Market Garden #8

On the Clock

Rate this book
When Blake Raleigh’s favorite rentboys retire from Market Garden, they’re sure their friend Jason will be a perfect replacement. Though Tristan and Jared are a tough act to follow, Blake returns to London to test out their recommendation.

Jason is right on the money. Negotiations turn him on. Getting paid turns him on. The higher the stakes, the hotter things get. Each trip to London is more expensive than the last, and the webcam sessions don’t run cheap, but Jason is well worth the sticker shock.

The more time they spend together, the more Blake wants, and not just sex and transactions. But Jason’s been burned before by men who thought they were in love with him, and he’s not making that mistake again. When the lines between personal and professional start to blur, it’s going to take more than money, jewelry, and sports cars to keep Jason from clocking out and walking away.

L.A. Witt and her husband have been exiled from Spain and sent to live in Maine because rhymes are fun. *3.5 stars*

I'm a huge, HUGE fan of the Market Garden series, with my favorites of the bunch being Nick and Spenser's books. I think I had some crazy high expectations for Rolex's story and though this one is sexy like you'd imagine from a Market Garden book, it isn't quite the revelation that I was expecting.

Anyone who has read a book in this series knows Rolex. Super high-roller who loves to watch others get it on ring a bell? I was waiting to get to know the man behind the watch, and I was really curious how L.A. Witt and Aleksandr Voinov would portray him.

This book is told just from Rolex's (aka, Blake Raleigh) point of view, which I ended up feeling was a bad move. While I enjoyed the mystery behind just seeing Blake's POV, I also didn't feel like I got to know Jason, emotionally.

Jason is a rent boy who LOVES his job. The reason? He has a money kink.

That's right, a money kink. Getting paid for sex is a huge turn on for him, and the more money he gets, the more he gets turned on.

I liked Jason but I didn't feel like I got to know him at all. Part of the problem was not getting his POV, and part of the problem was that the story felt too short to develop the type of feelings that this book wanted from us.

Though this book lacked in the relationship development department, what it didn't lack for was sex appeal. Holy. God.

I think I popped one of my kink cherries in this book, at least, I've never read this particular kink in my memory. If you are a fan of strictly monogamous sex between MCs, this book really isn't for you.

While this book delivered on the heat factor, it might be my least favorite book in the Market Garden series, which isn't saying that much because I think I average over 4 stars for the series. Though I wanted a bit more from this one, I think most fans of this series will still be pretty pleased.

3.75 Hawt and Spicy Rentboy Stars KNOCKED DOWN TO 1 STAR FOR AN AUTHOR BEHAVING BADLY.

Below is my complete review. It was originally rated FOUR Goodreads Stars. I chose to round up versus down because I loved this series in general. In the comments section is the author's unprofessional behavior when I tagged him in a post on my blog to PROMOTE his book.

My original UNedited review-

On the Clock, book #8 in the Market Garden Series, was one I highly anticipated. It's no great secret my love for escort books, but couple that with the MM genre and I'm hooked!

I'd read the entire Market Garden Series last year pretty much back to back. Each and every book revolves around a different rent boy in this gay brothel. The series is seriously hawt and the writing style of both Witt and Voinov flows seamlessly. Some of the books have light BDSM (which isn't typically a favorite of mine in MM) but it's done very well. But holy smokes- the steam factor in this series is off the charts!

 photo 89D0B368-063E-4499-8A05-7431C9EF0BA4_zpszbas3qno.gif

On the Clock depicts the wealthy American businessman, Blake, who comes to Market Garden and meets up with Jason. Blake had cameos in Tristan and Jared's book and is nicknamed Rolex among the men at Market Garden. He's rich, powerful, and loves to be a voyeur in the activities within the brothel. When Tristan and Jared leave Market Garden, they referred Blake to a fine specimen of man rent boy, Jason.

I enjoyed the very slow build between the two of them. Blake has the money to pay for virtually anything and Jason just happens to get off on money, on negotiation for this and that FOR money. The entire book was back and forth negotiations, trying to tow the line of escort and john when gradual feelings keep trying to creep in.

