Kevin J. Kennedy is a Scottish horror author known for his fast-paced storytelling, dark humor, and unforgettable characters. He is also the curator of the bestselling The Horror Collection and Classic Monsters anthology series.
When he’s not writing tales of blood-soaked chaos, Kevin champions indie horror, supports fellow authors, and dreams up new ways to keep readers sleeping with the lights on.
Perspective is a novella written by Kevin Kennedy and first appears in the anthology, Creatures of the Night; vicious vampire tales.
A man with very little ambition, crosses paths with a female one night outside the gym. It is hinted that she is a vampire which lacks the blood off his face after he is beaten up by her ex-boyfriend and will not enter his apartment unless invited.
A relationship forms and when her fangs pierce his neck he immediately becomes a vampire.
Vampires are unaffected by the sun and they don't turn into bats. They keep the same urges they have when humans, just that their fangs grow large when in danger and they not only have to drink blood, but water as well.
They meet a pair of female werewolves named Elena and Isla, the origin story is at the end of this novella, to battle a horde of demons led by Layzamon, King of the Underlands.
It is certainly an action packed tale, yet the battle with the demons seemed to me like a video game. The Hills Have Eyes and the remakes are mentioned, which happen to be some of my favorite films. One of my favorite scenes are the descriptions of the werewolves when they transform.
