4 Working out the Truths Stars * * * *

Samantha Chase continues her Montgomery Brothers series with a tale of how two people can be the victims of misinformation and learn to open their hearts no matter how painful it can be.

We have James Montgomery who chaffed at being directed how to live his life and be another part of the family firm. He fought the strong domineering ways of his family and left to live a plainer life. Always good with his hands and a keen awareness for plants... he worked his way up to be a landscaper by 20...a little dirt never bothered him. The kids around the small town he was in had no idea he was part of the Montgomery clan... they just thought he was that sort of bad boy....and that was how Selena met him.

Selena was that young fresh senior high beauty he saw everyday. One day they both end up talking and just like that... they became a couple... she running and meeting up with him whenever she could. This develops into the sweet love of the young... planning to marry, to be together and live a wonderful life. But things never go as planned and both are torn apart... both seriously heartbroken from it and both not being able to let it go... even after 10 years have passed.

Now they are different people then those young fresh lovers... now James is with the police force and Selina is an event planner. Both successful in their careers... both crappy in their love lives. Selena's best friend reaches out to her under the need for the 10 year High School reunion. Mysterious funds have been given... and the event can take place after all.

Selena gives in and travels out to where she knows she will end up seeing James. Both have to steel themselves for the meeting and we know this will not be easy.

What happens next is something no one planned on... Her best friend Jen seems to have an ex boyfriend stalker... and he is breaking into her house where Selena is staying. James is called out to check on the situation and right away Selena and James have this resurrected passion brewing under the surface. This spark continues until both of them will either kill each other or come together. It is the talking and clearing the air of their past which must take place... this is the hurdle and both know it must be done.

I zoomed through reading this book. The story was layered with the lies of the past told to each of them by different people... people who stepped in to make what they wanted happen...It was not an easy road for these two but I appreciated the realism. I also liked the thriller aspect, too. It wasn't over the top but it gave the read a little more weight.

If you like tales about families, lost loves and second chances then this is definitely a winner for you.

This romance novel is a fun page turner that I couldn't put down! Return to You follows James Mongomery and Selena Ainsley as they slowly reconnect with each other. The two have a dramatic past that is slowly revealed throughout the novel, instead of most novels where it is all delivered up front. This wonderful idea by Samantha Chase gives the novel a little extra boost in making the novel more interesting. As a reader, it made me want to continue reading and discovering what happened to James and Selena in their past as it is explained and revealed chapter by chapter.

The novel focuses on the present day and how James and Selena learn about how their view of events is very different from each other. Their relationship and circumstances seem very realistic, and well thought out. I didn't see any of the characters being over exaggerated or boring. The characters are an amazing aspect of the novel!

The plot line is also intriguing, but could have used a bit more action or drama. I found the plot line to be very predictable and obvious as the novel went on, and even made some of the chapters slow and boring. Once I was past those chapters, I became instantly interested in it again.

Overall, I felt like a little more action and drama could have been added, but it was a good quality book. The novel moved smoothly and kept me interested!

Four out of five stars!

How often can you pick up a contemporary romance and discover that someone is playing matchmaker and it isn’t the grandmother or the aunt or the best friend? Get ready to watch Uncle William as he goes into action once again as the family matchmaker, because being rich and part of a huge corporation must not be nearly as much fun! Welcome to the warm and fuzzy world created by Samantha Chase! Return to You is one of those romance tales that make your knees like jelly, makes your heart skip a beat and leaves you smiling at least half the time!

Selena Ainsley and James Montgomery were head over heels in love, but that was ten long and painful years and one nightmarish night ago. Now they are face to face, once again when it’s high school reunion time and Selena has been given cart blanche by a mysterious benefactor to do the event up right. Having to face the memories of a love lost is not on her bucket list, but James still gets to her an she still brings him to his knees with love. An accident and an over-protective father end their relationship in one swoop with his deceit and ruthless behavior. Neither James nor Selena knew the truth of that night and moved on, damaged, lost and broken-hearted. Selena was from money and James had none, did it really matter to them? When the chance to finally clear the air comes, there is too much pain and too many secrets still between them to fully trust each other, but the love never died. Perhaps the meddling of the Montgomery family “fairy godmother” is needed to set things right, but will he get the chance after plan A failed? Who knows, maybe he has a plan B and C in the wings!

