Award-winning artist, illustrator, character designer and recovering theme park caricaturist Joe Bluhm displays his rejected sketches with hilarious results in his first art book. These frighteningly exaggerated portraits could serve as a lesson for how to (and how not to!) become a successful caricaturist. Bulbous eyes, jutting underbites and elongated necks make these drawings straddle the line between grotesque and hysterical.
Each copy of this sturdy, glossy 8.5x11" hardcover book is signed with an original sketch by Bluhm. Great for aspiring or seasoned artists, caricaturists, art lovers, or anyone who appreciates good satire and a good laugh. For more info, visit RejectsTheBook.com.
Joe was raised in the little town of Laceyville, PA, and attended the Cleveland Institute of Art in Ohio. He quickly moved into illustration and caricatures, then animation and advertising in New York City... where fate and collaboration took over, and tossed him to Louisiana.
Joe has worked on Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning productions in animation. His picture book debut was illustrating the New York Times-bestselling picture book, "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore." He is currently creating more picture books and is represented by Larissa Helena of Pippin Properties in New York.
Joe currently lives in Louisiana with his wife and menagerie of pets, working on books, movies, and animation.
Awesome, straight-forward as anything art book. No agenda here, no lessons to be taught, just a great offering of masterful cartooning/caricaturing. Excellent!