I do have to say, the constant focus on money/babbles for this service and that doused the flames a bit for me. I wish Jason would've been a bit less greedy. I understand his kink for it but it seemed to take practically the entire book for him to be with Blake pro-boner, I mean pro-bono. It distracted me from the love story and regardless of my desire for that angsty build I demand in my MMs, I wish he'd caved a bit earlier. But everything was for a price, it seemed- negotiations.

 photo E9F12E79-D73A-4350-A5A1-E28CD2AEBA8C_zpsrna7vkke.gif

I also was a bit put off that Jason didn't seem to mind one bit sleeping with other johns. I'm a romantic at heart and I get that he was a rent boy to start with but a little indecision on his part before rushing off with other johns when Blake goes back to the States would've made me like him a bit more.

But regardless, Voinov and Witt are a sexual powerhouse within the MM genre. Whenever I see a book released from this duo, I must read it pronto. It's been a while and I'm happy they decided to join forces again. I'd highly recommend Market Garden Series for those MM fans that like a heavy dose of steam with their stories- and fans of escorts!

When I think of Market Garden, I think Soho, me sitting outside a coffee shop
, letting my crazy mind run wide imagining the boy's that walk by, could possibly be one of the boy's that work at Market Garden; and that guy in the suit stepping out the back of that car could be Mr Red Tie Guy or Rolex......yeah, yeah, yeah leave me in my bubble...it's damn fun in my mind.

Jason ~ (This guy here, happens to be a close friend of mine – swoon – he makes such a perfect Jason I couldn't resist.)

Ok, at last Rolex's story, I always wanted to know what made Rolex tick (excuse the pun ~ lisa shakes head laughing) well I know he has a panache for a bit of voyeurism, and Jason our lastest character from MG didn't disappoint with the entertainment in that department.

Rolex enjoying abit of voyeurism

Rolex is back in town, and looking for some company, when he's two favorite rentboys retire from Market Garden, they’re sure their friend Jason will be a perfect replacement.

Blake Raleigh aka Rolex

Jason, blonde, hot, chisiled features.....is right on the money.

Nothing turns him on more, than negotiating and being paid for sex. The higher the stakes, the hotter things get...and Rolex being the high roller he is.....is the perfect john to have fun negotiating with.

Have I mentioned the sex? Oh the steamy sexy, ménage sex, on the top of a car sex, the skype sex....ooh la la....it was all here and very nicely done, at that.

When the lines between personal and professional start to blur, it takes more than money, jewellery, and sports cars to keep Jason from clocking out and walking away from Rolex.

Personally, I felt “rawbbed” that we didn't get Jason's POV, I would have loved to have got in his head, as I really liked him, that's my only criticism. Otherwise another good collaboration between Witt and Voinov.

Clock in....and have some fun...catching up with the boys from Market Garden.

3.5 Stars!

Well...this one was rather porn-y, I must say! Not much in the way of character or relationship development.

But it was definitely hot, I'll give it that.

I never really felt much of a connection between rent-boy Jason and his john Blake. Even up until the end I felt like Jason was all about the money.

And then when the "I Love You's" started flying....

Yeah, you lost me. So basically 3.5 stars for the steam factor.

I may go back and check out some of the others in the series, maybe I would have connected more to this one had I read the others.

I received this book as an ARC though NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I took me a little while to get into this book, and I'm not quite sure why. I think I was probably in the wrong mood when I started, but, once I got into it, I was hooked. The characters were interesting, and fully developed people. I loved their interactions, both sexual and platonic, and I loved that their connection wasn't simply physical. I loved Blake's and his respect for Jason. He never looked down on Jason, and always treated him like the professional he was. I really liked his thoughts on the business aspects of Jason's work. I really liked Jason as well. He was smart, and funny, and I liked how much he enjoyed his work.

description

The sex in this story was particularly steamy, and I loved how Blake's voyeurism kink worked into the story. I also found his attitude towards his own jealousy to be refreshing. I loved the humor in this story. I found myself reading large parts of it to Elspeth because I loved it so much. It really made me laugh, and I loved how in worked into the main plot of the story. It helped me buy into the developing relationship between Blake and Jason.

description

The ending was well done, and it fit both character well. I was glad that the authors didn't play into what might have been a typical ending for these characters, and instead wrote something that was much more honest for these two. It made things feel much more like real life and a lot less like Pretty Woman. One of my new favorites of the series.

