Wow

What complete and utter trash! The sex doesn't bother me, the reference to ancient religion and myth don't bother me,either. The fact that this "novel" is written by an apparently intellectually challenged 12 year old, does. How much did you have to pay for those glowing reviews? If you've ever had the great misfortune to read L.Ron Hubbards "Battlefield Earth" then you know the tone and level of literary expertise that is found in "2287 A.D." It's like something from the era of E.E."Doc"Smith but without any of the talent. Really, don't waste your time!

Due to my overwhelming penchant for sci-fi and fantasy throughout the majority of my life, I’m always on the lookout for a worthy novel. I was referred to this book by a book club member who said that it was a stellar story that I may just fit my needs. I’m happy to say that she was absolutely correct. From the thrilling beginning sequence, tailored with an eye for visual detail by the author, I knew that I was about to settle into an entertaining read. Steven and Renee, the story’s primary protagonists, were wholly fleshed out individuals that transcended the cardboard cutout caricatures that are the trappings of all too many fantasy books. I highly enjoyed Ashlyn as well, and the way the author foreshadows events as her storyline progressed was thrilling, keeping me enthralled throughout.

The author has a stellar way of infusing real world myths and realities into his work. The intriguing Nephilim and the Sitchin provoking Annunaki being just a couple of them. Such inclusions are what kept me even further able to suspend disbelief and enshroud myself in the tale. In all candidness, I can’t recall a more vividly drawn and detailed world since reading the Wheel of Time series. Also since this is, thankfully, just the first in a series, I now have another tale to anticipate from this super talented author.

In summary, if anyone else is looking for one of those rare novels that has everything from an easy believe world, characters you get attached to, and a story that begs for a Hollywood mockup, then this is the novel for you too. I know, for me anyway, that 2287 A.D. is going to remain in my personal library for a long time to come.

OMG!!! That ending after the ending. I Loved the ending and wish I could tell everyone how it works but I don't want to ruin the surprise.

I don't have time to write a full review right now but I will tell you that I loved this book. I go through several DNF's before I find a gem. This one is a gem for people who like true fantasy. I'm speechless to some of the things that happened in this book. Have your thinking cap on when you read it for yourself because it's one big mystery that every time a portion is revealed, you want more.

BTW, there is a nice sex scene written in this story but it comes when you least expect it. Much thanks to this author for writing a story that was refreshingly good and allowed me to escape my own reality for a while.

This book is a 16 year old boys fantasy, it is written at that level, there is the women who CANT resist the man, there are tons of veiled sexual references and the book just isn't that good. I enjoyed the beginning and thought I have found a great book, but alas, it was not to be. The one notable item, a great quote, "There are no atheists in foxholes", but I just googled it, it is a common quote, so the only thing I enjoyed, other than the cover, was that quote.

Tedious

Even Sci Fi Fantasy has to be believable. The plot jumps from one barely plausible change to another. The characters are not fully developed. Its Caricature city.

Good but some logic leaps

Great book other than logic leaps that I will talk about after spoiler warning. The grammar is good all around as is the length. While parts of the story get bogged down or fall by the wayside it moves along steady in the larger scheme of things.but overall a good journey if not as tightly wound and wrapped up as prefered it can still be enjoyed even with the occasional head scratching moment.

Spoilers follow this

Some logic leaps I refer to is the fact that they use 1 less advance ship to wipe out the enemy fleet. Yes they had surprise but they took out the superior fleet then using 6000 people and whatever resources were hidden in a sea base(which you couldn't get to with a damaged ship) they repaired it and took out more ships before attacking the enemy homeworld. I understand he is the chosen one and all that jazz but he needs a way that he does it maybe with expounding on how he was able to stop the ship by being destroyed with the terminus super bomb.

Another time I felt there was much leaping and a forgetting of characteristics is the ending +ending 2. Evil overload decides to stop torturing the boy and instead of eating him sends him in a convoy that he gets rescued from. Not that I wanted the boy to die but it was part of the character building it happened and it feels like a I rewind to avoid dealing with the aftermath while getting the character building from it .Wife who has a psychic link to husband can't tell a doppelganger from him,I understand others having the issue but not really her although I'm assuming she will find out it's just eh. Not only does she not notice the glaring lack of the other half of her soul/magnetic field/etc but she can't tell he is acting any different with a now lifetime of experience with him. Super bio guardian who watching the fight doesn't notice the evil overlords escape nor can he tell a woman he transports is said overlord or at least a member of that race yet can tell who mc and wife are at glace recognizing them as members of the alien race. The Mc deciding he can do nothing but try to call for help after being stuck in a armory .... a freaking armory and your best idea is to call for help without trying to shapeshift or energyblast or look for a way out. I understand some of the end issues will be addressed but honestly it felt a little forced to set up the next book in which everything is pretty much reset and underdog Mc must fight the evil overlord to save or regain alien homeworld. (Tried to leave every name out of spoils on purpose sorry if it seems vague at parts l)

I picked up this book after reading the intriguing description. I'm always looking for a good sci-fi book, so I just had to check this one out.

