Family lineages run as deep as the roots of any tree, and they're often similarly hidden from sight.
The hapless town of Shallow Springs once again finds itself in the cross hairs of a diabolical, supernatural entity, and this one is gunning for McCoy himself. For as the paranormal hunter is about to discover, the sins of the father sometimes carry deadly consequences.
I was born and raised in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, a town nestled in the mountains of Appalachia. Which, by the way, is pronounced "apple-atcha", not "a-puh-lay-shua". My favorite TV shows as a kid were "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" and "Night Gallery" with Rod Serling. I was also drawn to books with larger-than-life heroes such as Doc Savage and Robert E. Howard's Solomon Kane. I was (and still am) a big X-files fan, along with Lost, Supernatural, and The Walking Dead. I prefer horror and thrillers where there is a real, supernatural villain as opposed to psychological horror, and I try to incorporate such characters into my stories.
I do so love Finn, though his first name should be Trouble. Now he's facing trouble like he's never seen before, and it might not only destroy him, but all his friends, too. This book leaves a bit of a cliffhanger, so hopefully, the next book will follow very soon.
Have to admit I love this series...when I see a new episode I immediately know I'm in for a treat...glad you included all my favorite characters...can't wait to see how Pru matures...
This was my favorite one thus far. This had the most reference to a building larger story arc and by far surpasses the others in that capacity. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy the hunt and destroy method of these novels alone, but the fact that this one is riddled with clues to Finn’s past, connections of characters and forebodes what is to come later, made this stand out far more than the others. The epilogue’s ending was really what pushed it farther, leaving me on the edge of my seat. This is the most anticipation building Langrel has done thus far and I’m actually feeling real connections to his characters and their well being. It was also an entertaining story alone and actually made me question the fate of McCoy and his misfit band of brothers for once. Langrel’s writing style, while not at all confusing, sometimes comes off a little too blunt. I’m very pleased with this one however and I would say so far, it’s my favorite in this particular series.
OK, this book in the Finn McCoy Paranormal Thriller series is the best so far. All of the main characters come together to fight an evil presence. But this time a totally unexpected entity puts his two cents worth into the pot and stirs things up. That's all I'm saying - no spoilers. I can't wait for the next book!
MG you did not leave that ending there! I love these people. They are wonderful chaacters and always wondered about McCoy's family. geez. when is the next one coming? Now, I can't wait. Hurry up!!!