This is a BITCH BUY ME NOW BOOK

Wow, I devoured this book in a frenzy like a hamster on crack. I shed a tear like a drama queen. This is how I felt about the erotic sex in the book.

L.A. Witt and Aleksandr Voinov, I only have one thing to say to you.

There were so many supernova hawt erotic scenes in here that I can only respond in this way...

Now for the serious review. Rolex high roller who turned us on by paying Tristan and Jared to perform for him is back in London from the States. He is in Market Garden, looking for Jason - who was referred to him by the erotic duo. Rolex turns out to be the sweetest guy, Blake Raleigh. He's a self-made man who willingly drops money to have Jason at his command. Or is he at Jason's command?

The sex in this is amazing. I'm turned on and want to be there watching in person. The dialog in this story is phenomenal. The body language is off the charts. My panties are sopping wet after reading scene after scene of negotiated sex. The threesomes were amazing. Can I just say, Jason in the middle fucking whilst and fucking himself is one of my all time favourite scenes. The dynamic duo authors paint a vivid picture leaving no doubt in my mind that they know how to make a person melt on the spot. Enough about the sex! I don't want to spoil it so y'all are going to have to read it.

The character development in this story is so good. I'm sucked in and I fully invested in the Blake/Jason relationship. I want it to work out so badly. *sniff sniff* The two characters are comfortable in their skins which is what makes this book so good. They are likeable people who are honest about their desires. Their kinks are fun and so bloody delicious to watch. When they become more than john and rentboy, spending time as friends, it's where my heart is pulled in and I really pray for a happily ever after for them. This finale is breathtaking. My heart is beating just as rapidly as Blake's as he rushes to Jason. I'm biting my nails wondering how the confession will go. I gasp in pain at a scene. I had to read it several times and when it finally sinks in, I scream... "NOOOOOOOO!!!!!" *shakes fist in the air and weeps quietly into my blanket, curled up on my sofa*

The ending is beautifully done and it leaves a nice opening for another book. *glares are the authors... there is another book with these two, right?* Ms. Witt and Mr. Voinov do a spectacular job in this long awaited book in this series. I thought the series finished at seven. Happily the perfect eight shows up to take my breath away. Highly recommended to m/m readers who love sexy men burning up the sheets.

I am/was a big fan of the series, but this one felt different comparing to the other sequels.
Like it was written not by the same authors. Maybe because it has been already a while back when I read the book #7.
It was hot, as always, but it was a bit boring either. Maybe because Rolex has never belonged to my favorite characters.
I wasn't really connected to the characters and I couldn't buy Jason's attraction for Rolex.
But if you want a lot of hot sex(I mean A LOT OF), and you read all previous books in the series, you shouldn't miss this one.

BEFORE READING:

Blake a.k.a Rolex is here!!! *Purple is happy*

AFTER READING:

This review is posted on Way Too Hot Books.

Rent-boys were never the characters I prefer reading about. In fact this is the only book series I read and enjoyed with them as the MCs. The main reasons I even gave these books a shot were:
~ A. Voinov being one of my fav mm authors
~ the series started out as short, fast-paced, fun and way-too-hot stories with book 5, 7 and now 8 being full length novels (around 220 pages.)

I had my doubts when I saw that book 5 and 7 will be full-length novels, because sex takes a major part of the plot and that can easily become boring and repetitive for me if not done right. Those type of stories were usually a hit or miss in my reading history, but luckily I ended up enjoying both of those books. The short stories with Tristan, Jared & Blake a.k.a Rolex are my favorite among this series, so since in this installment we finally get Rolex' story I was positive that I'm gonna love it, BUT I was wrong.