2287 AD is wonderful novel about a man named Steven Sherrah, the commander of the sole remaining starship. The fate of humanity rests squarely upon his shoulders, as he has to lead his people away from the grips of the powerful and evil enemy. As Steven's journey progresses, Ashlyn Parker, a woman who was genetically engineered to be the perfect woman, awakens and he finds a strong connection with her.

The story is written magnificently, as the author describes each situation in the perfect amount of detail. Steven and Ashlyn are characters which you become connected to, and the plot delivers the perfect blend between action and romance. Recommended to anyone.

A fascinating, futuristic tale of adventure, sci-fi and fantasy. Set in the post-apocalyptic period, the story begins with a "big bang" and picks up very qucikly to reach a crescendo, with lots of peaks and troughs to keep tthe interest of the reader. It is action-packed and I liked how every action scene is built up gradually and then peaks before it gives the reader a breathing moment, which rarely lasts a couple of pages down the story before it begins to build up again to another peak. It was difficult to stop reading even for the loo. Overall, a truly enjoyable epic story that will sure put a smile on faces of lovers of sci-fi, adventure and fantasy.

I don't really read much Sci-Fi, but I really enjoyed this one! I found that the author did an excellent job with the character portrayal. Ashlyn and Steven were an interesting match and I loved watching their dynamic grow as they became closer throughout the story. I felt that the scenery was portrayed well and I felt as though I was right there in the middle of the action! The book was action-packed and very adventurous. This was a novel that I couldn't put down. I hope that the author will write more books as I have gotten interested in the genre after reading this one.

A truly unique book with a powerful storyline that has mesmerized me from the very beginning. The concept is one of a kind and I loved the dynamic between Ashlyn and Steven. The characters were well developed and I could almost feel their emotion as they made the best of their circumstances while exiled from the destroyed home world. A wonderful to read sci-fi saga and I enjoyed how their relationship endured and evolved throughout the story. Definitely worth reading.

A winner

"... majestic romanticism..."
This quote from the text of 2287A.D. epitomizes the sweeping power of this well-conceived, "clash of titans" novel. The authors offer ferocious battle scenes; good vs. evil; tender love in glorious, Edenic beauty alongside gruesome images conjured up by talented writers. Sadly, too many word-choice errors and a lack of adequate editing detract from the overall reading experience, dropping this book from a full 5 stars, to 4-and-a-half.

Meh.

The writing is juvenile and amateurish. The author does not seem to know how to write believable characters. I doubt I would ever read anything else by this writer.

For the most part I enjoyed this story as it is part sci-fi mixed with several other genres that I like, e.g. Apocalyptic/ post-apocalypse. It also has some awesome battles including shape-shifting "gods" and "demon". Sometimes though it did seem to drag on a bit and the sex scenes, while soft porn, could have been omitted in my personal opinion. I must say that the two endings were very well crafted. There are other reviews that state this is unbelievable and to that I must say, "Duh, it's fantasy, lol". I recommend it to anyone that enjoys light sci-fi such as Battlefield Earth. I read this book by way of Kindle Unlimited.

Excellent storyline. Love the plot twist

I didn't see this coming at all. I understand the DNA manipulation how that effected the protagonists, but to move them into that next state of being, no idea which changed everything for me. I love th characters and the way there is a depth of character with each. Good show!

I'll start out by saying that overall I enjoyed this story. Here's what I thought:

! ! ! Warning: There may be some spoilers in this review ! ! !

The pros:
- An enjoyable pair of main characters.
- Amusing, if often over the top, flirtation, romance and sexual encounters.
- Action Packed.
- The plot is fast moving and keeps the reader interested.

The cons:
- Outside of maybe 1/2 a dozen of the main characters, everyone else seemed to simply be included as cannon fodder with little substance. This included the main bad guy. As an example: The human race is down to a total population of 6,000 souls. 50 (give or take a few) people get wiped out (several times) in space combat and little mention is made about the fact that in each instance almost 1 percent of the total remaining human population was wiped out. Such losses, when so few humans are left already are either grossly wasteful or a necessary sacrifice. Since not much was said about them, it kind of felt like Steven was a bit heartless and could care less about the survival of the human race.
- There were a couple of details that seemed to contradict earlier statements in the story. These will hopefully be explained in future books in the series. The main example is the fact that Steven and Ashlyn are supposed to be genetically linked mates and as such have no feelings for other people. Yet in the cliffhanger included at the end it would appear that Ashlyn is being deceived by Enlil after Steven was imprisoned. How can Ashlyn possibly not recognise that Enlil is a fraud? Surely shape shifting wouldn't result in Enlil being able to mimic that genetic link.
- Some of the flirtation, romance and sexual encounters felt a bit like filler. Not always, but sometimes.

