He's an ex-con on the right side of the law, she's a good girl trying hard not to settle down.
Sebastian loves his job. Private recovery means he gets to do what he does best while staying out of jail. But then a mark turns personal. Daria could be so much more than a means to an end, and the item he needs to re-acquire for his client. Can he ignore the spark, or will he give in even if it means jeopardizing the assignment and possibly his career?
Daria is sick of men in general and the boring, stuffy types her father keeps setting her up with in the hopes she'll settle down and give him grandkids. Unfortunately, the only man who sparks any interest in her is a bad boy with a checkered past. Unfortunately, a bad boy who's a good man is the hardest to resist...
While Daria struggles to figure out her own feelings, Sebastian must decide between the girl he's just met and his job.
When I requested this I had every intention of finishing it, because who doesn't love a good book about a con man who is trying to stay clean... The only problem I had was that this book wasn't the least bit interesting and I couldn't connect with Sebastian/Peter or Daria at all. Both those characters were so incredibly boring. I kind of liked the secondary characters, but only kind of.
Still I couldn't force myself to read this book. Everything else was more interesting. Hell, I even did my homework! And I normally would always prefer a book over homework, but with Diamonds even those were more interesting.
I'm sorry, but DNF at 35%.

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.
Sebastian can charm a woman with little effort; when his next assignment includes seducing the stunning Daria his mind and heart go to battle. Will his job or heart win?
A.M. Cosgrove has written a fast paced mysterious passionate romance with an intriguing and captivating storyline. This whirlwind romance has many secrets lying in wait; this is far from a straight laced assignment.
I loved Sebastian he was a man who despite his past fought for what was right when it came to those he cared for; he had turned his life around and was working hard to stay on the right side of the law. Not to mention he had a way with words and could charm the panties off any woman.
Daria was a strong woman, with a huge wall built round her. Considering her father’s background and the lifestyle she lived, it's understandable she always had her guard up. My only dislike in Daria is that her demeanour was on the whole very standoffish, however when she let her walls down just a little the true bright and pleasant personality shined through.
Their chemistry and connection was undeniable and they complemented each other; they brought light and happiness into each other’s life.
The only dislike with this book for me is it felt a little rushed; with a little more depth into the storyline and characters, the storyline and their romance had potential to be something much more. I look forward to reading more A.M. Cosgrove.
If you love reading mysterious, passionate romances you will enjoy Diamonds by A.M. Cosgrove.
I love Ms. Cosgrove and her first book with the romantic genre and she more then has me hooked. This book was a complete delight to the senses. From Lies to murder to heart break to forgiveness this book has it all. With her amazing characters crossing over from her main mystery series. I am waiting for the next drive into romance at the edge of my seat.
“Look I know you aren’t always treated like you should be. You aren’t a pawn to be moved around a chessboard to suit the needs of others. You deserve to be treated better. I am going to make sure that happens.” He took her hand in his and gently kissed it.
Daria was raised by a over protected dad and being the princess in his life. No man is good enough. Daria never trust any one not to hurt her or want something from her. When a stranger pushes his way in her life he breaks down all her defenses and she realizes he may just steal her heart.
Sebastian a criminal now on the right side of the law. When this case comes along it turns all his well laid plains on its ear. Daria is nothing he is expecting but every thing his heart wants. when danger threatens her where its least expected will he come clean and lose the best thing he ever didn't know he wanted.
"Yeah, for a second there I thought you falling at the sight of me." "Easy Buddy." She grinned. "It takes more than the mere sight of a man to make me fall head over heels."
I really, really wanted to love this book but sadly it didn't meet my expectations at all. I really liked the storyline in itself and I think if it had been executed properly and with more answers to questions I feel were left hanging then it may have worked a bit better. There wasn't many questions answered in Daria's background situation when it came to her mother and fathers history. We did get a short explanation at the end but it just seemed unbelievable. Sebastian's character was weak there was a couple of instances where he just stood there and took a verbal beating without defending himself or answering back, there was also no background on his life which left me wondering where the character building was. Daria did start off all super bitch but by the end she also became weak and defenceless. The writing in some parts was quite stilted and dead stop where sentences were ended abruptly or in the wrong context of wording. I don't know if was just the copy I was given but the formatting was way off splitting paragraphs that should have been continuous speech which really affected the flow of the story. Editing was also an issue in some parts where words were missed or letters missed causing incorrect spelling. The story is told in a third person pov but in a few instances it was as if it switched to character pov. I am sorry it wasn't better for me but doI wish the author the best of luck.