Looking for a sweet romantic tale that feels as warm as melted chocolate with a hint of spice? Love to watch the spark of love re-ignite? Love that feeling of watching two people fumble through the twisted maze of their own making? How about great dialogue or eye-opening epiphanies? Samantha Chase gives it all to us here in Return to You and she does it with words that will make you laugh, cry and roll your eyes, one page at a time. Of course we have to wonder who the next “victim” of Uncle William’s own cupid’s arrow will be! Take this to the beach, let people wonder why you are smirking!

*I haven't previously read any of the other books in this series.
This is my favorite kind of story, a second chance romance and my first read by this author.
I really enjoyed the story, even though I was really frustrated and confused about how James handled things the first time he and Selena were in a relationship, or at least the ending of it. However, I think that he definitely made up for his previous behavior with his tenacity and dedication to winning Selena back.
Their 10 year separation could have been prevented if it weren't for a terrible misunderstanding and the fact that both James and Selena were young and naive. I could see some readers being upset with this plot, but I enjoyed it a lot. The writing alone made this worth it for me.
I've added the previous Montgomery Brothers books to my TBR and can't wait to see what I've been missing out on.

3.5 stars.

A matchmaking uncle, a concerned brother and a well intentioned friend conspire to reunite former high school sweethearts in Return to You by Samantha Chase. Set against the backdrop of a high school reunion, this second chance at love romance has plenty of drama and sizzling hot chemistry. Although it is the fourth installment in The Montgomery Brothers series, it can be read as a standalone story.

Selena Ainsley and James Montgomery have not seen each other since their inexplicable break up ten years earlier. While Selena was recovering from a traumatic accident, James vanished without explanation, leaving her completely devastated. Nursing a broken heart, Selena left town and never returned. Now a successful event planner, Selena's good friend Jen convinces her to organize their ten year high school reunion. What Selena does not know is that Jen, along with James's brother and uncle, have concocted a scheme to reunite Selena and James. The sparks fly between the couple but it soon becomes obvious that anger from their unresolved past burns just as hot as their mutual desire.

James and Selena's first couple of encounters are extremely antagonistic. Both are still extremely angry over how their romance ended ten years ago, but there is still plenty of passion simmering between them too. James is a little hotheaded, acts without thinking and he kisses her senseless before they have the opportunity to discuss what went wrong between them. Selena is just as impulsive and they quickly jump back into a physical relationship. They do eventually discuss their break up but their reconciliation is uneasy and plagued with trust issues. They gloss over their problems and embark on an affair but it does not take much to break the fragile truce between them. Their relationship wildly veers between the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows as misunderstandings, snap judgments, miscommunication and rash decisions threaten to tear them apart.

Selena and James are frustrating characters. Communication between them is practically none existent so they make impetus, ill-informed decisions before they have their facts straight. With so much anger and the unresolved issues between them, it is very difficult to believe that they can still be in love after a ten year separation. However, there is no denying the scorching hot attraction between them and their sex scenes are very sensual.

Although Selena and James are a little exasperating, the secondary characters are delightful. Jen is a little uneasy about her role in getting Selena and James back together, but her heart is in the right place. She is an excellent sounding board for Selena and she offers some pretty good suggestions (that Selena mostly ignores!). Selena's grandmother is a complete sweetheart and her words of wisdom definitely give Selena food for thought. James begins repairing his distant relationship with his brother when he turns to him for some much needed advice.

Despite a few issues with the lead characters, Return to You is an enjoyable romance. The novel is well-written and the storyline is interesting. The characters are well-developed and likable. Samantha Chase brings the novel to a romantic and very sweet conclusion as Selena and James finally get their much deserved happily ever after. All in all, a nice addition to The Montgomery Brothers series.

