Rate this book
Carissa Jacobs spent most of her life hiding from her past behind the devastation that surrounded her best friend, Ava Monroe. After Ava’s parents were brutally murdered, the two of them left home for a better life in sunny Florida. Carissa had herself, and everyone else convinced, that their move was to give Ava a second chance at life. But she’d only been running from her own demons.

Now, years later, she finds herself enamored with a certain detective. She’s finally living a life she’d always wanted. One filled with a love that leaves her vulnerable to emotions she’s only ever wanted to keep buried inside.

When an inevitable trip for Ava’s wedding takes them back home, Carissa is finally forced to face her own tortured past head on. Everything she’d kept hidden inside herself comes rushing to the surface after a run in with her estranged parents.

Will Carissa find the courage to let go of all the hate and deception buried deep within herself? Or will she lose faith and find herself pushing away the only man she’d ever truly loved?

Always a 5 star must read by this amazing author! I highly recommend fiction lovers read this, and all the books in this series, preferably in order :) I knew this would be another entertaining book that I would not want to put down, and once started, I read it in 3 sittings :D ... Ms. Pearson never ceases to amaze me with her gift! A well written romantic story, some drama and ups & downs that will tug at your emotions, and well developed characters that keeps the reader engaged! I always look forward to anything she writes! Even tho I was given this to read in exchange for an honest review, I honestly love this & strongly recommend any & all books by this talented Indie :)

Finding Home by Emily Pearson
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
*Clapping* I love Carissa and have enjoyed her through Ava and Seth’s journey. When I found out that this book was all about her and Sterling my heart burst with excitement. Carissa is so crass and foul mouthed but damn if she doesn’t make me laugh…like full belly laughs at her personality. She is soooo me and TBH I think she maybe the alter ego of the author?? Maybe? Perhaps???
Carissa ran and ran fast when Ava needed her ten years ago. We knew there was a darkness in her own past but until this book we had nooo clue why. The revaluations she made to Sterling were sad buuut, like always, she left out some parts of her story. When her past comes and confronts her head on, seeing her break was just about my undoing. This strong, independent, make no excuses for her life woman was betrayed by the people who should have loved her unconditionally. To see her full story told was heartbreaking. To see Sterling finally understand her hesitance and be the rock she needed throughout it all *Swoon* is all I could do.
As much as I loved Seth and Ava’s journey and struggle, I gotta admit that Sterling and Carissa are my favorite couple. I know most people will be shaking their heads but I love Carissa for all her flaws and filthy unfiltered mouth. I love that she owns her behavior and makes no excuses for it. I guess I love that she lives her life without regrets. I loved seeing her grab on to Sterling and open her heart to him. But I really loved how he was patient and kind but willing to give her the space she needed to open up and finally accept what was happening between them

This book was just amazing words cannot describe how good this book really is. One of my favorites from Emily. I give this a 5 ++++ stars.

This is part of the Moving Forward Series and this book is about Carissa, Ava’s best friend. It dives into Carissa’s back story and why she ran away with Ava. But along with the amazing story of Carissa and Sterling and we also get more of Ava and Seth.

Carissa had to be the perfect daughter. She had to be someone who made her parents look good. But no one knew the lies that happened behind closed doors. But when things got out of hand and
Carissa’s mom made her do something that was unspeakable she ran with Ava and got far away.

She never expected feeling to come about when she met Sterling. He was there to help protect them from James. When he said those 3 magic words she ran as far as she could. But when he found her she explained he would wait a lifetime for her. Will she be able to drop the walls she’s built around herself? Will she ever allow herself to fall in love?

This series is above all one of the best ones that I have read. You will definitely not be disappointed.

Received an advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review.

I loved the Moving Foward series from Emily Pearson so when I saw we were getting Carissa's book I couldn't wait to read it and as always I was hooked straight away. Carissa is in a relationship with Sterling (the detective that worked on Ava's case) he would do anything for her but Carissa has secrets from her past that are stopping her giving him her all.
Carissa is such a strong, sassy character on the outside but deep down she she scared of having her heart broken and just maybe she's letting her past rule her future. I loved that we also got to see more of Seth and Ava a great 5 star read as always from Emily R Pearson.