Cover: Beautiful and professionally done. Formatting: Professional Pace: Very fast! Cliff hanger: No - wraps up nicely. Character development: Brilliant. Complex characters/
Daria comes off a little bit snobbish at first but she really is relatable and likable - really she's just sick of shallow people herself and is surprised when she meets someone real. Sebastian is mysterious - in a fun way. Sure, he's made bad choices but he works hard to stay on the right side of the law now.
Daria is the first woman who isn't swooning for him off the bat - and as much as he hates to admit it, he ends up intrigued by her.
This novel was really hard to put down - it has drama and crime, a bit of romance, a steamy scene, more drama, then some action. I love that it didn't leave me hanging - I cannot wait to read more of this series. It's a well designed series in that it'll leave you wanting more, but not going crazy because Cosgrove wraps things up nicely. It's a quick escape from reality - and a fun one at that.
There's mystery surrounding Sebastian's present and Daria's past - watching it all unfold was fascinating.
The story is about an ex-con on the right side of the law, and she is a good girl trying hard not to settle down with anyone or anything. Daria could be so much more than a means to an end, and the item he needs to re-acquire for his client. Can he ignore the spark, or will he give in even if it means failing at the job. Daria is so very sick of men in general and especially the boring, stuffy types that her father keeps setting her up on dates with in the hopes she'll settle down and give him grandkids (his one wish for his daughter). Unfortunately, the only man who sparks her interest is a bad boy with a checkered past. Unfortunately, he is hard to resist. Both characters have to overcome things and make decisions on what is most important to them. I really enjoyed reading this book I hope you give it a chance.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Daria is born into a life of wealth, now shes all grown up she wants to find real true love not to just settle down with someone her father seems to think will be a suitable match for her status.
Sebastian is an ex con on the right path. doing a job hes been sent to do he finds it hard to resist Daria. beyond just the job.
This is a good book, I found everything kinda went down in just a few short days which didn't detract from the story but the ending was a little rushed I just wanted a little extra concerning the client/confrontation and more on how Daria handled it. The story lines were good so my interest was captured and intrigued into wanting to know what was going to happen next.
I really like when Daria's father in the end helps her to discover the path she should follow instead of his.
Sebastian is your playboy ex con who is working on the right side of the law and Daria is your rich upscale daughter of a businessman. When Sebastian's job brings him into Daria's life the walls they've built will crumble and fall with sparks flying. There are a few twists and suspenseful moments that add charm to this book. Easy and fast read.
4.5 rounding up. This story was really good for a love match between opposite worlds. Though this was classified as a romance it was the suspension, action, and idea behind the story that really sucked me in. I cannot wait for Den of Thieves book two to hit the market.
I loved this book. It was amazing, I could not put it down until I finished the very last page. It has amazing characters that you will fall in love with and a story that will grab you and not let you go until the end. This needs to be on your TBR list, there is no doubt about it.
Diamonds is what I like to call a "need to know" mystery romance book. There are many secrets that even Sebastian doesn't know them all. Daria doesn't know if she should trust "Peter". Secrets are revealed that left me gasping.
Be warned: I’ve been in a hotel for three weeks with crappy internet that likes to kick me off as I’m almost done typing a piece, crappy food for a vegetarian, and a total of two people besides my husband I know. I’m cranky, and my rose-colored filter is a little on the fritz because of it.
I didn’t like this book. It took me…two weeks? It was forgettable. I’d read it to put me to sleep when I couldn’t wind down. A page here and there, clouded by a sleep-deprived mind and cabin fever.
Look. I like to think I’m a relatively nice person. I try not to beat people down and discourage them. Even my previous negative reviews come with some positives.
But…
I just didn’t like this book. I didn’t like it because it needed a lot of editing. If you’re putting a book out there for others to enjoy, make sure you showed you cared enough to edit. I didn’t like the characters. Concept: cool. A previous con turning a new leaf on the right side of the law. Yet, he comes off as bad and has no clue of his emotions.
Sebastian the ex-con falls in love with a woman in his case and doesn’t understand his emotions. The majority of the book the two lovebirds sounded whiney and confused. The action took place so late into the book when that was kind of a selling point on it. Don’t deliver so late; it’s like bad sex.
The relationships in the book were shallow and without proper cause. People have reasons to like each other. What are they? If they don’t have reasons, more often than not they just hate people. And usually there’s a reason for that. The characters were massively underdeveloped. Everyone at Sebastian’s office was a name and replaceable with other characters.
I wish I had something nice to say. But honestly it felt like a son putting on his dad’s shoes; they didn’t fit because he hadn’t grown enough. A giant project with little experience.