Return To You (Montgomery book 4)
Samantha Chase
4 rekindled young love stars

I absolutely adore the Montgomery family, and I believe that I had forgotten this was on my Kindle. That right there is a kick my own ass moment. So jumped in I did. To no surprise, I loved this one as much as the previous stories in this series, but for me this was just a little sweeter than the others. Maybe it was the 2nd chance love thing, I’m not sure but regardless I loved James Montgomery and Selena Ainsley.

If you have read any of the Montgomery series, you will know patriarch , William Montgomery is spending his retirement setting up his children, and now his nephews . He believes all the Montgomery men should be married and have babies, and with his track record he is very good. Now his sights are on James, the black sheep of the family.

Both Selena and James have a troubled past, what was once young forever love, turned as with a terrible car accident and a full of themselves family. Just when 18yr old Selena needed her James the most, he left her devastated and facing the world on her own . Now 10yrs later Selena is returning from her home in North Carolina , where she owns a successful event planning company. Under guilt from best friend Jen, she is forced to head up the committee for their 10yr school reunion, giving in, she heads home for 2 weeks. Although the wounds of her loss are still very real, she sucks it up and arranges the best reunion ever. What she didn’t expect was seeing James Montgomery, working as a police officer back in her home town.

For James , although he comes from a very affluent family, he has always wanted to do e everything himself, and now as a police officer he is still as pig-headed as ever. Instead of carrying on as a landscape architect as he originally wanted, he changed to a “god job” to apese others, not for what he wanted. But the biggest surprise for him was seeing Selena again. She left him 10yrs ago and took his heart with her, but now she is back and the chemistry between the pair is still as strong as ever, he is not going to let her walk away again. But with so many questions and explanations needing to be said, is it to late for young love to rekindle 10 yrs later.

Together James and Selena face everything they lost through tears, fights , hot sex, and love. Talk about the ones responsible and try to work through past and present feelings to create a future, but for Selena her business is her number 1 priority, would she walk away to spend a forever with the one man she never got over or will James’ secrets ruin any future together? Coming clean to his true love will not only destroy everything they have worked for, but is also the kick in his bum he needs to realise the Montgomery wealth might not be the worst thing for him. Working for the Montgomery Company may be the perfect band aid to fix his lacking life, and return his one true love to him for the forever he has always dreamed of. To no surprise William Montgomery, is there with his hand up, claiming victory on yet another Montgomery man. I love him....

Return to You by Samantha Chase is a 2015 Sourcebooks/Casablanca publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

What a wonderful story! The set up was very cleverly arranged proving sometimes a couple needs a nudge in the right direction from friends and family to help right some serious wrongs. Thankfully, Serena and James have those types of people in their lives. But, getting these two to sit down and talk out their issues is going to take some creativity and maybe a little manipulation along the way too.

Jen, Serena's best friend, and William Montgomery, James' uncle, get together and device a plan to lure Serena back to her hometown using an ten year high school reunion as the bait, which will hopefully give them a chance to put James and Serena in the same place at the same time. They know it won't be easy, but too much time has passed and it's time for someone to do something before it really is too late.

Ten years ago Serena and James were deeply in love, planning on a wedding and a happy ever after, with all that implies. But, a horrible wrench is thrown into their plans and now both parties have spent the last ten years wallowing in anger, hurt and bitterness. Serena and James both have issues with their families they will have to come to terms with as well, but before they can deal with all that, they will have to get to the bottom of what broke them up in the first place. That is easier said than done, because every time they are together in the same room, the tension is so thick that talking in the last thing on their minds.

You will need two things handy before you start this one. A box of tissues and a bucket of ice. The story is light, but I did reach for a tissue a time or two, but the chemistry between James and Serena is so hot, you'll need that bucket of ice to cool down. This couple has no problems in the bedroom, but really heavy baggage between them keeps them from being able to resolve their past issues.
Despite all the help from outside forces, it looks like there may have been too many secrets, too many lies, and too much doubt for the couple to ever find their happy ever after together.
Can Jen and William pull out a Hail Mary?