~ 3 main reason why I'm disappointed with this installment:

Reason No. 1 : Who are you Blake and what have you done with Rolex??? I don't know about you guys, but after reading those short stories I obviously had a totally another picture of Rolex than this version of him we got in this book. I imagined him as this cool, sensual, provocative, confident and a bit bossy dirty-talker who knows what he wants and how to get it and not this confused, quite insecure and regular guy he turned out to be. The whole time I was like: Seriously, this is the famous Rolex? O.O

Btw. to be honest, I wasn't overly impressed with Jason too. He was fun and all, but since the whole book is written from Rolex' pov, I feel like we kind of didn't get to meet Jason that good, at least not outside the bedroom.

Reason No. 2 : Where is the chemistry??? I don't know, maybe it's because I couldn't quite warm up to the MCs til' the very ending of the book, but I wasn't feeling any chemistry or sparks between them since the moment they met, and that's why most of the sex scenes (and there were too much of a lot of them) or even more emotional moments felt pretty impersonal and the ending with some sappy statements pretty unconvincing.

Reason No. 3 : So, that's it??? This refers to the plot of the story which was, aside some parts, quite plain in my opinion.

The writing was good as always and there were some parts I've enjoyed, like f.e. the scenes when Tristan and Jared showed up and later on Zach and Raul, but basically that's it. Maybe this was the wrong book at the wrong time, maybe my expectations were too big since this is the story of my fav Market Garden sugar-daddy Rolex or maybe I had my fill of mm romances with rent-boys and it's time to move on, but I just wasn't feeling this story or the characters it revolves around.

I expected this installment to end up being my favorite of the series, but sadly, it ended up just the opposite. Either way, I've seen and read a lot of positive reviews from the majority of fans, so I guess this is one one of those not-my-cup-of-tea reads.

***5 'HAIL MARKET GARDEN BOYS' STARS ! ***

IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT HOLY.

HOLY MOTHER OF SIN!

IF I’M GOING TO HELL BECAUSE OF THIS, I’M SO DEFINITELY WILL DRAG Aleksandr Voinov and L.A. Witt’S CUTE ARSE FOR THIS !
I MADE NO MISTAKES WHEN I CHOSE THEM AS TWO OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS.

When they’re writing ‘clean romance’, it’s obviously clean. When they’re writing sins(Yeah, you heard me!), they write SINS. IN CAPITAL. And I freakin’ loved it.
The combination of Blake,Jason and some *additional player* will leave you hot and bothered.
Just keep you AC on and read it ALONE. Because, these will happen to you!

GOT THE HINTS? *SMIRK*

Market Garden is one of EPIC series I have ever read, and loved, and obsessed about. Blake Raleigh (Phew! Glad Rolex is finally has a name), is one of my favorite perverted, voyeur, hottest patron in the world of sinners.
And the combination of Blake and Jason (the most expensive prostitute in Market Garden), was LETHAL. And Jason is definitely WORTH every penny Blake spent. And I’m telling, when I said Jason is ‘expensive’ , he’s REALLY is expensive.

Intermezzo (True Story) : When I finished this book , I went to shower (of course…eye rolling), and I put some shampoo on my hand, and I shampooed MY BODY, not my hair! I didn’t concentrate of washing my hair FFS! I was still thinking of THEM. Damn. (Don’t laugh. You’ll be in my position later. Seriously)
Somehow, I found this one is very classy 

Prince Charming may have been able to awaken Sleeping Beauty, but Jason’s kiss could bring a half-dead businessman
into the correct time zone, wake him up, and give him a hard-on. Disney, eat your heart out.

Just imagine, if his kiss taste ‘like that’, no wonder Jason had become Blake’s new religion. Ha !
This book should come with warning, it’s a total E-burning and you can not read it in public or with people’s around you and prepare a cold shower after. Remember , shampoo is for your hair, not to wash your body (facepalm me).

