Boundary's Fall #1

Path of Glory

Rate this book
The Boundary. The greatest feat of magic in the history of Madryn. An impenetrable barrier raised to imprison the Darklord Lorthas.

Nearly a millennium has passed since the Boundary's creation, and its power is fading. The four races struggle amongst themselves, their once-proud alliance now distant memory. Old enemies have resurfaced, and new ones lurk in the shadows, eager to use the chaos to their advantage.

The truth is known only by Jeran, an orphan raised in the shadow of the Boundary, and his companion Dahr, an outcast hiding from his past. Haunted by the knowledge of the Darklord's weakening prison and pursued by Tylor Durange, exiled Prince of Ra Tachan, the boys race across Madryn to deliver news of the Boundary's fall to the King of Alrendria.

Yet their greatest threat may come, not from the Darklord, but from the secrets they try so hard to hide from each other.

This is not a well known series, however, the detail is amazing. The story really makes you feel a part of the world. This fantasy series does a great job of explaining the world without making it have to be the typical 'character-new-to-the-world' theme. It has great action scenes and really develops the characters. Many may be turned off by the length of the novels, but give it a try! It is truly a fun read!

Jeran a young boy from the small town of Jaryn's Rest lived a calm and peaceful life until one day Dahr, an escaped slave comes and gives him some trouble . Together the two boys must travel across Kaper to give news of the great magical boundary's fall. They are the only ones who know the truth, but can they escape from the dangers they face.
I recommend this book two anyone ages 11 to adult who likes magic, elves, and other magical people to be in their books. The book can be s,ow at times, but makes up for it in the many battles that are in it

This is one of my all-time favorite books. The character development is superb! I found myself lying in bed thinking about them as if they were my friends (not just in that wonder what will happen next sort of way). I actually found myself slowing down toward the end of the book, to savor it and make it last - like you would really good chocolates. I just hated the idea of not being able to read more tomorrow!

A great entry to a wonderful series by my favorite author. Starts out somewhat light, so prepare yourself for progressive darkening as the series continues. Both action packed and full of characters you will love so much that you wish you could know them. I love how the three friends' paths diverge as time goes on, and how events shape character.

This book is more than "science fiction". It is Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and a great love story all wrapped up into one. This is the one and only science fiction book I have ever truley loved. A must read for ANYONE, no matter who you are or where your interests lie.

I read this several years ago and will probably need to go back and read it again before I start the sequels. I thought it was quite good. Bret Funk has reached high with the series and this first one certainly showed a lot of promise.

fantasy in the genre of Tolkien or Robert Jordan with young male main characters development well done and good world-building. the story was accessible and engrossing with the environment fairly magical but not too weird or far out.