While some of the issues outside of the couple's personal relationship were not all wrapped up like I wanted, a confrontation I was really anticipating did not come to pass, but other than that I loved everything about this story.

This is a really sweet, very sexy, spicy, and emotional contemporary romance. I closed the book with a big smile on my face. I am looking forward to more of William's magical match making skills. 4 stars

*An e-ARC of the book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley*

Samantha Chase continues to enchant with her endearing writing prose and delightful characters. This was a light story with a cleverly put storyline and a twist that pulls at heart strings.

It didn’t matter how much time had gone by since they’d last seen one another; James would always consider Selena to be his.

Even if James Montgomery won’t admit it to himself, walking away from Selena had done drastic changes in his life. James’ hot tempered and proud personality prevented him from moving forward and finding his own happiness. This hot detective was a source of all kinds of heat in this book, his temper, his passion, and his love for Selena. The mix of his all-male personality and the softness he had for Selena (and only Selena) had my heart.

She knew she was being overly picky but no man had ever made her feel or want in a really long time. No one since James.

Selena Ainsley was a successful and sophisticated woman who hid a painful and unclosed past. She was toughened by her own choices and had a stable career she was happy with. But a part of her still mourns her past and yearns for answers on questions she had sought since she was eighteen. I liked her character. She was a mix of sass and strength that’s perfect for James’ personality.

Somewhere deep inside he knew there was a really good chance that their finally having to deal with the past would ruin any hope of a future for them.

The moment James and Selena met, it was evident that there was an “unextinguished” passion between them. There was a connection that both characters couldn’t help but feel and succumb to. The potential depth of the story would’ve been great but it worked out okay. I just felt that there was more space for a possible profound explanation on this really interesting plot. But all in all, it was a good read. You’ll love the Montgomerys.

Yep ...it's official...I have a love - hate relationship with Samantha Chase and the Montgomery Brothers series!

Why?

It's really quite simple....

I AM OBSESSED WITH THESE BOOKS AND CHARACTERS!

I need more...I can't believe that I have to wait so long to read another one...part of me is tempted to just start at the beginning...but at a book a day, well that wouldn't hold me off long hahha

James and Selena's story was definitely an epic romance. These two are MFEO (made for each other) if I ever saw it :)

While there were quite a few moments during the story that I felt one or the other over reacted, overall everything was realistic and flowed well. I did hate the lack of trust these two seem to have. But of course by the end we get our HEA and can't complain!

I loved the way that Samantha pulled this story off. While we have all read the "misunderstanding during younger years" story before, what Samantha managed to do with Return to You was nothing short of spectacular! The way what came between them when they were younger is kept from us for so long only served to hook me and drag me deeper into their world. I knew that once I started reading I wasn't going to stop!
I know that I have said this before, but I really am enjoying that the sex scenes are left up to the readers imagination. It definitely adds a new layer to the story and often leaves me drooling more so than a play by play scene!

Trust me when I say that Samantha Case's books are beautifully written, filled with realistic and we'll developed characters, and story lines that will leave you begging for more! So head on over and check them all out!!

This is the first book I read from this author and I really enjoyed it.
Selena Ainsley is back in her hometown to organize her high school reunion. She's been away for ten long years avoiding the town and the person, who she thinks, brought incredibly suffering to her life back when she was a teenager.
James Montgomery is a law enforcement officer, to everyone around him he's accomplished and successful, but like Selena he's going through the motions in life but not really living.
Ten years ago they were struck by tragedy and separated without an explanation. Now, thanks to a incredibly nosy uncle and a meddling best friend, they are back together trying to mend the past and build a future.
The beginning of this story was confusing to me, perhaps because this was the first book I've read from the series and I wasn't familiar with the characters, specially uncle William. Once I past that the story was delight to read.
I liked the characters and the way they relate to each other making them likable. I adored her grandmother, sweet and just like a grandma should be.
My heart hurt for Selena and all the stuff she went through in the past, when life took so much from her. Incredible that so much of that pain was caused by one of the people that should've been protecting her and trying to make her happy.
I would've liked to see Selena and James confronting the person that cause their separation but unfortunately for me that didn't happen.
All and all this was an enjoyable read that I recommend to all of you who like a story of second chances at love.

