I was so excited for this second book to come out. And that first chapter had me sat! I was so excited to see where this was going to go and what all was going to happen to Nikolai and Zhenya.
However I was sad to see his alter- Fyodor -disappear so quickly. I was expecting him to be around a lot longer than he was. And how Niko came back was also not as crazy as they were making it out to be. I thought this whole book was going to be about having his alter realize and be able to trust that Zhenya was a safe place for him and that he could trust Niko with him. But that wasn’t it. It was just the blood again.
And everything with Mikhail ended so quickly and suddenly it wasn’t really all that satisfying. Fyodor should’ve been the one to end him or Niko at least for killing his grandmother but instead it was a quick end by Zhenya. And Inessa?? Her just getting to dip out with no answers is insane to me.
The book had everything and nothing resolved by the end. There were a lot of loose ends that I think should’ve been more clearly answered instead of just things hinted at. That’s not to say that I don’t love these two because I do. I loved seeing Zhenya be willing to give up everything for Niko. But this felt too rushed and there was so much more that could’ve been done if taken the time. I loved their relationship in the first book but there was honestly nothing I felt in this one until the hospital scene and that just wasn’t enough for me.

never been more disappointed
The first book ended so well… I had to much hope for whatever this book was. They just kept letting the bad guy get away with things. He literally killed the grandma and the only thing he’s doing is playing board room politics. The killings of the evil brother isn’t even satisfying since it hadn’t so fast. What was the point of the DID if the alternative just left. The alternative automatically going back after hearing about the grandma’s funeral was just annoying because you’re supposed to be smarter than the host but you walk right back into the house after a week … what a waste of time. And letting the girl live was also annoying… like what was even her purpose? She didn’t do anything… I’m so annoyed that I even liked the first book. If this wasn’t written by AI I’d be shocked but I’m sure even AI could do better

I don't know if I'm just a simple bitch BUT I loved how this wrapped up! Short, to the point, & extremely sweet and gentle. Although I didn't care about the other POVs that we got, I really loved how Fyodor wasn't an asshole, he was truly just protecting Nikolai.

Conditions and Consequences Book 2) by Lara Yun
I have to admit, I started Terms and Consequences with some hesitation because I had never read Book 1. I wondered whether jumping into the second book would make it difficult for me to connect with the characters or understand what was happening. But somehow, Lara Yun pulled me into the story, and before I knew it, I was completely invested.
Zhenya and Nikolai were the heart of this book for me.
What I found especially fascinating was Nikolai and the two sides of his personality. There was the vulnerable Nikolaithe part of him that felt deeply human, exposed, and in need of protection. And then there was the other side: the protector. Deadly, intense, and almost frightening in the way he could take control when it mattered.
I loved the contrast between those two sides of him. It made Nikolai feel much more complicated than a simple character who is either strong or vulnerable. There were moments when I understood why he needed someone to protect him, and other moments when he became the person you absolutely did not want to stand against.
And then there was Zhenya.
Zhenya being the protector and the dominant one added another layer to their relationship that I really enjoyed. I loved that their dynamic wasn't simply about one person always being strong and the other always being vulnerable. They both had strength, but they expressed it differently. Zhenya's protective nature gave their relationship a sense of security, while Nikolai's different sides brought vulnerability, danger, and unpredictability.
There was something beautiful about watching these two men find their way toward each other despite everything they carried individually. Their relationship felt complicated, intense, and emotional, but that was exactly what made it memorable for me.
And honestly, while reading, I kept thinking about Book 1. I haven't read it yet, but if Book 2 already made me feel this much, I'm almost scared to find out what Book 1 will do to me. 😂 I have a feeling I would cry, and probably understand these characters on an even deeper level.
Lara Yun's writing really made me feel like a lot of thought and emotion had been poured into these characters. Their personalities weren't flat, and their relationship wasn't something I could simply read and forget. I found myself thinking about their emotions, their choices, and the different sides of who they were even after putting the book down.
I started this book skeptical because I hadn't read the first one, but I ended it genuinely glad that I gave it a chance.
Zhenya and Nikolai stayed with me, and that, to me, is one of the best things a story can accomplish.
Now I just need to decide whether I'm emotionally prepared to go back and read Book 1. ❤️

Somehow...I'm a little bit disapointed.
I finished the 1st book in one sitting 4 days ago, 5 stars easily. But the second one felt rushed on a lot of aspects. Without revealing the plot twists, I felt like everything ended way too easily for the Romanov empire. It's a HEA for the couple and I felt that the author concentrated on that (meaning the rest of the characters were forgotten). I kinda feel bitter about Pavel, THE best friend who got pretty much the short end of the stick and when things got rough and all, he was discarded and forgotten as a character (just an example).
The spicy scene was also kinda rushed in my opinion : I really loved how it started with the emotional aspect, but when things got physical, it kinda got, again, rushed. Zhenya who NEVER had experience with men could perfectly perform for his first time without making any research at all? And is it me or did the author forgot to say that Zhenya forgot to take Nico's pants off? Because they visibly magically vanished during the act (that is one of the things that kept me from properly enjoying the story : it's a small detail, but when a lot of them are missing through the story, it start to bother).
Overall it was a good read, but after the first who set the tone, I had high hopes for the second one and in my opinion it was a bit of a let down.

