The first book ended so well… I had to much hope for whatever this book was. They just kept letting the bad guy get away with things. He literally killed the grandma and the only thing he’s doing is playing board room politics. The killings of the evil brother isn’t even satisfying since it hadn’t so fast. What was the point of the DID if the alternative just left. The alternative automatically going back after hearing about the grandma’s funeral was just annoying because you’re supposed to be smarter than the host but you walk right back into the house after a week … what a waste of time. And letting the girl live was also annoying… like what was even her purpose? She didn’t do anything… I’m so annoyed that I even liked the first book. If this wasn’t written by AI I’d be shocked but I’m sure even AI could do better
I was so excited for this second book to come out. And that first chapter had me sat! I was so excited to see where this was going to go and what all was going to happen to Nikolai and Zhenya.
However I was sad to see his alter- Fyodor -disappear so quickly. I was expecting him to be around a lot longer than he was. And how Niko came back was also not as crazy as they were making it out to be. I thought this whole book was going to be about having his alter realize and be able to trust that Zhenya was a safe place for him and that he could trust Niko with him. But that wasn’t it. It was just the blood again.
And everything with Mikhail ended so quickly and suddenly it wasn’t really all that satisfying. Fyodor should’ve been the one to end him or Niko at least for killing his grandmother but instead it was a quick end by Zhenya. And Inessa?? Her just getting to dip out with no answers is insane to me.
The book had everything and nothing resolved by the end. There were a lot of loose ends that I think should’ve been more clearly answered instead of just things hinted at. That’s not to say that I don’t love these two because I do. I loved seeing Zhenya be willing to give up everything for Niko. But this felt too rushed and there was so much more that could’ve been done if taken the time. I loved their relationship in the first book but there was honestly nothing I felt in this one until the hospital scene and that just wasn’t enough for me.

I finished the 1st book in one sitting 4 days ago, 5 stars easily. But the second one felt rushed on a lot of aspects. Without revealing the plot twists, I felt like everything ended way too easily for the Romanov empire. It's a HEA for the couple and I felt that the author concentrated on that (meaning the rest of the characters were forgotten). I kinda feel bitter about Pavel, THE best friend who got pretty much the short end of the stick and when things got rough and all, he was discarded and forgotten as a character (just an example).
The spicy scene was also kinda rushed in my opinion : I really loved how it started with the emotional aspect, but when things got physical, it kinda got, again, rushed. Zhenya who NEVER had experience with men could perfectly perform for his first time without making any research at all? And is it me or did the author forgot to say that Zhenya forgot to take Nico's pants off? Because they visibly magically vanished during the act (that is one of the things that kept me from properly enjoying the story : it's a small detail, but when a lot of them are missing through the story, it start to bother).
Overall it was a good read, but after the first who set the tone, I had high hopes for the second one and in my opinion it was a bit of a let down.
I had found terms and conditions on a whim and got hooked, only to find out that it was weeks away from getting the sequel released. I was heart broken, grieving, and telling anyone who would listen that I need this book. I even told the author on tiktok I needed this book. It came out today and having just finished it my heart is happy. Zhenya was such a funny character especially in this book and his love and devotion to Niko is truly beautiful. It was an amazing read and a very lovely ending. If there’s more I’m not sure but if there isn’t I’m happy with how it was.
I loved this conclusion to Nikolia and Zhenya's romance but I needed a little more from this novel. I didn't find the writing as polished as the first novel and as a slut for smut I needed a bit more spice to tie it all together for me, I also wanted to see more of Nikolai's alternative personality being a complete badass- I felt a little robbed only getting one chapter where he is in full gangster mode. That being said the emotional aspects hit well, Zhenya's character developement was good and I ended the novel with a warm cozy feeling over their ending.

I don't know if I'm just a simple bitch BUT I loved how this wrapped up! Short, to the point, & extremely sweet and gentle. Although I didn't care about the other POVs that we got, I really loved how Fyodor wasn't an asshole, he was truly just protecting Nikolai.
