Perfect and disturbing in all the right ways. The perfect psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat and not wanting to put the book down! This was so good! 👏🏻 The perfect mix of fear, torture, messing with your mind, and family.

Comes out 10/10/26 and I can’t wait to own a physical copy!

The Mind They Fear had my heart in my throat from the very beginning. There is an almost unbearable sense of anguish running through this story, and I felt every bit of the fear, anxiety, anger, and desperate hope woven into it.

The story wastes no time drawing you in. You are placed directly into the chaos, and from there, the tension quietly tightens its grip. I became completely invested in each perspective, not simply because I wanted answers, but because the emotions behind them felt so immediate. I understood the desperation, the impossible choices, and that instinctive need to do something when doing nothing is no longer an option.

C.A. Meadows' writing is wonderfully accessible while still feeling disastrously poetic. There is beauty tucked into some remarkably dark places, and I loved the contrast between the disturbing nature of the story and the thread of hope that continues to find its way through. It gave the novel an emotional depth I wasn’t expecting from a thriller and made the tension feel all the more personal.

And then there is the ending. Superb. It was the kind of conclusion that made everything preceding it feel even more worthwhile. After spending so much of the book caught in its fear and uncertainty, I loved the way those final moments brought the story together. It felt deliberate, satisfying, and completely deserving of the emotional journey that came before it.

This was disturbing in all the right ways, beautifully written, relentlessly tense, and far more emotional than I anticipated. I finished it feeling as though I had been put through the wringer, and somehow loved every minute of it.

What an incredible ride.

A heartfelt thank you to the author for trusting me with this ARC. It was an absolute privilege to experience this story before its release, and one I won’t soon forget.

The Mind They Fear by CA Meadows releasing 10/10/26—just in time for spooky season—is an edge of your seat psychological thriller that follows Marcus, who will do anything to find his missing college-aged daughter, even if that means turning to a mind everyone fears for help.

The Mind They Fear is one of those fast-paced, page-turners that had me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed the fast-paced plot, the intensity of the scenes, the sensitive subject matter, and the unique premise.

This story broaches some sensitive subjects —so check your trigger warnings —such as mental illness, and the stigma that surrounds it, PTSD, and kidnapping, with some subtle scenes of torture so if you are triggered please check any trigger warnings! Meadows approaches all of this with respect and grace. You get all of the juice of the story without unnecessary gore.

I thought the concept of this books was pretty unique when it comes to how it delves into mental health and the fear people have in regards to someone who thinks differently than what others consider “the norm”.

I recommend The Mind They Fear for thriller fans looking for a fast read with multiple POVs and high-intensity!

A High level of suspense thriller.
A fast-paced psychological thriller that keeps you engaged the whole time. I wanted to read on each night to see if the main characters would succeed. The story is about a daughter of a retired Marine Master Gunnery Sergeant who goes missing from her college campus. The police are ineffective, so it is up to the father to take things into his own hands. But along the way he gets help from an unusual source.
This was my first ARC read and I want to thank the writer for allowing me opportunity to read the book before it is out. Thank you, C.A. Meadows.

The Mind They Fear is a masterful suspense story. There are thrills and twists to keep the pages turning, and enough psychological terror to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. Well done on the character work as well.
The author did a fantastic job in crafting this exciting read, one that is hard to put down and easy to recommend.

I love a book that keeps me wanting more…and this one did just that! Had a hard time putting it down. A psychological thriller focused on family. I found myself racing through the book wanting to see what would happen next. The author knows how to tug at your heart - my emotions were all over the place! Loved this story from beginning to end!

3.75 stars!

There was a lot to like in this story.. dark secrets, revenge, and complicated characters. It hit for me because of the maternal instinct to protect your child but it didn’t quite get to “OMG I can’t put this down.”

Always thankful for the chance to be an ARC reader.