"I received this book for free to read and review for Wicked Reads"

This is the fourth in the Montgomery series. I recommend that you read the first three books (and novella) as they are great reads. They also set the scene for William Montgomery, who decided that his sons needed a bit of a push when it comes to romance ... and now that they are all happy, he turns his attention to his nephews. A scary thought indeed if you are nursing a long term broken heart.

This lovely, well written story is perfect escapism for the lover of romantic fiction. It has a great blend of humour, passion, misunderstanding and forgiveness. Ms Chase has once again created a highly enjoyable read.

I could not connect with this book or the characters at all. I was struggling greatly really getting into the book, storyline and situation our characters were in. It just felt very wordy and drawn out. I actually found myself skimming the story just to find out how the storyline panned out. I did want to know what happened but just could not connect with either character. I also didn't like our character's attitudes and lack of communication, I found it very frustrating. Even her best friend's involvement, even though it was with the best intentions, was irritating for me. I don't know why, I just could not get into this book.

That was a long windy road that they both took to get to where they both wanted to be.

Samantha Chase is a really good writer and the more I read by her the moire I like. This story of finding their way back to each other was really good. Tender and loving. Crazy and brutal. At any moment they could unravel but something always intervened and they just really held on. You will enjoy this or any other of Samantha Chase's books.

A cute second chance romance

Now that the three brothers have all been married, we see the matchmaker aficionado turn his attention to his nephew. This story differs from the other Montgomery stories though bc here the couple used to date until a set of tragic events occur to desperate them. We leave NC for the majority of this story and go to a new community where we meet more great relatable characters who run the gamut of emotions. My favorite part or character of this book is William, especially at the end when he is planning some events! I thought the life lessons about communication, fighting for what you want, family dynamics, etc. were on point as usual. I enjoyed the book, this coupe and hope we see more of their friends Jen and Mike!

After reading this cute, quick and captivating read - I sincerely wish I had started with the first book in the Montgomery Brothers series. The whole concept is so cute and unique using not a woman matchmaker but an older gentleman who is the ‘Uncle’ of the Montgomery boys. The entire concept is really delightful with strings being pulled in the background as the author builds a very credible background with Selena Ainsley and James Montgomery’s history. In this she paints the motivations behind our two protagonists. Once Selena and James had been deeply in love, planning to marry until an accident threw a wrench in their plans. Now each held the other responsible for their 10 year alienation. Naturally no one could deny that Selena and James weren’t too proud and too stubborn to find one another to work things out! Hence - Uncle William decided to step in and take things in hand.

RETURN TO YOU by Samantha Chase is simply the best kind of entertainment to curl up and enjoy a sweet romance become viable again after a long and lonely existence both Selena and James had spent apart. With a lot of hard work Selena had grown her event planning business into a very successful enterprise, which made her best friend Jen (recruited by Uncle William) able to coerce Samantha back home to help plan a Ten Year School Reunion, which was Step One in at least bring these two protagonists back in the same city.

Toss in a nuisance stalker who was harassing Selena’s best friend Jen, and the fact that James just happened to be the chief police detective and let emotions get stirred up a bit after they lay eyes on one another – then just let nature take its course.

Bottom line: A delightful romance and I’m looking to backtrack and also put future books on my auto-buy list! Great writing and great story - highly enjoyable.

It was great being reunited with the Montgomery family and meeting even more of them but this story and the characters didn’t have the depth that the books Stay With Me/More of Me had. William Montgomery is playing matchmaker – again this time for one of his nephews – and getting assistance from James’ brother, Ryder, and Selena’s best friend, Jen. He’s hoping that James and Selena will reconnect and have a second chance at love since things went horribly wrong when they were teens and first in love although no one in the family knew about it since he’d been estranged from them since he dropped out of high school at age 16. Throughout, a lot of secrets and hurts were alluded to but it took most of the book for us to find out why things didn’t work the first time around. Neither James nor Selena were easy to get to know since there were so many secrets between them that kept us out of the loop as well as them. While there was immediate chemistry when they saw each other again for the first time in over ten years they were holding on to too much hurt and had too many barriers to get through. Even when they were communicating they each tended to leave parts of the truth and their past out.