Five stars for for the whole series, and this one I was easily became my favorite.
The ending was HFN , but it was reasonable, and I think somehow, Blake and Jason will work it out soon after this. Burn so many bridge and all.
Recommended it highly!
Read this in reading order, to get to know who’s Blake as Rolex before Jason. You won’t regret it. Aleks and Lori wrote it’s best in this series.

I'd been looking forward to Rolex's story since reading his hot-as-hell adventures with Jared and Tristan.

description

I was all over the set-up. Rolex, real name Blake, doesn't mind throwing around tens of thousands of dollars for some hot sex, and high-end rentboy Jason gets off on negotiating selling himself. They made a good pair in the bedroom.

And yes, this book definitely delivers in the hot sexin' department. Extra points for delivering both a threesome and a foursome.

description

But that's all there is here - sex. I felt like this 200+ page book was just a series of sex scenes strung together, and I was hoping for more.

There's little to no character development, and the relationship development is just as wonky. The ending is a very tentative HFN, if that. In the real world, I'd give Blake and Jason a few weeks tops before they called it quits.

I think this series works better as shorter installments, like Tristan and Jared's story, and Nick and Spencer's. I haven't enjoyed the full-length books like I did the shorter ones, mostly because I expected them to have more substance. Or maybe I just read this at the wrong time.

However, if you're in the mood for lots of hot sex and are okay with an ending that definitely isn't a HEA, 'On the Clock' might be for you.

3,5 stars.

Loved every installment of the Market Garden so far and couldn’t wait to get my hands FINALLY on Rolex’s story.

After reading though I feel kind of cheated. For me On The Clock wasn’t as good as the previous books. I can’t put my finger on it… but it felt different, it didn’t feel like other books written by the successful author duo Witt & Voinov.

Blake aka Rolex was a nice character, I loved to get to know him better… but I couldn’t feel any connection to Jason and why the successful rent boy even fell in love with Blake. The chemistry between those two just didn’t feel right.

As always the sex scenes Witt & Voinov deliver are sheet burning hot. The story itself left me unsatisfied, though. I craved a bit more than hot sex…

All in all it was a okay read but no match for the previous books.

Buddy read with @Christine

A heartwarming close to what’s been a very enjoyable series.

On the Clock was quick, fun and light-hearted. I enjoyed watching Blake and Jason fall for each other and the ending was fitting.

I wasn’t sold initially and I still think this could have been slightly longer to allow for more character development but Blake’s realisation at the 40% mark about his relationships was so humanising it won me over.

I enjoyed all the entries (some more than others – looking at Nick and Spencer’s books haha) and I can’t wait to revisit those in the future!

Blake(Rolex) and Jason met at Market Garden.

Jason was like: Give it to me...

And Blake, who found Jason mouth-watering... Well, he basically...

...let it rain.

Then after they fucked, cummed and all. Blake was like:

So they did it again and again... Until, like every other romance book out there, everything changed... How? I won't spoil it. Lol! Go buy and read!

As for my review, well as usual, this was HOOOOOOTTTTTT!!! That Skype call on the blurb? It was way way way hotter than I expected!!! And there were other hot as hell parts too.

I loved that I got to know Blake. He's such a likable character ever since. Especially know that I read about him. I also like the sexy, snarky, witty, Jason. I liked the whole story generally.

But...one criticism. I feel the book needs more character development. I have a feeling that Jason will get is own book with his POV. Blake though, I wanted to learn more about him. Also Blake's voice feels young. Even though he works for over 20 years as he said. So that makes him around 40? But it doesn't feel like it.

Overall, this was another HOT and GREAT addition to the Market Garden series.

Will we get another book of them? Or will the next one be about Raoul & Zach?

4 STARS!

My goodness. This series might be the hottest thing I’ve ever read 🥵 *holy guacamole

This is book #8. I read it directly after Tristans & Jareds story (books #1, #2 & #6). It felt fitting because this is Blakes book - formerly known as „Rolex“, who was then a customer of Tristans & Jareds. And now he’s coming back to London and to Market Garden where he meets Jason - who is already expecting him.

