Olivia doesn’t like airports. To make matters worse, she’s forced to spend her forgotten birthday waiting for a flight that will whisk her away to the start of a miserable summer. Everything seems to be going to schedule, until she runs into a crying boy at her gate.
Nick thought he would spend one of the saddest days of his life alone in an airport, waiting for a flight he never wants to board. Then he crosses paths with a strange girl named Olivia.
A delayed flight brings them together for a day, and the two teens find solace in one another. They go their separate ways, thinking they’ll never see each other. Until, two years later, a delayed flight brings them together again. And the randomness of their first meeting, unravels into something much greater than either one of them could ever imagine.
Set over the course of ten years, this is the story of two strangers falling in love, and the journey they face in trying to find their way back to each other.
I'll admit it, I was a sucker for the cover. I expected a cheesy romance, but got a lot more. The two changing character perspectives were interesting to read. I identified most with Olivia, but also found myself fitting into Nick's shoes from time to time. It was nice to read a story where the family is actually involved in the young adults lives, while not being overbearing. I enjoyed the romance, and while yes, it may have had hints of cheese at times, I adored it either way. I liked Mimi as a side character as well, it made me want to know more about her. I won't go into the other characters so I won't spoil anything, but overall I really enjoyed this short read. You get to watch two characters grow into different aspects of adulthood, while seeing their romance bloom. This was a lovely read, well rounded and enjoyable.
Delayed is a novel about Nick and Olivia and their friendship through a good 10 years. Nick and Olivia never meet before, but while waiting to board her plane Olivia sees a Nick crying. Through that chance encounter an amazing friendship grows. Through dead mothers, cheating father's, girlfriends and boyfriends, Oliva and Nick's chance encounter turns into so much more.
There are not many books that I start and finish in one day, but this was one of those books. It captivated me from page one and had me hooked till the very end. A quick fun read about two people who could be more than friends.
1.5 stars, rounded up to 2. I am probably not this book's demographic as I hardy ever read YA or romance books.
The storyline is simplistic and obvious, none of the characters are developed beyond basic shells, the writing needs an editor (at least two instances of your/you're confusions). I honestly don't know how or why this book was in my Kindle, but it was an easy, mindless travel book that didn't take much effort to complete.
I wanted to completely love this book. Sadly I didn't. I found myself getting bored at times, I even though about throwing in the towel. The ending could of been better in my opinion. I wanted more at least from the ending but that didn't happen either.
A cute romance, but was frustrated with the constant misunderstandings and miscommunication. In the end though I did enjoy the book and it was nice read.
Very cute book. I loved the whole thing about every time they meet their plane has been delayed. And it takes them 10 years to get it right. Very cute and warming.