There was lots of family, good and bad memories, friends, the high school reunion which brought Selena home and all the myriad of activities involved in the reunion weekend, laughter, happiness, tears, fear, a stalker, anger, secrets and hurt along with romance and love. The scenic descriptions were very vivid. The prologue and epilogue were nice ways to start and end the story and the epilogue gave nice closure and tied up some loose ends.

William was reminiscent to me of Mick O’Brien in Sherryl Woods’ Chesapeake Shores series and I couldn’t help but root for him to be successful once again in his matchmaking. This is only the third book I’ve read by Chase, one being a novella in the series, but they won’t be my last. I will go back and read the first two books in the series which I missed, Wait for Me and Trust in Me. Next up for me is book five in the series, Meant For Me. I look forward to reading all the contemporary romances that Chase has written and they will be added to my always growing TBR pile!

Favorite Quote: If there was a way to forget about the tragedy in their past and focus strictly on the emotions, attraction, and what they felt for each other right now, James would gladly do it. No woman ever made him feel the way Selena did, and he knew now that no one ever would. After so much time apart, it was still there; it was like living without a limb part of your life and then getting it back.

She completed him.

William Montgomery, as a preretirement hobby, has started matchmaking for his sons, nephews and nieces. He’s pretty self-satisfied and meddles from a good place. In this 4th in the Montgomery Brothers series, he’s concerned about his nephew James. James has always had an independent streak and is almost self-destructively stubborn. Ten years ago, after James had been living on Long Island, something happened to break up what seemed to be an intensely happy relationship with Selena Ainsley. As time moves on, James becomes even more isolated from his family.

Uncle William locates Selena and approaches her best friend Jen. When the breakup occurred, Selena left Long Island for college and never really returned. She now lives and has an events management business in the Outer Banks. William asks Jen to arrange with Selena to come home and organize their class’s 10th reunion. He hopes that if they face one another, they may realize they still need and love each other.

Return for You is a fast read, but not a particularly successful one. There is the required HEA, but the road to it is not particularly believable. James and Selena come together angry and fall into bed. He learns something about her and rejects her out of hand. They come together again and fall into bed. Then she finds out something about him and off she goes. There are backstories to explain the breakup which is semi-believable, but, for my tastes, too much of the emotional infrastructure is told rather than illustrated. Many readers will find this story diverting, but not ultimately very satisfying.

Readalikes:
Jayne Ann Krentz – Sharp Edges; Barbara Delinsky - A Woman Betrayed; Roxanne St. Claire - French Twist; Jude Deveraux – Carolina Isle; Susan Wiggs – Summer by the Sea; Judith McNaught – Paradise; Diana Palmer – Wyoming Winter; Susan Mallery – Thrill Me.

Pace: Fast
Characters: Moody; flawed; irritating
Story: Character-driven
Writing style: Engaging
Tone: Melodramatic
Frame: Long Island, Outer Banks NC; contemporary

Well William Montgomery is at it again, this time with some help from his nephew Ryder and the unsuspecting girl's best friend, Jen.

James Montgomery let it slip that he let the one he loved get away 10 years ago and that put a notion into Ryder's head and now he and William with the help of Jen will put a plan into action.

Of course as romance readers know the road to happily ever after is rocky at best sometimes.

Selena Ainsley has loved James for over 10 years but a tragic accident and other forces at work kept them apart but now she was back home to help Jen plan their 10 year high school reunion, only she has no clue as to the painstaking plans that were made to get her there. She fought coming because she didn't want to run into James again, well she did but she didn't.

