Mikko will do anything to stay within Anika’s orbit; he'll even offer up the dredges of his father's corrupt company that he not-so-secretly loathes as fodder for the retaliation she seeks to exact. He tells himself it's to keep her safe, at first, but misery loves company, and Mikko finds himself entirely too willing to let Anika lead him deeper into her dark world.

As the blood dries, they both realize their similarities point to one commonality—Alek’s influence has stained them irreparably. Despite the vehement denial they both harbor when it comes to the other, it becomes increasingly clear with each kill they exact together that Anika and Mikko are unraveling in all the ways they swore they wouldn't.
