One of my favorite novels. It's very dated in its description of Harvard in the 1920s, fitful in its impressionistic passages yet full of color to me for the love between Epes and Ellen. "We cannot wait for spring."

The author later won a Pulitzer for his reporting from the South Pacific during WW II. I had the pleasure of meeting him once or twice.