I first became a huge fan of Cosgrove after reading her Suspense series Stan Brookshire. Her wicked mind captivated me from the very start. So it came as a surprise when I found out Ms. Cosgrove had decided to delve into Romance, or in this case romantic suspense. What came as no surprise at all was the character development. You either like the DOT team or you don't. Either way, there is a bond between them that flies out of the pages and can't be denied. They bicker and tease each other only as siblings do even though there is no actual relation between any of them.
As with most suspense, the readers either have no clue who the evildoer is and we spend the entire book trying to figure it out through the clues the author drops throughout the storyline, or the bad guy is known right from the start. We know who it is, we hate them on sight, and we continue reading to see just how far this character will go and when will the "good guys" finally catch on. Diamonds is unique however in that you know who the bad guy is, or you believe you do, and you know who the innocent party is. Everyone else is an interesting shade of gray. Because like it or not, sometimes you have to blur that line between right and wrong to do the right thing.
The storyline and plot were pretty unique to this reader and let me tell you that's saying a lot considering how many books I read in any given week. I cannot wait to see where Cosgrove and the DOT team takes us next.
Revived for review from netgally this has in now way effected my opinion.
This book was a delight to the senses. From lies to murder to heartbreak to forgiveness this book has it all With her amazing characters I am waiting for the next one on the edge of my seat.

Peter(Sebastian) started on this assignment figuring it's just another swindle but this time for a real job. Daria has been hit on by pretty much everyone in the room and she is just not interested but she feels this mans eyes on her all night. When he makes many attempts to get her attention she just brushes him off and her father interjects and tells him to leave her alone. Peter can't afford to fail so he tries the next day to get her to date him and finally succeeds but there is something about her that is different for him. When he meets her mother who is the one that hired them he suspects something is fishy but his bosses try and pull him off the case but the feelings he has for Daria make him fight to protect her. Lots of things go on and secrets are revealed and can Daria and Peter/Sebastian come out on the other side? This story makes you keep guessing what will happen right till the end Reviewed on behalf of Once upon a Alpha
Daria is daddy's little princess and Sebastian/Peter is pursuing her. BUT what is he pursuing? It's a little unclear if he's a con artist or a detective or just a plain old thief. Daria's back story is pretty clear but his is murky. Maybe the author wanted it that way but I found it a little confusing and detracted from the story line. Character development was done well. I found Daria and Sebastian to be very sweet together. However, very little happens in the story. It just kind of plods along. Writing was understandable and easy to read. Scenery was descriptive. Overall, this book was just OK. Not a bad read, but nothing exciting either.
I was excited about reading Diamonds by A.M. Cosgrove. The cover and blurb definitely piqued my interest and the story was just as good. I loved seeing a sexy ex-con who was almost bashful at times, and firm at others. He had sexiness down as well as charm. I really enjoyed the interactions and passion that flared between Daria and Sebastian. Both characters were fun, unique, with great personalities and wonderful dispositions.
The Plot line reminded me a bit of White Collar TV show and I thought that added to the appeal. It was fun, passionate, sexy, and full of surprises and a bit of suspense and danger.
Diamonds gets a FINE FOUR SHOOTING STARS! I am already eager for book two of Miss Cosgrove's Den of Thieves series!
“Diamond” was a fast pace story that involves a man who’s an ex-con who has the art of charm down pat, while the heroine is high class, but has a fortress of walls around her. When these two cross paths, Daria can’t seem to deny her attraction to Sebastian, but will he be able to con her...in giving him her heart?
The only thing I didn’t really care for was the way Daria was in the beginning, but she seemed to redeem herself later on in the story.
If your looking for a quick and mysterious romance then I would say Diamond is what your looking for.
Reviewing on Behalf of Once Upon An Alpha **ARC for Honest Review**
Diamonds is a story filled with secrets….all the characters have secrets. The things you think you now, you later find out you don’t really know at all. Sebastian starts out on a mission to find missing diamonds for a client. Ultimately, the mark he is using to obtain this “stolen item” becomes more to him than just a mark. There is something about her that calls for him to question what he is doing and whether or not the job is legit. Ultimately, all the secrets are on the table and Sebastian and Daria must decide if they can move forward with their past out in the open. Great Read!
I received an eARC, from NetGallery and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
I got this book from net gallery for an honest review.
This was a nice short book and I enjoyed it. I have to admit, I wasn't too fond on Daria - she annoyed me and what makes it worse is that she wants someone to 'make her heart sing' but she won't let anyone get close enough to do that. I liked Sebastian but felt that not much was said about him or his background. This book lightly touches on characters rather than going in depth which was disappointing. But overall it wasn't a bad book to read and the narrative but interesting.
First off I didn't know what to expect going in I only knew that my character died which was awesome!!! As the scenes unfolded and the pages turned I was eager to continue and to see it through to the end and let me say I was not disappointed at all but then again I never am with Allison's books!