I'm a bit disappointed with this one. I read the first book around a month ago, but I have the memory of a goldfish, so I can't say I remember everything that happened. However, I do remember looking forward to seeing Zhenya grovel and win Niko back. That did not happen. As soon as Niko came back, he just forgave him. Actually, I wouldn't even say he forgave him because they never really talked about everything in depth.
In the first book, Niko had more of a backbone and would talk back to Zhenya's family members. I was keen to see more of that in this book, but he seemed to shrink into himself instead.
What was the point of Fyodor? He just disappeared. His character wasn't really explored, and the DID element felt quite shallow.
Everything felt so rushed and not very well thought out. This book had so much potential, but it really lacked depth. Things were resolved way too easily, and some of the characters I liked from the first book were barely even in this one.
Alexei? Pavel? The mother? Where were they?

Okay, I agree with most of the other reviews about enjoying the first book more. I love a billionare/ mafia adjacent MMC, like a man with MONEY who's hot forcing me to marry him? Sign me up 🙋♀️ I just... never felt the connection between Zhenya and Nikolai. I definitely think Nikolai felt it, but Zhenya? I didn't feel it from him, even though we get that protective, touch him and 💀 trope, I just didn't feel like he actually loved Nikolai. Like the first time he met him, in book one, he knew Nikolai was drugged, so he not only LEFT HIM ALONE IN A BATHROOM, but he pushed him so hard he got a concussion? Like I beg your finest pardon, but wtf? Thats so unnecessarily violent. And then he gets mad when someone else helps Nikolai out and takes him to a safe location. My brother in Christ, he saved your fiancee show him some respect 💁♀️ It was just a hard way to start the series and I never really like Zhenya after that 🤷♀️

My Heart
I don't have very many words to express at the moment, Zhenya and Nikolai's story has had me in a chokehold. To deal with so much and yet still find each other, is just such a journey and beautiful to witness.
The authors word felt like I myself was in the story and those are the types of adventures I love the most.
Lara, thank you for taking us on this journey with Niko and Zhen, they are both tragically brilliant characters and I look forward to seeing what's next in your stories.
☀️ Grumpy / Cautious Sunshine
🔫 Mafia Romance
🫂 Dual POV
🩸 Blood
🧠 Psychological Disorder (DID)
A story of pain, mental and physical abuse, heartbreaking loss for the MC's too. Yet, after two books, this ended with such clarity and beauty that you know it was worth it. A++

worth the wait
I had found terms and conditions on a whim and got hooked, only to find out that it was weeks away from getting the sequel released. I was heart broken, grieving, and telling anyone who would listen that I need this book. I even told the author on tiktok I needed this book. It came out today and having just finished it my heart is happy. Zhenya was such a funny character especially in this book and his love and devotion to Niko is truly beautiful. It was an amazing read and a very lovely ending. If there’s more I’m not sure but if there isn’t I’m happy with how it was.

4⭐️0.25🌶
I loved this conclusion to Nikolia and Zhenya's romance but I needed a little more from this novel. I didn't find the writing as polished as the first novel and as a slut for smut I needed a bit more spice to tie it all together for me, I also wanted to see more of Nikolai's alternative personality being a complete badass- I felt a little robbed only getting one chapter where he is in full gangster mode. That being said the emotional aspects hit well, Zhenya's character developement was good and I ended the novel with a warm cozy feeling over their ending.

Everybody’s giving this and the first books such bad reviews, and I get it, but I still enjoyed and read both books very quickly. Yes, there were a ton of issues. Grammar and punctuation errors, timeline pacing issues, plot was kind of a mess, honestly just a heap of issues, which is why I gotta give it 3 stars. But I did enjoy these books, but I know it’s not going to be for everybody. I would probably normally DNF this - but I just finished an emotionally intense book that ruined me on such a profound level that I think these were the easy hurt/comforts that my soul needed desperately 😂

i feel like this could have easily been one longer book rather than two short ones but I’m overall happy with how the story ended. there were a couple plot things that didn’t really get addressed or felt a little unnecessary to begin with. Nikolai never really addresses Fyodor at all. the whole Inessa thing just got kind of dropped somewhere?
while i can’t say it was the best quality of book out there i can certainly say i was entertained. very fond of Nikolai and esp his relationship with Olga 🫶🏻

"Just get Pavel back first. Then tell Zhenya everything."
This is the dumbest part of the book.Nikolai knows that Zhenya has many enemies and that Mikhail is gunning for him.
He gets a scary video of Pavel being held hostage and doesnt think that MAYBE calling his super scary and effective partner in on his plans would be more effective.
Nicolai really thinks that he's gonna stroll in there collect Pavel from the dangerous KIDNAPPERS and walk out back to Zhenya.

excellent story but…
I really did enjoy this book but I just felt it lack a few aspects and the jumping to different POV I had to keep going back to check who it was. I did enjoy the theme and story line.

Superb
I absolutely loved both of the books and am hoping more will come. To see them return to Moscow and what comes next! This is definitely worth reading repeatedly 😉