Although my list of cons would probably indicate that I didn't like the story, that's not the case. I enjoyed the story a great deal. I simply think we could have swapped a flirtation scene with a nod to the fallen of some of the battles that totalled a fair percentage of the remaining human population. I also find it really hard to believe that Ashlyn could be fooled by Enlil, when she has such a supposedly strong genetic link to Steven.

I reserve my right to change this review in the event that future books in the series clear up some of the issues I had with the first instalment of it.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Well there are bound to be a lot of negative reviews about this book given the content, even with the warnings, because people just love to ignore these and complain anyway!
I thought it was rather a clever twist on the entire evolution, meets biblical theories (I haven’t come across it before, although I'm sure someone has tried it somewhere!) I guess sometimes people need to realise that this is FICTION not someone trying to write fact and that it's about having a bit of fun, and to try and take it for what it is and instead of immediately thinking that the writers are trying to poke fun or re-write things, stop taking things so seriously and enjoy the creativity it takes to meld these things together.
That’s what this genre is all about – having some escapism and some enjoyment.
I'm pretty sure that when science fiction is written in its current period, that the technology thought of doesn’t exist, that's why it's called sci-fi, it's designed to entertain. So many times recently I see in reviews people taking these books so seriously and criticising the content, rather than just enjoying the actual book!!
If you are reading the book for that reason, then don’t read it – because you are missing the point!!
As for this book in particular – yeh, it has a few interesting concepts – but I found it rather fascinating how the Authors took these concepts, such deeply embedded ones, and managed to make a rather interesting story out of it. Is it believable? Well that's for you to decide – but seriously, how much of sci-fi is believable? Shall we argue the flight patterns of black vs red dragons next? 
The Characters in this book are awesome, they seem to delve right back to the early years of sci-fi, giving the story an old time feel, but with some new time story lines (it does get quite hot under the collar in several places!!)
Overall – if you take yourself too seriously, this book is NOT for you, BUT, if you like a good bit of science fiction, a good laugh, action adventure sci-fi book, more in line with the old Flash Gordon Movie, then this is right up your alley. But please, if you are at all sensitive, read the warning at the front – otherwise – enjoy!

2287 A.D. I enjoyed the book

Later in the story I read someone's idea of the way We were created and dealt with, which in my opinion is more believable then all the warmongering spread by most religions for century's.

But that's all it is, and idea, and after reading the story I got the impression that this story is being attacked by one or more religious groups, not Sci-fi readers, again, my opinion.

controversial Sci-fi, military, outer space, action, adventure.

Apparently many, not all, Sci-fi book readers and others don't like the "sexually erotic activities" between the two main characters, one male and the other female, whom have been created in test tubes and genetically altered to become super beings with human and alien DNA.

Their bodies were not overlooked. Both of them are beautifully enhanced accordingly.
Being a self-proclaimed underdog myself, I prefer to read books written by authors that are good story writers but are barrier challenged by the media whom tend to focus on themselves and those in their comfort zone for maximum profits.

I'm about halfway through the book. Its a good story and although sexual content is a important part of the story, it's NOT a SMUT laden erotic hot sweaty siren doggy style orgy driven sex party that the media sells tons of for hugh profits. Quite the opposite.

The story is well written with lots of action and interesting complex technical details, the Authors don't  deserve the criticism or the serious lack of profit.

The book is over 600 pages, but cost me just  .99 cents.

This was a rather light-weight fluffy, SciFi novel, not the gritty, hard core stuff I usually read. Not a terrible read, but not exactly high literature or even great space opera. Fairly simple plot and characters with a somewhat predictable plot with a couple of twists. An entertaining read, but not something that I am likely to reread. Glad I bought the Kindle version and not the print version. Good enough that I will read more from the authors.

There is some graphic vanilla sex, nothing too explicit as the authors are not attempting to outdo either Tanith Lee or Laurel K Hamilton. How a woman stuck in a hostile environment, beset with enemies, traversing a desert, still manages to shave her pubes is a mystery to me. But I guess the hero shoving himself into a funky, scratchy, Brillo-pad feeling vagina is not nearly as erotic as a smooth, perfect vagina on the heroine. Perhaps I am jaded by too much erotica and other, better-written graphic sex.

The authors mention they would like to see this book made into a movie. Based on the content and subject, I believe that Vivid, Private or perhaps Kink, three of the large-budget porn studios, might be interested in the screen play. I cannot see a mainstream studio accepting a screen play version of this book, unless it is one of Asylum film's mockbusters or a straight rip-off.