When James sees Selena again it is under less than ideal circumstances and sparks fly both out of anger and passion, sometimes a very fine line but Ms. Chase writes believable situations that suck you into the passion and drama as the story unfolds. We find out too why James is sort of estranged from his family and why he ran away from the Montgomery name. This factors into the story as well, keeping the ex-lovers apart.

At times the story is sad but it also brings out hope and sympathy for what happened to these two in the past. Both of them need to let that go in order to move forward but James is having a harder time with that. Montgomery men are their own worst enemies but with a little help from William and advice from William James finally comes around.

This story was well written and bittersweet to the end. It was about second chances and never forgetting your first love. It's about redemption of sorts and coming to grips with the past and who you want to be.

It was really good until....the story was interesting but it just started getting annoying the closer it got to the end of the story. Selina was just really annoying and hypocritical since most of the time she only seen her side on everything. It really, really annoyed me. If I was her best friend Jin, I would have finally knocked some since into her and told her how it is on her behavior, instead of fearing that she would get hurt from the truth because of what happened in the past. That is what true friends do because we love them so much. Selina was really just a one side streak, just like she always blamed James about. She always kept using the "everyone always trying to control me" card. James tried to have her listen to him now that she didn't believe him, but he sure did try and hear her out when she asked for him to stay. It's really grrrrrrrr. Really Selina, I want to strangle you sometimes. James is yes, very stubborn in many ways but I thing the more stubborn one in this book was YOU. You kept comparing him to what your dad does to you, without you even knowing it...geez....how about not being like your father too with James...she also had his hand tied behind his back just as much as you. And that's all I'm going to say about the matter cause than I'm going to explode 🙃 lol

Selena Ainsley and Jame Montgomery were madly in love and they were planning to get married soon as Selena graduates until tragedy struck. James left Selena in hospital bed without saying good bye and Selena never looked back since then.
Selena wasn't planning to come to Long Island for anything until her best friend requests her help for their 10 year high school reunion. She didn't want to go back and face her past but how hard could that be. It was only a week she will be spending and she may not run into him at all.
James knew Selena was coming back in town and he wasn't sure how he should approach her after all these years. He has many questions he wanted to ask.
Selena was back and helping with reunion when her best friend's ex boyfriend wrecking havoc. Who shows up at her door, James. They face each other and James couldn't keep his hands and kisses her then leaves. They haven't talked but every time they faces each other they are drawn to each other.
They were enjoying whatever time they have until they had their talk. When both really finds out what had happened to them when Selena was in a car accident, James still couldn't believe Selena and Selena didn't want to revisit that feeling of abandonment. Selena wasn't the only one with secrets, James was hiding from his family and he never shared anything with Selena. She feels betrayed again and feels this is final.
Will James will be able to let Selena go for the second time and finally find their happily ever after...
This was good second chance at love. Selena and James had lots of history and love for each other. This could be standalone. I enjoyed reading..

An angsty, fighty, steamy reunion story, literally. It takes place around a high school reunion. The heroine is an event planner whose best friend begs her to get involved in the planning and incidentally come back to the town she hasn't been back to since high school. The hero is the older man (by 3 years) she fell in love with back then, now a detective with the local police department. The whole story is a set-up arranged by his uncle who has been playing matchmaker with his own sons and now wants to branch out to the rest of the family. The hero left his wealthy family to get away from his father's overbearing ambitions for him and hasn't been back since. There's lots of pain between hero and heroine, and lots of lies told about them that they have to straighten out. Some of the angst didn't make sense to me, and the ending was a little loosey-goosey, but I enjoyed the story. Good read.

James Montgomery has always wanted to do things his way. He's felt that he's had to prove himself not only to his family but to the girl who stole his heart and left 10 years ago with all his dreams.

Now 10 years later, he finds Selena back in his life and all the hurt and pain from 10 years ago are coming back up to the surface. When the truth comes out about what really happened on that fateful night, can he forgive and forget the past so he and Selena can move forward.

I love each and every one of the Montgomery Brothers books. Full of heart and always a great storyline with laughter and love. James and Selena's story is a testament of second chances with a little help from his Uncle William the matchmaker.