You get a lot of sexy times, a hot skype call and a foursome that leaves you breathless. To name only a few of the stuff you get with this book. And romance. Of course you get romance. Because that’s why we’re here, right? ;)

This is basically pwp featuring a prostitute and his john. I will also admit that it was quite good pwp, but in the back of my mind I was wondering "why couldn't we have gotten 219 pages of Tristan and Jared instead?"

Anyhoo, Blake, aka Rolex, was the mysterious figure who featured in Tristan and Jared's stories. He's loaded with an endless amount of money and is willing to pay top dollar for a variety of scenarios that tickle whatever fancy he may have at the moment. Blake typically pays for sex to avoid the complications of relationships, such as those pesky gold diggers that have plagued him in the past. He knows his "transactions" are straightforward, no games or artifice. He knows what he's getting and he's fine with that. More than fine. Until he isn't.

Jason is no slouch in making smart transactions. He's impressed with Blake, and gets his kicks from being paid (very well mind you) for doing what he does best and he's worth every penny. He has no illusions that this arrangement is any different from "jobs" he's had before. However there's always a "but".

So this was a fun, john falls in love with his rent boy, fairy tale. If you're ok with that scenario, then just sit back and enjoy. This was not classic love or romance - so for those who want strict monogamy from the onset when these 2 meet, turn yourself around and find something else to read. However if you've gotten this far in the series, then you already know what potentially awaits you.

I just took this at face value and I was entertained. Though it doesn't hit my usual wants or likes in the typical romances I read, a little variety is the spice of life right?? And the HEA was satisfying enough, but as a warning, it was by no means close to romantic convention.

Incredibly hot, well-written, with a switchy verse duo dynamic that enjoy power plays and negotiation. The ultimate conclusion for Rolex from Tristan and Jared’s series (1,2, and 6 of Market Garden).
I really enjoyed it. Super hot but super respectful of boundaries and sex positive, with likable characters and memorable spicy scenarios.

The eighth instalment in the Market Garden series is a smut-fest like no other.

The American high-roller, Blake, aka Rolex, goes to Market Garden once more to get a rent boy recommended from none other than hotties Tristan and Jared. Jason is a wet dream come true and the boys waste no time getting down and dirty. Seriously, the sex in this book raises the bar so high that I wonder what the next instalment will bring. The scenes are not for the faint of heart, including a couple of ménage scenes that were smoking! Jason has a money kink, which I’d never read about before and it gave his character something totally unique. No rent boy sob story here or saving money ”for college”. Jason loves negotiating the price for services rendered and the authors did an amazing job writing witty dialogue with Blake and Jason upping the ante.

So, half if not more of the book is really these two guys hooking up and getting their money and voyeurism kinks going on. A little after the half-way mark, there’s a nice plot twist that gives them the opportunity for some actual romance to develop.

And here is where the book started losing points for me.

Let’s just say the opportunity was not taken advantage of in my opinion. They spent a week together which could have been a window for the readers to see Blake and Jason become intimate, developing feelings with each other, and actually come closer to wanting a relationship. Instead, we saw a day of that week on page and then the plot was fast forwarded to their week coming to an end. As soon as the week ended, Blake pretty soon realised that he had feelings for Jason and made the grand gesture/confession about wanting something more with him. It just wasn’t believable enough. If anything, I saw it more as Blake being infatuated with Jason than having actual deep feelings. The situation wasn’t helped by the fact that we only got Blake’s POV so it was even harder to see why/how/when Jason started reciprocating.

Although I appreciated that the ending was realistic, providing a very strong HFN, I was still left wanting more. I wanted to see how they were going to navigate the actual relationship with all the everyday issues and frustrations. And although I enjoyed the steam in this book immensely, I feel like the romance took a back seat in this one.

Fans of the series will appreciate the steam in this book. It is scorching! Witt & Voinov are good collaborators and the writing is clever and engaging throughout. This is excellent, kinky erotica but it did overshadow the romance development.

So much sex (...I say with love).

