I would put this book in a similar category with Red Legs by Alice Goudey. Both are great insect-themed read-alouds for science-minded preschoolers and kindergarteners. Ladybug has a bit more jargon than Goudey typically includes, but nothing terribly overwhelming. This was the perfect book for introducing the concepts of pupa and larva to my almost-4-year-old and I learned some new details about ladybugs myself!
This is an older book, so understandably not many people have read it on here, but it's a good throwback for a classroom to have. Brutally honest, too, about the dangers and general activities of the insect world. I even learned a thing or two about ladybug anatomy! So, good little vintage find, I say.
