A Bear Will Do Anything To Protect His Mate
Heidi is a down on her luck curvy girl working the late shift at a small town diner. She draws eyes from every sort of male customer, but they never turn out to be anything more than some jerk looking for a good time. She hates her job, loathes the people she's around, and pretty much abhors the state her life is in. In fact, the only thing going for her is her budding friendship with her gorgeous co-worker, Conner.
Conner is a bear shifter, abandoned by his pack after failing to find and claim a mate in sufficient time. Lonely and destitute, he finds his way to a small-town diner, hungry and in need of a job. It's there that he first lays his eyes on the curvaceous and quick-witted Heidi, immediately falling for her charms. When she doesn't seem to reciprocate his feelings, though, all Conner can do is bide his time.
A typical night of boring and monotonous work turns into a near-tragedy when one of the local regulars, drunk and feeling more brazen than usual, attempts to assault Heidi as she works the diner alone. Conner, sensing that his destined mate is in peril leaps to the rescue, but is he too late? And will Heidi finally realize that the spark she's been longing for has been working by her side all along?

I've read this a while ago and from what I remember this story is really short (17 pages or so) but sweet and just perfect for a quick break. :)

This is a short, steamy, and fun shifter romance that really knows how to get a lot done in a little space.
Conner isn't your typical alpha male shifter, who has to have everything he wants right then and there. Instead, he's patient and waits for his mate to realize that she wants him too.
Heidi is a spunky curvy girl in desperate need of an escape. When tragedy strikes, Conner leaps to the rescue, and it's up to Heidi to decide whether or not she'll accept her new reality.
Great concept, excellent delivery, and engaging storytelling!

Quick scene, good start
This scene was over so fast, I wish there was more! The writing s good, the characters are damaged enough to be sympathetic, but the story is so short! I read it in like 10 minutes. It was as nice.

This book is a fast read and it held my interest through out the whole book. It's very well written and the characters were very well developed. This is my first book by Mercy May and it will not be my last.

Very hot
Heidi and Connor come together after 6 long months of eyeing each other but never doing anything about it, until she is attacked. The sex scene was very hot and wanted more but alas it was a very short story!!!

Short and sweet
No real fluff. Not long, a serial, or bad writing. I'd read more by this author. I hope all of her writing is not going to be this short though.

Plot
There isn't a plot. The storyline is too short. Not enough foreplay and definitely not enough fucking. This is the type of story that you see in penthouse.