A good story, but it felt different from others in the MG series. There's no doubt in my mind these boys liked each other in the bedroom, but I never really bought into Jason's attraction for Rolex (outside of the $$$). Maybe because the story is told from Rolex's POV?

Eh.

Anyway, it was a nice read, and I loved the sexy time.
Like, a lot.
So there's that.

This was much better than I thought it would be. After reading the first chapter and realizing the difference in my dear Rolex, er um, Blake, I was prepared to read this with a permanent grimace on my face. But thank fuck that didn't' happen.

Quid Pro Quo was my first "official" m/m romance so Rolex, he has a special place in my heart as well as my libido. I loved the hell out of Tristan and Jared but the addition of Rolex and the power play he create for them all was off the charts hot so I was terribly giddy when I found out he would be getting his own book and a real name.

So as I said, the first chapter felt off. I am used to Rolex being cocky and so damn sure of himself but when it comes to Jason, the man loses his shit. Yeah, he totally did and once I settled into the dynamic between Blake and Jason, and stopped thinking of Blake as Rolex - just a name and not really a man - I began to really enjoy myself.

This had a bit of a Pretty Woman feel to it, which isn't bad because it's still one of my favorite movies ever, and I hoped it would end the way I wanted it to and it so did.

Blake and Jason were very good together, their transactions were witty and full of banter that added to the foreplay and of course the sex was hot. Jason gave Blake everything he wanted in bed as well as catering to his kink... watching. I LOVE that we still got Blake watching and paying extra for what he wanted to happen even via Skype and let me tell you, WHO he watches on Skype had me panting and wishing I had a visual replay of it. Damn! That was hot and phew. HOT! But the watching, it's what Blake does best and what I have come to love about him. He isn't ashamed that he likes to watch and though his conscious digs at him from time to time when he pays for sex, Blake owns who he is and what he wants. Just like Jason has no problem admitting he likes getting paid for sex and what turns him on. Wow, honesty in a rent boy story... total par for the course with Market Garden and I just love it.

It was great to watch Rolex go from a commodity, yes he is the john but he is still highly sought after when he is across the pond, to Blake, a real man with real feelings and wants. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Blake lose his control with Jason from that first test drive. It was sweet and yet, still hot when Jason is so into it he forgets negotiations and also, when he makes Blake bleed green! Goodness.

I'll say it again, I really liked this much more than I thought I would, as I was concerned about half of the authoring team being absent for a think about half of the book if rumors are correct. It was still good. It had the same feel of the previous Market Garden books; hook you in with hot rent boy sex and keep you there for the romance with a twist. Yeah, this had the romance in it and I loved watching every thing these two did together.

This series is one of my favorites and I am beyond happy this did not disappoint. Not one bit.

When I first got this book and finished reading it, I thought it was fabulous - a fitting end to the series, with Rolex finally finding that what had seemed elusive to him all along. I didn't have the words ready for a review, so I left it sitting at 'currently-reading' for a while, until I could read it again.

And the 2nd time round, I wasn't as enamored with it. It's still a solid piece, no doubt about that, and the sex is as smoking hot as I've come to expect from this series, but something was missing. I took me some time to figure out exactly what that was.

The entire book is told from Blake's (Rolex) POV, and while I appreciated very much getting to see what goes on in his mind, considering how elusive that mind was in previous installments, I missed getting the view of Jason. I'm not sure why Jason's voice wasn't included, when all the previous books were told from two POVs. I would have liked to hear from Jason himself, outside of what he tells Rolex/Blake, and get a bit more of his true motivations. While the blurb alludes to some of them, I didn't get the feeling that Blake really understood him, at least not until the end. And without Jason's POV, I couldn't really connect with his character, so his portrayal fell a little flat for me.

I liked how creative the author duo got with the sex scenes in this one. Especially the one via Skype where we get to meet Jared and Tristan again. Holy shitballs, folks, my Nook burned up! Those two are without a doubt one of my favorite couples from this series, and I loved how they were included here, in a scene that was rather kinky, but perfectly Rolex.

