've read my reviews so far, you will know that I am not a huge reader of paranormal or historical romances. My usual go to read is a contemporary story. But I am always up for a great book, no matter the genre. And the Highland Wolf Pact series is exactly that. I was so hooked up with the characters after reading the first book telling Sybil and Raife's story that I simply couldn't wait to find out what will happen with Donal and Kirsten and their in a way forbidden love. So of course when I got the chance to read an ARC of Compromising Positions, I jumped at it :) And let me tell you, I was definitely not disappointed. The story is fast paced, intriguing and captivating. It catches you from the first sentence and it doesn't leave you to rest until you read the last word. The characters are quite interesting and well developed and the writing is pretty good. Just keep in mind that there is some pretty tough Scottish accent that can make you stumble in your reading a time or two ;)
Donal is quite an interesting character. In a way he is different than the wolvers, which considering that he is pure human is quite understandable. He is more reasonable at time and at least in my opinion has the penchant to first thing with his head (the upper one) most of the time before doing something based on his feelings. But similarly to the wolvers he is honorable and ready to do everything he can to protect his loved ones, and especially his one true mate. His feelings run pretty deep and I think that aspect he is the same as the wolvers :) It doesn't hurt that he is also pantie melting hot and in the bedroom he can simply burn the sheets with his dirty talking and skills :)
Kirsten is Donal's perfect other half. They simply complement each other. She is also strong and loyal and has a heart of gold. The healer in her shows her compassionate side but let me assure you that that doesn't make her weak. If anything, I think it makes her even stronger. And you can clearly see that from the first few pages in the book when she stands against her leader Raife defending his mate (or if you've met her in the first book in the series). She is definitely ready to stand beside Donal no matter the circumstances because he is the one man she's been waiting her whole life for. And it definitely doesn't hurt that the chemistry between them is simply of the charts and I can assure you that it will melt your panties on more than one occasion :D
So if I have to summarize my impressions of this book in a few words, I would simply say that I loved it :) If you are into some pretty hot paranormal stories, than this is simply a must read. And even if you are not a big fan, I would still recommend the books because the love story behind the paranormal part is simply heartbreaking and captivating. In addition the writing is quite good with well developed characters and quite an interesting story line. The love story is intertwined with some suspenseful and dangerous notes that just makes the book that much more of a page turner :) So simply get your one click finger clicking and start reading :) I am pretty sure you won't be disappointed :) Me, personally, I can't wait for the next book to in the series to come out :)
This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review.
This takes place just after the last book, Highland Wolf Pact. Raife's brother is injured and so Kirsten manages to convince the other Wulvers to let her come to MacFalon land so she can nurse him back to health, her being a healer and all. But she spends precious little time doing that after she encounters Donal MacFalon, who she senses is her true mate. But the king informs him he's to be married (even though he doesn't want anyone but Kirsten) and she's hesitant since she can't have his children (unless he has sex with her while she's a wolf). And then there's some dude and a witch trying to kill all the wulvers despite the pact and what not.
So, this was a pretty decent little story. Decidedly shorter than the first installment and also a bit more erotica than the last one as well. I was continuously irritated by the use of dialect. I understand shortening "to" into "t'" as in "They went t'bed." but I don't really get shortening "the" to "t" as in "They like t'food." Especially when alternately "the" is shortened to "da." Consistency. It was just all pretty much irritating to read. I'd rather imagine the dialect than have it handed to me if everyone is going to be speaking like this.
I like the uniqueness of the "Wulver" situation. It's a neat world. And at last, some things were explained in this installment that really needed to be explained in the first one (like the difference between moon blood and estrus, the frequency of both and whether or not mating is just having sex or sensing one's true mate - and it's the latter if you're curious). It was a bit disconcerting to find myself FAR more interested in Sibyl and Raife's problems at the beginning than in Kirsten and Donal's romance. But once they worked things out I was properly engaged with the correct characters. Until our supposedly intelligent heroine does some things that really does qualify as TSTL.

Compromising Positions is the second book in the Highland Wolf Pact trilogy, this story takes off around the ending of book one “Highland Wolf Pact” where the Alpha’s brother is injured. Kirsten is one of the few pack healers among the wolf pack, and so she heads down into unknown territory to offer her services since she knows they are desperately needed. But she finds herself caught in a trap while in Wolven form. But then she is shocked when a Highlander helps her escape….a man she doesn’t trust the newest Laird of MacFalon. She finds herself trusting this new laird….a man of honor, unlike his brother who was full of deceit and cruelty. As Kirsten and Donal learn to develop a relationship of desire and affection, and just when they are about to announce their engagement….they learn that the King is demanding a marriage between Donal and a Englishwoman. But there is also a hidden danger to the Wolvers, and it will take them working together along with Donal and the men he trusts the most to defeat the evil that wishes to destroy them all.
This was such a wonderful story and although it was a bit different from book one, I enjoyed it in different ways. I did think that this story was way more INTENSE in the plot line than Highland Wolf Pact was. At first there are so many good feels. We see such a strong bond that forms between Donal and Kirsten. I loved seeing them embrace the feelings they have for each other. The conflict comes with Kirsten coming into her time as a wolver (which as a woman and finding her mate in Donal, she has no choice to change between human and wolf form) and that there is an enemy that has lied to them, and seeks to destroy the Wolvers. We see some hints of magic and evil witchcraft that comes into play here.
What has also impressed me with this story too and this author was the historical context. The author has done such a great job with the details almost as much as you would find in authors that write historical fiction. I loved the sharing of customs, historical facts and details that make the surroundings come alive. The plot thickens with each chapter and you never know what will happen next or if they will find a way out of the bind they find themselves in including defeating an enemy they don’t see coming and one they aren’t prepared for. I really had a blast with this story that kept me on my toes with thrills and delights and shivers down the spine!!
