Two lost souls, one broken love story…

After years of struggling and enough losses to give her material for a lifetime, Kylie James has finally made it to the top of the country music charts. Nothing will stand in the way of her career. Not even threats from someone who seems to have too much information about her private life. Kylie’s seen it all before and she won’t let it slow her down again. But her manager isn’t as blasé about it.

Much to Kylie’s dismay, Noah James, her ex-husband is called in for security detail. He’s the best of the best and with Kylie’s life possibly being on the line, Noah doesn’t trust anyone else to do the job.

Kylie and Noah’s relationship is steeped in pain and regret. Young love turned sour before its expiration date. Forced to spend time together, can a wounded veteran and a country star make their love work the second time around? Or will they both continue to be their own worst enemies and completely destroy their last chance at happiness?

Kylie's a big country music singer. She's climber her way from the bottom to the top and unfortunately she's gotten some undesired attention from it. She's already had one sick stalker put behind bars but it seems like there's a copycat out there set on tormenting her. After finding dead black birds in her dressing room after doing a show, Kylie's manager calls for backup security. The only problem with that is that the security detail is run by no other than Kylie's ex-husband. However, who better to keep her safe than someone who knows and lover her. The only problem is, the copy-cat has a way of getting through even Noah's defenses.

This is an interesting second chance romance story. It's not just a contemporary, but also a thriller or mystery novel due to the whole copy-cat thing. No matter what Noah does it seems like the copy-cat is always right behind them sending dead birds, letters, or messages on mirrors. I must say that I kind of figured out who was behind it all early on. However, it was still interesting to see if my theory was right or not in the end.

Just like anything Dyllin writes, the sex does not take the back burner on the story. These characters have been separated for a decade and when they get back together they sort of pick up where they left off and try to make up for lost time. And if they weren't having sex, they were thinking about it.

Kylie was not my favorite character though. I loved that her character was in her mid thirties but she acted like a teen sometimes. Some of the things she did or thought drove me up a wall. However, given what we find out about her throughout the book I guess all her wonkiness can be chalked up to that.

In the end I found this to be an enjoyable read. Even though I saw the ending coming, I still enjoyed the ride. I liked that the author brought something new to the table with the body dysmorphic disorder instead of some of the more traditional problems characters have. It was something that I'd never heard of until now and helped made the story a little more unique. If you're looking for a mystery type novel with a love of romance and sexy times, than give this a try.

This was a hard one for me. Emotionally. I identified with Kylie. A lot. Obviously I haven't had the fame and drugs but the other stuff hit pretty close to home. There was a part of me that wanted to reach inside the book and shake her for being so bloody stupid because Noah obviously loved her, but there was a bigger part of me that knew exactly how she felt.

This book is hard hitting, but Dyllin does an amazing job of giving you a ringside seat to Kylie and her issues, without trivialising them. Kylie's story left me an emotional wreck, it actually took me a few days to pick myself up and capable of reading another, that said I would definitely read this one again.

This was a fantastic read! I personally found it hard to sympathise with Kylie, although I understood a lot about how she felt with her body issues, I felt at points she could do with a slap and told to sort herself out and see what was right in front of her, i.e Noah James.

This book was well written and sucks you into the story, so that you don't want to put it down. I did guess the outcome quite easily but that didn't spoil my enjoyment of the story.

This was a different story for me. Kinda strange. I did enjoy the story, totally surprised by the ending.