In spite the author's adult-theme warnings, I expected more. The book is tame in regards to the erotica I have read and cannot imagine how anyone would review this and give a low rating based on adult themes. Perhaps they are sheltered with closed minds?

I dislike the Sci-Fi genre but the book seemed interesting. I love how the author used our history of religion and hypothized a fictional plot around all faiths. I was not disappointed and appreciated the fresh view. Perhaps I am biased as an Agnostic.

The only disappointment is that I cannot just dive into the next book, as I did read the cliffhanger. I read so many books that I'll have to add this author to my list and hope the next book is also part of Kindle Unlimited. I would not buy it, as I do not read anything I must first purchase. I read at least one book a day and it can get very expensive if one is not careful.

Shun your preconcieved notions and enjoy the read. Keep an open mind and remember the author is not trying to cause you to believe in their world, only tell a tale that exists outside our own.

This book will never be known as a classic sci-fi book, but it was fun to read on a boring afternoon.
No great moral lessons or deep themes. The writing style is straightforward with no particular creative or clever style.

It's simply a plot driven action adventure. It works well that way. The characters are likeable and make logical decisions bases on the situations they face.
The plot isn't perfect, it doesn't always make sense, but in this type of book that is not truly important.

It is a mildly amusing pulp novel.

If your looking for escapist, action adventure with a little sex thrown in, you'll enjoy it.
Otherwise stay away!

For 99 cents on kindle, there are worse ways to spend your money!

I gave it a chance

I read the whole thing. I was just disappointed. Do I think it was offensive because of the author's treatment of the Christian story? No just sad. I felt it was a weak part of the plot. Do I think it was "soft porn "? No that form of literature is usually better written. The communication and the portrayal of the so called couple was flat and cold. To be fair both subjects were small parts of the plot.
As far as the rest of the plot it was interesting but I felt that it was lacking flow and depth. The setup was long and slow. It took to long to get anywhere. This was not a bad book. The story was nonetheless interesting enough for me to finish the book.

I really enjoy a good post-apocalyptic story and 2287 A.D. delivers a good one. R. Brown takes you on action-packed roller coaster ride to save Earth's last remaining survivors.

As a woman, I always appreciate when an author creates a strong female character. Ashlyn Parker — a genetically engineered woman — is the perfect complement to Steven Sherrah, commander of Earth's last surviving starship.

Spaceships. Villian aliens. Genetically engineered humans. Classic sci-fi without overwhelming me with science. This one is a definite page turner!

R. Brown has a great first book for this series with well developed characters. I look forward to reading Book 2 when it comes out.

From the very first page I was hooked. I have a real thing at the moment about post-apocalyptic stories right now and this one fit the bill perfectly. There are many themes in this story and as any true sci-fi it is a little out there and somewhat unbelievable, which is what we love about the genre! When you decide to take on this book leave everything you thought you knew somewhere else and go in with an open empty mind. It’s very action packed and hard to put down, by the time I’d realised the time I was half way through the book and dinner was very late in getting started. Can’t wait to check out the next in the series.

This book is a good one, in terms of Storyline, and Suspense. However, it has a few spelling mistakes, and could use a little more action, than description. This book is, as the warning went, comprising of a high amount of gore. However, the mature part of it is childishly vague. Furthermore, it would be better adapted as a movie, or an Anime, for that matter.
One of the parts of the book which I liked was the crucible of Ancient Mythology, and Religion, with the rationality of Futuristic science. It also, raises a few philosophical aspects. All in all, it is good book, worth reading, but it can get a little monotonous sometimes.

The story was interesting enough that I wanted to finish, but characters not so well developed that I really wanted to carry on. It was billed as "erotic" SciFi but sex scenes were muted and more on a schoolboy fantasy level than truly erotic. Overall an interesting twist on "Jesus was a Spaceman" theme, but I'm not going to hold my breath for the sequel.

What bugged me most was the, commas! I read it on kindle, so maybe other versions actually, had an editor? But random commas just, dotted thoughout the text grated!

Now I understand the criticism of this story

First and foremost, I love a good sci first novel despite its story origin, if it is well written in plot and has me wanting more from it, then I'll enjoy it. Second, given the many references to religious overtures used throughout, again I understand the criticism behind many of the negative reviews of this book. With those points being said, I will say I enjoyed the book well. Not as much as other sci first novels, but enough for me to say that I've completed it and found it quite interesting overall.

Great book!!

I'm normally more of a strict military scifi person myself but this book was a lot of fun to read. Do heed to the warnings because they are dead on. Reading the warnings is probably why I enjoyed the book as much as I did. I knew what I was in for. This book was made for adults with an open mind. So if you are a religious close minded person then this would not be a good read for you so don't rate this book or any other book based on your ideals and ruin it for someone wanting to find a good book to read.
