I was given this book to read on behalf of A Book Lover's Emporium Book Blog.

I was amazed to learn that this was the first book by this author. There were a few typos here and there but something I could easily overlook (look, no one is perfect and mistakes will be missed). With that said, I look forward to more books from this author.

I related to this book on so many levels. I saw myself in the main character... not with all the things she endured in her life but with the ways that she decided to cope. This book touches on a very sensitive subject matter and I applaud the author for writing about it. Sadly it's a problem that many young women face and struggle to overcome. This book was about that struggle. Not everyone has the perfect life you might think they do and they do not always view themselves as they should.

The story is Elli's story and how she finds a way to cope with what life has given her. You feel for her. You cheer her on. When she moves away to college, she finds a wonderful support system in her roommate and best friend, Tegan and the wonderfully handsome, Dylan. I loved the character development we saw in all the characters. All the characters were relatable, real and wonderful... all except for Elli's father. I wanted to punch him and grrrrrr, I found myself hoping that Dylan would be the one to take him out.

Not going to lie, the ending threw me! I finished the book at 1 am and tried to sleep but kept thinking about this book. I was sad it was over (you'll get it when you finish the book). I wanted more because I needed to know what actually happened after that last chapter. But again, I get it. I get the ending. Well done, Niki! I can't wait to read more from you!

This book was so cliché that I just could not enjoy it. Everything happened way too fast and that made the story really unrealistic. I wanted to like it, but it ended up being just OK.

Powerful Conclusion

A good story with a great message if not the best writing. While ready the story of Elli, a young woman struggling with her weight and body image, I remember thinking the story was pretty cheesy, however, it did leave me grinning like a teenager at times and I appropriate the fact it addressed a tough subject. Even though I felt bored at times while reading, I am so glad I stayed the course because the conclusion blew me away, it was a beautiful and thought provoking twist.

Let me ask you a question? Have you ever just wanted to start over? To get a fresh start? Well in this amazing tale Elli gets that opportunity and boy oh boy I tell you the story that evolves from that opportunity is outstanding! I highly suggest everyone to grab a copy of this on Amazon it's ONLY $2.99 and I'm telling you now for that price this story is a STEAL. You won't want to stop reading it. I know I didn't!!!!

This story was so raw and relatable it made me feel truly connected to the main character Ellie. Niki did an amazing job showing what it truly is like to go through anxiety and life in general. Ellie and Dylan's meeting had me squirming in my seat and had me unable to stop reading. It was a life changing experience and a book that will get you thinking of what people around you may go through without you knowing. Bravo Niki!

I'm reaaaallllyyyy struggling with this. Gonna bump it down the to-read shelf. I already don't like YA and this is way too much in the minutiae of teen text-speak and social interaction. Not my bag but I'll be back.

Such an interesting read to see Elli's personal struggles from two points of view. Dylan and Elli are adorable, and Elli is very relatable. For a debut novel, well done, Niki!