I also felt a bit let down by Blake/Rolex himself. And then again, not. Allow me to explain - In the earlier books, we don't really see him as anything beyond a voyeur/client who pays handsomely for the privilege of having another man at his beck and call, but in this book, we see a man who, while at the height of financial and professional success, is very much alone and sad, sort of in the closet, searching for something he doesn't even know he wants. He seems to tell himself that he likes the NSA sexual encounters, having someone do exactly as he's told, because he's paid for doing so, but to me, Blake just felt like a sad, sad man without any personal direction in life. He, for lack of a better term, seemed more human, which appealed to me.

It's almost comical to watch how Blake's perspective changes as he spends more time with Jason, spends more of his money on Jason, and then realizes that all the money in the world doesn't buy him what he's really seeking.

The climatic ending notwithstanding (which was truly well done and believable), this book sadly didn't pack the punch of the previous ones. As with most of these books, the ending is realistic in that the two MCs don't ride off into the sunset, but get a strong HFN.

Will there be another? Something for the fans, just to catch up with how the couples from this series fare in the future? I'd definitely be interested.

In my review of Payoff (Market Garden #6) I said, "Rolex really is one of those characters that you can't help but like because basically he's a nice guy." Each book that has featured Rolex as a john I enjoyed not only because of the rent boys he was involved with but because of Rolex aka Blake. I like that he wanted different things from "the boys", I like that he pushed them and himself, and I liked that despite the fact that he did indeed hire them he didn't treat them poorly, in fact he treated them like real human beings. There is something special about this man and we see just how special he truly is in On The Clock.

Blake Raleigh is apprehensive about the rent boy Tristan and Jared his former favorites have referred him to, but he's also in need of some company. Once he meets Jason it becomes obvious that he affects him like no one else has, not even the dynamic duo that came before him. One thing is for certain Jason is a master negotiator and Blake not only admires that but respects it and him.

Honestly I was shocked at the intensity of the connection between Blake and Jason but it was pretty obvious from their first evening together. Both men acted somewhat out of character with each other but it seemed natural for them to do so, like they fit together. The fact remains Jason is a rent boy and he has a kink...a money kink. He gets off on parting johns from their money and he truly LOVES being a prostitute and Rolex (I really have a hard time calling him Blake) is more than happy to let him take his money and give him everything he wants and needs. Jason does a great job of knowing exactly what buttons to push and rigs up some very interesting and entertaining surprises not only for Rolex but the reader as well. Hot doesn't even begin to describe some of the things that go on within the pages of this book but suffice it to say you will not be disappointed.

This book took an interesting turn and I'm really curious to see what happens next between these two, but one thing is for certain there is something bit between Blake and Jason and even an ocean can't keep them apart.

As with all the books in this series, On the Clock was a fascinating look in the lives of rent boys, their johns, and what motivates them both, but in addition we saw that sometimes two people can connect on a deeper level despite the reason they came together in the first place.

Okay, if I'm being honest, I'd have to say that this book would have had to be really bad for me not to give it 5 stars. This is a book I feel like I've been waiting for since the beginning of time. "Rolex" has been one of my favorite characters in the Market Garden series and getting his story was already exciting. But to be one of the people who had a hand in naming him? Excitement overload!

The story didn't disappoint... Blake, that's Rolex, is and was exactly how I expected him to be. He's more, really. And Jason? Well, Tristan and Jared found the perfect person to pair up with Blake now that they are not longer available to him. Together, Blake and Jason are a fun couple. They're very open minded and place their cards on the table right off the bat. Their honesty with each other was fantastic, the sex was explosive, and the tenderness so sweet and endearing that I couldn't put it down.

A toast to two of my favorite authors! Lori and Aleks, you're amazing people, I adore you both, and can't wait to see you again. Thank you for this book. It's amazing and I love it. So... what do I need to do to get you to give me another one? :) Blake and Jason are not finished. They can't be. Please?

And to Antonia, my partner in naming, wherever you are, Cheers!
