This was the perfect spicy summer romance! This was a short and sweet novella and it really had it all! It tackled romance, family, and grief. The culture is almost its own character and it’s so beautiful blended into the story! This is my first book by Luna but it won’t be my last!
Thank you so much to Luna for letting me ARC read this! It was beautiful!
Rating: ★★★★.5 Spice Level: 🌶️.5/5 Tropes: Forced Proximity, Second Chance, Rivals to Lovers
This was such a cute, easy summer read! I quite literally blew through it in less than 4 hours, the only thing I regret is not taking it to read on a beach day, because it would be a perfect little beach book to pop open!
I loved the touches of Latin culture we got to see throughout the book, it made the connection to the characters feel even more real. Adriana and Yael find themselves in a way that will have you feeling for them just as much as I did, so much so I couldn’t put the book down until I knew how their story ended.
If you’re looking to squeeze a few last summer reads in before the “ber” months, I highly suggest giving Capicú Summer a try:)
Thank you so much Luna K. and Luna Literary for the ARC opportunity!
The fact that I finished this book in less than 24 hours! 😭📖 That should tell you just how GOOD it was because I genuinely could not put it down! 🔥
Every time a chapter had a song mentioned, I was listening to it while reading, and it literally made me feel like I was inside the book. 🎶✨
I absolutely loved this story! A second-chance childhood romance filled with sadness, spice, love, and redemption. ❤️🔥🥹
And honestly, it makes me so proud when I discover Latina authors and their books are THIS good! 🇩🇴🇵🇷❤️ Seeing our stories, our culture, and our voices represented is everything. 🥹📚✨
Such a great read, and as always, there’s one saying I will ALWAYS agree with:
“Donde hubo fuego, las cenizas siempre quedan.” 🔥❤️🔥
Amazing representation of couture and the beauty and bond that is shared in that culture. I was hooked and could put this book down. Two rivalries become lovers and separate over a tragic misunderstanding. Finding themselves together years later to save what’s left of the neighborhood they thrived in as kids. Overcoming there past relationship and answering the hard questions of the past. Together fighting for what’s important with the game of dominos. This chemistry never disappears. This was such a great love story. Loved the concept behind it and the love for the game of dominos everything revolves around.
Adriana and Yael are the perfect spicy summer read. Luna brought all of the nostalgic Latino vibes with this one. Yael and Adriana have a history that no amount of time can erase. Watching them fall in love and fight for their town and what they know their neighbors and people from the bodegas deserve was so fun and brought out some emotions along the way. Perfect short summer read.
Adriana and Yael’s history made their reunion so emotional and full of tension, while the cultural elements gave the story so much heart and personality. Old wounds slowly give way to honesty, forgiveness, and a love that clearly never disappeared!
